Concealers -Tarte - Maracuja creaseless concealer
Journey03 9/26/2012 12:07:00 AM
I have been on a concealer kick for the last year trying to find that one great concealer that covers all, looks natural, doesn't crease and lasts all day. This is the closest I have come to finding it. I purchased this in Medium and it covers well without looking cakey. It is very emollient due to the maracuja oil but that's what i was looking for to not have the product settle into my fine lines around my eyes. I put this on after applying my foundation and set it with a translucent powder like mac fix plus or ben nye banana powder and it seems to last almost all day. i say almost because i don't think any concealer will last 14+ hours without looking somewhat faded. You only need a tiny tiny bit for both eyes and around your nose. any more -- then you put way too much on. so far it is good

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Intensive Moisture Balance
Journey03 9/25/2012 11:57:00 PM
I love this stuff. I was on a hunt for a really good, moisturizing face cream that I can wear under my makeup and not cause any dry patches. I have been using a prescription strength lightening cream that contains kojic acid, hydroquione and retinol that is making my skin very sensitive and red with major flaking. I went to Ulta and looked around what seemed like forever and came across this line. At first i was skeptical since I had never tried the line and i was afraid i would end up with a huge rash from the ingredients. I normally use erno laszlo but I can't wear the balm during the day and the supposedly hydrating day cream is not hydrating enough. so I picked up the small size and i love this stuff! i have been using it 2x a day for about a month after i cleanse and tone and i love it. no breakouts, no rash reactions, nothing! no fragrance which i love. i only wish it had a spf but i guess beggers can't be choosers. i will continue to use this product and i will get the bigger bottle next.

Liquid -Clinique - Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup
Journey03 9/25/2012 11:48:00 PM
This in my opinions is just "eeh". i went to my local clinique counter to see if there was anything new and exciting and told the SA i was looking for a long wearing foundation that will cover my "flaws" and look great all day. she directed me to this foundation and picked the color Golden Neutral just like the even better line. the match was good, although not a great as the EB although it's the same color name. Staying power was just OK but again, by the end of a 10 hour day it definitely rubbed off and you can TELL it rubbed off my chin, nose and cheeks. it did cling to my dry patches on my mouth and chin and was not very attractive at all. I suppose since it was a matte foundation, it was geared more for the oily gals- not me. i am dry/sensitive and i told the SA but she still insisted i try this. I only used this for a handful of times- its going to my "misses" drawers along with the other failed attempts of foundation. how sad.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup
Journey03 9/25/2012 11:43:00 PM
I purchased this a few months ago since i noticed it at my local ulta store as a new product L'Oreal came out with. I got the color in N4-buff beige and it was "almost" a complete match. I thought the consistency was great, very light and airy... the texture was not too runny and not too thick. However: the lasting power? a big fat 0! i would venture to say it lasts all of about 4 hours before the product starts to separate, melt off/rub off and just disappear like houdini. i was very disappointed--- especially since I work ALL day and I didn't expect my foundation to give up by lunch time. Its in my "no longer use" drawer in my bathroom.. time to find something else that is more long wearing. :( boo.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
Journey03 9/25/2012 11:20:00 PM
I was interested in purchasing this from many videos i saw thru youtube. i went to my local cvs and got #330. when i first put it on it went very pink and as time went on, it started to oxidize to almost my skin color. the consistency is nice- whipped and not too heavy or sticky. i love the lasting power since my job demands 10 hr days so by the time i get home and remove my makeup, it's darn near 14hr wear. i recently decided to get another color since the #330 was too light and opted for #370 natural tan. much better color on me. for reference i am #123 in MUFE and nc35-37 in mac. my only wish is if they made the packaging in a pump form (like the maybelline dream smooth mousse). i don't care to dip my fingers in the jar every time- kinda unsanitary- overall i am happy with the results.

Skincare - Body -Elizabeth Arden - 8 hour cream Skin Protector
Journey03 5/29/2012 11:49:00 PM
I started using 6% hydroquione 3% kojic acid .5% retinol cream to get rid of my melasma on my cheeks and forehead. Although i am winning the battle against brown patches, it left my skin raw, sunburned and peeling. i tried everything from creme de la mer (sample size thank goodness), vaseline, aloe vera cream, ultra calming cream from dermalogica and countless others and it still felt my skin was on FIRE when i put on the creams. after work today i was going to go to my local nordstroms and pick up a $195 cream by erno laszlo but decided against it last minute thankfully. i went home and removed my makeup and in my medicine cabinet i saw the tube of EA 8 hour cream i purchased a while ago and figured i wouldn't hurt (no pun intended) to try it out and see what happens. at last,,,, it did not sting or burn or cause more irritation to my already red, sensitve skin. i was shocked and relieved! i spent all this money on other crap that didnt work and this $19 tube of loveliness was just sitting there and saved my face! yes, it's a bit greasy and i don't really care for the smell too much- to me it smells a bit like preparation H ointment but it did the trick. i am so relieved. i read they came out w/a unscented version and i will have to check it out when i run out. i am not too too concerned but i am more curious how it will handle my day tomorrow.. i have to wear this tomorrow at work since i need my face to heal... we shalll see if end up looking super shiney and greasy by the end of the day. i guess less is more right?

Moisturizers -First Aid Beauty - Ultra Repair Cream
Journey03 4/13/2012 12:39:00 AM
OMG i love this stuff. My skin is dry, sensitive and flakey (thanks to retinol treatments) and i was looking for a soothing cream to put on at night under my erno lazlo. I went to my local sephora and decided to pick this up. I love the "medicinal" smell thanks to the eucalyptus oil in it and it absorbs well into the skin. In the morning my skin is nice a smooth and the flakes seems to be at bay. I love it so much, i decide to also use it in the morning before my moisturizer..although it may seem like overkill, i like to have a nice smooth, hydrating base before i put on my foundation. The only gripe I have is if i put on my Origins skin brightening serum then put on the cream, i get these beads that break off and leaves "crumbs" on my face. Other than that, it was $28 and it was well worth it.

Moisturizers -Erno Laszlo - HydraPhel Intensive
Journey03 4/13/2012 12:30:00 AM
I absolutely love this stuff. I was looking for a good, hydrating day cream that will combact my flakiness from my retinol treatments. Since I already had the active ph i figured i would this on a go. I am glad I did. I put this on then my spf 50 on top since spf 15 is not enough spf for me- especially living in las vegas, you need high SPF. I love the smell and the consistency is hydrating w/o making you look greasy. I will definitely repurchase.

Moisturizers -Erno Laszlo - Active Phelityl Cream
Journey03 4/13/2012 12:16:00 AM
Ok.. I, too, purchased this product only because I read Marilyn Monroe said this was her favorite. Since I a HUGE MM fan, I thought this was the closest I would ever get to MM... by using the same products as her, I would have lovely skin like her. I was at my local Nordstroms and I asked for a sample first to see if my face would tolerate it since I have dry, sensitve, reactive skin. After the first night of trying it, i was hooked. I loved the consistency, the smell and the overall feel of this lovely cream. It is similar to the consistency of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour protective cream except not that gooey, but more "creamy". I loooove the smell,, it has a soothing, floral, old hollywood glam to it.. kind of like MM herself. I love how my skin feels in the morning and how the smell just lingers on my pillow case. It makes my dry, parched, flakey skin smooth and glowing. Yes, it's quite expensive at $65 a jar, ,but I would definitely repurchase it- no doubt.

Liquid -Cover FX - Cover FX - Natural FX
Journey03 3/14/2012 8:59:00 PM
Wow. I am reading the reviews on this product and i cannot believe all the negative comments on this foundation. I guess it works on some and not on others which is typical for every makeup/skin product out there. I got this in the shade M50 to cover my melasma on my cheeks and it works great. it's not sticky at all and although on initial application it may appear to be too pink for me, it actually blends in nicely after my setting powder and a little bit of bronzer. i have been looking for a good, thick, buildable yet breathable foundation for such a long time, i have almost given up on foundation all together until a lovely SA at my local sephora told me about this. I tried the foundation in a compact at first a few months ago but the SA matched me completely wrong with E60 and it ended up very orange on me

Liquid -Smashbox - Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Fdt.
Journey03 3/8/2012 1:03:00 AM
I have the Smashbox Healthy FX already in L3 and when I returned the NARS Sheer Matte (which totally sucked, btw) I decided to try this. I got this in 2.3 and although it's supposed to be a hydrating 15 hour foundation, I don't think it's really THAT hydrating. I still ended up with small, dry flakes around my chin and cheek area by the end of the day, but I guess I could just add on more moisturizer. As far as the color goes, this was the CLOSEST match to MUFE #123 which is a perfect match for me. I only used this once so it's really too early to do a true review on this product. I used it with a dry sponge... I have read reviews that suggested the best method is my good ole fingers so I will try that to see if it makes a better difference.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
Journey03 3/8/2012 12:52:00 AM
I purchased this after receiving a good size sample of this foundation in NC37. I was looking for a more hydrating foundation- since starting a retinol treatment, my skin has been super dry and flakey and peeling all over the place. I found this wears well throughout the my 11 hour day when set with mac's prep + prime powder and it doesn't end up looking cakey or disappear half way through the day. I thought i was an NC35 but come to find out, i am a better match with NC37. I never used SS before so when I got a sample of it, i was pleasantly surprised and was thinking..why didn't i try this before? I guess because oil + my skin = reaction. Apparently since my skin has been so dry and parched, it actually held up well and no breakouts or rashes. I am happy I found this...

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
Journey03 2/23/2012 12:14:00 AM
I don't know why i repurchased this. I got this way back in early 2000 when it launched on QVC and I had to get it.. that was when they only had 4 colors and I got Tan and it was way too dark. Well, fast forward to last month and I went to Ulta and got it again. This time in med tan and golden medium since I have to mix the two together to get my color (again, I have a hard time finding the perfect shade for me). I found this technique too time consuming in the mornings when I am always rushed and the golden medium is very yellow/shimmery and not in a good way. So, I just kept it in my bathroom drawer.. i will either use it later when I have 2 hours to get ready for work or just donate it. I think this time I have learned my lesson- i will not repurchase again for the 3rd time. :(

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Walking on Eggshells
Journey03 2/23/2012 12:07:00 AM
I was very surprised how great this trio is! I fell upon this by a youtuber review raving how much she liked this product and great it is, so i decided to go out and see what the fuss was about. I was shocked that this had so much pigment, smooth, creamy application, just enough shimmer to not be overly glittery and great staying power. AND IT WAS $2.99!!! The colors remind me of mac's nylon, woodwinked and sunday best but I feel the WNW colors are much more pigmented and easier to blend than MAC. I would definitely repurchase since I have been reaching for this palette every day since I bought it. Great buy!

Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
Journey03 2/23/2012 12:01:00 AM
Surprisingly, I actually like this product. I bought this at my local CVS when they had the BOGO 50% off on L'Oreal products. I picked this up in W4-5 and it works better than most of my expensive concealers i currently have! I like the packaging - like a nail polish type applicator and it blends in creamy and the coverage is buildable. Definitely will repurchase if i run out.
