Masks -MD Forte - Skin Rejuvenation Hydra-Masque
Jinhee 1/25/2013 11:19:00 PM
This complements my nighttime routine like nothing else. I use pea-size every other night after cleansing and toning, concentrating on dry spots and hyper pigmentation spots. And when it is completely dissolved I rinse off, anywhere between minutes to hours. Highly recommend for prepping the skin for other treatments. It calms and moisturizes and brightens. And if you use this in combo with purifying mask or moisturizing mask (depending on how my skin is behaving that week), the end result is hundred-fold. I do not sleep with this on since my per-menopausal skin is rather temperamental and I'm not a fan of its rotten egg scent, but as a masque treatment this does all: cleans, purifies, moisturizes and exfoliates. And it lasts forever.

Moisturizers -MD Formulations - critical care shielding cream
Jinhee 7/20/2011 3:20:00 PM
Got this as part of try-me kit for aging/wrinkle kit for $28 and find the cream an essential element in effecacy of the system. Very expensive on it's own but I can see myself purchasing on it's own. Similar to the Md forte's hydrating cream in it's ability to soothe and tone down the redness and dryness over night. Works well under powder foundation and little goes long way. Out of the entire kit I do recommend the facial wash and critical care shielding cream. Edit 1/18/12: Im liking this more now that I've stepped up diacneal to every night on my attempt to encourage even more of a cell-turnover to combat post holiday blahs. (too much of the celebrating, if you know what I mean!) I use the shield cream alterating with Md forte hydrating cream just to use up the latter. And I love them both. Cushions, hydrates and protects without the dry irritation that I'm prone to this time of the year. Makes whatever treatment you are using much more effective.

Self Tanners -Clarins - Intense Bronze Self Tanning Tint
Jinhee 5/17/2011 8:30:00 PM
Evens out my pores for flawlessness I've been looking for most of my adult life! Seriously love the end result and I would never thought little color could give such glow! I wash regularly with my faithful Md forte cleanser and moisturize regularly and wait few minutes and apply with foundation brush. Few swipes on brows, cheeks and down the length of my nose and dab on some sunscreen. Beautiful glowing color that is totally flattering. I used my pressed powder over the tint and was so pleased with the results. The color developed throughout the day and seem to blend with my makeup to a perfect finish. How is this possible? No primer nor foundation gave me such poreless look, ever! No irritation and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Love this!

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
Jinhee 11/19/2010 12:20:00 PM
Bought this before they switched the plain bottles to pumps. Smart move since I find shaking vigorously to mix up the watery clumps and uncapping to get the watery foundation onto my palm always meant dealing with some "leakage". A pain and as time went by I just did not reach for it as much, so needless to say, there is so much left after few weeks of continous usage in the beginning of the year. I bought 3 shades from sephora: llight, next up in shade and the 32, a darker shade that I like to mix for better match. Brought these out to deal with the dryness that pressed powder foundations are giving me. I use clinique, clarins, amore, pola, and drug store brands. I know sounds like a lot but I do use them all to the pan. They all serve their purpose. Weather and harmones are playing havoc and I know I need to switch to liquid and cream foundations. I do like this foundation, the texture and the feel is the biggest draw for me. Goes on light and look natural, gives a flattering glow after an hour, but this can translate to oil in non-dry skins. Great value for the amount you get but what is that worth if I'm avoiding using for the bother. And it is bother since I do not love this. I would recommed for light, natural look and comfortable wear. Perfect for large areas of the body, I imagine. Feels cool going on and dries light as long as you don't layer. And if you have things to cover, this will not do that. Especially if you have combo, oily skin because this foundation will slide off. Experience of my teenage daughters. Not for polished finished look, you definitely need primer and powder and even a separate concealer for that. I don't even wear this at home since it doesn't have sunscreen and why layer if you don't have to. Light, feels good on, looks natural like you have nothing on, evens you out and it will lasts for years.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Oatmeal
Jinhee 11/16/2010 5:13:00 AM
I have been using brown and white sugar scrubs mixed in with jojoba and olive oils in the shower. I threw in some ground up oatmeal and I'm really liking the consistency of the scrub. It is working better as though turbo-charged and I don't have to rub as hard. I find oat meal can be drying for my face but really liking it for the rest of the body. No more expensive scrubs for me.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
Jinhee 11/15/2010 11:27:00 PM
My dry skin can't tolerate this! Love the coverage and the lasting power. I tried to make it work because of the finish and coverage. Different moisturizers or primers or fluid foundations did not help. I could not wash this off fast enough. Cleansing made me tight, red and irritated but judging by how my skin is reacting to pressed powders these past months, I believe I need to move on to cream-based foundations.

Foundations -Shiseido - The Makeup Cream Foundation
Jinhee 11/13/2010 6:21:00 PM
Perfect dewy creamy hydrating foundation for my mature dry skin. Coverage is buildable but one sheer layer is enough to cover some red marks. Perfect for this time of the year because I feel almost protected from the elements, as though I put on lotion. This is not a light foundation. I'm not sure how this would hold up in warm weather. More than a layer feels heavy on the skin and does not last four hours for me, so translucent powder is necessary. I will recommend for coverage and comfort.

Concealers -Lavera - Concealer
Jinhee 11/11/2010 2:09:00 PM
Too drying and has no coverage, so worthless for me. Can't use under eyes because it is not a creamy finish but flaky one that ages my eye area. Very unflattering. No lightening, brightening qualities but just a matte flat dry tightness that turns me off this brand for good.

Pressed Powders -Lavera - Compact Powder
Jinhee 11/11/2010 1:59:00 PM
Sub par in every way. Has a chance to try practically the entire line of this all natural products at a friends who is a real advocate. Regardless of how good a pressed powder for my skin I'm not putting in on since it: flakes off my foundation in drying itchy mess, has no coverage whatsoever and too matte for my preference. Can't even imagine putting this over their fluid foundation. (Shudder and gasp in horror).

Liquid -Lavera - Makeup Fluid
Jinhee 11/11/2010 1:46:00 PM
Got a sample which gave me enough for several uses. All natural ingredients sound good on paper. This fluid foundation gave: no coverage, no lasting finish, no glow, and no shade or consistency that I can work with. Did not mix well mix others, highlighters or moisturizers. Sticky and heavy, it just felt "off" as in gone rancid. I'm rating three stars because of it's wearability throughout the day. Not an easy feat to provide me with nondrying comfortable wear. Does have potential and you need to put in some effort to make this work if this is the only option. Maybe finishing powder either to lighten or darken the shade? With so many options available why bother?

Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - Sugar
Jinhee 11/10/2010 11:19:00 PM
I used sugar scrub for my scalp before shampoo and I'm loving the way my hair looks right now. Talk about clarifying! I simply dissolved the sugar with hot water and rubbed in until nothing is left. I rinsed off with apple cider and shampooed and rinsed again. Clean and without flakes. This time of the year, I'm plagued by dry skin, from top of my head to my calloused heels. I use brown sugar as scrub for body and loving the softness of knees and elbows. You need a binder with the sugar for hold and ease of use, and I have numerous oils for that purpose. Jojoba and almond work well. Economical and I will not buy another body scrub this winter.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Egg White Mask for Acne Skin
Jinhee 11/10/2010 11:05:00 PM
The good old egg white masks will never go out of style. I used this along with rice paste (crush rice to pulpy white and add hot water) for pimples during my teen and adolescent years. These days I like to add drops of Thayer's toners: lemon for more astringent and oomph, for instance. This works better as a weekly treatment and make sure to apply toner or moisturizer after rinsing off. Highly effective in oil control and tightening pores, but can be drying which can lead to more problems.

Toners -Thayers - thayers lavender acohol free toner with vitamin e
Jinhee 11/10/2010 10:57:00 PM
Not liking the lavender at all. This, with peach and rose are my least favorites. Smells old-fashioned, as in grandmother. Too sticky with the vitamin e, there is no way I can put this on my face. But applying this on after a shower and half-dry has transformed my rough knees and elbows and I don 't need to scrub in the shower. Since this is the way I use the rose and peach version, I see no reason to buy the lavender. I do like the following for my face: lemon for tightening my pores and aloe for moisture and cucumber for the clean scent. Economical and multi-functional.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
Jinhee 11/10/2010 10:33:00 PM
Grabbed this at the CVS checkout line and regretted it. As I always regret grabbing that candy bar. This lip balm had as much moisturizing ability as facial cream that sometimes get on my lips by accident. I find exfoliating with brown sugar in the shower keeps them smooth and moist.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Maximum Coverage Foundation
Jinhee 11/10/2010 10:21:00 PM
Very creamy, long-lasting and covers everything. I will not be repurchasing for the following reasons: I need to mix the light and the medium for a decent shade that I'm not completely happy with. Can be very masky and obvious, perhaps because I can't get the match I need. Brings on the oilies mid-day and I actually need to blot. And I haven't done that in years. Clogged my pores after three days. This is heavy-duty concealer that does not allow skin to breathe. The tube will last for years since you only need so little. For equivalent value and quality I will keep my Illuminare fantastic finish and extra cover at hand.
