Fragrances -Yves Saint Laurent - Opium

I'm writing this on behalf of my mother, who wears Opium, but doesn't want to be a member of a beauty blog. Opium is a very strong scent. My mom is a very strong woman, and in many ways, you have to be in order to wear Opium. You don't necessarily need to be the sensual femme fatale that's on all the ads--my mom isn't really, but she is a longtime corporate executive who has brains and balls. Some people have commented that the scent is too heavy and "old" and makes them gag--I can see how that would be true because it's definitely an assertive fragrance. But a good one, if you can stand up to it.

Cleansers -DDF - Pick-Me-Up Pink Grapefruit Foaming Cleanser

The more I do to my skin the more it does back to me. So slathering it in product and putting it through extensive routines becomes something like a self-fulfilling prophecy in which it reacts dimly to said prodding and then I prod it even more to get rid of its dim reaction. The compromise between me and my skin is this cleanser, which is wonderfully clean and gentle on the face, makes my skin soft, and does indeed give a little 'pick-up.' Simpler is better. NB: I have somewhat dry skin with relatively few (blessedly) complexion problems. If you have oiler skin or want something a little tougher, I wouldn't necessarily go with this one, unless you can try it out first.

Gels/Soaps -Johnson & Johnson - Softwash Body Wash
rated 4 of 5

At $3 bucks a pop, this my fabulous gym soap. I say it's a great gym soap because I like to reserve my ultra-pampering (and usually ultra-expensive) products for my home bathroom when I actually have time to savor them. At the gym, you don't have the time to really drench yourself in expensive body wash, and frankly, in a cramped institutional shower, that stuff just feels out of place. This product is the right price and has the perfect feel for an after-workout treat. It smells fresh, clean, and soft, won't compete with your perfume, and moisturizes the skin. For low-budget pampering, this is the ticket. Now, if I could only find it in travel size...
