Polishes -OPI - I Juggle...Men

What is with this polish? Its a great topcoat because it dries so fast and its a great layering polish because of the fine glitter. But what hell is with this formula that makes it crack so bad?! I find the wearing power to be better on top of polish than on bare nails but the cracks are very unsightly!

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - COMODYNES Self-Tanning Towelettes
rated 3 of 5

I bought these at The Christmas Tree Shop for $10.99 for a pack of 8. I used one towel for each limb and used the remaining moisture from each towel on my face and torso. I continuously rubbed my skin until it was all absorbed. It dries sticky but it doesnt rub off on anything. The next morning, I was a good 2 shades darker but also slightly yellow/orange but thats because I'm very fair to begin with. There is also that fake tan smell but its not as bad as most. Its probably more noticeable to me because my nose is closer to my skin than other people's noses :P. The tan is relatively even and streak free but its hard for me to reach my own back so that part is more pale. The only streaky parts are my hands and my palms are orange. Next time around I would probably wear gloves and do my hands last. Other than that, I like these. They didnt break out my face and I got the same color in one day instead of 4 days with gradual tanning lotions. I would buy them again but only for special events or something.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Professional Size

Unbelievable. They finally change the packaging but it still sucks. Original packaging required cutting open. New packaging doesnt but it dries out ridiculously quick. I had mine for only several months, used only about 20 times and its already so dried up that it takes forever to squeeze out. And it goes on streaky now because its dried out. The tops on these dont screw on tight enough. I am returning the 3 backup tubes.

Moisturizers -Origins - VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-boosting moisturizer with Mangosteen
rated 3 of 5
Jenesis914 3/30/2011 11:52:00 PM

I'm on the fence for this one. I dont hate it but I dont love it. Just like a lot of people, I gave this a try because I saw MakeupbyTiffanyD's review. I got it for $28 at the CCO. I thought it was neat that it provided heavier coverage than most tinted moisturizers so I bought 2 tubes. But testing it out on your hand is a lot different than using it on your face. The first day I used too much and sure it was nice that I looked like I had some color to me but if you looked at my jawline, it looked like I used a foundation that was too dark. So I started blending down my neck but there were spots around my face that was streaky! Blended it some more and everything was fine. The reviews here said it made them oily so i put my powder foundation on top of it. I went a whole day with it on and I DID get a little oily but it wasnt as bad as it usually is. Its almost been an entire week and I still havent broken out so I guess I will continue to use this until I run out. The reason why I dont love it is because if I use enough to get noticeable coverage, its too dark. If I use too little, it just subtly evens out my skin tone. I know that is the actual goal of this product but the effort to blend it and then still apply concealer and powder kind of defeats the purpose of a shorter morning routine. Overall its ok and I just treat it as an SPF because I dont normally use one (bad I know).

Lip Gloss -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ultra Shines Wild Child
rated 4 of 5
Jenesis914 11/7/2010 5:22:00 PM

I dont normally buy lipgloss unless I REALLY like the color and/or packaging. I saw this and immediately fell in love with the color. And the clear brush wand looked pretty neat too. The color is an iridescent pink purple shade with hints of blue shimmer. The wand is a brush rather than a doe foot and it applies just enough gloss without having to re-dip. The only thing I dont like about this gloss which is the reason why I gave it 4 lippies is the smell. It doesnt smell bad but it doesnt smell appealing either. I cant quite put my finger on it but it would have been nice if they had either made it unscented or vanilla scented.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Ecstasy

Out of all the colors they have, this is by far the best one. Its so bright and wearable at the same time. I'm not a big fan of brush liners but this one is great. It's stiff enough that it applies precisely and not all messed up. And the color is pigmented enough that i can liner both my eyes and not have to redip. The only thing is I wish the handle was longer so its easier to hold.

Eyeliner -Stila - Kajal Eye Liner in Topaz
rated 5 of 5
Jenesis914 9/5/2010 12:08:00 AM

Oh man, why didnt I buy this sooner? I use white liner but i think it looks really harsh sometimes. This brightens and makes it look like your waterline is just naturally that light. Even though it doesnt last that long, the residue is enough to give your eyes a pop. Besides, you can always reapply during the day.

wow this is an amazingly flattering nude! i usually hate nudes because its either too yellow or too brown on me. this looks like a beige foundation. it looks very chic and is a nice change from french manicures. it applies well and doesnt streak as badly as other creme/sheer shades. 3 coats will give you the color of the bottle but 4 coats will give you complete opacity without any streaking.

Makeup Brushes -Essence of Beauty - Control Powder Brush
rated 4 of 5
Jenesis914 4/17/2010 2:29:00 PM

I bought this brush years ago but rarely used it. I used it mostly for blush, bronzer, or highlighter. I started using a Cover FX's cream foundation brush with their powder foundation and loved it. But it was really expensive at $38 each. I remembered I had one of these and it was just as dense but angled. It worked even better than Cover FX's brush BECAUSE of the angle! It applies evenly and never cakes it on the nose where foundation tends to collect in my pores. Its also very silky soft as if it were made with real human hair and it doesnt shed at all. I absolutely loved this brush so I went to CVS to get more and they were out of it. Went to ALL the CVS locations in my area and they were all out! I thought they must have discontinued it. So I gave up and months later I found it at one that I frequent the most and I was relieved that it wasnt discontinued. But I also didnt want to buy it at regular price lol so I waited for a sale which never happened. While I waited, I checked all the CVS locations again and they still didnt have them. So I figured these were the last ones. I went to buy it and they rang up as $4.99 instead of $10.49 so I ran and snatched up all 4 of them lol. If you found it and you like it, go buy as many as you need! This brush has proved to be very versatile. It can apply foundation, blush, bronzer, and highlighter! One brush for your entire face? Cant beat it at $4.99! HOWEVER..The only reason why I gave it a 4 is because after all these years of washing, it still bleeds a dark blue/black dye when it dries.

Mascara -FairyDrops - FAIRYDROPS Mascara
rated 4 of 5
Jenesis914 1/1/2010 11:46:00 PM

I've had this for at least 6 months and have used it only a handful of times. I love the unique brush. The bristles are very densely packed which makes it feel like a foam applicator. It applies like a dream! It holds a curl very well without a primer. I have straight lashes and without a primer most mascaras will straighten the curl. Not this one! And its completely smudge proof. It gives a lot of volume but the reasons why I dont use this as much is because its hard to remove using a makeup wipe (oils would do the job fine I suppose) and it can get clumpy if youre not careful. I'd still repurchase because its so unique and has a great formula.

Eyeliner -Victoria's Secret - Christian Siriano Kajal Eye Liner in Eclipse
rated 3 of 5
Jenesis914 12/4/2009 12:07:00 AM

I have a hard time tightlining one of my eyes with regular eyeliner pencils without tearing up. This was a lot easier for the top waterline. On the bottom waterline, I cant do it without getting smudges. So for $12 + tax/S&H, it is not worth it for me to only be able to tightline my upper waterlines. Especially when that tip is all the product you get (1g/.03oz if you were wondering). Like the others have said, it is not super pigmented, just light black. However, it does last pretty long so thats a plus. I believe this is only available online so save up your discount codes if you must try it. edit//if you use this after applying mascara, this smudges a lot and gives you that raccoon look. but if you apply it before mascara, its fine. I havent used it much as of late but its still a great product if you have trouble tightlining.

Oh man..this stuff is terrible. It doesnt hold a curl at all and makes my mascara go on clumpy. I'll stick to my one and only favorite, SHISEIDO.

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Eyes Collector Set
rated 5 of 5
Jenesis914 10/24/2009 11:48:00 PM

This is a limited edition set for MUFE's 25th anniversary. It contains all 25 shades in full size at 0.04 oz. If purchased separately, it would have cost $425 so at $249, this is a great deal. I purchased this during Sephora's F&F sale so it only cost me $211 at $8.50 a pencil. They come housed in a beautiful metal case making it great for travel. The shades are: Champagne 23L, Fuschia Pink 13L, Purple 11L, Black Purple 6L, Shimmering Plum 4L, Burgandy 18L, Pearly Brown 2L, Light Brown 19L, Light Taupe 24L, Bronze Green 5L, Bronze 10L, Gold 9L, Pistachio 17L, Green 16L, Forest Green 20L, Turquoise 7L, Blue With Green Highlights 12L, Majorelle Blue 15L, Iridescent Navy Blue 3L, Mat Black 0L, Star Black 1L, Dark Grey 21L, Grey 22L, Silver 8L, White 14L I was undecided about this set and the UD 24/7 set so I purchased both to see which one tested better in terms of their claims to be long lasting and smudgeproof. This set won hands down. The 24/7s as beautiful as their shades are, did not last even on my hand let alone my eyelids (although, this is just me because it is not the case for others). The Aqua Eyes were definitely smudgeproof but not as long lasting as I'd hope. They can be used as eyeshadow but on my oily lids, they creased mid day. But it is pretty good seeing as I did not have any sort of eyeshadow primer underneath. With primer, I'm sure it would not have budged. I found these to be great on the lower lashline where eyeliner never lasts on me. The turquoise shade is gorgeous on the lower lashline and totally made my brown eyes pop. They are ok on the waterline but needs reapplying. IMO, these are not as soft as the 24/7 but they still apply very effortlessly and does not tug on the eyelids. Removal is also easy. Comes off fairly easy with a make up wipe but I recommend using some kind of oil or oil based make up remover. The finish is not the same for all shades. Some are metallics, some are shimmers, and some are matte. This makes them very versatile and wearable. You can create neutral everyday looks and glam/dramatic looks all in one set. I wish there were more different shades rather than a variety of blacks and browns but for someone who does not do colorful looks everyday, it is perfect. I highly recommend these eyeliners, especially this set if you want an affordable way to own all of them. It is pricey but it is worth the investment. I might even buy a backup set :) I do want to mention that 100 are signed by MUFE creater Dany Sanz herself but dont be surprised when yours isnt. I misunderstood and thought that only 100 were signed and available to be sold. Oh well.

Primer/ Corrector -Make Up For Ever - UV Prime SPF50
rated 2 of 5
Jenesis914 7/4/2009 8:41:00 PM

This is a terrible makeup primer. Its pretty moisturizing which I liked and it absorbed into a matte finish after a while but if you have oily skin, it eventually makes you shiny. For me, it made me shiny within 4 hours and when I blotted, my concealer and foundation came off almost completely. I dont typically wear sunscreen so even though the review below says it is insufficient protection, any is better than none lol. I can never find one that absorbed and isnt sticky so I really liked how this felt afterwards. But $30 for a sunscreen is ridiculous especially since it doesnt actually work as a primer.

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Maximum Growth plus Quick Dry Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
Jenesis914 7/4/2009 8:19:00 PM

This is the only top coat I use. After applying two or three coats of nail polish, I apply this on after waiting a minute or two and this not only gives it high shine but it also dries my nails within a couple of mins. Nails are completely set in 10 mins. With this top coat, my manicures last a good 7-10 days without chipping. I do wish the brush is wider for quicker application though.
