Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Jilbere Instant Heat 12 Roller Ceramic Hair Setter

I thought I would get more longevity out of my curls with hot rollers. However, the hot rollers neither curled my hair very much nor, hold the curl (or in my case slightly wavey), not even for an hour. I used to use my sister's hot rollers many years ago, and they were much more effective. They were much hotter (probably a good 20 Degrees hotter), I remember, cuz I was only able to hold at the edges of the rollers. These ones, you can put your whole hand around them no problem, they're just warm. I only recommend these if you're hair is easy to curl

Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - Novartis - Lid-Care Eyelid Cleanser & Eye Makeup Remover

I like this as a makeup remover. It doesn't irritate the eyes, but actually cleans them, my eyes get irritated sometimes and I need to clean my lids occasionally to make them feel better. This helps with that. However, I have trouble getting off mascara with this.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara

I still keep going back to this mascara. It doesn't clump or flake like all other mascaras I've tried. And you don't need to wipe off most of the product off the wand to prevent clumping like most other mascaras

Pressed Powders -Almay - Almay Line Smoothing Powder
rated 1 of 5
Janina5309 11/11/2011 11:34:00 AM

Absolute worst powder I have ever used. This does NOT smooth lines, it accentuates them ALOT, and I am only 28. It makes me look 35. The only thing it was good for was the pad that I could use to absorb oil on my nose. Even tiny amounts of powder would bring out those tiny hairs on the face, even on my nose!!! I didn't even know hair grows there. It's pretty much on par though with every other powder I've used from the drugstore. I've been using Palladio since, and I'll never look back. Almay was terrible, I don't know why it has such good reviews.

Used Darkest Brown. True to color. My hair seemed more damaged after, but could be due to the developer

Powder -Palladio - Wet/Dry foundation
rated 4 of 5
Janina5309 11/11/2011 11:12:00 AM

The only time I found a better powder, was when I used a friends to cover up a scab I had and made it look almost invisible, but since the label on hers is worn off and she doesn't remember what it is, I bought Palladio. This does accentuate wrinkles, however, it accentuates them much less than supposed "wrinkle minimizing" powders I've used. It doesn't accentuate fine lines really, but deeper lines, and if you have eye bags that are a bit lose and saggy it will accentuate those lines. This is the least wrinkle accentuating powder I have ever used. I never really used powders for this reason, except on T-Zones. I do use this powder everywhere and it's awesome. It doesn't sit on those tiny hairs on the face like other powders do. But a huge bonus is that it minimizes pores! Even dry, it does have the capability of providing medium coverage, since it layers well. I use it on top of my Rimmel Colorstay foundation (medium coverage), and all together I have heavy coverage with a very minimal look! Tip: For areas with wrinkles, I'll usually dab on water or a tiny amount of moisturizer with a q-tip on my wrinkles to "minimize" the look of them. It's seems to plump up or allow the make-up to settle naturally among them. I wouldn't use this as the wet foundation on a daily basis. But I would for travelling (since the no-liquids rule! And to carry less). It does provide good coverage, it's just that my foundation stays better and provides better coverage. BTW: I don't think this coverage will be smooth enough for people over 50, and some people over 40."

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5

This stuff is amazing! The eyeshadow under my brow bone and on my lid used to always mix and be one homogenous color after an hour. With this it stays put (unless I put excess on by accident). It's amazing!

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Liquid Liner in Smog
rated 4 of 5
Janina5309 5/28/2011 11:16:00 PM

I like this color for my hazel eyes. The gold sparkles in it compliment their color. I don't feel it made them pop, but still nice however. Sometimes I put the liner on to get the cat-eye look, with the liner winged out on the sides. But the liner in the crease of my eyelid rubs off. The glitter does seem to fall a bit onto my face after the liner dries. The liner is also not waterproof, which sucks. But besides that, it lasts all day for me without flaking off (unless I've layered the liner too much trying to fix mistakes). And works pretty good on my slightly oily lids. No smudging.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 eyeliner in Rockstar

This is a great alternative to brown. The color still looks natural, and it can be worn everyday, although sometimes I wish it were more purple when I'm going out in the evening because I feel that it would compliment my hazel eyes better. It is waterproof, but if you have oily lids which I sometimes do, it tends to bleed a bit. To take care of this I use a very light moisturizer (or none) instead of a heavy one around my eyes, I find using heavy eye cream just makes this issue much worse. I then put on Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer along the upper and lower lash lines. This works very well and I almost never experience bleeding. The price is ridiculous, but it's the only pencil liner that's ever worked for me. I'll probably go out and buy a couple more colors, maybe if I have a bit of extra cash.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Brass Banisher
rated 4 of 5
Janina5309 5/28/2011 3:05:00 PM

For this review I used the swatches from this website as a reference to what my hair looked like and the changes that happened: http://www.wiggoddess.com/margucolors.html I originally had medium slightly reddish brown hair with a mix of light golden blonde and dark golden blonde highlights. I had dyed my hair with an ash blond dye but it turned this color: 2500H dark strawberry blond/butterscotch highlights (except with platinum blond highlights). It was probably the natural red in my hair that turned it this orangey. So I freaked out and immediately went and bought some dark ash blonde die. My hair was now this color: 2400H auburn with dark strawberry blond highlights I had tried Ardell's red out, but this just washed out the next time I shampooed. So despite the reviews, I went out and bought brass banisher. I am surprised that this actually worked. The change is subtle, but my hair is now: 12FH Golden brown with golden strawberry blond highlights (except ash blond highlights instead of strawberry) My roots were a bit more orangey so I left it in my roots for 20 minutes and the rest of my hair for 15 minutes. I couldn't really tell if my hair had changed at 10 minutes so that's why I left it in for longer than recommended. My hair color did lighten by about a 1/2 level, I didn't see any change in yellow tones, but definitely there was less red. This product basically worked like a regular hair dye would, it both lightens hair shaft and deposits color. It probably used around a volume 20 peroxide developer. There was not very much color in the color creme. Basically it will deposit color approximately equal to the amount it lightens. I can tell you that the developer/cream mixture color didn't change much in 20 minutes. It turned from white, to an off white. But the remaining color in the bottle turned a light dull beige after 45 minutes. So similar to how a medium ash blonde dye would develop, but a much more ash-y color. So based on this, if you left the mixture in your hair longer than the recommended 5-10 minutes, like 30-45 minutes like many people that reviewed this product did, your hair might lighten if it was originally a dark blonde, and it would darken if your hair was a light or very light blonde. I think results would be best at the 10-25 minute range if you don't want your shade to change to much. It says on the box that it is a SUBTLE change. So if you want drastic results, go to a hair dresser. As that ash blonde hair dye fades from my hair, and the red in my natural color shows through again, I will definitely be using this product again Oh, and don't expect your hair to get all glossy like the product says it will, because it won't. And the product does homogenize highlights a bit too, especially subtle ones. But you won't experience all that much damage to your hair on the upside!

Mascara -Revlon - 3D Extreme Mascara - Blackest Black
rated 2 of 5
Janina5309 1/2/2011 3:09:00 AM

This was pretty awful mascara. It clumped and flaked. To get it to go on smoothly I had to pretty much wipe most of the mascara on the brush off. After that it wasn't as bad. Clumping is especially noticeable on the lower lashes. Throughout the day, it flaked a little. It also didn't work as well as others with an eyelash curler, I think it may dry too quickly for this

Eye Makeup Remover -Rimmel - Gentle Eye Make Up Remover
rated 2 of 5
Janina5309 1/2/2011 3:04:00 AM

I have been using this for years, but after using a friend's $4 make-up remover (forgot the name), I realize now what crap this is. It does sting the eye a bit, if you put it right in there. It's hard not to when doing the lower lashes. It takes forever to get off all of my mascara and it's not even waterproof, and there is always some left over, so when I wash my face I get racoon eyes and have to use this AGAIN to get the rest off. I also feel like I have to use a lot to get anywhere.

This product was great, but it get's flakey, especially exposed to water. Also, it doesn't hold up to the natural oils your skin makes. Great packaging, though near the end it got some chunky bits.
