Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Lip Stain
JaneD 6/8/2010 6:42:00 PM
I bought the version that is "lipstain + balm." I got it in the color Flame and was sorry to see that although the packaging led me to believe this would be a neutral red, instead it looks like hot pink on my lips. The stain is difficult to apply evenly. I like the lipbalm part, it does moisturize pretty well. Just too bad the color was so misleading.

Sunscreen -Peter Thomas Roth - Instant Mineral SPF 30
JaneD 5/1/2010 12:26:00 PM
This is the perfect on-the-go powder & sunscreen applicator. I live in a sunny climate and periodically need a boost to my sunscreen mid-day - but I also wear makeup, and don't want to slather another coat of sunscreen on. This is the perfect solution. The powder provides sunscreen protection and also is an elegant sheer veil of powder over my makeup. Looks great and is easy to use. While I do love the way the brush dips into the base to get powder on it, it does have the potential to spill - I haven't personally experienced it yet, despite having the product for 5 months now, but I can see that it could do that for other people. But it'd be easy enough to put it in its own little makeup bag or plastic baggie. Overall: love this product. Easy, effective, elegant.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Bel Respiro 24
JaneD 2/26/2010 6:57:00 PM
This is a lovely deep coral, almost verging on a pinkish red when applied heavily. A bright color, not for shy girls! Brightens up my C2 complexion. It seems to have pretty good staying power, and is quite moisturizing for a lipstick. Has a slight rose scent, but seems less fragrant than other Chanel lipsticks I've owned. Overall a nice color for someone who wants a real "pop" for their pout.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - MASCARA SINGULIER
JaneD 2/20/2010 10:52:00 AM
The good: volumizing & lengthening. The bad: clumping, smearing. The spoolie has wide-set bristles which made it difficult to apply evenly onto lashes. Bottom line: too many mascaras out there do better, for less money. Won't repurchase.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Clair De Musc

I sampled this on my wrist whilst browsing through Barney's, and gee am I sorry I did. A thick, soapy musk with a most unpleasant tang.

Lip Treatments -Guerlain - Kiss Kiss Baby Balm SPF10 Red Nude
JaneD 11/3/2009 8:01:00 PM
Lovely, moisturizing lipbalm that feels very light on the lips. Red Nude looks like a sheer bright pink on me - not my favorite color, but it's light enough to look fairly natural. Makes my parched lips feel lush & moist again. Like the feeling, might try another color.

Mascara -NYX - NYX Doll Eye Mascara- Long Lash

What a great mascara. It's smooth and non-clumping, and it lasts and lasts - no smudging! I usually have a huge problem with smudging, so I'm pretty happy with this mascara. Nice lengthening, not very thickening.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick
JaneD 4/19/2009 1:44:00 PM
Horrid product. Feels dry and sticky on lips, the colors did not suit me at all. Got Hot Tomato which looked like deep pink on my lips (though I must disclose that most reds turn pink on me), and Top Notch Tulip, which looked like a sickly coral-pink with shimmer on me. Just not a nice experience.

Cleansers -Olay - Olay Definity Penetrating Foaming Cleanser

Worst. Cleaser. Ever. The granules are impossible to rinse off, it leaves my skin feeling coated, and it broke me out on my chin! Stay away!

Fragrances -Gucci - Gucci

Impulse buy this afternoon, what a lovely smell. It reminds me of other fragrances, notably Gaultier 2, but this is subtler and softer than that pow-right-in-the-kisser meld of vanilla & musk that Gaultier packs. I'm not really a fan of the kind of label-loving vibe that Gucci puts off, but this scent is so feminine and alluring that I couldn't resist.

Lips -Kevyn Aucoin - The Liquid Lipstick
JaneD 6/25/2007 9:59:00 PM
The texture of this is amazing: smooth, thick, glossy, but with full coverage. Unfortunately I ordered Ondine without trying it (big VS sale) and on me this is a horribly garish fuschia. I look like a whore dancer from Baz Luhrman's "Moulin Rouge." Truly clownlike and awful.

There's a good reason this is a legendary fragrance. The purity of the gardenia is just amazing. Both warm and sophisticated. Wonderful.

Lips -Bobbi Brown - Tinted Lip Balm

Got this in Citrus, a sheer orange. Looks horrible on me! What was I thinking? And the balm has a thick feeling on the lips. Love the metal packaging however, has a nice heft in the hand and is smooth and lovely.

Cleansers -Lumene - Lift Touch Rejuvenating Cleansing Oil
JaneD 5/9/2007 6:34:00 PM
This is a really nice oil-based cleanser. Takes off all makeup and leaves my skin feeling refreshed, not stripped. I've tried and loved DHC's cleansing oil, but it seemed too expensive and hard to acquire to buy the full-size product. This is a nice second. I'd say it's a little thicker than DHC and doesn't rinse off quite as well for me. But it's so close to that product, at a better price, at my local CVS - what's not to like?

Eye Makeup Remover -Lumene - Absolute Away Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
JaneD 5/9/2007 6:28:00 PM
I'm on my second bottle and very happy with this product. I agree with the previous reviewer that it's almost exactly like the Lancome product, for less than half the price. Gets all eyemakeup off, even Shu Umeura's Basic Mascara. Does feel a little oily in my eye, which irritates it a bit, but goes away as soon as I've rinsed my face. (And all oil-based removers do that to me, so no difference here.) Love it.
