Mascara -Unlisted Brand - Blinc Mascara

This is very similar to the Imju Fiberwig mascaras from Japan except with less fiber particles. Their idea is to "tube" your lashes as opposed to coating them as it says on the tube container. Gives me great length but does nothing for thickening. Wore it the whole day without any smearing or raccoon eye issues. And mind you I have very oily lids. Very easy to remove - warm water works best, and it slides right off. If you like length, staying power and ease of use, go for this.

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Addict Lipstick

I have this in L.A. with the updated formula (Kate Moss ad era). It's a wee bit drying and the wear is not long, as expected with sheer glazey lipsticks, however the color is amazing which for me makes up for the missed points. It looks a typical pink in the tube, but on the lips it's a nice clean, slight sheer pink. It's nice for everyday and will go with a wide range of eye makeup colors. Packaging was amazing, it feels heavy and substantial and I just love whipping out the trendy tube from my bag.

BB Cream -Estee Lauder - Daywear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Creme SPF 35
rated 4 of 5

I wasn't really looking for a BB cream, I just wanted a plain tinted moisturizer. The SA offered this to me as an alternative and at first I did not like it. I looked around for a few minutes and it looked much better once it settled on my skin. It felt a little heavy for a TM to me but eventually it became smoother and less sticky. The coverage is good if you have minor facial skin issues. There's only 2 (!) shades however and I just lucked out that the darker one is my shade (I'm an NC40ish with MAC foundations). I don't even remember a particular scent and I like the packaging - it's very typical of TMs with a small opening tube. As of its healing properties (it's being touted as their version of the BB cream anyway) we'll have to see. I bought it, along with a few other EL products.

Polishes -Christian Dior - Nail Enamel
rated 4 of 5
Jakquetta 2/24/2012 10:42:00 PM

I bought one of the Holiday 2011 colors called Apparat. It's a dark, muted metallic red on the nail. In the bottle you can see the gold shimmer but on the nails it hardly shows but leaves a really nice sheen. Reminds me of new car metallic sheens. The formula was great, I only needed 2 coats and the chiseled brush was kind of nice. I would probably buy another Dior polish if they made one that's not as easy to duplicate.

Mascara -Dejavu (Imju) - Fiberwig Lash Knockout
rated 5 of 5

Definitely my current HG mascara. I have repurchased a few times even with the high price tag. This product gives more length than volume. I wouldnt be intimidated or bothered with the fibers, just apply slow and steady from base to tip. It doesnt give me raccoon eyes as much as all previous brands Ive used. It also rinses away easily.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Bronzer Brush
rated 5 of 5
Jakquetta 6/21/2011 3:08:00 PM

This is my first brush from Ecotools. This works well with my Smashbox bronzer, picks up the right amount and blends it nicely (circular motions). I have tried it with pressed powders and it worked too especially in the eye and other angular areas. Bristles are really soft and I love that they're made of taklon - same as Urban Decay which also makes amazing brushes- but these are half the cost.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Emanuel Ungaro See Thru Lip Colour in Not So Shy!
rated 5 of 5
Jakquetta 10/9/2008 2:42:00 AM

I have been a fan of the See Thru collection when it first came out so I was elated to see this as part of the Ungaro collection. It leaves a pinkish-red stain, like you just bit your lips but a little more red. It literally is a stain so do not expect gloss or an even color from it. I like the effect, very versatile with blush or eyeshadow colors. The stain stays longer than most lipsticks and glosses. It reminds me so much of Benetint only not as pink, it's a jellyish liquid and the sponge wand is so much easier use (and it's only for the lips),

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Glysomed
rated 5 of 5
Jakquetta 1/28/2008 12:39:00 AM

One of the best hand creams around. I've tried a lot, L'Occitane, Nivea Creme, Eucerin, Curel, BlissLabs, etc. and this ranks up there on my list. It moisturizes a lot, always leaving my hands very soft AND stays that way until I wash my hands. The scent does not bother me, I think it's a bit neutral already (I know some people don't like it though). Too bad it isn't widely available in my area, there was only one major chain that carried it then disappeared. But, I'm still on the search for it. It's great for winter, to put in the car and before sleeping. Very underrated.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Toasted Almond
rated 5 of 5
Jakquetta 10/27/2006 10:48:00 PM

I was looking for a good nude shade when I stumbled upon this color. I could say that with my complexion it looks like a mix of neutral nude brown, peach and pink. It's a good everyday color. It's like a tweaked nude lip color. It is not boring but at the same time it is still neutral enough to mix it with other palettes for the other areas of the face. The creamy texture is ok and it goes on good as well.

Hair Styling Tools -FHI - FHI Heat - 205RFI Ceramic Iron
rated 5 of 5
Jakquetta 6/16/2006 2:14:00 AM

After my salon used the CHI iron on me I decided to buy one for myself. The first place I tried that sold decent ceramic irons told me that they only had FHI irons which are actually made by the same company that made CHI. I have no idea if this is true but I have no regrets buying this product. I may have bought it with such a high price but I did not care since I could return it anytime but I never did even with that price tag. That's how good this product is.

It has a dial where you can control the temperature. The red plates are easy on your hair, when heated at the right temperature they just glide easily along the strands. It also heats up really fast and you can tell with the blinking red light. I've had mine for six months and I have had no problems with it. It does its job quickly and easily, my hair is straight until I wash it. I will definitely buy one if this will last me for a year (or more please). A guiltless splurge for me.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass in Little VI [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Jakquetta 5/25/2006 12:45:00 AM

I love this shade. I wanted to try a berry-violet color to stray away from the usual pinks and reds. This was my first try and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. It helps that it's a lip gloss so it is not overly purple on your lips. It is sheer but the violet tones are visible on your lips. It looks very nice, the violet effect is subtle. I love the brush wand instead of the usual sponge tip applicator. It is very sticky like lip glass which I don't mind. And it's a high-shine lip gloss. As with most MAC glosses it has a bit of neutral shimmer to it. One of the very few shades that I love from MAC.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Goldie Lipgloss in Nylon
rated 4 of 5
Jakquetta 5/25/2006 12:36:00 AM

I wanted to try something from this brand and chose this very bronze gloss. On my lips it looks a pretty, sheer, shimmery bronze. I can say it's not too bright or orange, just a neutral bronze that would probably work for most skin tones. I like that it has more amount than usual lip gloss tubes and its slick tube packaging.

Unfortunately, it's one of those products that don't make it. It's ok but I would love to try other brands with similar shades. It costs $14 and I could find a similar one from a drugstore brand. The consistency is slicker than most glosses making the shine disappear faster leaving the bronze shimmer. It's a so-so product which I probably wouldn't buy again.

Highlighters -MAC - Beauty Powder in Sunsparked Pearl
rated 3 of 5
Jakquetta 5/25/2006 12:22:00 AM

Bought this primarily to highlight my cheekbone area. It works nicely, giving a VERY subtle sheen on my skin. It looks so subtle because the shade is very close to my skin tone in effect the sheen doesn't really pop compared other people. The advantage is that I can never go wrong with application.

Aside from that, this should have been perfect. The powder is very neutral, the shimmer is not overpowering. It is a perfect highlighter for the brow bone, chin, bridge of the nose, wherever! I noticed it does not stay that long though.
