Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia
Iampo0kie 5/1/2013 11:50:00 PM
I waited ~5 weeks to write this review to make sure I tested out the product thoroughly. I ordered from Sephora because of the great return policy and have been using the sensitive brush head. When I initially used it, it was such a hassle to add another gadget into my routine. But now I can't not use it everyday! I love it for the deep cleaning it gives my skin. I use a natural bare-bones cleanser that can be ineffective against very oily skin, but this tool helps remove all the oil and grime off my face. It also polishes the skin and whisks away dead skin cells. I often come out of the shower looking shiny and glowy. I have pretty severe acne, with little millia bumps that cover my entire face and the occasional cyst or puffy whitehead. The problem with my skin was new millia would pop up everyday, and my face was becoming a bumpy mess! When I first started using this, I was still breaking out for the first week or so. But later, I noticed after I extracted a millia it would not come back! I owe it all to the spectacular cleaning from Clarisonic. It has really improved the texture of my skin and is slowly ridding me of blackheads and whiteheads. The progress is SLOW however and I plan on switching to the deep pore head to speed it up. When I use it, I use it in the shower for about 2.5 cycles (I really like my skin to be clean!) and I feel like this could be over using it because my skin is dry. But it assures me all makeup and grime is gone. I would recommend this product because my skin just keeps getting better and better. The price is outrageous but its the only product of its kind.

Brows -NYX - Eyebrow Cake Powder in Black/Grey
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:49:00 PM
This is a great products for Asian girls who actually want their brows to match their hair. I use the grey powder the most, it provides enough color to subtly redefine my brows. If I want to extend my brows I lightly dipped my angled liner brush into the black powder. It stays put unless you rub your eyebrows. I used the wax once, but it didn't keep my brows in place at all. I feel like the powder & wax break me out, especially since I cant thoroughly cleanse the area without losing all my eyebrow hairs... still figuring a good system for this :/ Also the brushes are useless. But overall a good product for a good price

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - New Flat Top Brush
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:42:00 PM
I really like this brush! It is eco friendly with synthetic bristles and a bamboo handle. It is made with quality, the hairs rarely shed (and I've washed it dozens of times). It feels soft when I use it and really applies foundation well. I do not use this for mineral foundaiton, but for applying liquid foundation. I stamp the foundation into my skin for lots of coverage. For applying to the full face, I stipple it around and then buff. I buff like crazy and it has withstood this for a year! Completely worth the money :)

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:38:00 PM
I really liked this foundation for the beautiful finish, but the coverage is seriously lacking. It gets light coverage with 1 layer, and medium with two. It looks great when you apply it. I have sort of bumpy skin (lots of milia) and it sort of diffuses the texture. It bothers me that such a light foundation sticks to all my dry patches! This usually only happens with heavy foundations. This will not stay on your skin if you are an oily person. Once the oil breaks, my pores are very visible and it begins to melt. Also, the warm shades are still too pink for my asian skin! It makes me look very orange and strange. And I feel like this stuff irritated my skin and gave me milia whenever I used it. I am not happy.

Moisturizers -Garden of Wisdom - Basil Leaf HA Serum
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:32:00 PM
This is my favorite gel/serum moisturizer. I am very acne prone and oily, and every cream clogs my pores. This serum is very soothing and mildly moisturizing. I like how it only has the bare necessities, and is infused with basil! The smell is wonderful and the basil helps calm down the skin and is apparently antiseptic. On the very dry days, I need to add a drop of jojoba oil. Other great uses are for sheering out foundation and making it less dry&heavy. My only complaint is I go through this very fast! I bought this two months ago and am nearly out (of the 2 oz bottle..) And this stuff isn't cheap either.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Mandelic Acid Serum
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:25:00 PM
While this product isnt a miracle worker, I feel like it has really improved the quality of my skin. I use it every other day after I have cleansed. I am plagued by tons of milia, which are tiny bumps with hardened gunk inside. There is no head so you can not pop them. This sloughs off the skin on top so that the gunk can escape without extractions. It is also good for keeping the skin smooth, shrinking pores, and making the skin less oily. I love how on days I use this, I don't get oily! My only complaint is I get very dry after using this, and the PRICE. I wish there was a cheaper way to manufacture this.

Cleansers -Garden of Wisdom - Simply Clean Tea Tree Oil Cleanser
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:20:00 PM
This is my favorite cleanser by far. It is packed with natural antiseptics and cleans as well as Cetaphil and does not dry out my skin! It is reassuring that all the ingredients are natural and can not harm your skin. If I am really oily (like after a workout) I need to massage this into my skin a little longer and let the soap break down the oils. For every day, I apply a dime sized amount to my Clarisonic and cleanse for ~2 minutes. Leaves it squeaky clean and sanitized. Thanks for a GREAT product GoW :)

Cleansers -Garden of Wisdom - Almond Milk Papaya Enzyme Cleanser
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:16:00 PM
I bought this when my skin was dry and burning over the winter. It is a good moisturizing cleanser, which is slightly exfoliating. I like that it is all natural and non-irritating, and cleansed without drying. However, it doesn't fully cleanse the skin. After my skin healed and I went back to being oily, I felt like it left oil residue after cleansing and had to wash my face twice. It definitely would not remove makeup. But it is a good product to have if your skin is ultra-sensitive or burnt.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Manuka Honey
Iampo0kie 4/23/2013 8:13:00 PM
I bought this because of its fabled antiseptic powers. I wanted to use it as a spot treatment for cystic acne. When I tried it, I used it while at home and left it on for 4 hours, then reapplied after my shower, put a band-aid on top and went to bed. When I woke up, nothing changed except the pimple hurt less and was less inflamed. This product is pricey and for the results I feel like it isn't worth it. Especially since it is sticky and hard to manage. I feel like other natural spot treatments (like tea tree oil) are more effective and can penetrate the skin better

Top/Base Coats -Revlon - quick dry base coat
Iampo0kie 1/3/2013 1:52:00 PM
Picked this up on a whim, its a great basic top coat. It goes on thin (which I like) and when dry, it is slightly tacky. I think this is supposed to make the polish "stick" to the nail better, but I'm not sure if this is true. I don't think it makes the polish last any longer, but it definitely protects the nail from staining with darker colors. And I think that's the only real benefit to using a base coat

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Egg White Mask for Acne Skin
Iampo0kie 1/3/2013 1:48:00 PM
This is a great DIY mask that lightens your scars, tightens your skin, and soaks up the oil in your pores. The greatest benefit from this mask is, it makes you less oily if you use it every day! Like, you will get less oily during the day! I only gave it a four because it takes forever to do! The easiest way to use this mask everyday is to buy pasteurized egg whites in a carton, then mix a little bit with pearl powder (for the healing and whitening properties) then spread it on your face. The egg whites are liquidy, which drips and makes a serious mess. Also, as some reviewers have noted, it can sting. I think this happens when your skin is too dry, so only do it when you have really oily skin.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)
Iampo0kie 1/3/2013 1:44:00 PM
This cleanser is ALRIGHT. It does what it needs to, cleans all the oil off your skin, and makes it feel soft and smooth. However, it is extremely drying. After the smooth feeling wears off, your skin gets tight and dry. The scent is also overpowering, and fragrance is a skin irritator. I love the economy size and pump bottle though, I wish all cleansers were packaged like this

Polishes -Butter London - Teddy Girl
Iampo0kie 1/3/2013 1:42:00 PM
I really love the color of this polish, the pink is cute but vibrant. However, the formula is HORRIBLE. It goes on all streaky and thick, and no topcoat can make the application look smooth. Applying more than 2 coats is a disaster, as it becomes very gloopy and takes hours to dry. I think they need to thin the formula out more, because 3 light coats would cover the streaks.

Polishes -Butter London - Yummy Mummy
Iampo0kie 1/3/2013 1:40:00 PM
This color is a great neutral, its sort of cool so it contrasts with my asian skin. There are tiny silver glitters in it, which makes it metallic-y It applies great, but as with all butter london polishes, the brush is awkwardly small!

Polishes -Butter London - Wallis
Iampo0kie 1/3/2013 1:37:00 PM
This color is a really interesting olive/gold/black. The glitters show up really well, and the polish applies great. My only peeve with Butter London polishes are, the brush is small. Otherwise, great buy!
