Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder

I actually really like this loose mineral powder! I have oily skin and large pores around my nose and inner cheeks, so I can't stand shiny mineral makeup...this isn't one of those. It's not entirely matte either, and that's what I like about it, it looks just like my bare skin would...but a lot more perfected! I really love Maybelline's Mineral Power, bc it's not shiny either, but I get bored easily and this is just as good! The only bad thing, I am using the darkest shade "Sand Beige" and I'm pretty pale right now, so if you're any darker than a golden medium skintone, you might not be able to find a good color match (or you could use the bronzer shades). I absolutely do not like the packaging, it's too bulky and just an all around silly idea, but I can overlook it for the product inside. Maybe someday PP will read all these reviews and change their packaging :-)

Hair Styling Tools -Revlon - 1 inch Flat Iron
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 10/11/2010 11:43:00 PM

I bought the support breast cancer version of this, and I absolutely love it! I have really thick, coarse, naturally wavy hair, and have gone through 3 chi's and decided I wasn't going to waste another 100 odd dollars on another chi. Honestly I only bought this one bc it was cheap, and it was pink and grey and I thought it was cute, lol, but as it turns out this works better than any of my chi's did!!! I turn it all the way up on high, and it leaves my hair pin straight, shiny, but not fried (like the chi's did). I love mine, and about to go buy a backup one, for when I finally drop mine one too many times!

Powder -E.L.F. - Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 10/10/2010 12:01:00 AM

I have medium tanned skin, and am using "Warm" which is a great golden color, that's neither too light nor too dark. I have tried pretty much every brand of mineral makeup on the market, and this along with Maybelline's Mineral Power powder are my two faves. I prefer maybelline's version for when I want a truly matte finish, and elf's version for when I want a more natural fresh finish. But I have to say, this elf mineral foundation is so much easier to apply/blend than Bare Minerals is, and doesn't have as much of a sheen on the skin. Also, sometimes with BM the tan shades look weirdly ashy, but elf's warm doesn't do that at all to my golden skin. This is also one of the purest mineral powders available via drugstore, and at the ridiculously low price, I would recommend that any gal give this a try!

Powder -Maybelline - Mineral Power Powder Foundation

Well, it took me 3 shades and some odd dollars to find a decent color match....but I LOVE this mineral powder, and I usually hate the way powder foundations look on my skin (they usually don't cover, and enhance my large pores). I will advise that this powder goes on a lot darker than it appears in the container! I am about an NC37, and I now use Nude Light 4, which is perfect. I really love the coverage and consistency of this product, it offers more coverage than it's competing brands, as well as a matte finish!!! As an oily skinned gal, with larger pores, I am so happy to have found a mineral powder that isn't shiny! It's def. the best of all the drugstore MMU's, and believe me when I say I have tried them all! I actually don't think the brush is bad, it's just too small, so I def. recommend buying a nice fluffy kabuki brush. I love not having to wear a liquid...finally!

Powder -Physicians Formula - Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 9/14/2010 11:09:00 PM

I really love this powder, and I own MANY! First, the powder is silky, and sheer and just seems to meld with skin, so it's so natural looking. Second, it holds up well on my super oily tzone, and third it doesn't break out my breakout prone skin. I haven't yet tried it on it's own as a foundation but I will update when I do, but rather I love it as an excellent regular pressed powder...I apply it over my KMF Tinted Moisturizer. It is kinda pricey for drugstore makeup, but it's well worth it! Spf too, yay! Did I mention the compact is absolutely adorable, all the way down to the hot pink sponge??? A+

Tinted Moisturizer -Kiss My Face - Tinted Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 9/11/2010 6:29:00 PM

I bought this in "Sisal" and it's a perfect match for my med. golden skintone! I tried"Beach" but it's too light/pinky peach. Best drugstore TM I have found, (much better than Physician's Formula Organic Wear TM, Covergirl Smoothers TM, or Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Enhancer, IMO), and excellent for summer or light makeup days. It goes on smoothly, not oily at all...and skins right into the skin. I stipple it onto my skin with a proff. cosmetic wedge, and get a really decent amount of coverage for a TM. It works very well with my oily skin, and gives me a beautiful matte finish, something all other TM's have failed to do. I just apply some concealer over any "spots" I might have, and then set it with a translucent powder and my face looks flawless and natural, it lasts all day, and does not oxidize at all. Best of all, it does not settle into my pores after a few hours like all foundations seem to do. It's cheap too, for less than $10.00, you get 1.4oz, whereas most foundation are only 1oz. And if you buy this online at LuckyVitamin.com, you can get if for around 5 bucks! If you can find a color match, it's an excellent product!

Masks -Freeman - Pure Ambition Purifying Facial Clay mask with Avocado and Oatmeal
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 9/11/2010 12:28:00 AM

This along with Queen Helene's Mint Julep mask are my all time faves for controlling my oily skin! It smells great, is really creamy, but dries quickly. If you look at the ingredients you will find them to be quite harmless, no irritating oils like clove, and no menthol. Really helps keep my complexion clear, and absolutely no irritation. And it's cheap! What more could you want from a mask???

Tinted Moisturizer -Clearasil - Adult Care Tinted Cream
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 9/8/2010 12:02:00 AM

I have battled breakouts since my early teens, and I have used a lot of benz. peroxide and salycilic acid products, but I had never tried any sulfur based products. Let me just say, this stuff is amazing! I don't even need foundation anymore, this actually makes my oily skin matte, and poreless looking, while controlling breakouts! The tint is light, so I just put on a little bronzer and I'm good to go. The scent is actually a plus, because it smells nothing like sulfur...more like a floral scent, which can get annoying, but it sure beats the alternative (sulfur typically smells like rotten eggs!). Wish they sold this in larger tubes, as I use a thin layer all over my face daily, as preventative care, so I run out fast! Great product!

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Oil Free Foaming Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 8/30/2010 5:52:00 PM

This is a great cleanser if you have oily, breakout prone skin. It has the ingredient Triclosan in it which helps kills bacteria, and is a great product to add into an overall skincare routine (salycilic acid and bp are a must for breakouts). Also, this removes makeup really well and doesn't leave any residue on the skin. It has a very faint, but pleasent scent, and a little goes a very long way! I love it!

Toners -Neutrogena - Acne Stress Control Triple-Action Toner
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 8/26/2010 9:45:00 PM

My favorite toner ever! PH is low enough to allow exfoliation, which in turn helps clear and prevent breakouts! Smells wonderful, and no irritation or stinging whatsoever. I do wish this contained less alcohol, but then again I hate the way alcohol free toners leave my face still feeling oily and sticky. One of the best at the drugstore!

Pressed Powders -New York Color - Pressed Face Powder
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 8/26/2010 7:24:00 PM

I am an extremely oily skinned gal, who for the time being has given up liquid foundations. I finally have my once blemish prone skin under control, and just want a sheer matte finish. Enter this cheap lil powder in Warm Beige. It has a really light finish, that seems to blur imperfections and gives my oily skin a really beautiful airbrushed matte finish. I will add that I buy a package of puffs from the drugstore to replace the ridiculous one this powder comes with, and that might make a huge difference. Otherwise, this powder is one of the very best, it's so finely milled and silky, yet manages to mattify while never looking cakey, even with many touchups. I own many pressed powders, including Mac Blot, and I like this one the very best!

Liquid -Cover Girl - TruBlend
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 8/1/2010 7:08:00 PM

This is my current fave liquid makeup, and I own MANY both high and low end, so that's saying a lot! I usually just stick with tinted moisturizers because I like to look natural, and most foundations slide off my oily skin, but this foundation looks so natural, it sort of melds into the skin, and it holds up all day on my very oily tzone. I'm about a MAC NC40, and I use #4 Warm Beige and it's a perfect color match. I work for a cosmetic brand, and was putting this on at work, and all the cosmetic girls I work with had me put it on them and said they were gonna go buy it, cuz they love it too! So you if you want light, natural looking coverage that lasts, this might be the makeup for you!

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 7/25/2010 8:25:00 PM

I loved this now sadly discontinued tinted moisturizer. I used the medium shade, and my only complaint was that it was too pale for my tanned skin, but I simply set it with a darker powder to compensate. Loved the pump packaging and the scent! Left a really nice finish, and there aren't enough quality TM's available in the drugstore, so I was sad to see this one go! Hopefully Aveeno will bring this one back, with more shade options :-)

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 7/20/2010 10:09:00 PM

I was at Sephora, and decided to give this a try, mainly because the shade "Caramel" seemed to be a perfect color match for my tanned skin...and it is! I like this because it's easy to blend, has good coverage for a TM, and as I already mentioned, it's a perfect color match! It's oil-free, and not nearly as greasy as a lot of TM's which works well for my combo/oily skin type. I would describe the finish as satin matte. The price tag does make me cringe, but I will most likely repurchase when I use my current tube up. But you do get 1.7oz, versus the usual 1oz with foundations, so that makes me feel better about he price...slightly, lol!

Hair Color -Clairol - Natural Instincts in 03G Rich Light Golden Blonde
rated 5 of 5
HotCurry 6/4/2010 7:16:00 PM

So I had been a platinum blonde for about a year, and wanted to go back to a natural looking blonde, which as anyone who has been platinum knows achieving a natural shade can be very challenging. I shelled out about $120 for some lowlights and walked out 2.5 hours later with very ashy, almost gray looking hair! So I picked up a couple of boxes of Natural Instincts in their new Honey Creme Rich Light Golden Blonde shade, applied to dry hair, and let it process for 20 minutes. Now I have the shade I originally wanted, it has the highs and lows from my platinum hair and bad lowlight job, but looks rich and natural, and beautiful, as if I had been born with it...o and not a bit of damage or dryness... THANK YOU NATURAL INSTINCTS!
