Mascara -Prestige - My Biggest Lashes
rated 1 of 5
Honeybabe39 5/24/2012 1:46:00 PM

Wow - generally I am not steered wrong, but this mascara was just awful! I think my lashes actually looked shorter after I applied it; it didn't build on my ends at all, it just applied some color near my lash line. I bought the My Longest Lashes also, and I built upon the base from the My Biggest Lashes. Even with both on, I had to apply literally about 10 or so more coats than I do with any other mascara. I had to apply and apply some more to get the lash look I kinda wanted. Only good thing is that there was minimal clumping. Just going to throw this tube away; I guess at least I only wasted $5...

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
rated 4 of 5
Honeybabe39 5/17/2012 8:41:00 PM

This is the newest foundation in the Colorstay line; it's main claim being that it has 24 hour wear and a "bouncy whipped formula that feels ultra light and silky smooth". It comes in a heavy glass jar and weighs in at only .8 fl oz - surprising given the large packaging. The price at Rite Aid was $13.99, but they were having a 40% off Revlon sale, so it was quite a deal. The foundation isn't as thick as I was expecting, it feels very light, soft and smooth and truly seems to blend into the face rather than sit on top of it. Coverage depends on how heavy handed you are with it. I would advise using only a very small amount at first - you really do not need a lot to acheive a beautiful medium coverage finish - and building in layers on the areas that need a little more coverage. I used my fingers to apply and I think that's what really allows this makeup to seemingly melt into skin. With Colorstay pressed powder over it and Photoready Primer under, I am looking fresh and shine free for about 4-5 hrs (I am quite oily), but all I have to do is blot and my makeup still looks great for about 8-10 hrs, which isn't bad, but nowhere near 24 hrs! The shades are quite limited right now; I am tan so I got the darkest option, Medium Beige and it works wonderfully. It has a very nice neutral undertone - no pink or orange cast to it at all, so it looks very natural on. This is hands down the most luxe feeling foundation at the drugstore, and it also performs well - I would highly reccommend trying it. Only gripe is that a squeeze tube would be the best packaging option.

Fragrances -LUSH - Gorilla Perfume - Lust
rated 5 of 5
Honeybabe39 3/31/2012 9:37:00 PM

I bought the small vial on vacation and am absolutely repurchasing the large bottle when I run out. This scent is amazing - everything I have been looking for in a perfume - it is like they read my mind! Such a sexy, sophisticated scent that lasts and lasts. When I spray it behind my ears I find myself shaking my head to get wafts of the lovely scent. Jasmine is listed as the first scented ingredient, followed by Ylang Ylang, Rose, Vanilla, and Sandalwood. I am a perfume hoarder, always buying new scents then abandoning them for the next one that tickles my fancy, but this one is my favorite EVER! I didn't notice that it sprayed red, so I haven't had any problems with that.

Palettes -Tarte - Tarte for True Blood
rated 5 of 5
Honeybabe39 1/15/2012 3:35:00 PM

I bought this palette on sale from Sephora for $29. It has 17 gorgeous, generously sized eyeshadows, a small primer and mascara and a full sized eyeliner. The products come housed in a small box with corset detailing; it is adorable. The shadows are mostly very shimmery so this is a set that is best saved for nighttime or dramatic looks. There is a small amount of glitter fallout with the shadows, but it is not bad. For reference, Urban Decay's glitter shadows (esp Sidecar) have considerably more fallout. If you put the shadows on wet it gives almost a foiled look that is beautiful. The Deluxe Lifted primer that came in my set was very dry; I think it might be old, but again, the reason to buy this palette is for the shadows. The mascara works beautifully and I have yet to try the eyeliner. The price for the liner alone is $18. Add that to the price of $1.70 per eyeshadow (wet and wild isn't even that cheap!) and it is an amazing value. I would highly recommend picking this up before it is gone!

Hair Removal -eos - Lavender Jasmine Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream
rated 1 of 5
Honeybabe39 8/6/2011 6:02:00 PM

This is the worst shaving cream I have ever used. The formula might be moisturizing, but having mineral oil and petrolatum high on the list of ingredients only makes for a clogged razor. I'm surprised no one else experienced this. I used this shaving cream with a brand new razor and before I was even done with one leg my razor was completely dull and visibly clogged with dead skin hairy slime. I had to jump out of the shower, grab a new razor and my bf's shaving cream so I could finish the job. Gillette Fusion shave cream is my favorite of those available at the drugstore. If you are looking for a quality foam free shave that's highly moisturizing, I would try Coochy. It is great and never leaves my razor dull! The EOS shaving cream is quite a waste of money, considering the razor cartridge I ruined...

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
rated 3 of 5
Honeybabe39 3/16/2011 7:00:00 PM

I was really dissapointed with this mascara. My main problem with it is that it smells like it's gone rancid and the smell lingers. It gives decent lashes. They are kind of full and the separation is good, but it needs a lot of coats to be dramatic. All in all just a lackluster product. I use the falsies mascara and the results are much better. This is definitely a mascara for a daytime look, but I prefer one that lengthens more.

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - Malibu - Hemp Golden Glow Bronzing Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
Honeybabe39 5/20/2010 1:39:00 AM

I love this product! I am not really a fan of self tanners as they are a lot of work to put on, can fade wierdly, and worst of all is the smell! This formula is the best self tanner I've ever used, and I have tried many, from the high end to low. I regularly go tanning, but I try to supplement it with self tanner so that I don't have to go as often, so I'm starting with a decently dark base color. After one use, my skintone looks much more even and a little darker. I use this maybe once every 2-3 days in the summer to even out my color and get a little darker, and it looks so natural! The best part of the product is that you don't have to put in all the work of a regular self tanner. If you don't exfoliate before you use it, it won't streak or come off quicker. You can apply it just like a regular moisturizer without worrying about looking streaky. I have very dry skin and it actually moisturizes fantastically! It also hasn't caused any chest or back acne, which I sometimes have problems with. And best of all - it doesn't smell! Woohoo!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic Explosion
rated 4 of 5
Honeybabe39 11/4/2009 2:08:00 PM

I collect tons of mascaras, so it has to be a really exceptional one for me to write a review for it. Telescopic Explosion is a drugstore version of Givenchy's Phenomen'eyes, and it's about $20 cheaper. I have been waiting for a knockoff since Phenomen'eyes debuted, so I was very excited to try this! The spherical wand is very different, but it is easy to use and provides amazing results. The L'Oreal packaging doesn't really give good hints on how to use this, so I will paraphrase the advice given from Givenchy's site: When applying this mascara, don't hold it horizontally as you would a regular wand. It should be held vertically, at a diagonal angle, in order to catch the roots of the lashes then swipe upwards and outwards. Move along the whole eye swiping up and out. Then gently brush acoss the lower lashes. This takes maybe 30 seconds more than traditional mascara application, but is soooo worth it! You will also probably need a good metal eyelash comb to wipe away any clumps. The clumpiness of the mascara is the only reason I did not give it a 5, but I find I don't mind having to brush out my lashes because the results are so intense. My lashes have never, ever looked longer, plus the formula stays put all day without flaking or smearing and can be removed easily without a separate eye makeup remover! For a daytime look, I would recommend wiping the brush before applying. I don't know if it's the formula or the brush that makes this mascara so amazing, but whatever it is, I'm sold!

Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - 14% AHA Swipes
rated 4 of 5
Honeybabe39 5/29/2009 2:32:00 PM

I have been using Alph Hydrox products for about 2 months now. I use the Foaming face wash in the am and pm, I alternate nights using the 14% swipes and 10% enhanced lotion, and I occassionally use the 8% cream during the day. I started using these products to help with my acne, but I cannot say I have noticed much improvement there. What I have noticed the most is that all of the fine lines I used to have on my forehead are completely gone. This is amazing to me, esp. because it wasn't what I was using the products for, but I am very happy with the wrinkle reduction! I am going to continue to use and hope that my acne clears up as time goes by. I have used some peel pads in the past, Good Skin and Avon, and I was looking forward to trying these as they have more active ingredient in them and seem to be well formulated so that they work well. The swipes come in a little jar that is very plain and not that "professional" looking, but I don't care about packaging if the product works. The first couple times I used them there was a little tingling, but nothing bad. I usually wait about 15 mins after applying and then moisturize (w/o rinsing first). I do notice a brightening in my complexion now that the initial flakiness is over. I rarely need to use a manual scrub to exfoliate anymore. These have never caused irritation or redness. I just wish they'd help with my acne... Price is $16.99 for 24 swipes, which is very reasonable. Sometimes the Neoteric website runs buy one get one 50% off deals, which is great. I wish they'd make the packaging just a lil nicer, maybe with the instructions on it...

Cleansers -Alpha Hydrox - Foaming Face Wash
rated 4 of 5
Honeybabe39 5/29/2009 2:23:00 PM

I have been using Alph Hydrox products for about 2 months now. I use the Foaming face wash in the am and pm, I alternate nights using the 14% swipes and 10% enhanced lotion, and I occassionally use the 8% cream during the day. This is a very simple cleanser. I don't think it really does anything to improve the appearance of my skin, but I don't look to cleansers to do anything more than clean my skin and take off my makeup. It does a good job cleansing, leaving my skin feeling comfortable, not oily or too dry. I was using Clinique's Liquid Facial Soap Mild, but bought this to go along with my Alpha Hydrox regimen as it is supposed to "prepare" the skin for the ahas. I think they are quite similiar in how they clean the skin without stripping. Price is $6.99 for 6 oz., which is a great deal. I have purchased through the Neoteric website, and have lucked out to find it at TJ Maxx for $3.99, also. Any one looking for a no frills cleanser that gets the job done will probably be happy with this.

I lucked out and found some at TJ Maxx for $4.99. Packaging is simple, but good. No offensive smell. I also use this after shaving my bikini area. It has been wonderful for keeping the bumps away!

Liquid -Fusion Beauty - BioActive Mineral Intuitive Soft Focus Fluid Foundation SPF10
rated 3 of 5
Honeybabe39 2/24/2009 10:20:00 PM

I, too, picked up this foundation at TJ Maxx for $12.99, along with the moisturizer ($14.99) and the powder ($12.99). I would never pay retail for this - it is still being sold for $56 on the Fusion Beauty website - but at $12.99, I am glad I tried it. The bottle is really neat; you twist the top of the tube and the pump swivels up (I have had no problems with the pump as previous reviewers have). It does come out purpleish-gray in color, and going off the Fusion Beauty website instructions, I rubbed a couple pumps into my fingertips to activate the color first (it does turn into a beige color) then I applied it to my face. Could have been the rubbing prior to applying, but the texture was a little dry and hard to blend. It left a couple streaks on my face I remedied with a spritz of Evian, something I never have to do even with long-wearing foundations! The shade (I bought Medium-Dark) matches perfectly with my skin tone and does not change color throughout the day. The oil control is decent, it keeps me shine free for about 3 hours. I was expecting shimmery, crappy coverage based on the reviews, but I was happy to find neither! I saw no shimmer in the foundation, it dried to a very matte finish. The coverage was great for what I need. I'd say it was slightly less than medium coverage; covered almost all my flaws. I am giving it 3 lippies because I am not impressed by the oil control, the streaking is a problem, and I did not like the dry feeling it gave my face. ...Listing that makes me wonder why I gave it even 3 lippies, but I think the formula is innovative and am hoping it helps my skin some. Primer/ Corrector -Boots - Mattifying Make-up Base
rated 1 of 5
Honeybabe39 2/4/2009 8:15:00 PM

This was just a total waste of $10. I bought this because Paula Begoun rated it highly, and her review says it's a very good option for oily to very oily skin. I have very oily skin, and it is NOT what I would consider a good option, or even mediocre. My skin actually got oilier quicker when I used this. As a primer, it's just awful - it makes my makeup look worse. It is thick, but I could rub it in okay, and when I used my foundation over it, it looked clumpy and bad. I used this about 5 times to see if it'd get any better, but no luck. This truly has no redeeming qualities other than that it did not break me out.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rated 3 of 5
Honeybabe39 1/17/2009 2:45:00 PM

This is a very good drug store foundation, but it isn't the best choice for oily skin. I was very excited because the first shade I bought, medium 2.5, was a perfect match for my skin and blended in flawlessly. I had no problems with it turning orange or darker throughout the day, either. It gave me an extremely natural no makeup look while covering a lot of my imperfections. I didn't need concealer for the blemishes on my face, which is rare. I would give this a higher rating except it did not hold back my oilies longer than a couple hours. I prefer a foundation that helps keep me matte longer. Other than that, if you have normal skin, I would recommend this product.

Treatments -John Frieda - Luminous Color Glaze
rated 4 of 5
Honeybabe39 10/30/2008 9:03:00 PM

I decided to try this before I shelled out the $28 for Fekkais new glaze, and I'm glad I did. Despite the negative reviews I love this, and I am on my second bottle. I use the clear version. I put this in daily after shampooing and conditioning and leave it in for a couple minutes. It rinses away very easily and leaves my hair feeling very smooth, but not coated with product. Once a week I use it as a treatment and I put it in my dry hair and leave it for 20 mins or more. The results were not very noticeable for the first week, but the more I use it, the easier my hair is to manage and it is sooooo soft when dry. There is also added shine, but not a whole lot unfortunately - I still use a serum to make my hair glossy. (This is why I didn't give 5 lippies.) What I love about this is that my hair, which can be unruly and frizzy is now so sleek and under control. My skin breaks out easily from hair products, especially silicone heavy ones, but so far there's no backne. Also, my scalp gets oily easily, but this does not make it oily, even when applied directly to my scalp. And, best of all, this really has cut down on the time I have to blow dry. Don't know why, but it does. I buy this for $8.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond. One bottle lasted me about 3 weeks, which isn't long, but I use it daily on my semi thick, medium length hair. I will probably try the Fekkai to see if it glosses better, but for now I am very happy with this product.
