Scrubs -Shiseido - Pureness Pore Purifying Warming Scrub
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 5/13/2013 1:33:00 AM

So surprised to see the negative reviews on this product! I have used this off and on for years on my stubborn nose area. My pores are large and clog easily, most products do not make a visible difference at all. This product warms up and feels good when massaging in. I love that it works gently and without irritation. I notice a visible difference immediately and I find it effective as well.

Tinted Moisturizer -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer - Buff
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 12/15/2012 12:46:00 AM

I love this TM! The finish is more opaque than most other TM's I've used in the past. The feel is still light, easy to blend and the color Buff worked well for my skin. A far as wear is concerned it lasts until I take it off and the feel on my skin is like nothing at all. My skin doesn't feel tacky, over moisturized or dry. If anything, this TM is more like a light weight foundation. I love the packaging and it is super portable and great for carrying around for emergencies! I would recommend this TM for anyone who needs a little more coverage with pretty normal skin type. I have already went back to purchase backups:). Until now Hard Candy was my fave LE TM and Shiseido was my fave HE TM. Like aka235 below, im Asian and this shade works well on me.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair
rated 1 of 5
Hisoneandonly 12/12/2012 9:09:00 PM

This was so awful! I expect that I wont like the way products perform, or that some products just aren't for me but this was so opposite of what it should be. A dry shampoo that sprays wet, leaves residue you can feel and see, and feels heavy is worse than the hair it is supposed to "fix". I would rather wash as there is nothing refreshing about this product. I used on hair that was unwashed for two days and fortunate that I tried this before bed so no one else has to see it. I will be washing in the a.m. And repurchasing my trusty Suave Keratin infused dry shampoo, this one is the worst I've tried:(

Other -Unlisted Brand - Emjoi Gently Gold Caress Epilator
rated 4 of 5
Hisoneandonly 11/12/2012 4:43:00 PM

My epilator doesn't say "Gold" in the product name, I didn't see this listed so I am placing my review here incase this is a newer model, mine has 36 tweezer discs, for reference. I have very coarse and abundant body hair, it is dark and I am fairly light, visible even AFTER a daily shave. If I shave in the a.m. and need to go somewhere bare legged late afternoon / evening, I typically shave again. I need min. four blades on a razor, I go back and forth between brands trying to find the perfect close shave. Between the cost, time, and prep this beauty ritual to be the most oppressive I endure, by far. I wanted to use an epilator after seeing several YT vids on the subject. My goals are to achieve hairfree legs that are fairly easy to maintain in between various hair growth cycles (unlike waxing), eliminate the dark shadow of growth visible from the surface of my skin, stop dropping money on razors, refills, shaving creams, water from lengthy showers and most importantly stop spending the amount of time needed to achieve results that were barely satisfactory! I took a hot shower, lathered up real good and exfoliated. There are two settings, I quickly realized using the quicker of the two was easier to handle. It will feel like rapid small rubber band snaps but it wasn't unbearable, just uncomfortable. I could only do my legs. Fast forward to the next day. I repeat the prep and use the unit on whats remaining on my legs, it doesn't feel so bad, maybe because I know what to expect. I even got the top of my feet / toes and around my ankles. I got my thigh area which I only shave once every 1 - 2 weeks and I could BARELY feel anything. I had to check to see if anything was being removed! Once I did my entire thigh area I went over my knees, carefully, keeping my skin taut around corners. My underarms were less painful than the bottom portion of my legs. I was surprised since I felt very timid about epilating there. However, several YT users reported their skintone improved as result of stubble not being visible. The awkward part is positioning the unit. Overall, I am pleased with the results so far. I feel like for the amount of hair I have, I could have used an epilator with more power / speed but I just made more passes and it took longer - I will still save time on my shower and daily hair removal routine so, not a total loss. I did have to clean the area of my bathroom floor where I epilated - it was then I noticed that majority of hairs were same length - as in yanked out by the root! For anyone cosidering epilating, I have had a good experience with Emjoi Soft Caress. I'm giving it an overall rating of 4, I may bump that up depending on my next several sessions. I want to see how my hair grows back and ensure that ingrowns don't rear their ugly head. Unlike other reviewers, my hair came out by the root - it was neat to see how uniformly this epilator worked! Price point good considering the cost of hair removal over the long run. Packaging quality is a five and on that note, I already forsee that traveling will be much easier without having to carry a razor, travel shave creams, etc.! Just charge this baby up, place it in the bag it comes with, toss into carry-on bag and go! Update: I am used to using my Emjoi now, I have a few ingrowns on my legs but I get them from shaving too, mine are easy to see and usually just require the tip of a tweezer to free them. I am still satisfied with my Emjoi and prefer this over shaving any day!

Cleansers -Physicians Formula - Wrinkle Corrector and Firming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 10/11/2012 10:18:00 PM

Physicians Formula Wrinkle Corrector and Firming Cleanser Formula RX 101 is the best cleanser I've used in a long time. I got mine at Ulta (I don't recall the price). The cosmeceutical ingredients are listed on the front of the container I have and claims to have AHA, Laminaria Algae Complex and Hydrolyzed Pea Peptide Blend. I can tell a difference in the feel of my skin using this cleanser, during the cleanse the soft texture melts my makeup away without irritating my eyes, the gentle scent is pleasant and claming and rinses clean away when I'm done. The best part is that afterward my skin feels clean and the texture is so incredibly soft without feeling any greasy pore clogging residue. My main skincare concerns are texture, tone, fine lines and moisture. I feel like this cleanser helps with all of these areas. I like the pump dispenser, the amount of cleanser - at 5 oz. is decent and I can get this at Ulta. For reference, I mainly use Cetaphil or Aveeno cleansers, and have several others that I bring in depending on my skincare needs at the moment. I dont dislike Cetaphil but it doesn't really rinse completely away on me like PF does. Of all the cleansers I have most are missing one key element to being a "must have" or HG status cleanser - PF is pretty close! Time will tell, hopefully they won't change the formula and continue to offer this lineup or at the very least this cleanser. I recommend anyone with similiar skincare concerns looking for an all around great cleanser to try this one at the time I purchased mine Ulta was running a promo BOGO 1/2 off - I wish I would have grabbed two of these instead of the moisturizer. This cleanser is a five all the way around and a star in my routine - no matter what else is in my rotation I want this to always be present for duty!

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Lavender Hand Cream
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/26/2012 11:29:00 AM

My mitts are so dry that it hurts. Constant handwashing with antibacterial soaps has made it a chore to constantly apply lotions - when I do they are typically greasy, have unpleasant fragrance or disappear along with the moisture as soon as it is absorbed. I love L'Occitane Lavender Hand Cream for absorbing in fast, leaving my hands feeling and looking moisturized, and smelling nice. This hand cream is one of a select few I think are worth a try if you are super picky.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Brule
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/25/2012 8:07:00 PM

This e/s is always on standby! Brule works as my highlight majority of the time, I like it for when I want a more skin toned look. Such a staple for low maintenance, fuss free e/s looks. I'm reaching for it more since I'm liking matte highlights much more these days. I would repuchase this shade for me it is almost a perfect match to my actual skin.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Tangle Teezer
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/21/2012 6:34:00 PM

Tangle Teezer $11.99 at Sally Beauty Supply. After seeing the raves I figured I would give Tangle Teezer a try. My hair is med / long, and mixed texture. There is a new model out that has a handle, I am reviewing the original TT without handle. After I shampoo and conditioned my hair I ran the TT through and (like another reviewer noted) it sliced through like butter! I didn't use more conditioner than usual, the TT did all the work:) I liked the feeling that my hair was being coated throughly with conditioner while I was detangling. When I used a combo shampoo / conditioner it took a little more work but still, TT wins over hairbrush hands down! I would not recommend using this on hair my length without conditioner. The best thing about TT is that after I step out of the shower no additional combing is needed. No leave in conditioner and detangling combs anymore! To keep from clogging my drain in the shower I hold my hair as I go through it, this also keeps the hair off of my body (i hate the feeling of stray hairs!). I typically shed a lot of hair when I brush (I only brush after washing), my DH jokes that a rat is in the garbage bin when I clean out my hairbrush! I haven't noticed I lose less hair than I normally do, but I have noticed that I feel better when using TT to detangle. I don't hear snaps and don't see breakage (so important since I am prone to breakage along the front of my head). I'm glad I don't have to use an excess amount of conditioner just to get a brush through my hair as well. Not only is that costly but it builds up over time. Also, being able to detangle in the shower has been nice. In the past I would use a wide tooth comb to detangle while in the shower since a hairbrush isn't designed to sit in the shower soaking wet. I love the design of TT and that it is so easy to clean and that I can keep it in my shower. All in all, this is a great product that I would have mistakenly walked right past thinking it was gimmick-y. Must have for longer hair!

Hair Styling Tools -Earth Therapeutics - Quick Dry Hair Towel
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/21/2012 5:28:00 PM

I purchased the Earth Therapeutics Quick Dry Hair Turban from Ulta retails for $12.99, but I got $3.50 off $10 purchase w/ a coupon. There is the towel that looks like a standard towel, and turban - this review is for the turban style with button closure. Just so there is no confusion:) I would definately repurchase, this towel is thirsty! I could tell a difference after the first time using it and I feel the price is much better than buying blow dry sprays that promise to cut down drying time. If you are curious if this will work for you, here are some more details below about my hair. WARNING - long review. I have med/long, mixed texture hair. I am not one of those that can just air dry, my hair needs something done to it or I look crazy. I washed and conditioned as usual, used my Tangle Teaser while still in the shower, squeezed excess water out and did a quick squeeze with my bath towel. This is the part where I normally wait it out as long as possible air drying. Instead, I place my hair into the turban, buttoned it up and chilled out. I'm always the one with the "big head" in photos so I feel the need to address the fit as I see a few others had issues - I had no problem getting my head into this turban and had ample space for my hair too. I didn't feel discomfort while wearing and never did need to readjust. First impression was that this beats the alternative of using a regular towel. My hair is too long for a small towel, but a larger towel is ackward to wear, can feel heavy and doesn't actually "absorb" water. I actually felt the turban sop up the excess water off my hair! The first time I used it, I just used it to speed up my natural drying. It was comfortable to wear and unlike a bath towel turban I was able to wear this while getting myself ready with no problem. It was like wearing a ball cap, it wasn't noticeable. The second time came the true test, I intended to blow dry and style my hair. I use a 2" metal round brush and my trusty Revlon dryer (I believe I've reviewed it as well). I noticed my hair was equally and evenly damp all over and this is a HUGE PLUS - my hair drying unevenly is a big problem since my layers underneath tend to be too wet and I tire of drying (I have carpal tunnel), when the top layers dry too fast I end up overheating them and inviting frizz. NO BUENO:( I left the towel on around 15-20 mins and began my drying routine without any additional product and I was able to get an *almost* salon result. Once I started drying I was able to put my round brush in and immediately aim my nozzle down and at most go over it *quickly* at most 2-3 runs! (I just want to add that at the end of each blow dry session I use cold setting to seal my style). My hair is still laying right almost 2 days later without any touch ups! I love when I find something that works, I will not be without this towel! I plan to re-purchase so that I can have one for when I travel, and get back ups just in case! I agonized over whether I should try this and now I can't think of the last time a product made me so happy. It is more cost effective than using additional hair product and if you are like me and dislike walking around wet headed this product will save you so much time and grief getting that salon look blowout wihtout hair damage, tired hands/wrists and also no sweating under a hot hair dryer forever right after your shower!

Pressed Powders -L.A. Colors - Pressed Powder
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/21/2012 1:45:00 PM

LA Colors is not a brand that I would ever look at if it weren't for MUA, I'm always looking for pressed powder so after seeing the reviews for this - I had to try it. I have the shade Beige, purchased at Dollar Tree for $1. Applied first thing in the morning on top of my TM - this powder lasted all day, no touch ups! The color match was close enough (AAB w/ fair skin). There was decent coverage and the texture worked on my skin. The sponge that it comes with feels like TP, the compact is cheap and no one is going to envy you for using LA Colors BUT who cares! Seriously, I've paid much, much more and got less in return! I'm definately re-purchasing

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Studio Line Single in Pebble
rated 3 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/18/2012 11:45:00 PM

Pebble is a nice neutral shade in my collection. Nothing about it is spectacular in and of itself, but it does what it does nicely. When I need something neutral that is a medium intensity this shadow does the trick - no brainer. One thing I didn't expect is how nice of a brow powder Pebble would be. On my black, sparse and scraggly brows Pebble provides just the right amount of shadow behind to fill in without overpowering or looking artificial like most pencils (mine are just too overplucked to use a pencil without it being really obvious). I am happy with the versatility of this e/s.

Polishes -Milani - Jewel FX Gems
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/6/2012 5:59:00 PM

Pretty and fun on its own, or on top of another shade. Milani n/p is inexpensive but I still wait for sales since I usually stock up. I like to see the glitter "gems" so it helps that the brush is on the smaller side and doesn't lay them all down at once. I would repurchase:)

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush in Candid Coral
rated 3 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/6/2012 5:44:00 PM

All of the E.L.F. Studio Blushes are very pretty in the pan, Candid Coral being no exception, it is beautiful in the pan and on my skin, the application was pretty smooth and there was fairly decent pigmentation. I was super excited to try Candid Coral but it (and the others) did not work for me. It looked nice until midday and then started to fade away, gradually as the day went on. I would not repurchase because I do not normally touch up my face makeup - a cheek color that lasts until I remove it is a requirement for me.

Powders -Smashbox - Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder
rated 5 of 5
Hisoneandonly 9/6/2012 5:34:00 PM

Lasts all day over my makeup, doesn't settle into fine lines as much as most other powders do and looks natural. I prefer a happy medium between dewy and matte and Smashbox Halo definately fits the bill. I've noticed that the finish is nice no matter what type of foundation I have on underneath, expensive but I would definately repurchase!

Blush -NYX - Cinnamon
rated 4 of 5
Hisoneandonly 8/22/2012 6:38:00 PM

I agonized over whether to purchase this shade or not because I am trying to get through my stash but I finally broke down since I don't have another shade like Cinnamon. I am fair skinned, NC 30 at my darkest, and I am very anemic so I tend to need a little (okay, a lot) of brightening. Highly pigmented and unique colors are a win for me and NYX Cinnamon is both! I took one lippie off for gradual fading late in the afternoon. Applied with my Eco Tools blush brush, I instantly fell in love - it is noticeable, bright and gorgeous without being obnoxious, garish or plain. Nothing to dislike here:)
