Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Crush
rated 4 of 5
Heyyeyy05 1/25/2011 2:04:00 PM

Love the formulation, texture, and wear of this lipstick. Not so crazy about the colour. While I do love the colour itself, it just doesnt look right on me. I think if I were a tad fairer, or had darker hair it might look better, but i have a medium complexion with yellow undertones, and light blonde hair, and I feel that this just washes me out. Will repurchase from this line, just not this colour.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
rated 2 of 5
Heyyeyy05 1/18/2011 10:59:00 AM

This mascara is nothing special. I have naturally long and relatively thick lashes, and this mascara made it look like I have less lashes than I actually do. It does lengthen, but it gives absolutely NO volume (in my case it actually seemed to decrease the volume). I bought this mascara because I found the advertised "black patent shine" quality rather enticing, but I noticed no such shine. Worst of all is the smell.. weird and chemical and not something you want around your eye area. Won't repurchase.

Awesome black nail polish. Super opaque, super shiny finish (even without a top coat), I've had no issue with chipping, and the best part is it's only $1.99 (in Canada)!! you can't beat that!

Liquid -Revlon - Beyond Natural Skin Matching Makeup SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
Heyyeyy05 1/11/2011 10:44:00 AM

Okay, so first things first.. I freakin' love this stuff! It feels light as air, gives me just the right amount of coverage (I don't need very much coverage, just slight blotchiness on my cheeks), and I think it actually makes my skin look better at the end of the day when i remove it (perhaps the SPF at work?). I have this in light/medium and this colour works year-round for me- how great is that?! I don't know how it works, but it matches my skin exactly both when I'm at my fairest, and tannest. My only gripes with this product are the price and the packaging. At $14.99 Cdn. this is one of the pricier foundations available at my local drugstores, but for me it really is worth it. I also don't really like the packaging as when the product starts getting low it begins leaking into the cap, which wastes a bit of product. Overall I love this product, and will repurchase over and over again!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
rated 4 of 5
Heyyeyy05 1/11/2011 10:30:00 AM

I actually really like this mascara. For reference, I have naturally long, relatively full lashes, but I am also a natural blond and the tips of my lashes are almost white. The main thing I love about this mascara is the color- this is the BLACKEST of black, and no other black mascara I've tried, be it "blackest black" or "very black" etc. has come close as far as darkness. I also like the formulation, although it is necessary to scrape some of the excess product off into the tube before applying, because it will clump. It is rather wet, but unlike other reviewers I have had no problem with smudging or smearing. It is very buildable, and I haven't noticed any flaking whatsoever, but I have the non-waterproof version so this may be why. Also, this is one of, if not THE cheapest mascara available here in Canada ($6.95 at Walmart). Finally, the only issue I have with this mascara is the fact that it is so damn hard to remove. Even with makeup remover I have to devote a good 10-15 minutes to scraping this stuff off my eyes, and I usually end up with red eyelids, so I usually only use this mascara when I want a really dramatic look, and stick to my lashblast the rest of the time. Will definitely repurchase!

Lip Treatments -Nivea - Light Kiss
rated 4 of 5
Heyyeyy05 9/23/2010 10:06:00 AM

I agree with many of the other reviewers in that this is a terrible lip balm. But I don't use it as a lip balm- I use it as a lip exfoliator/ prep before applying lipstick or gloss, and it serves this purpose wonderfully! It does have a very gritty texture, which is strange since it is marketed as a balm, and it can be milky in appearance when it is initially applied. I simply apply it and then use my finger to rub it in my lips in little circles until the grit disappears. I then blot off any excess and move on to lipstick or gloss. I will definitely repurchase this, but if you are looking for a lip balm I would steer clear of this one.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color
rated 5 of 5
Heyyeyy05 9/23/2010 9:58:00 AM

I can't get over the bad reviews for this nailpolish. This stuff is amazing!! yes, the brush is fatter than most, but if you remove any excess polish and press firmly down on your nail, all you need is one swipe and your done! and best of all it dries in less than a minute, and only requires one coat. ONE coat!! I paint my nails religiously, and I have never come across a polish that only requires one coat- even my more expensive Essie and OPI polishes require 2+ coats, and they take ages to dry also. I work in a bakery, and we are not allowed to have nail polish on while working, so this stuff is perfect for me because I can painting my nails is no longer an arduous ordeal that requires so much time that I hate to undo all my hard work by taking it off for work. Love it!! I am going to buy more and more and more!!!

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rated 1 of 5
Heyyeyy05 9/10/2010 11:48:00 AM

This was the first foundation I have ever tried, and it will probably be my last. I don't really have a problem with my skin, and I've made it through 24 years of life au naturale, so I don't know what I was thinking when I purchased this product. I didn't even notice much of a difference once I applied it, but like many other reviewers mentioned, by the end of the day my face was a complete oil slick, and I have never had oily skin (in fact, I would classify my skin as DRY, and this still made me oily). Also, once I removed it at the end of the day my cheeks were all splotchy, and my skintone was far more uneven than it was in the morning before applying. This will be going in the trash. UPDATE: I gave this foundation another chance, and actually found a way to make it work. First, I waited until the weather cooled down here in Nova Scotia Canada (we were in the middle of a heat wave when I purchased this), and the issue I had with the grease factor was eliminated. Second, I started mixing a tiny bit of this foundation with my moisturizer and used it as a tinted moisturizer, and I noticed that my skin wasn't nearly as uneven at the end of the day as it was using the foundation alone. I still find this foundation makes me break out slightly at times, so I won't be repurchasing, but at least I've found a way to use up the bottle I have, so I didn't waste my money.

Blush -New York Color - Color Wheel Mosaic Powder Pink Cheek Glow
rated 4 of 5
Heyyeyy05 9/9/2010 1:45:00 PM

Overall I really like this blush. I have been a devoted physician's formula user for several years now, but the price of their products has been steadily increasing for several years now here in Canada (it runs about $18 Cdn. regular price), and I can't seem to justify spending that much on a drugstore product, however great it might be. I find the formulation of this blush almost exact, if not better than, the physicians formula mosaic blush, although I must admit the color payoff of the NYC color wheel blush is actually better. I was also surprised to find that the NYC color wheel contains more than the physicians formula blush, and it is one quarter of the price!! My only complaint about this product, like many other reviewers have mentioned, it the packaging, which is thin and cheap plastic which will definitely crack long before the product is gone. However, I have had problems with physician's formula's packaging as well- the flip top always ends up breaking off, so I am accustomed to storing my blush in a tupperware container after this point anyways.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Nude Attitude
rated 1 of 5
Heyyeyy05 8/25/2010 4:14:00 PM

I absolutely hate this lipstick. It is super drying, and I don't usually have a problem with dry lips, but this turns my lips into a peeling mess after just one application. The color isn't the greatest either- a tad too tangerine for my tastes. Overall this lipstick is a big thumbs down for me, the only place this lipstick belongs is in the trash.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - HIP Jelly Balm [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
Heyyeyy05 8/25/2010 4:11:00 PM

I just purchased L'Oreal's H.I.P. jelly balm in delectable, and I do like this product, but it is not the best tinted balm I have tried (my favorite being Joe Fresh's tinted lip balm stick, which is only available in Canada). First off, I love the color. Delectable is a sheer pinkish red which is really pretty and natural looking, almost as if you just ate a cherry popsicle and then slicked on some clear gloss. It also has more of a gloss finish, as previously mentioned, as opposed to the more traditional finish of a balm. Finally, The smell is amazing! it smells like vanilla or caramel or a hybrid of the two-mmm. On the downside, I do find this "balm" quite sticky, which I don't hate, but I don't love either. The price is another downfall; at around 10$ a pop, this balm is pretty pricey for only .158 ounces. Overall, I would re-purchase because I do love the color, but it does not deserve a full five lippies.

Lipstick -Hard Candy - Fire Alarm
rated 5 of 5
Heyyeyy05 8/17/2010 10:43:00 AM

The Walmart in my area just started carrying the Hard Candy line, and this lipstick was my first purchase from the line. I have to say I am incredibly impressed. For $6 Cdn. this lipstick is well worth it. It is very sheer, but buildable, and the colour is the pink-nude i've been searching for! On me, this colour reads more baby pink than nude or beige, but I've always found nudes either too fleshtoned, or orangy, which I find washes me out. It is also the first nude I've found that doesn't require any extra effort to achieve the desired look. It has a glossy finish, and doesn't dry out your lips or settle in the lines. I've also found this relatively long-lasting unlike other reviews i've read, as i've been wearing this for about two hours now and it hasn;t faded yet! Love it!

Lipstick -Revlon - Moon Drops Creme - Blase Apricot 702
rated 5 of 5
Heyyeyy05 6/23/2010 2:47:00 PM

Like all the other reviewers, I absolutely LOVE this colour (Canadian spelling, btw). I agree that this colour is pretty bright, but it is by far the truest coral lipstick I have come across as yet, and it is PERFECT for summer. The texture is smooth and creamy, and can be dabbed on for a sheer flush of colour, or swiped on for a full-on coral lip. I wear this with and without gloss, and either way it still looks beautiful. I got mine on sale for $3.99 Cdn. at a local drugstore, so I hardly broke the bank on this one. I only have two complaints about this lipstick, number one being the smell, two being the packaging. The green tube is pretty tacky and cheap looking, and it has a strange smell to it that I just can't put my finger on. However, the lipstick itself is so great, so I rated this 5 out of 5.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 5 of 5
Heyyeyy05 6/22/2010 10:14:00 AM

I absolutely LOVE this mascara! I have naturally long, thick lashes, and this mascara lengthens them to the point that they are just about touching my eyebrows. I don't notice extensive thickening (not like lashblast), but it really does fan out my lashes creating that false-lash look. My only complaint is that you have to work fast or it will clump, and it does flake, but only after numerous hours. Will definitely repurchase over and over!!

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
Heyyeyy05 6/22/2010 10:09:00 AM

I really like this color, however, the colorburst line just arrived here in Canada in the beginning of June, and at this point I am slightly too dark to pull this off. I love the consistency of this lipstick, but find I really need to build the color to completely mask my fairly pigmented lips. I'll probably have more luck with this shade in the winter when I am at my palest. UPDATE: I've finally reached my palest state, and I have to say this lipstick works much better with my skintone now. I'm still not blown away by it, but atleast I can use up the tube I have. Probably won't repurchase.
