Eye Shadow -MAC - Smut Eyeshadow
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:43:00 AM
I'm positive I only bought this years, and years ago because brittkneegirl1 (or Brittany Balyn on youtube now.) loved and raved of this shadow. To be honest, I fell in love with it for a few months too, but now I rarely reach for this rather sheer dark brown. It is a cool, almost purple tinged brown that is nice to smoke out with but I just have yet to find my hand reaching for it lately. I think it lacks the punchy, pigmented factor and I am positive if you looked in a drugstore, there's probably something lurking in there that can dupe this.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Typographic (from Matte2)
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:40:00 AM
It's almost strange how evident this is not a black when you put it next to a black eyeliner. It is most definitely an extremely dark grey, but if that is what you are looking for, here you go. I do interchange use between this and carbon unless I am really looking for a pitch black look, however the pigmentation of the matte2 can not be wronged. It is a joy to smoke out looks with.

Cleansers -Shiseido - The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:33:00 AM
I went for this on a whim since I can not purchase my favourite (Perfect Whip Foam) here in my country and I rarely enjoy buying online. It did not break out my skin, nor dry it out as much as the Perfect Whip. However, it is quite strong in the fact that it can remove my makeup, which I did not expect it to do as a "gentle cleanser".... I use this with my hands, or with the facial brush from time to time. I've repurchased it as it gave me no problems, however I do miss my Laneige cleansing foam as well. It lasts me a long time and I do like it enough to continue the purchasing since it doesn't give my skin problems. However, don't get it into the eyes accidentally or else you will have red eyes for quite awhile!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Twisted Peppermint Body Splash
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:25:00 AM
I am reviewing the 2012 Christmas seasoned Shimmer mist. I own many various versions from the years before and ... Each year, the scent is tweaked somehow, very slightly in longevity or more sweetness, more mintiness, depending on the variant of the batch. This is actually quite strong, and long lasting on my skin, especially when moisture hits. It's quite startling when I burst into the shower and the scent comes straight up to my nose again. However, I do like the sublety of this scent as it settles on my skin throughout the day. Albeit very sugar and sweet, it is not a sugar-based scent, which I like since many perfumes of that sort usually are cloying (Think Britney Spears Fantasy or the Pink Sugar? Not my taste since I get headaches.) I love this. I might be biased as it is the ONLY other scent I enjoy from BBW other than spearmint and eucalyptus. But this is one I keep going back to every holiday season! As you can see, I do enjoy the tingle and the sting it has on the skin as I have been a fan of mint for years. And the cute polar bear packaging this year did not help. I absolutely love polar bears to a T! They hold a sentimental value to me. Pink and bears. Thank you BBW! On another note, I do feel there is an age limit to this scent. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to smell rather young, perhaps even juvenile to an extent.

Blush -Chanel - Joues Contraste in Rose Ecrin
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:19:00 AM
A luxurious velvet packet of rose-scented Rose Ecrin! What a delicious color it delivers on the face, a sheen of.... My, my. What my natural flush is in tone. Of course, I do not have perfect skin so I usually do have to use foundation or concealer which then masks any natural flushing I have in my skin. A sweep of this on my cheeks, and (GOODNESS, forbid. I never do this with any other skintone) on my nose! Sometimes chin and forehead! It makes me look healthy, natural, and also has an added sheen since it is the JC formula. I absolutely love this. I've been using it almost everyday for the past six weeks since I've owned it. The only other blush I managed to use is a Tarte one I picked up even more recently, but still, I venture back to this when I want a rosy, cooler color. It's subtle, yet it can be built up. One con about this though, is the atrocious shedding brush it comes with. I simply cannot fathom using that. The brushes I use with this product are either a Japonesque large eye shader brush, or the Real Techniques Contour brush. My final words? I've never been so much in love with a blush. Definitely makes top 5, because it gives me a reason not to skip blush out of laziness!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Wedge Eyeshadow
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:14:00 AM
I think this was in my first ten MAC eyeshadows I must've purchased years ago due to all the hype. Hated it. When I was in my teens, I didn't understand the need for matte eyeshadow (Other than stark white and black, oh my.) I swapped it away, but now it's come back creeping into my collection in my early 20's. I must say, at first I regretted picking it up again. What was I thinking, being fooled twice into this overly hyped mess?! However, it proved me wrong when I started blending it into my creases, a subtle warm look. I've began enjoying warmer eyeshadow looks so it works well with many of my other golds, browns, and bronzes. I enjoy interchanging this with Kid, since Kid is being discontinued as of now. However, I do prefer the veluxe formula and it seems to last a bit longer (Not as powdery as this one!) The tone is almost identical, with Kid being only slightly warmer in my opinion.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Patina (Frost)
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:12:00 AM
An alright shade in my palette, it does not register as anything special, despite the uniqueness of it's tone. I am unsure if my skintone (NC17) just does not have chemistry with it, or whatnot. It does register on the lid, but barely. I will rarely use this alone, unless I don't want to look as if I have much makeup on. Even so, it does not give me a subtle healthy look when I put it on alone. It's a weird taupey, molded golden brown with flashes of pinkish purplish red running through it that the eye does not really see unless in extreme proximity or as a swatch on the hand. Shimmery, but not excessive. I managed to hit pan on it, but I think it is because I want to finish it, not because I love it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Omega
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:09:00 AM
A cooler matte brown, however most products turn more warm on my skin rather than "taupe", so I can't register this as that. It is lovely in the brows for a lighter look, and also fantastic for days where I like to spackle on false freckles. Strange, I know! However, it is fantastic for that in photography. Also lovely for contouring in the socket bone, under the cheekbones if nothing else is around, and around the face. I'm NC17.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Copperplate
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:07:00 AM
I've never, ever been a fan of taupes! This included. Taupes and greys simply register as ill-fitting on my eyelids. Fantastic under my cheekbones though. However, other than the usage of this on the eyebrows, I've never found a way to use this on the eyelids. Only until recently, thanks to NikkieTutorials on youtube! I now mix this with a warmer matte such as MAC Kid or Wedged to create a lovely neutral on the eyelid crease and even for a nose contour (That I have never been able to achieve before!) Hoping I can find a combination in a single form, but at least I now have a use for my very ignored copperplate. That being noted, matte2 is still my favourite formula. Never fails to be buttery and pigmented.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eye Shadow in Quarry
Heechul 3/24/2013 3:05:00 AM
In my opinion, an extremely muted greyed plum. This is very displeasing to the eye when I match it with other cooler, warmer, purple or red toned shadows. In fact, it's sickly, makes me look tired, sallow and like I don't know how to apply eyeshadow. I almost wanted to return this little one, and it still isn't one of my favourites (Despite my love towards MAC's matte neutrals.) However, mixing this with other warmer eyeshadows, especially ones leaning towards orange, has me enjoying keeping this in my neutral palette of 26. I enjoy applying this mainly in the crease only, or outer v's, depending on the look I am going for the day. If you want me to namedrop the warmer shades I combine this with, I use MAC's Wedge, Soft Brown, Saddle, Kid, or Woodwinked!

Blush -MAC - Taupe Shape
Heechul 3/24/2013 2:58:00 AM
My, my! I couldn't find anywhere to add a review for this contour/blusher. It must have only been appealing to me, whilst everyone else was scoping out for Chanel Notorious or have availability to decent contour products such as Nyx Taupe or MAC Pro products. Unfortunately, I cannot buy any of the products above in person as it never arrived in my city. None of them! So I took a chance on this product without even trying it in the store. And I'm quite very happy that I did. I'm quite picky, I'm a neutral-warm girl at NC17 to be specific, and this manages to be a lovely taupe underneath my cheekbones without being metallic (As the sheen in a hand swatch will prove to show.), or being too warm (Ahem, MAC harmony, and all those other bronzers out there.) I find that any skintone darker than NC25~30 will find this too ashy to work with as a contour for sure, from playing around with my skin at an NC35 level, it got way too cool/grey. This was LE, nothing too special, I'm sure there's a much better selection within the MAC Pro line if you can see it in person. But I'm happy with it, and I've been using it consistently as my contour powder since I've gotten it when it came out with the MAC Strength collection. It's got quite the massive dip. Eek

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo Metal By Eyestudio Eyeshadow Gold Rush
Heechul 3/24/2013 2:49:00 AM
A true yellow gold cream that is heavy on the pigment, and has orange flecks of glitter throughout. This is the excessive sister of Chanel's Vision Illusion D'ombre which is a golden glittersheen. Both very lovely to have in my collection, and quite different from eachother. I like to use this as an extremely sheer base for when I do gold looks with eyeliner, or bronzed, warm, orange, looks. I did receive this for free from a friend, however I am not sure if I would purchase it on my own. The staying power is pretty decent. Something to note, this cream shadow seems to get harder faster than any of my other MAC paintpots OR Maybelline Color Tattoos. Not sure what it is.

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Brush Collection Core Collection
Heechul 3/24/2013 2:37:00 AM
So the three (Core/eye/travel) sets are the only ones available to the majority of Canada. I picked up this one, and I fell in love. Flat out! So mainly the buffing and the contour brush were what totally blew me away. The buffing brush is fantastic for blending out my foundation, or setting a powder. The contour brush I love for blush (in particular my Tarte blushes.) or contouring, of course. It's shape and the way it picks up pigment is flawless. The other two, I've not found as many uses for however: I dislike dirtying or using my hands if I am going to be out all day with foundation, if I am in a rush. With the pointed foundation brush, I will dot my liquid foundation all over my face before I blend it out with a Shiseido brush (if it is a hard formula) or if it is a more liquid formula, i will use the buffing brush. It's nice, and I did pick up another set. $5 per brush in Canada is an impossible deal to find.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Vanilla
Heechul 3/24/2013 1:13:00 AM
There's not much to be said about this blandly made eyeshadow from MAC. It is both lackluster in finish and performance. At NC15-20, I assumed this would be a good highlight, but the product drags across the skin no matter the brush in my opinion. (My skin does go rather dry, even with assortments of primers on the lids inclusive of TSFI, UD, Nars, MAC PP.) I found similar shades from Shu Uemura that glide on better, or even MAC's Blanc Type. I'm not sure what it is about Vanilla (Perhaps it's satin finish) but it does leave a lot to be desired.

Lipstick -Tarte - LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Stain in Envy
Heechul 2/13/2013 1:35:00 PM
This is a full review of my experience with this, down to the complete flatness of the tube. I regularly do touchups at work or school due to this being easy to twist up and roll on. YES, I finished an entire tube within under 6 months, so I probably am unsure of repurchasing because a) I liked it enough to finish, but b) wow! Only a few months? I am attracted to products with menthol without drying my lips out. This formula doesn't parch me the way the luster and regular line makes my lips peel. However this is barely a "stain", to me it is a lightweight sheer satin lipstick. It is not completely matte. Yes, I bought this because supposedly Max/Kat Dennings wore this on 2BG. However, the color is a plum, if you want it to look like Max's lips, wear a deep red lipliner underneath. No this isn't moisturizing, not particularly drying. Easy to put on, not a stain not long lasting. Faded evenly enough! The color wasn't my best friend so I won't buy this particular color again.
