Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 5 Pieces Brush Set (Mineral Makeup)
rated 5 of 5

Love most of the brushes in this set although the larger kabuki brush is a bit to soft to use as my main brush to buff in my mineral makeup so I use it to applying a finishing powder and for that it works great. What I really love is the mini kabuki which works wonderful for applying my mineral makeup under my eyes. A little goes a long way there and you want to apply with a light hand as to not enhance fine lines. Conceler brush awesome when using with my Benfit Boiing . I've never had brushes this soft. Went out and bought the blush brush on it's own and that works great as well. Really glad I took the recommendations here and gave this line a try.

Treatments -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - vitamin C
rated 5 of 5

This review is for their new C & E product. Here's the descrption from their website: Specifics about Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate (Stable Vitamin C): A powerful antioxidant with many anti-aging benefits such as building collagen, defending the skin against free-radicals, healing inflammation, reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, and lightening discolorations. A relatively new derivative of Vitamin C, it’s preferred by many for having superior stability and effectiveness. It’s particularly lauded for reducing melanin production- the culprit behind age spots, Melasma, and hyper-pigmentation. It’s also been shown to be more effective than water soluble Vitamin E in protecting against hydroxyl free radicals. So I did some research into Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate and the studies I found online looked very promising. Very stable form of vitamin C which means you don't have to keep it in the fridge and will last a long time as long as it's stored in a dark environment. Studies also stated that the percentage of Vitamn C needed in this new forumla can be lower (3% - 5%) than previous ones (which had to be at least 10% to be effective) I emailed MUAC to see what the percentage of their serum is and it's 5%. So with that let me say I love this product. I've been using it every morning for a couple of weeks. I have noticed a real change in my skin tone and my skin looks brighter. Some darker sun spots are starting to fade a bit. My only complaint would be that it comes in a dropper bottle (less airtight than a pump), so what I do is use a q-tip and use on my face, making sure I massage it in for a couple of seconds. It dries fairly quickly - within a couple of minutes and then I can layer my SS over it. I've tried other Vitamin C serums which usually left my skin irritated or broke me out. So I kept searching for one that would work for my skin because I know how important Vitamin C is for skin care. 1 oz. bottle runs $42.50 - A real bargain when you look at other similar products. But MUAC now ships everything for free and if you get on their email list - they do promos throughout the year for 20% of an entire order. So mine ran $34 dollars and by using the q-tip, I think I this serum will last awhile. And since it has superior stability, I will be able to use up the entire bottle before it goes bad. Another MUAC winner product for me... I

Moisturizers -Skin Biology - Emu Oil for skin
rated 5 of 5
HayJenn 2/9/2011 7:42:00 PM

So with getting older and my skin needs changing, I heard a lot of good things about Emu Oil and thought I would give it a shot. Based again, on a recommendation from a previous review, I purchased mine on Ebay from seller Brokenwingmending - and I have to say her emu oil is the BEST. I started using it last year and had great results with it. She stopped making it for awhile and I tried some other sellers on Ebay but none of their emu oil was nearly as good as hers (some were just outright awful- stinky and yellow). She's back selling now and I just received another bottle and my skin is loving it again. I cant recommend her emu oil enough. Generous amount for a small price. And she is lovely person to do business with. Two huge thumbs up! Would give a rating of 10 if I could...

Mascara -Shiseido - Nourishing Mascara Base
rated 5 of 5
HayJenn 12/31/2010 3:18:00 AM

So I had been using the old Shiseido Mascara Base and liked it very much although I thought it applied a bit on the thick side. So I was running out and ask my hubby to buy a replacement for Christmas. When I looked at the box I thought "oh no, he bought the wrong item"..But sure enough, after a quick search, I found out the old was discontinued and though I would give the new one a try. Must say I like this new & improved version even better. It's lighter and when applying doesn't glob like the old one use to do at times. I honestly cannot tell a difference between the old one in terms of staying power, and keeping my mascara from smudging or flakeing. Still get the same curl height and volume (I use Full and Soft). It does seem "nourishing" as well and is easier to remove. Also with the old one, if I didn't coat every lash from bottom to top, sometimes the gray of the old forumla would show on my tips. I know sometimes it's hard to get used to new things when you really loved the old, but for me, this updated version gets a big thumbs up.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Moisturizing Cream Cleanser [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
HayJenn 2/28/2010 10:51:00 PM

Just picked up my second tube of this. Having menopausal skin is no fun and almost over night it seemed like I went from having combo skin to dry skin. My old standby cleansers (Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash & Neutrogena Foaming Face Wash) were leaving my skin so dry. This creamy cleanser has calmed down the redness in my cheeks and leaves my skin feeling pretty hydrated. I haven't had any negative reaction to it and my skin is somwhat on the senstitive side. It has made my skin "calm down" alot if that makes any sense. It doesn't remove tough eye make-up though, so I use Neutrogena oil free makeup remover for that - but otherwise, a big thumbs up for me.

Crème -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless
rated 3 of 5
HayJenn 2/26/2010 9:07:00 PM

I was able to get a good match shade in this foundation (I took the advice here and went darker by two shades). First I applied my moisturzier/SS (Garnier which is pretty hydrating) but no matter how I tried to apply it (I did try several different ways, fingers, damp sponge, foundation brush), it was drying on me. Didn't settle into my fine lines as much as other foundations I have tried. Overall not the worst I've ever tried, but by no means HG either. I do love the corrector from this line though, for some reason seems to be much more hydrating than the foundation and covers my dark circles pretty well.
