Palettes -LORAC - Snake Charmer Face Palette
HauteGirl22 12/6/2006 1:54:00 PM

I just recently discovered Lorac's wonderful eye shadows...these are no exception in quality! Gorgeous palette with a golden shimmer, cream shimmer, amber shimmer and dark coffee brown with gold sparkles. Love these shades and they wear well - they're silky textured. I thought at first this didn't have enough pigmentation in them, like NARS, but I realized the first swipe goes on light and then the more you layer, the darker or more shimmery it gets. I really like shimmery, soft shadows like Stila, Too Faced, Urban Decay or Trish McEvoy and these are no exception. I took a swipe with the blush and it is HIGHLY pigmented - use a skunk brush with this! Only thing I didn't like is the packaging - like everyone else said, its tacky-ville. It's completely laughable that you would even wear the armband to go out..i think i'd be laughed out of town. Oh well...the palette inside is worth it! I also have Social Beautyfly by Lorac, also like that one

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
HauteGirl22 12/6/2006 1:48:00 PM
Had to see what all the fuss was about since I had a hard time believing a tinted moisturizer could really do that much for your face - isn't that what foundation is for? I bought a tube anyway (regular TM in Porcelain) and LOVE IT! It's like my skin but better...provides a nice, even coverage. It doesn't completely cover up all my spots (I use LM's secret camoflauge for this) but it does even out my skintone and cover my redness/blotchiness. It doesn't give me a matte finish either (my skin is on the drier side) and I have a nice little glow. Perfect for everyday, doesn't break me out....love love love

Lipstick -Sephora - All Lipsticks
HauteGirl22 12/6/2006 1:42:00 PM
I bought this on a discount so its comparable to drugstore lipsticks. Even then, its better - i picked out shade N42 - my HG lipstick shade! It's the perfect light rosy pink with golden shimmer. So gorgeous and perfect for everyday wear. I may go get several more tubes to stock up on these babies!

Fragrances -Paris Hilton - All Products

I must love to smell cheap and trashy, cause I love this perfume. It smells so fresh, fruity and floral at the same time. I was very surprised to like this scent so much, considering who's name is behind it. But in any case, I think its a nice scent for summer and I'm glad I bought this.

Eye Makeup Remover -Bliss Labs - Eye Makeup Remover
HauteGirl22 3/19/2006 1:28:00 PM
I hated this eye m/u remover. It didn't take off any of my eye makeup. The only cool thing about it was the gel consistency and that you could put it in the fridge to make it cold - it felt nice putting this on my lids. Oh, and I liked the flip cap packaging. But other than that, I hated this expensive piece of crap. I ended up returning it to Sephora. Won't buy again.

Skincare - Face -Cover Girl - Makeup Remover
HauteGirl22 3/19/2006 1:23:00 PM
I really like this makeup remover. It has enough oil in it to get all my waterproof makeup off but not so oily that my eyes feel really greasy. Price is great and this is better than most high end brand m/u removers. Only things I complain about this are the smell (another reviewer was right when she said it smelled like vanilla yogurt - haha I love yogurt but don't want my m/u remover smelling like it!) and the packaging of the bottle. I don't like the open bottle - wish it had a smaller opening so its easier to control what comes out. Also the bottle is too small, wish they had bigger sizes! But all in all, I like this m/u remover - will buy again.

Moisturizers -Origins - Urgent Moisture
HauteGirl22 3/19/2006 1:18:00 PM
Wow! Didn't expect much from Origins but this is really a great face moisturizer. My skin is very problematic...forehead can get oily/normal but cheeks will be as dry as the desert. I end up breaking out a lot because of the dryness of my cheeks and wintertime...so I've been looking for a heavier moisturizer for the winter. Unfortunately, most of them have broken me out b/c they're too oily and heavy for my face! This one is just right...it actually absorbs into the skin, leaving it hydrated, not just greasy! One of the few moisturizers i've ever used that actually moisturized my dry patches! Only reason I gave it 4 lippies was b/c I'm not sure if I'm breaking out because of this cream or the sunscreen I used the day before...I will have to update to let you guys know. In the meantime, get a sample of this if you can, perfect for wintertime moisture! UPDATE 12/30/04: Never mind...it wasn't the effects of the moisturizer I was feeling, it was the Perricone treatment that was doing it for my skin....I had a sample of Perricone's product that I had just finished at the time when I started using this product and now I realize that its Perricone I should've invested in, not Origins. Dropped this down from 4 lippies to 2...sorry Origins...not moisturizing enough for me, I'm still getting flakies :( UPDATE 2/16/05: Holy crap, this stuff really sucks. I've dropped it down to one lippie because over the past month and a half that I've been using this, my skin has become red and blotchy with dry patches all over the place. I didn't understand why my skin perpetually looked like it was red and raw until I realized it was this Urgent Moisture. I'm probably allergic to one of the many ingredients in this lotion. Last night was the first night I didn't use it and my skin looks so much better...no more red patchiness. I would stay away from this if you have sensitive skin!!

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Tutti Dolci - Apple Torta
HauteGirl22 2/10/2006 2:21:00 PM
Great lipgloss! Got it during BBW's annual sale so it was dirt cheap. The color is not as vivid as in the tube. it gives me the perfect flush to my lips and looks quite natural! Took off one lippie b/c the staying power sucks - I lose all shine after 10 minutes.

Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Aqua Lash
HauteGirl22 1/12/2006 10:56:00 AM
I think I found my HG! Mascaras are the one thing I refuse to spend a lot of money on, because they all pretty much do the same thing. I've experiemented with exp and inexp brands like L'oreal, Maybelline, Shiseido, Shu Uemura; this one is the best mascara I've found so far. Gives me good volume, thickens without clumping and even enhances my length a little, all while holding my curl up beautifully. I also love the color; it's the perfect rich, shiny black without being too dry looking or being an off-black. And it's not expensive at all. Perfect!

Eye Makeup Remover -Sephora - Express Waterproof Eye Make-up Remover w/ vitamin E
HauteGirl22 9/9/2005 11:41:00 PM
It was OK as a makeup remover...didn't get everything off like it was supposed to. It's not as oily as Lancome's Bi-Facil but I feel like it couldn't get my mascara off as well either. I HATE the screw top, made it so annoying to twist it off each time. Is a flip cap so hard to make?? The scent was ok, it didn't bother me. I don't think I'll buy this again, just on account of the screw cap.

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Lasting Lift Mascara
HauteGirl22 9/7/2005 10:30:00 PM
I have short, thin sparse Asian eyelashes that point downward, so I'd like a mascara that will hold up a curl and lengthen my lashes. This did both....perhaps a little too well. This stuff, once it dries, hardens so much that it hurts to touch my lashes after I put it on. It's definitely waterproof, and VERY hard to remove - you will need a waterproof eye makeup remover, preferably BiFacils by Lancome b/c it has a good oil base in it. I took off lippies because while I did like the effect that it had on my lashes, it has been very bad to them...my lashes have been falling out like crazy and now I have even shorter and thinner lashes than before. I think the this formula is just a little too strong for me so I will not be repurchasing. Also, the tiny wand is annoying but good for lower lashes.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Old Fashioned Eggnog 3 in 1
HauteGirl22 5/1/2005 2:57:00 PM
The only reason this didn't get one lippie is because I really liked the eggnog scent - a warm vanilla smell, like rich sugar cookies baking in the oven. However, as far as cleansing power goes, this stuff sucks. Far beyond words can say. I used it as a body wash and shampoo. I always had to wash two times over my body in order for it to be clean and three times in my hair. I am so glad I got this for free and didn't pay $16 for this. I hate products that are designed to have more than one use, because then its not specialized or good enough to be good at any of the things its intended to be used for! I will never buy this again. I have another 3-in-1 in Lemon Meringue and once I use that up, I'm done with 3-in-1's forever.

Moisturizers -Phytomer - Hydration Reinforcement Nourishing Treatment Cream
HauteGirl22 4/3/2005 7:49:00 AM
This is my HG face moisturizer...I absolutely love this stuff. I used to use the HydraContinue moisturizer, until I realized it wasn't moisturizing enough for my dry skin (My skin seems to get drier each year!) so I thought I would try this out instead. I think my skin really likes seawater-based products, because I find that any line of skincare or makeup that contains seaweed, ocean water properties really work well. This one is no exception! It has a nice light scent that isn't too perfumey and smells so good when you put it on. Its a thicker gel consistency than the HydraContinue and sinks right into my skin when I apply it. It doesn't make my skin oily, it just hydrates very well. Since I've been using this, my dry, flaky, red skin has brightened up quite a bit and the clarity of my skin is just amazing now. No more redness and no more dry patches! My friend told me when I was using Phytomer, I looked like I had glowing, porcelein skin. I don't know why I ever strayed but I'm definitely sticking with Phytomer for the rest of my days!

Highlighters -Becca - Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector
HauteGirl22 3/29/2005 4:52:00 AM
At first, I was afraid this was going to look too pink on my skin...when I wiped it on my hand first, it looked like an orange-y beige with pink undertones and gold shimmer! However, I paired it with my LSF foundation #4 and it looks ethereal...makes my skin glow from within! I have this great golden glow that makes me look shimmery and airbrushed...no pink or orange tones here! This is good for either night or daytime because I don't look too shiny or shimmery, just glowy. Only thing I don't like is the fragrance they put in here, its quite strong but luckily it wears off quickly. I'm guessing its because of the SPF 8? Also I noticed this doesn't last too long...my skin only seems to glow for a few hours before the shimmer effect wears off. However, I like the packaging a lot, very sturdy and NO GLASS - I'm so glad I won't have to worry about breaking this if I drop it! Comes with a rubber top and an inner plastic cap so no fear of spilling or leakage. This is my first Becca SSP and I had been trying to decide between Armani's Fluid Sheer or this one....I decided on this one based on P'ville reviews and price. I'm really happy with the results, only took one lippie off for limited staying power and the overpowering smell.

Makeup Brushes -Chanel - Foundation Brush (Synthetic Fibers)
HauteGirl22 3/28/2005 5:50:00 AM
I bought the small travel size off ebay and I don't regret it for one second. This is an amazing brush!! I used it with my GA LSF the other night and it gave me a flawless, airbrushed look! I owned the Prescriptives brush previously and I didn't like that one at all because it gave me a very streaky look, due to the splaying of the bristles. I've only had this for a few days so I'm going to try to take good care of this brush to prevent bristle splaying. Judging from the high quality of the bristles though, it seems this won't be too hard!
