Palettes -Urban Decay - Naked Basics

I love Naked 1&2 equally. This palette was a huge disappointment. I was at ULTA today and checked it out. I already have Foxy in Naked 2 along with a back up single;and WOS came with my six palette. WOS pink tones don't show up on my NC10 skin so It doesn't look much different than Foxy which seems more opaque on me. The standouts in this palette I will buy when they become singles are Naked 2 and Venus. They are buttery soft goodness. Venus is a beautiful creamy white sheen(why can't we have more sheens?) and naked 2 is a matte greige-taupe. the two darkest colors in the palette had the texture of ashes. Both very sooty looking and feeling. I don't want the palette. It's about the size of a cell phone but, I don't want the added bulk in my M/U bag just for two colors. Oh, I had a hard time opening the palette

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Liner
rated 1 of 5
GuysCallMeShawna 1/9/2013 5:37:00 PM

I have used this eyeliner with ELF and UD eyeprimers; over glitter, frost shimmer and matte shadows. I had this in black. I paid around $7 at Walmart. I did not like this all all. The tip is very limp and long. I like some stiffness in a liner pen. It jumped, caked, went dry, smudged and my eyeshadow transferred on to it making it look muddy. I have never had this happen with a liner before. Color pay off was meh. I had to go over line twice. This is happened no matter what I did. I will not be repurchasing.

The most flattering red glitter polish for every skin tone. It's a bright neutral red glitter. Reminds me of Dorthy's slippers in the wizard of oz movie (in the book they are silver). All-year-round color. I love it for both mani's and pedi's. I have received compliments on this. Formula is smooth. I achieve bottle color in two coats though I usually do three. I use seche vite top coat and I do not use a base coat. Lasts me about two days before chipping starts.

If I hold the bottle up to my NARS Orgasm blush in pan they are an EXACT match. This is a peachy-pink frosty metallic. Perfect for spring/summer but I bust this baby out all year around because the color cheers me up. I usually wear this as a manicure and have wore this as a pedicure in the summer. One to two coats gives sheer frosty color. I achieve bottle color in three coats. Formula is smooth. I can wear for about three day before chipping occurs.I don't use a base coat and I use Seche Vite for top coat. I get edge wearing in a day; I do with all nail polish.

Polishes -OPI - Nomad's Dream

GuysCallMeShawna 11/20/2012 9:24:00 PM

I am NC10; Honey blonde with strawberry highlights and teal green eyes. In the bottle it looks like just another bronzed nude with frost. On my nails it takes on a very different personality. It's a just frosty enough pink champange with gold shimmer. I haven't noticed the green other reviewers have mentioned. I love this on toes and hands. Two coats is good coverage and applies smoothly, I use three for the super shellac look. I top with seche vite and it's completely dry in 30 minutes. This is an anytime appropriate polish and I would buy again.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - One 'n Only - Argan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo

Who: My Hair is 'Normal' with a bit of wave and has a tendency to get flat with weight when it gets longer. It's shoulder blade length honey blonde with strawberry blonde highlights, long layers with no bangs. I don't use heat styling everyday and don't blow dry. Occasionally if I have a lunch date with a friend or some kind of meeting I will use the mousse from this line for a little more polished oomph. Why? I generally wash my hair everyday. I switched to this because Pantene had changed their formula and I was getting eczema flare ups around my hair line, behind my ears, neck and back from it. I am trying to be more streamlined to. I get to skip conditioning with this. Use: Before I shampoo, I make sure my hair is well brushed with my dense boar bristle brush. I super saturate my hair with water and use about a nickel sized amount and message that into my scalp with the pads of my fingers. I then used a generic tangle teazer type brush I purchased at sally's to work this through my hair and detangle. I rinse in warm-not hot- water(Easy enough since I can't take hot showers). I don't feel the need for a separate conditioner at this time. I do condition lightly once a week with Suave Rosemary Mint conditioner. It's been working. To combat static during the colder months, I treat my hair brush to a couple drops of pure Argan oil about every two weeks. I message it into the bristles. This seems to work well. If the static gets to out-of control, I use a tad of the mousse from this line. The bottle is basic. I bought the large bottle for $19.5 with my sally's card at sally's. I use it on my twin 6yo's the same as I use it on me. 2 months and I am half way thru the bottle. SO the Price is very reasonable since the formula is quite thick and rich. The smell reminds me of Revlon's Outrageous line from the mid/late 90's. I love the smell. It does linger on the hair slightly. I am not plagued with desire to alternate shampoos or try other brands. I will repurchase.

Polishes -OPI - My Private Jet

New Version review: Bad a$$, elegant and girly. Granite grey shimmer with lots of fine silvery sparkle and I notice in sunlight a slight brown-burgundy shift. Good for autumn and winter if you coordinate by season. Good night time summer/special occasion color. Two coats gives opaque coverage and three is killer. This is a staple in any nail wardrobe. I love this color and would repurchased again. For reference I am NC10, honey blonde hair, teal eyes.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole Ultra 24h

I Have NC10 Sensitive Dry skin. I deal with occasional bouts of acne and severe eczema and dermatitis and have some scarring from my big pharma maiming. This product does contain alcohol which hasn't bothered me nor my eye area so It must be a low concentration. I paid $44 US. Expensive but this 1 fl.oz. bottle lasted me almost 6 months now with my average use of 5 days a week. I generally use 1 squirt from the pump and that gives medium coverage when I apply with my flat top powder brush from ELF studio line. Sometimes when I am 'going out' I will use a second pump of product for more coverage and for a more matte finish. The bottle is glass and I like the pump. The top is a sturdy hard plastic and stays on the bottle. I have dropped the bottle and it hasn't chipped or broken. I don't use primers and haven't with this. This can be built up with out cakie-ness to full coverage. If I apply a liberal amount of moisturizer I can get a satin finish and with more product, I can get a matte finish. This does stay on but will transfer with heavy make-out friction. My bfriend had a beard and nothing would've stood up to that. But it could under go light touching and be OK. I don't use a powder to set this daily as my skin is dry. It doesn't creep into any fine lines and blurs some of my scarring from my skin bouts. I didn't notice a smell with this like with other lancome products such as their blush and skincare. I haven't worn this 24 hours but have worn it a maximum of 14 hours with some dewiness in the t zone if I moisturize well. This is the only longwear foundation with an intensity light enough(Ivoire 100N) to actually suit my skin tone of NC10. It's not a perfect match but it is pretty darn close, blends well and is forgiving. I prefer to apply this with my ELF brush mentioned above and have used my fingers before with success. The bottle I am currently on is 3/4 of the way gone and I am 1/2 way thru month 6 since starting this and I have purchased my second bottle in waiting. When GWP rolls around for The Bon Ton, I plan on getting my third so I will have my back up. :-)

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
GuysCallMeShawna 8/18/2012 7:41:00 AM

I have natural nails that are thin. I seldom use a base coat and keep my nails about 3mm past nail bed. Yes. This contains toulene. I don't worry about is because it dissipates so unless I am sniffing this with deep breaths or working near a flame...I see no danger. I use it in a well ventilated area. I paid $5 bucks for this at Sally's. It's a .5 fl.oz. bottle and the brush is just OK. The formula is very thick. I have used this with cremes, shimmers, crackle, glitter, holo's for pedicures and manicures.I have used it with Ulta, OPI, Essie, China Glaze and WnW polishes and my results have been consistently very good. I have a difficult time achieving even opaque coverage with creme polishes and this used in between coats is a miracle worker. It's a bit more work but worth it. I can apply this over wet polish with 2-3 coats of color, My polish is set in 5-10 minutes and I am good to for the day after 20 minutes. A manicure if I wrap my tips can last me 3 days- I am rough on my hands, pianist. Prior to Seche Vite a mani lasted me 1 day tops. And pedicure with SV lasts10 days before chipping but I usually remove after 7. Prior, about 4 days. Things to keep in mind: Since product is thick and my hands are small (size 4/5 ring finger), it has a tendency to pool at the sides and it will turn milky if too much is applied. Once polish does start chipping, it will come off in sheets. Keep in mind shrinking...just be sure to wrap the tip good.

Brows -Lancome - Le Crayon Poudre in Natural Blonde
rated 5 of 5
GuysCallMeShawna 8/17/2012 7:35:00 PM

This is a powder in a wooden pencil that has a spoolie on the end of it. The spoolie is stiff and basic but it does the job of blending the powder and brushing hairs into the place. The powder lead is not as soft as and UD eyeliner but not as hard as a maybelline red wooden eyebrow pencil. My Eyebrows are so light they're almost white. I have honey blonde hair with strawberry blonde highlights. I need to darken my brows or it'd look like I have none. The description on lancome's website states that this is a soft cool beige taupe but this appears a warm medium blonde color on me so it compliments my hair color well. I wax my brows more on the thin side because the powder does have a thickening effect which I appreciate since my brows are sparser that the ends. But because I do wax and this does have that thickening effect, I have to be vigilant about regularly waxing them or the thickening effect will just be a disaster with all the incoming strays. The staying power lasts me the day when I use either UDPP or ELF primer on my brows with ELF clear mascara over it. I get better color pay off and can build the color more with UDPP. Without primer, pencil with elf clear mascara over it lasts about 8 hours until mild fading sets in. This doesn't cake or oxidize on me. This is pricey at $25 but it lasts me over a year. When I sharpen it I save the powder shavings in an empty gloss pot and apply with an angled brush like ecotools or Real Techniques by Samatha Chapman. I sharpen only with a lancome sharpener because in the past when I have sharpened my lancome lip pencils with generic or other brand sharpeners, the lead would just break off and would create great waste and hassle. I finally vented to a SA and she informed me that Lancome pencils can only be sharpened with Lancome sharpeners. I don't know if this is still the case but at $25/pop, I am not taking chances.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 5 of 5
GuysCallMeShawna 8/17/2012 4:55:00 PM

I have owned 5 NARS blushes(Luster, Sex Appeal, Oasis, orgasm and Sin*up for swap) and this is the one I reach for the most. I am NC10 for reference. I use Lancome Idole Ultra 24hr in Ivoire 100N and this blush stays well throughout the day. I don't reapply. When I use my powder foundation or revlon PR, I can get 8 hrs before it begins to fade. The color is a sheer peachy pink with gold shimmer. The shimmer doesn't make me look like a glitter ball and I have received compliments from men who've told me I was 'glowing,' and women who ask me what it is. I bought my first one in 2008 and with an average use of 5 days a week, I just finished it up 4 years later and started on my back up. I apply this with my ELF studio blush brush for stronger color and ELF studio stippling brush for more subtle color. I found this extremely easy to blend and never cakey/chalky with either application.Color didn't oxidize on me. Sometimes I blend this over Luster with the stippling brush. When I use a stippling brush with this, I notice less shimmer transfer than with the denser brush. This is the perfect afterglow sexy flush. Take that into consideration when plotting your makeup look for the day. Not always appropriate for some looks. Fun to play with though. I don't get breakouts or eczema flare ups from this and I don't smell any fragrances whatsoever in this. Though I love the durable matte black mirrored compact, it's a PITA because it's rubberized and picks up everything and you're very limited as to what you can clean the outside with-Don't use alcohol. It doesn't come with a brush which is a plus for me because less bulk in my make up bag. $28 bucks is a hefty price tag BUT it lasted me four years...so at $7/year this is a steal depending on how you look at it.
