Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - Intensive Serum 14% Glycolic AHA
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 11/22/2012 8:06:00 PM

I concur with the first reviewer. I tried this as an AHA replacement for the swipes (also a good product). This IS oil free, it dries completely with no residue, makeup goes on well over it, and no burning/irritation--for me--and I'm allergic to most everything. I bought backups when it went on sale After 2 months of morning use, I'm very pleased with the product and it's results. Yes, I would buy it again--and recommend it to others.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Green Smoke
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 8/9/2012 10:14:00 PM

I love this color; it complements my fair/light, olive complexion and golden/brownish/hazel eyes. It is very pigmented, lasts, and I have 2 backups (just in case it's Discontinued). I like to apply Estee Lauder Double Wear in Golden Sands all over my lid and up to the brow, then I use Greensmoke in the outer corner and bring it up into the crease. I also like to use is as a crease & outer corner color with Patina as the initial wash of color. I'm surprised by the number of compliments I get when I wear this. I think it's best for cool and olive complextions - it is not a "warm" shadow. It is an accent color -- it can't be used as a "wash" due to the luster. I'm saddened to see the lower ratings, 'cause it's one of my favorites.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Dormer 211® - Specialité HyperEmollient
rated 3 of 5
GulieQ 6/25/2012 10:35:00 PM

This is a very "emolient" handcream. However, on me it stayed greasy and didn't have long staying power. The consistency is just a tad creamier than Vaseline Creamy Formula, but without the ultra-softening that Vaseline gives. As this Dormer product wore off, my hands felt just as dry as when I'd initially used the lotion. It didn't absorb well, it stayed greasy and got all over everything I touched; I couldn't put on my medical gloves, and it didn't prevent irritation from paperword--yet it left grease spots on the papers I touched. (I am frugal with application; it wasn't because I used gobs of it.) The Dormer Creme (a Jar, different product) is very moisturizing, absorbs well, and doesn't leave me with a greasy mess. I will stick with the Creme in the jar when at work, and Topix Handcream when I need to use gloves. Linacare cream is the best--but no longer in my price range, unless my hands are really red/raw from handwashing & paperwork. I'm sure it's a great product for someone who doesn't need as much moisture as I do, and who doesn't need such a specific type of finish.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Dormer 211 Oil Free Fluid Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 6/18/2012 11:51:00 PM

A fantastic facial moisturizer for people who have severe skin allergies and uber-oily skin! (Very effective on dry flakey areas!) It's light but is cosmetically elegant; dries matte; make-up/sunscreen applies well over it; it does NOT exacerbate oil production; and it doesn't cost an arm & a leg (although it must be ordered on-line if you live in the US--this is a Canadian-made brand). I always have this on-hand. FINALLY something that doesn't break me out or give me hives or a burning rash on my face! YEA! Have been using this on off for about 4 years, so it's tried and true. I rotate in the 2 other moisturizers at night, but always have to come back to this. This is great in the morning over the oil-gushing flaking areas. Am so bummed we don't have anything like this in the states! INGREDIENTS: Aqua, Stearic Acid,Sorbitan Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol,Polysorbate 60, Allantoin,Soluble Collagen, Methylparaben,Propylparaben, Citric Acid.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Dormer 211 Lotion
rated 4 of 5
GulieQ 6/18/2012 11:18:00 PM

This is my go-to body lotion in the summer. It is extremely light, but free of allergens (for me) & fragrance. It was recommended to me by a Derm as a facial moisturizer for my freakishly-oily, allergic-to-everything skin. Although Squalene breaks my face out in just a couple hours, my body has no issues with it. The other Dormer products are different consistencies, with this being rather "milky" in texture. It's a Canadian product, that I wish were carried here in California. Have included the product verbage below. (I am not affiliated.) Ingredients: Aqua, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mineral Oil (Huile Minérale), Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Cetyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Dimethicone, Petrolatum, Imidazondinyl Urea, Sodium Hydroxide, DEA Cetyl Phosphate, PPG-20 Methyl Glucose Ether Distearate, PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Distearate, Hyaluronic Acid, Squalane, Butylated Hydroxytoluene (Hydroxytoluène butylé), Lecithin, Isopropyl, Isobutyl & Butylparaben. "Each Dormer 211 product incorporates in its formulation an exclusive high molecular weight HYALURONIC ACID COMPLEX that provides moisture retaining, flexible, uniform "no holes" matrices capable of supporting 1000 times its molecular weight in water. This results in superior skin softening, smoothing, lubricating and elasticity. Blended with Phospholipid (Lecitin) and other selected skin conditioning ingredients Dormer 211 increases the renewal rate of epidermal cells, helps replenish and lock-in moisture that restores the skin's natural moisture balance and, rejuvenates the skin's restorative functions. Contains no fragrances. Very light texture. Perfect for oily skin. Safe for all skin areas. Ideal for total body after bathing. Very stable for compounding."

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Dormer 211 - Advanced Face & Hand Moisturizer
rated 4 of 5
GulieQ 6/18/2012 10:33:00 PM

This is a creamy, unscented, very moisturizing but not greasy cream that is great for people with allergies & sensitivities. This is great for hands and body. It's great for face, too. This brand is second only to Linacare, ihmo, for people needing moisture but are that are allergic to most everything. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because 2 of the ingredients break my face out (Squalene & Hyaluronic Acid)--which is why I don't use it on my face. However, if you're not as break-out prone as I am, I think is would be a really good face cream. I've used it on my hands and elbows/knees for almost 4 years, and I will continue to buy/use it. It is less expensive than Linacare (my favorite, by not often in my budget these days). Dormer 211 is a Canadian product. I have to order it online (Well.CA ~ not affiliated).

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Skin Beautiful - Gentle 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 5/13/2012 1:09:00 AM

I completely agree with the original review, below. This BHA product was a wonderful surprise. I was afraid it would be too mild, and not give any results. I was wrong... it is much "gentler" than the original unbuffered Skin Beautiful BHA's that I loved (that have been discontinued)--but the results are still fantastic! There is no stinging (for me). It gives my skin luminous clarity. It has no greasy glycols, no menthol, no fragrance...nothing I am allergic to (am allergic to most things) and it drastically reduces my oil production. I use this morning and evening, after washing my face; I wait 20 mins, then follow with Replenix CF serum and Retin A. After 6 months of sticking with this simple regimine, my skin has never looked better. This BHA is HG for me. MUAC BHA in 5% & 8% are also fantastic--but I can't used them often anymore due to irritation from the menthol chrystals they contain. I gave away my Paula's Choice 2% Liquid (which worked well, but make me a greasy mess) and Clear Target Toner (just didn't do anything--for me). If you're looking for an EFFECTIVE, SERIOUS BHA toner/treatment--THIS IS IT!

Eye Shadow -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay-In-Place Shadowcreme - Cafe Au Lait
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 1/7/2012 10:15:00 PM

This is my favorite Shadowcreme color, and I'm so glad I got 2 backups of it! It is a gorgeous golden taupe. I look best in cool colors--and this rocks! Yet, it looks great on my "warm" friends, so, it must be neutral. It lasts and lasts... applys smoothly and easily, yet dries quickly. It works well with all my other shadows. On many days, I'll just appy this with some eyeliner & mascara and rush off to work. My second favorite color is Gold Sands, but that requires a crease color to make it appropriate for my workplace. Cafe Au Lait is my perfect "go to" color. I highly recommend it, if you come accross it at the CCO!

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Citrix Antioxidant Cleansing Pads
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 1/7/2012 9:54:00 PM

These cleansing pads are gentle and do not sting. I often use these to "freshen up" my face after work, during my weekend days, and after workouts. Even when my face is overly sensitive (I'm allergic to most everything, so I often get flakey, irritation, and hives) these are soothing and leave my face feeling soothed and clean. I break out & clog very easily, and these do not create either issue. These come in a jar with a foil seal. I keep the seal and they do not dry out. I like that they contain antioxidants! I am careful to limit their exposure to light and air, and I keep the jar tightly sealed. I initially purchased the large jar of these, and they lasted 5 months of intermittent use w/o drying out. Now I buy the small jar and use one every day. Although "purists" may say that all antioxidant value is lost once it's opened--because it's in a jar--I disagree. I usually get a reaction to Vit C products, and this gives me NO negative reaction...yet, there IS a noticable difference in skin clarity when I use these. I've used these for about a year, and they are a part of my permanent routine. I highly recommend these cleansing pads!

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Progaine Volumizing Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 12/4/2011 2:25:00 PM

This is gentle, cleanses thoroughly, and gives my fine/thick/color-treated hair oodles of volume and shine! This beats ALL salon shampoo's I've used! This works well with ALL conditioners and treatments I use. Price just jumped from $4.95 to $6.50, but, that's nothing compared to the money I've wasted on expensive salon shampoos that were no where near as good as this unknown gem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! (Does not strip color!!)

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Derma Topix Intensive Hand Cream
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 12/4/2011 2:03:00 PM

This is the ideal hand cream for someone who works in the medical field, in an office, or who must frequently wash their hands and then have to apply medical gloves or touch a keyboard or other surface. It is emollient, creamy, fast-absorbing, and leaves skin completely non-greasy after about 10 seconds. It's virtually impossible to find a quality hand cream that is thick and moisturizing, unscented, and that will allow you to quickly type on a keyboard, use your computer mouse, or quickly re-apply medical gloves. This is it!! I initially balked at paying $12 for hand cream (who wouldn't????), but my hands became more and more cracked/chapped as I washed between patients and the few good lotions I liked would make it impossible to put on medical gloves between patients. I highly recommend!!!

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Skin Beautiful 5% Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Liquid, pH 1.9
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 10/13/2011 10:38:00 PM

This is an excellent BHA for people with allergies/sensitivities and for people with extremely oily skin. It contains only 2 ingredients: Organic Grape Alcohol Extract, 5% Salicylic Acid pH 1.9 . It feels very cooling as it's applied (but no menthol), and leaves NO FILM. The product smells like vodka, but the odor does not linger/stay on your skin. Glycols grease me out--and this is glycol-free! Does not affect makeup application. [This is what I'd hoped PC's BHA Clear Target Toner would be like (but isn't).] This IS drying, which is exactly what I want/LIKE; on rare occassion it will give me flaking. Although products are always YMMV, my skin responds beautifully to this. Am giving away my stash of PC Liquid and Clear Target BHA Toner. Will be keeping my MUAC BHAs, for weekend variety--but will use THIS as my primary/favored BHA.I highly recommend--provided you are combo/oily! Note: I had been using a daily 5% BHA to battle issues created by oil production, which was being exacerbated by the glycols which were actually in the BHA products, themselves. Since switching to these Skin Beautiful BHA products, I don't need to use a daily 5% BHA anymore... have started just using this as an extremely effective spot treatment. This is powerful stuff!! I wish I had discovered these when they first came out!

UPDATE (11/01/11): I recently had a minor issue with my reorder, and the owner bent over backward to make things right. She was most gracious! Have heard that this version of the BHA may be discontinued, so I recommend stocking up if you still can. This is an exemplary product!

Conditioner -Joico - Moisture Recovery
rated 4 of 5
GulieQ 10/9/2011 3:51:00 AM

I was pleasantly surprised with the detangling and conditioning from this product. Other reviewers pretty much have said it all. The fragrance made me sneeze--but it smells lovely. It also gave my scalp an itchy rash. Bad for me, but my hair looked lovely. This product was a gift, so I would not have tried it otherwise; I wouldn't repurchase because I'm allergic to the fragrance. The fragrance lasts for a long time--throughout the day.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Continuous Color Lipstick in Honeyplum Glow
rated 5 of 5
GulieQ 10/7/2011 1:59:00 AM

Another discontinued staple... This color is perfect for my skin tone and all my assorted hair colors. This was a staple because of it's color AND because it's very moisturizing, while NOT containing fragrance, shea butter (severely allergic), coconut oil (severely allergic), sesame oil (anaphylaxis) or any of the assorted nut/seed oils that fad in and out. I ran out today, and discovered that it has been discontinued--but I CAN buy a couple backups for 4-8 times markup on ebay or amazon. Am spitting mad. I forgave my HE lipsticks for "Ingredienting" out of my life... but I can't forgive Cover Girl.
