BB Cream -Estee Lauder - Daywear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Creme SPF 35
Groggy 4/25/2012 10:20:00 AM
The lighter shade of this BB cream is too dark for me (I'm in the MAC NC/NW 15-20 range). Make sure you get a sample first! Or just stick with foundation that comes in more than two shades.
Foundations -Dolce & Gabbana - Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation
Groggy 4/18/2012 3:07:00 PM
I give up on this foundation. I just can't find a moisturizer or primer that works well underneath it. And I've tried quite a few. I think liquid foundations are easier to work with and look more natural.
Lipstick -Christian Dior - Addict Lipstick in Diorissime #249
Groggy 5/17/2011 3:11:00 PM
This is a gorgeous pale pink that's warm and peachy and has a beautiful finish. You do have to apply quite a few coats to see it, so you might be better off with a pale pink lip gloss. These Addict lipsticks are more like colored lip balms than lipsticks.
Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Concealer Kit (Reformulated & New packaging 2011)
Groggy 5/6/2011 11:37:00 AM
This doesn't cover my dark circles at all. The consistency is just too thin. I need something more opaque like MAC's Studio Finish SPF 35 concealer. I'm going to buy the Bobbi Brown corrector to see if that helps boost the coverage.
This primer is okay (much better than the L'Oreal one), but Smashbox is still the only primer that keeps my t-zone shine-free.
Makeup Brushes -Cover FX - Cover FX Cream Foundation Brush 160
Groggy 1/26/2011 12:01:00 PM
Before you abandon your Cover FX because you're not getting the finish or coverage you were hoping for, you need to try this cream foundation brush. This brush is magic for the Cover FX cream foundation. It's way better than a regular foundation brush, fingers or sponge. It gives a really natural finish and I'm loving the Cover FX foundation again. However, I agree with the reviewer below. It soaks up a lot of liquid foundation and leaves a weird finish. But for the cream foundation, it's pretty amazing and worth the investment.
Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
Groggy 12/30/2010 1:54:00 PM
I was hoping to like this because of the great price, but this primer is just too thick to apply, and it doesn’t control shine very well on me. I'm sticking with the Smashbox primer for now.
Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Indeed Nanoblur
Groggy 11/10/2010 4:31:00 PM
I think you're better off putting a primer underneath your foundation rather than Nanoblur on top of your foundation. It's pretty liquidy, so it can make your foundation streak. I can't say it made my skin look better either. Definitely not 10 years younger! I will not be repurchasing.
Ugh! I'm surprised Allure picked this as their top mascara this year. It leaves my lashes clumpy and poker straight. However, I'm not too upset since I get the perfect fan of lashes with Lash Stiletto -- definitely my new fav.
I am SHOCKED how much I love this mascara. It gives me a perfect, full fan of lashes. This is definitely my new favourite, everyday drugstore mascara.
The best lip balm ever! I'm probably on my 10th tube of this stuff. It's the only one that relieves super chapped lips like mine, and the only lip balm I haven't tried is La Mer. So trust me -- this is amazing!
Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
Groggy 6/14/2010 9:05:00 AM
Because this was Allure's top pick for loose powder in 2009, I expected it to be fantastic. I think it's okay. I didn't have any problems with it being too white on my skin (I'm a NC/NW 15), but you can barely tell it's there, which is my problem. My foundation just isn't enough to cover any imperfections, so I like my powder to add a little more coverage, which this didn't do. I think I still prefer powder with a little colour, like the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural or the Laura Mercier loose powder. I do like that it comes in two sizes. If you're going to try this, go for the mini version first. Edit-- On second thought, the more I use this the more I like it! I don't think I was using enough before. I can put a ton of this stuff on and I never look too white. I think it gives a much better finish than the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural.
Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
Groggy 5/5/2010 1:59:00 PM
I love it too! For the first time in my life, I can still see my eye shadow at the end of the day. Plus, it makes my everyday neutrals (like MAC's Naked Lunch) even prettier. If you're into eye shadow, this extra step is worth it.
The primerstone looked great when I saw the demo on TV, but in practice, it's a different story. The problem with putting liquid foundation over a powder primer is that you have to use much more foundation than you would normally use since it's tough to spread the liquid over the powder. It's way easier to apply liquid foundation over the Smashbox primer or just plain moisturizer (and you get a much more natural finish). I ended up looking like I had way too much makeup on. Plus, it only worked with the DuWop liquid foundation and not my other foundations. I say spend your money on a different primer.
NC/NW 15 girls beware! Fair, the lightest shade of this product, is too dark for my skin. What can you expect from a foundation that only has five shades to choose from? I got suckered into this when I watched the demo on TV. I think the quality of the foundation is okay, but the brush isn't good and I end up applying it with my fingers. You're better off buying a separate foundation brush. After this foundation is finished, I'm moving on.
