Cleansers -Avene - Tolerance Extreme No-Rinse Cleansing Lotion
rated 3 of 5
GothicGal 1/7/2012 11:19:00 PM

This was great on my sensitive skin - no irritation at all. But I chose to give this 3 lippies instead of 4 because it really doesn't take makeup off very well. Actually it takes at least 3 applications of the gel on my face & wiping off to remove most of my makeup (& then I'm pretty sure not all of it comes off). So that's why I won't buy this again. It is expensive for something that doesn't work so well. However after I use this my skin feels really nice :-) so I am happy to finish the bottle off.

Skincare - Face -Avene - Thermal Water
rated 2 of 5
GothicGal 1/7/2012 11:10:00 PM

I don't get this product, I really don't. It seems like a bit of a gimmick - ala French mineral spring water in a can. I used it on my sunburn & noticed no difference - just as effective as spraying tap water on my skin really. But it is *expensive* so yeah, I guess that makes it all better. The bottle is cheap & the spray sorta hits you hard in a fast spritz - the sorta thing you don't want to do directly on your face & near your eyes. Avene could have done way better with this one. Won't be buying it again.

Moisturizers -Avene - skin recovery cream (US name: cream for intolerant skin)
rated 5 of 5
GothicGal 1/7/2012 11:03:00 PM

I found this fantastic for my sensitive skin. It does calm redness & felt soothing. But it is a very heavy/greasy moisturiser, so when I tried using it under my makeup during the day I found I was melting a lot & needed constant powder touch ups (not good!). As a skin repair cream used at night I absolutely adore it. It is very expensive, as goes with Avene products. But I do believe this cream is worth it for the soothing effects I get from it. Didn't break me out either.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Kitschmas
rated 4 of 5
GothicGal 1/5/2012 10:26:00 PM

This is soooo purrritty ^__^ If you like lilac frosty, shimmery shades you'll love this (& I do!). The colour is semi-sheer silver/rose-lilac shimmer with glitter. I didn't find the glitter to be chunky? Lots of ppl's seem to but nope, definately not chunky. It is just very shimmery, which is what this shade is all about. I found it easy to apply with a eyelid primer underneath, & it stayed on all day very well. I have very pale skin & this shade suited me very well. It is subtle in that the colour is light & shimmery, but still stands out. It has this ethereal look which is just enchanting! I wear it during the day but I'm not in a professional work place - I can see how this shade wouldn't be seen as professional :-) Anyway I simply adore this colour & totally recommend it to all you shimmery fans out there!

Deodorants -Dove - Go fresh - cucumber & green tea scent
rated 4 of 5
GothicGal 8/23/2011 4:07:00 AM

Great product! I love love love the scent - so fresh & uplifting! Just the sorta thing you want to smell in the morning. Deodorant also does the job, no break through odor. I can't obviously give this 5 lippies as it has aluminum, & other nasties in it. But that aside, good product & will buy again.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - QV - Naked Fragrance Free Aluminium Free Deoderant
rated 1 of 5
GothicGal 8/23/2011 12:21:00 AM

Yuk! This is just plain awful. Yes it has no aluminum - but that is the only thing going for this product. It is supposed to have no fragrance but it smells like stove gas & a general chemical smell. Really gross! It worked ok at keeping odour away, not excellent. If I didn't spray tons of this on I found it didn't work at all. And the final cherry on the top was the gross discharge that started oozing from the canister nozzle every time I used it. I've has this for a month & it has clogged the whole nozzle up with gunk so I can't use it anymore. Which is fantastic bc it's an awful product & needed to be thrown out. Buyer beware - don't buy!!!!!

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - retractable kabuki
rated 5 of 5
GothicGal 8/22/2011 6:57:00 AM

My HG powder brush! Absolutely love it! I use this brush with my MAC Studio Fix pressed powder and it works puuuurfectly! I have owned & used the MAC loose powder brush & it pales in comparison to ecotools kabuki. I would recommend this to everyone who wants a brush that effectively applies powder without loosing half of it in the actual brush.

Lip Treatments -Chapstick - Lip Moisturizer SPF 15 Original Flavor
rated 3 of 5
GothicGal 8/17/2011 7:03:00 AM

This does what it says - it moisturises dry lips. I love the fact it is unscented - I hate all these synthetic, sickly sweet chemical smelling balms on the market! Problem is there is something in this product (& all chapstick products) that makes my lips tingle & burn. Maybe it's just me but I hate the sensation of burn-y lips. So I won't buy again. The price is great though, & it works so go for it i say. I've bought waaay too many over priced balms that don't work, & all you end up with is waxy, dry lips. This product isn't one of them.

Eye Makeup Remover -Avene - Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
rated 4 of 5
GothicGal 8/15/2011 6:34:00 AM

I really liked this. Firstly my eyes are uber sensitive & when I tried this they had been battling some eyelid dry itchy redness. This product took my eye makeup off easily & *shock* with no irritation. My eyes actually felt better! This product is fantastic because it puts moisture back into the eye area. This is a much needed thing for dry, red eyelids. No irritation or greasy, irritating eye gritty feeling either. I paid $21 for a bottle & I had to remove a lippie as I needed to use a fair bit. I anticipate going through this bottle quite fast, so not very good value for money. Nevertheless I will definately buy this lil gem again as it actually helped my eyelids. So thumbs up Avene!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
rated 5 of 5
GothicGal 8/12/2011 4:03:00 AM

This is a wonderful product. I use it as a lid primer before applying eye shadows, and just by itself on days I don't wear any shadow. Worn by itself it really evens out the lid colour and perfects a flawless foundation look. I use NC15 studio fix and soft ochre is a perfect colour for the lids. It brightens my eyes, and yep I really do love it. Worn as a primer under an eye shadow it works really well. First of all, if using MAC loose pigment shadow this product is a must. It keeps the shadow in place without it all falling or smudging off. No creases either. Fantastic product! Love it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Violet
rated 5 of 5
GothicGal 8/11/2011 11:27:00 PM

So many wasted years *sob* *sob*. I bought Violet the other day for the first time & it has become my HG purple eyeshadow. It is sooooo amazingly puuurrretty! Agh I'm so excited! First the pigmentation in this is breathtaking. It is an intense violet colour that makes green eyes pop! It stays on incredibly well, but I always use MAC paint pot primer before applying this. If you apply this to a naked lid it will not stay well (given it is a loose powder it makes sense it needs to stick to something). I paid $39 for this, so is a lil exy BUT totally worth it for such an amazing shade. And a little goes a long long way, so there's your value for money! I can't fault this shadow. If you love purple then you have to buy this right now!!!!! If you don't like purple buy it anyway cause it is *that good* :-)

Gels/Soaps -St. Ives - Triple butters Vanilla Crème
rated 2 of 5
GothicGal 8/5/2011 7:23:00 AM

Ugh! The smell of this is overpowering. I am a vanilla addict but this just smelt bad. An overly sickly sweet synthetic vanilla scent. Way too strong, but doesn't linger on the skin thankfully. I expected the formula to be thicker, as it was a triple butter - was expecting something like Dove's triple moisturizing body wash. Thick & luxurious. But it had the same consistency as the St Ives vanilla body wash - a sticky egg yolk feeling. So I was disappointed. It doesn't dry the skin which is good, & there are no parabens which I guess is a bonus. Still, not a fan of this bodywash.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - DermaVeen - Eczema Moisturiser
rated 5 of 5
GothicGal 7/23/2011 6:30:00 AM

This stuff is fantastic as a facial moisturiser for people suffering from red, dry skin! It has helped my eczema and dry skin beyond belief. The moisturiser itself is smooth, thick and non-greasy. It soothes the skin. It doesn't clog pores. A little bit goes a long way, so it's also very economical. A real gem, I'd recommend this to everyone.

Bath Treatments -Unlisted Brand - DermaVeen - Shower and Bath Oil
rated 3 of 5
GothicGal 7/23/2011 6:16:00 AM

Like all DermaVeen products, this is fantastic for sensitive skin. This bath oil is very gentle on the skin and is great as a body cleanser. I love having an oil for a shower wash, the texture is nice (albeit a bit grainy). It doesn't foam or lather, so it's not something you could lathe up on a sponge or anything. But it does the job without drying out your skin.

Hair Color -Schwarzkopf - LIVE Hair Dyes
rated 1 of 5
GothicGal 7/23/2011 6:04:00 AM

I hate this mo-fo! I colour my hair a lot. So I decided to use LIVE hair dye in chocolate brown a few years back. I don't know *what* is in this formula but i had a full blown allergic reaction to it. My palms, torso, head went insanely itchy, red and irritated. I had to go on steroids, etc to stop the reaction. It was AWFUL! In conclusion, I hate this product so much. It gives me nightmares to this day. I continue to use other hair dyes with no reactions. So wtf LIVE, wtf???!!!
