Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Liquid Liner - Oil Slick
GoddessGreenEyes 2/25/2010 12:02:00 PM
Overall, UD liquid liners are the best I have ever used. I love the tiny little brushes that replace the felt-tip pens found in so many other liquid liners. The product goes on smoothly and stays EXACTLY where you put it (which could be a problem if and when you mess up your application!). It's long-wearing, and most of the colors contain a bit of sparkle. Plus, the packaging shows you just how much color you have left, so you know when to re-stock! Oil Slick is my top pick, my go-to liner. I have the liner in several other colors, but OS is a perfect black. I have really fair skin and green eyes and red hair, so you'd think a black liquid liner would wash me out. This one doesn't because it has a bit of added shine to it, and it tends to lean a bit on the grey side just a bit. I only use it on my top lids because using it on the bottom would be too bold and WOULD wash me out. The sparkle in this particular black somehow brings out the green in my eyes, making them appear even greener. I have NO idea how that happens, but it does. I don't plan on ceasing to use this product any time in the near future. UD hit the gold mine when it came up with this one! BTW: If you want your eyes to look extra-sparkly and wide-awake with a good deal of black, try this color as your eyeliner and YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils as your mascara. The mascara is a bit shiny, too (and gives you va-va-va-VOOM lashes!), and together, these products make your eyes take center stage!

Blush -Rimmel - Blush in Santa Rose
GoddessGreenEyes 12/12/2009 6:36:00 PM
It was fun to stumble across a review about this color/product because I had some of it sitting in my bathroom that I'd had for ages but hadn't yet opened. I'd bought it because I really liked the peachy-pink color but just hadn't ever used it. When I applied it, I could have sworn I had just put on Orgasm by Nars - the color is THAT CLOSE. The blush doesn't have the Nars staying power, but the color is beautfiul and really versatile. Not to mention cheap-cheap-cheap! I only took off one lippie because of staying power (or lack thereof).

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Liquid Liner in Smog
GoddessGreenEyes 12/9/2009 6:52:00 AM
Urban Decay really kills the competitors with this liner. It's shimmery but not in a way that brings attention to little lines around the eyes or to dark circles. I'm not sure why that is - maybe the subtle use of the shimmer itself in this formula simply brings people's eyes to the gorgeous lines you can create with this liner and not to imperfections. Lots of shimmery products don't last, but this one can go for at LEAST 12 hours (I've never left it on longer). And after you remove it, there can tend to be a few little bits of it left, so you may have to cleanse your eye area again, but that's not a problem for me. The one thing that bugs me about this product is the bottle - the liner brush doesn't reach all the way to the bottom of the bottle -- how am I supposed to get any color out once the first half is gone? But I digress. Smog is fabulous because of its brown-moss color. The application (as with all UC's liquid liners) is goof-proof, and I'd recommend this one to anyone with green eyes. My eyes are green, and the color really brings out my eye color. Pair it with YSL Faux Cils mascara (in black or their fabulous mossy-green color), and your beautiful eyes are ready to shimmer and attract stares!

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
GoddessGreenEyes 12/6/2009 3:48:00 PM
I know that I've listed several other mascaras as my HG mascaras in the past as I went along and tried new ones along the way, but there will NEVER be ANY topping of this one. First, the packaging is beautiful, and the tube clicks gently when you close it to keep air out and the product from drying out. I never intended to spend $28 on mascara, but when I couldn't find the blue color I wanted in Esteé Lauder's Sumptuous (which had been my HG before this), I researched and found that this mascara had the exact blue that I wanted. Second, the color ranges of this mascara are fabulous. I purchased the navy blue, which I used at the tips of my lashes to make the whites of my eyes look whiter, and one day skipped my usual black mascara (DiorShow, which I had been tipping with the navy YSL) and coated my lashes with only one coat of my navy YSL. The result was AMAZING. I found that if I wiggled the brush from the roots of my lashes to the ends, the mascara coated my lashes completely and not only added superior, lush volume, but unbelievable length, as well. SERIOUS length! I added two more coats and had the longest lashes of my life! The brush reaches my tiny inner lashes, which is a major plus. It doesn't flake on me, and it stays put for a good 12 hours. I LOVE the fact that it lasts so long without flaking and making my lashes stiff. As far as I'm concerned, this one is worth every single penny I spend on it. I now have it in five colors, and I'll be replacing every one when they run out! I can say with confidence that no other mascara will EVER top this one!! It's my permanent Holy Grail!

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay in Place Lip Duo
GoddessGreenEyes 11/25/2008 2:35:00 PM
Not a great product. I use NOTHING but Estee Lauder products - in general, anyway. I've tried my friends' versions of the Max Factor and Cover Girl versions of long-lasting lipsticks with topcoats, and the only way that this one is different is that instead of having a separate tube with the topcoat, the topcoat with this is a brush included in the lipstick wand, which makes it pretty handy. However, the color only lasts on me for about four hours, and the topcoat tends to fade fast, making my lips feel dry. I'm fairly disappointed in this product.

Eyeliner -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Zero-Smudge Liquid Eye Liner
GoddessGreenEyes 10/5/2008 10:45:00 AM
GORGEOUS PRODUCT! I have NEVER been one to regularly use a liquid liner. I could never hold my hand still long enough or the lid straight enough to line my eyes without shaking and smudging the liquid liner everywhere, thus, smudging my eyeshadow and ruining my entire eyeshadow application. Which meant, yeah, having to start all over. But when the BA at EL showed me how to use this, I was so excited - it has a VERY firm point, so it doesn't go anywhere but where you want it to settle, and the color is very concentrated, giving you a lot of color, whether it be a small precision line or a thicker, more dramatic one. You still have to move the liner very slowly to as not to stray from the line, but once this product starts on a line, it sticks to the point and makes it pretty hard to go anywhere but, well, the end of the line. Thank you, Lauder, for a gift that finally has me using liquid liner every day! :) P.S. Using this on the top lids close to your lashlines with new EL Sumptuous mascara will make your eyelashes so beautiful that they'll appear false. Beautiful combination, I promise!

Gels/Soaps -Olay - Winter Retreat Body Wash in Vanilla Essence for Extra Dry Skin
GoddessGreenEyes 10/5/2008 10:34:00 AM
EDIT: After about two weeks after using this cleanser, I broke out in a hellacious rash that encompassed every pore of my body. Something similar to that had happened to me once before, eons ago, when I'd used a much older Olay cleanser. Also, since I wrote this review, The Rash has hit my best friend, to whom I gave two bottles of this. I wouldn't recommend it now, and I definitely won't buy. If you're skin's not sensitive, though, you're probably fine. This cleanser makes my skin feel soooooooooooo soft and leaves just a faint scent of vanilla on skin after the product is rinsed off. I have weird skin - most of it's dry, but some parts will always be oily. This product does a great job of moisturizing my skin, but doesn't contribute to any oiliness. I'm really upset that this one is a "limited edition." Between the lovely scent and the good that it does my skin, I would love to see it as a 'keeper!"

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Sumptuous
GoddessGreenEyes 10/5/2008 9:20:00 AM
OK, ladies, let's break out the Dom and the Godiva in celebration of the most fantastic EL mascara formula and brush in a LONG time! While I'm a die-hard EL Lash XL and DiorShow loyalist, I'm probably going to be buying this one instead of the other two for the time being. It gives flirty but thick, out-there but not false-looking, and deeply pigmented lashes. Perfect for those clandestine winks at the guys who buy you drinks at your favorite club! Remember, though, that it takes a teenier amount to dry than most mascaras, but once it's on, it's ON. Eye makeup remover (I like Lauder's) helps remove all the color when you're ready to part with your unflaking, smudgeproof, voluminous, Sumptuous lashes. But don't worry - you can always put it on the next day!

Conditioner -Pantene - Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner
GoddessGreenEyes 9/12/2008 1:00:00 AM
What a great product! I have been through every single salon shampoo and conditioner under the sun, but I keep being disappointed. After reading in all my beauty magazines that Pantene is the alleged Holy Grail of haircare products, prestige label or not, I had to give it a try. Two liters (one of this conditioner and one of the coordinating shampoo) plus three different deep treatments ran me only $30, the price I would pay for a single liter of one of my Matrix conditioners. I was very skeptical at how this drugstore product would perform on my long, dry, highlighted hair, and I ended up being AMAZED. My hair felt comforted, soothed, silky, and soft. It had an incredible sheen to it (and this is all after only three uses). I do use it in conjunction with the rest of the coordinating products I purchased, and the combination has resulted in phenomenally gorgeous hair for me. I can't remember the last time my hair moved like this, looked healthier, and felt so great! It tops all salon conditioners I've tried - about 65, total. It's dirt-cheap, so definitely give it a shot!

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
GoddessGreenEyes 7/23/2008 4:01:00 PM
I was digging through my Sephora train case for my usual foundation - Estee Lauder Double Wear - and I came across my True Blend instead. I know it's not a long-lasting foundation, but I thought I'd give it a whirl; I hadn't used it yet because I had the DW. It blends like a dream, and there are soooo many colors -- a very good range for women of all colors. I put on Smashbox's primer underneath it, though, to make sure it didn't come off, being a lighter-weight foundation. The coverage is extremely smooth, and if it doesn't match in certain parts of your face (if you have redness in one area or age spots, for example), just blend, blend, blend, and it'll surprise you. Some cases may require concealer, though, if blending and re-applying this foundation doesn't cover all blemishes. That said, I really like this foundation. I put it on after giving up finding my Double Wear, and it really is silky and gives your skin a bit of a glow. I took off one lippie because the bottle could be a little more user-friendly. Other than that, I'm smitten.

Self Tanners -Dove - Dove Energy Glow Daily Moisturizer with subtle Self Tanners - Medium [DISCONTINUED]
GoddessGreenEyes 7/13/2008 9:11:00 AM
Love, love, love, LOVE it! This is the only self tanner that doesn't make me orange. Plus, it smells lovely (grapefruityish), and the scent lasts a lot longer than other DHA-containing products. I don't like the smell of DHA, so I was excited when I found that the grapefruit scent of this product lasted for about 8 hours on me. I think it does an admirable job of evenly 'tanning' all over. It works better for me than my EL self tanners, and that's saying a lot, since I'm an EL addict. It soaks into the skin very quickly and doesn't rub off on clothes after I've given it about five minutes to sink in. Builds a lovely gradual tan more quickly than the Jergens brand and smells much better. I'll be repurchasing all summer and into the fall!

Fragrances -Calvin Klein - Escape For Women
GoddessGreenEyes 7/11/2008 6:30:00 PM
I think this is such a beautiful fragrance -- it tends to lean towards the sweet side, though, so if you're not into coconut and pineapple, leave this one alone. I've worn it on and off since 1993, when my at-the-time-college boyfriend gave me a bottle on our anniversary. He then proceeded to buy me the lotion and bath treatment. So, yeah, getting a whiff of this does remind me of him, but it also reminds me of a glorious day on the beach, cavorting in the sun (with SPF 55, of course!). I took off one lippie because it doesn't seem to last very long. But I don't mind respraying - and respraying it isn't a problem; just make sure you don't overdo it because people seem either disgusted with this or in love with it, and you don't want to smell like a stink-bomb to people who dislike it (they might rip it out of your bag and throw it out the train window). I'll always come back to this one, especially since I don't have a 'signature' fragrance. I'm happy CK has kept this one after all this time!

Conditioner -Matrix - Amplify Conditioner
GoddessGreenEyes 7/11/2008 5:59:00 PM
I was only recently introduced to Matrix's Amplify line, although it's been around a while -- the shampoo rocks, giving my hair a lot more 'swing' and getting it clean enough to style well, and the conditioner absolutely rocks! It's extremely complementary to the shampoo. While the shampoo gets the styling gunk out of your hair and gives it body, the conditioner works by slipping in and out of the knots in your hair (should you have any), and it makes styling, volumizing, and detangling practically miraculous. No weigh-down, and lots of body and shine. It seals in the benefits of the shampoo and gives my hair a ton of body. I'll repurchase and repurchase! :) I love this line!

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Sensuous
GoddessGreenEyes 7/11/2008 5:51:00 PM
TG I got a sample of this before succumbing to the ads, which were really persuasive. The only note I could really recognize was the smell of bug spray in the dry down. I know everyone else has different tastes, but if you're wearing this in a movie theater and sitting next to me, I'm changing seats! Blegh!
