Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Whisper
rated 1 of 5
Ghoulina 1/9/2013 10:44:00 PM

I bought this in Petal Rebel and there is nothing rebellious about it. It is so sheer it might as well be clear. I knew it wasn't going to be opaque, but neither did I expect it to be completely sheer - even after running it over my lips more times than I like. Maybe if you have pale lips you'll get some colour out of this, but I get nothing. I don't like the smell (is it fruity? caramel-ish?) or the taste and the consistency is thin and feels kinda slimy. Hate it.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible in Endless Pearl
rated 1 of 5
Ghoulina 1/30/2012 9:06:00 AM

I had such high hopes for this eyeshadow, but unfortunately was very let down. In the pot the shade is somewhat similar to MAC Brule and I was hoping it would have even better colour payoff since pigments often do. It didn't. Even with a base Endless Pearl applied very unevenly and awkwardly sheer. I tried building it up, but that just made it look even more uneven and almost streaky. I also don't really like the packaging - having a window on the bottom and a label on the top threw me off, I opened it upside-down the first time...maybe I'm just a doofus. Really regret buying this and most definitely will not repurchase.

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Liner #13 Black
rated 1 of 5
Ghoulina 6/20/2011 8:44:00 PM

Pros - the brush is small & stiff which I actually like for lining because it's easier to get a precise line. Cons - does not last, is not waterproof, flakes off, overpriced. I thought this was going to be long-lasting like MAC's Liquilast liners only with a better brush. Unfortunately it is the crumbliest eyeliner I've ever used! Even after shaking vigorously I couldn't believe how much it flaked off. The first day I wore it, it flaked so badly that I ended up with only half of my eye lined. Absolutely awful especially for the price :( I've found waterproof liquid liners at the drugstore that work better than this. I'm so disappointed!

Mascara -Maybelline - The Falsies in Black Drama
rated 2 of 5
Ghoulina 3/29/2011 1:53:00 AM

I had heard good things about this mascara and really wanted to give it a try. I don't really like it. The brush is jointed which makes it wobbly and a bit unweildy. The formula is really wet and messy, blinking made it smear under my eyes. The worst part was that it made me look like I had about five eyelashes because it clumped them all together. I tried applying this many different ways, even using a lash comb and each time I got the same result - super clumpy lashes. It didn't give me much length and no volume (unless you count clumpiness as volume) I never have good luck with Maybelline mascaras but I keep trying them for some reason :P

Polishes -Revlon - Top Speed Nail Enamel - Royal
rated 2 of 5
Ghoulina 12/18/2010 5:11:00 AM

This colour looks amazing in the bottle - a deep but still vibrant cobalt. It goes a bit darker on the nail but I still loved it. However the wear on this is absolutely terrible. I had tipwear just hours after application (with topcoat!) and by the end of the day it was just totally demolished. It looked like week-old polish! I might experiment around with different bases & topcoats to see if I can make this work because I do love the colour but it's a pretty disappointing product. Definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Wetslicks Amazemint-Slaphappy
rated 3 of 5
Ghoulina 7/31/2010 9:52:00 PM

Slap Happy is a cute peachy pink shade in the tube but unfortunately applies very sheer. On my pigmented lips, it adds a bit of gloss but not much colour. The feel of the gloss is very nice and smooth, not sticky at all and not greasy feeling either. My favourite part of this gloss is the cool minty tingle you get when you apply it. It also has a minty scent, but it's rather toothpaste-y (probably owing to the fact that it's made with Crest peppermint oil) Overall a nice gloss if you want something to throw in your purse for on-the-go application. Not the best in terms of lasting power and colour opacity though :P

Polishes -Sally Hansen - HD Nail Color in DVD
rated 1 of 5
Ghoulina 6/13/2010 4:06:00 AM

After being so horrendously disappointed in "Blu" I had sworn off buying these polishes. But sneaky SH managed to tempt me with the new shimmery sparkly shades for summer. I caved and bought DVD which looks like an incredible blue-violet with tons of sparkle and iridescent shimmer that goes from blue to aqua to red-pink. However to get bottle colour on my nails I needed five coats. That is more coats than I like to wear. This polish is so sheer (which I should have already known after using Blu) and the drying time is a pain. It takes hours to fully dry without being "dentable" I waited two hours and still managed to "peel" off some of the polish while zipping up my hoodie. Ughh. I also got tipwear after only one night of wear. This polish is not worth it unless you like really sheer polishes or like to layer, even then it's not the greatest because of the long dry time. I'd recommend OPI's DS Royal. A bit pricier, but infinitely better.

Polishes -Zoya - Zara
rated 5 of 5
Ghoulina 8/27/2009 1:55:00 AM

I really adore this colour! Zara is a mid-tone lilac with beautiful gold shimmer. I love that it's such a unique shade! Application was really easy, this polish has a great consistency - not too thick, not too thin. It did take about three coats to make it completely opaque, but the colour is so gorgeous it's a small price to pay ^_^ I also love the lasting power. With a topcoat, I've had this polish on for an entire week without without a single chip. That NEVER happens!

Mascara -Prestige - My Biggest Lashes
rated 5 of 5
Ghoulina 8/27/2009 1:46:00 AM

This mascara is like the drugstore sister of Diorshow. Not an exact dupe, but very very close. Both Diorshow and My Biggest Lashes have a large brush, the difference being that MBL has a fuller brush with more closely placed bristles. This is actually a slight downside as the sparser placement on the Diorshow wand keeps prevents clumping better. With MBL, you might have to use a lash comb to get lashes fully separated. The actual formulations of both mascaras seem really similar even down to consistency. I notice that MBL gives more length and a darker colour than Diorshow which I love. Overall a fantastic mascara, gives really good length, darkens my lashes nicely and paired with Shiseido's mascara base makes my lashes look huge!

Lips -DuWop - Lip Venom V - Twilight Venom
rated 2 of 5
Ghoulina 8/16/2009 6:06:00 PM

Much like a vampire, this stuff sucks! I followed the directions and shook the tube up, then applied a thin layer to my lips. The colour went on very patchy so I rubbed my lips together in an attempt to spread it out. This only caused a lot of the product to go straight into my mouth. Yuck. I wiped it off and went to try again, this time using my fingers to spread the colour. Still uneven and blotchy :( I suppose I could have tried again with a lip brush, but I just don't like this product enough for it to be worth the effort! I also dislike the texture of this, it's very oily/greasy and thin. The cinnamon scent and flavour isn't too bad but it can be a little much at times. Plumping effect is minimal.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - HD Nail Color in Blu
rated 1 of 5
Ghoulina 8/7/2009 11:37:00 PM

In the bottle, this colour looks like a brilliant slightly shimmery true-blue. However, in order to get it to show up as vibrantly on your nails, you will need upwards of three coats! The formula is very thin, runny and prone to streaks. Despite using thin layers, I still couldn't get a very even application. I quit after three coats and had to settle for a semi-sheer finish with some uneven-ness and bald spots (very noticeable in bright light) Staying power is poor. Even using a great topcoat, I got tipwear within a day and chips within two days. Overall, the colour is pretty but the quality is regrettable. I'd rather spend a few bucks more and buy an OPI!

Eye Shadow -ModelCo - Colour Box Eyeshadow #05 Seychelles
rated 1 of 5
Ghoulina 7/8/2009 12:31:00 AM

I'm really glad I found this eyeshadow at TJ Maxx because paying full price for it ($20) would have been a tragedy. Seychelles looks gorgeous in the pan. A light bronzed peach. I thought it would be the perfect wash of summery colour on my lids. Alas, upon application, it turns a frosty ivory colour that I can only see myself using as maybe a highlight shade. The texture is somewhat chalky and even over a base, it creased within a few hours of wear. Overall a poor quality product that I'll not make the mistake of repurchasing. Although the little hot pink case it came in was awfully cute! :P

Lipstick -Neutrogena - MoistureShine Soothing Lipsheers [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
Ghoulina 7/3/2009 1:21:00 AM

I was drawn to these initially because their packaging resembles the style of Integrate lipsticks that I really like. The Neutrogena tubes are not as well made though - mine came with a loose cap! I bought the shade Frosty Mauve because I thought it would be a nice sheer berry. Unfortunately, when Neutrogena says Lipsheers, they really mean SHEER. There is virtually no colour payoff. On me it applies clear with sparkles :( The texture is the only thing I like about these. It's smooth and feels moisturizing without being greasy or waxy. It has a cool minty tingle that is nice in the summer-time heat! However, you can get the same texture and tingle with more colour payoff from Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers - and for half the price too!

Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Mousse Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
rated 1 of 5
Ghoulina 6/24/2009 8:17:00 PM

The texture of this foundation is thick and creamy and doesn't seem to blend all that well. It's very easy to make streaks if you're not careful. I also find that no matter how little I use, I still look instantly cakey. It does give slightly better coverage than regular colorstay, but honestly I think that's only because the formula itself is thicker. After about two weeks of use I developed the WORST cystic acne I've ever had in my life. Since this was the only new/different product I was using, I'm going to have to assume it was caused by this foundation :( I really didn't like this foundation, my skin is still trying to recover from the awful breakout I got from it. Won't be repurchasing.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rated 3 of 5
Ghoulina 3/8/2009 5:13:00 AM

What drew me to this foundation initially was that the display in the drugstore actually had testers! I never see this, so I was excited! Finally a way to match drugstore foundation without trial and error buying :P This foundation is really nice, easily blendable and gives medium to full coverage. It evened out my skintone and looked matte with a bit of glow. However, after only a few hours of wear, my t-zone started to look rather shiny even though I had set with powder. I think this foundation would be best suited to those with normal to dry skin - it doesn't control shine enough for my combo skin.
