Blush -MAC - Fever
rated 5 of 5

With a lighter hand, even fairer skinned girls can wear this! In fact, this is the most natural looking flush I've ever gotten from a blush. Definitely worth trying even if it looks somewhat scary in the pot - just use a light hand and you just might be as pleasantly suprised as I was!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette

Believe the hype - worth every penny of the invesment. I have no problems with the lighter colors showing as the previous reviewer said. The colors apply rich and creamy and stay all day/night.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - KIRKLAND SULFATE-FREE CONDITIONER
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 9/20/2010 9:48:00 PM

Available for $7.99 at Costco, this conditioner is da bomb! Not an exact dupe of Pureology Nanoworks ingredient list wise, but you can't tell my hair that. I was worried it would over condition my fine, thin hair, but fortunately so far it has given me nothing but soft, shiny, bouncy, great smelling hair. LOVE it!

Hair -Unlisted Brand - KIRKLAND SULFATE-FREE SHAMPOO
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 9/20/2010 7:56:00 PM

I just purchased this shampoo/conditioner yesterday, but I plan to update as time goes on. First of all, it seems to me to be an EXACT dupe of Pureology Nanoworks from smell to appearance to performance. After one wash, my fine, thin, deadbeat hair is soft, fluffy, shiny, healthy looking, and smells delicious. At $8.99/liter for the shampoo and $7.99/liter for the conditioner, my bank account is crying tears of joy and doing back flips. Stay tuned for updates!

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Effet Faux Cils 4 - Fascinating Violet
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 9/17/2010 4:04:00 PM

Jumping on the bandwagon here. I LOVE this mascara. My eyes can range from hazel to chocolate brown depending on the lighting, what I wear, my mood, the price of tea in China, etc. This mascara takes my eyes to another level no matter the color they have chosen to be. The color is so subtle, it is appropriate for any setting without saying "80s Punk Rocker", yet is so dramatic, people will stop and ask what you have done differently because they know something is different, but they just can't put a finger on it. While initially expensive, I feel it is worth it for the effect on my eyes AND the fact the formulation stays fresh without drying or clumping until the entire tube is used up. (Unlike most mascaras that dry out halfway through or sooner). *This mascara is magic.*

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in Khaki Green (7)
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 9/17/2010 3:39:00 PM

I am a huge fan of YSL colored mascaras. While the purple is my hands down favorite, the green is a close second for a soft, daytime look. Initially expensive, these mascaras are worth the investment as they don't dry out and clump up like the majority of mascaras. You WILL be able to use the entire tube without having to throw out half of it. I can't speak to it's volumizing effects as I have uber long, thick lashes to begin with. I do see a definite lengthening effect, however.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Latisse Lash Growth Drops
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 5/13/2010 1:51:00 AM

Hoping to amp up my lashes for upcoming wedding in August, I started using Careprost from alldaychemist.com three and a half months ago. Ordering was a breeze, though my bank called me within minutes of charging my card to ensure it wasn't a fraudulent transaction. It shipped quickly, however took an agonizing two weeks to pass through customs. Once here, it was easy to apply using the "single drop in the cap/fine lip liner brush method". One drop easily covered both upper and lower lashes as well as the sparse ends of both brows where I overplucked years ago. Results were noticeable to me within two weeks, to others within six. By now, my lashes are flippin' amazing! They are so thick, long, and luscious, it looks like I am wearing mascara even when I am not. And when I do, watch out! No side effects noted, though my eyes are already brown and I don't think I would mind if I had some darkening of the lash line. After all, isn't that what eyeliner and shadow do? This product has enhanced my appearance immeasureably. My eyes are now a weapon : ) *Edit Update* Caution, ladies! Don't use this product unless you are prepared to be hated on, lol. My eyes have always been pretty, but with Careprost, they are STUNNING. After 5 months of use, my sparse brows are completely filled in - my new threader made the comment "Your brows are so full and lush! Most ladies have overplucked the ends." Tee hee. My secret! My friends lament how horrible it must be to have "twelve foot long lashes....." (literally, with mascara, they touch my brows). I've had a blast playing with colored mascaras and different shadows. I can't recommend this product enough. Uh-maz-ing! Now, who is going to come up with a scalp treatment containing this stuff for us fine, thin haired ladies? Guaranteed gold mine.........

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Nail Magic
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 5/13/2010 1:36:00 AM

Only. Product. Ever. To. Grow. My. Nails. Seriously. I have battled genetically thin nails my entire life. Coupled with my career as a nurse (constantly washing hands and using drying alchohol hand sanitizers), my nails were hideous. Even with a rigorous routine of several daily vitamins, multiple daily applications of hand creme, nightly pure lanolin, proper filing techniques, religious use of every basecoat known to man, yadda yadda yadda, my nails would not grow. They split, chip, peeled, you name it. Enter "Magic Nails". As promised, the nails continued to behave as usual for the first few weeks, then finally VOILA - for the first time ever in my entire 36 years, my nails grew, and grew strong. For the first time ever, I had whites extending past the tips on all ten of my fingers. I've never gone through so many nail files before in my life. My rock hard nails chewed right through them! I had to actually CLIP my nails down, they had gotten so long. AND so strong, they actually broke a pair of Dollar Store clippers. Unheard of for my genetically puny nails. I will NEVER be without my Nail Magic and intend on passing the gospel on to anyone who will listen.

Deodorants -Suave - 24-Hour Protection Invisible Solid in Unscented
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 1/28/2010 12:16:00 AM

This has been my HG deoderant for years. I purchase it in either Unscented or Fresh. I shower once a day on a regular basis and this deoderant consistently keeps me dry despite being very active (10 hour shift nursing job, etc). If I forget to apply, I notice within an hour of leaving the house and believe me, it isn't pretty! Best of all, it's cheap and I can find it pretty much anywhere.

Tools -Gillette - Mach 3 Razor (Men's)
rated 2 of 5
GeminisMommy 1/26/2010 12:49:00 AM

The reviews are great and Hubby won't let any other razor touch his skin but the Mach 3, however it just didn't work for me. The shave was uneven - cutting and burning me in some areas and not shaving close enough in others. Before ditching it, I tried it with a variety of shaving mediums - soap, shave cream, shaving oil - all with the same disastrous results. The only plus is the reduced waste with only the cartriage being disposable (vs. the entire razor with other disposables). I'm sticking with my Gillette Daisy from now on!

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Pur Opium Red 131
rated 3 of 5
GeminisMommy 10/29/2009 4:41:00 PM

Let me preface this review by saying I rarely wear lipstick as I find it to be too drying for my lips. In addition, the glosses I wear tend to be on the neutral side and usually on the browner side of the palette (i.e. Chanel Glossimer in Giggle). Hoping to pull off a 1940s Silver Screen Goddess look for my upcoming wedding, I have started the search for The Perfect Red. Based on reviews, and in an effort to save money in the long run, I went straight to the top and purchased YSL Opium Red. In hindsight, I should've started my search at the brick and mortar stores instead of going online, however lack of free time and glowing reviews as "the truest red out there, a red any woman can wear, etc" in the end were just too seductive to resist. While unpacking my Sephora order, I was prepared to find an orange-y red in the tube, as previous reviews had warned me. I was pleasantly surprised to find a gorgeous red instead. Trembling with excitement ("this could indeed be my wedding day red!"), I applied the lipstick. I was VERY impressed with the formulation - creamy, non irritating or drying, highly pigmented. I couldn't help but notice how bright my face looked IMMEDIATELY upon applying this lipstick. Despite being VERY early in the morning, I suddenly looked awake and glamourous. UNFORTUNATELY, instead of warming up to a perfect red as promised, the longer I wore it, the more orange it looked. Within 10 minutes, it looked like I was wearing coral. It was still beautiful, but in no way red. I will definitely wear it again - as a flattering coral - but, alas, the search for the HG red continues........

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Sensaria Soothing Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 10/28/2009 2:55:00 AM

I freely admit, I detest home sale products. I hate feeling pressured to buy an overpriced product I will not like and detest inviting people over to my house and making them feel pressured to buy said product. That being said, this cleanser ROCKS. I have very sensitive, combination skin and have struggled for years trying to find the perfect fit in skincare routines. Reluctantly, I gave this a try and have found the perfect combination in Sensaria's soothing cleanser, soothing toner, and hydrating lotion. This creamy (non sudsing) cleanser can be used sparingly and will still remove every trace of grime and makeup from your skin, leaving a completely blank slate. That black/brown stuff you see on your cotton balls after washing and toning your skin? That's what your cleanser should be removing but isn't. You won't see that with this cleanser. It initially seems pricy, but I'm yet to reach the halfway point on my first bottle 9 months into using it twice daily. This cleanser has never irritated my skin and I love that the ingredients are (mostly) all natural. Some of the "Key Ingredients" Glycerin, humectant, draws moisture to the skin Panthenol, humectant Pro-Vitamin B5 Comfrey Leaf, soothing and emollient Sodium PCA, balances moisture level in skin Milk Protein, soothes during cleansing Linseed, calms signs of sensitivity Hyaluronic Acid, binds 1000 times its weight in water to the skin Licorice, soothing and calming Gotu Kola, calms and soothes the skin Marigold, calms during cleansing Horse Chestnut, naturally cleansing and moisturizing The only drawback - you cannot buy this product in a store and must buy it through a representative or through the company website.

Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - Very Emollient body lotion Unscented
rated 5 of 5
GeminisMommy 10/28/2009 2:29:00 AM

I was surprised this lotion is not rated higher as it is my HG body lotion. I appreciate the fact it is paraben free and mineral oil free. My skin prefers all natural products and literally drinks this lotion in. I buy large jugs of it for super cheap at Vitacost which last forever, so the pay off in the long run is definitely worth it. I prefer the unscented version, as the scented is thinner/runnier and smells too perfumey for me. As others have commented, it is perfect as a body lotion, but isn't quite strong enough on it's own as a hand lotion. I mix it with a bit of coconut oil for my hands and feet, which seems to work well.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
rated 3 of 5
GeminisMommy 6/27/2009 8:25:00 PM

Eh, I could take this product or leave it. I was impressed with the length - made it super easy to exfoliate every nook and cranny of my back. The price was great, too (under 3 USD at H Mart). However, I found it too rough for my liking and feel microfiber cloths are gentler on my skin and do a better job.

Lip Gloss -DuWop - Lip Venom
rated 2 of 5
GeminisMommy 4/15/2009 3:26:00 AM

I love the name and like the roller ball application, but that's about it. I dislike the cinnamon taste and am not fond of the burning sensation on my lips. I get the concept, but it fails to deliver for me in the lip plumping category. I definitely recommend trying before you buy, or you will likely be disappointed.
