Loose Powders -NARS - Light Reflecting Setting Powder
GalileosDaughter 2/10/2013 5:21:00 PM
This review is for the loose powder. The powder works wonderfully well at blurring imperfections and giving your skin a "soft focus" look. It has no shimmer or sparkle. It does not dry out my dry skin; however, I have always used it on a well-moisturized face, over Hourglass Mineral Primer. This product has no perfume or added scent; however, it does have a tiny bit of a smell if you try to smell it-kind of like cornstarch-not a bad smell. The jar of loose powder will probably last forever-I need to use just a tiny amount each time. The product comes with no brush or puff. I use my Bobbi Brown mini Face Blender Brush, which works really well. I just pick up the tiniest amount of product and gently sweep in onto my skin in a circular motion. The only thing I don't like about this product is that it's a bit messy-the powder is so finely milled it goes everywhere when you open the cap. I wish that the holes in the shaker top were smaller so less product would come out. I probably will never need to repurchase, but if so, I will buy the pressed version.
Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner

This is a decent cleansing conditioner. My extremely dry, wavy hair felt clean, but only moderately conditioned after using it for a week. I'm not a fan of the vanilla-amber-spice smell that this and other argan oil products seem to have. It is a good price, though, if you want to try cleansing conditioners.
The best waterproof mascara that gives a dramatic look. No fragrance, doesn't smudge or flake- really a great mascara.
Love this soap! It cleanses my dry, sensitive skin very well. I have mild rosacea and this leaves my skin feeling soft and calm. I use it with the Aloe Vera toner and the Kera Moist Protective cream. You can free samples from their website-make sure to fill out the questionnaire.
It looks beautiful, really dramatizes my lashes, but smudges very easily. I had black soot around my eyes by the end of the day.
Lipstick -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Honey

The color looks nice for a while, then becomes really dry and cakey looking. It's also extremely drying. I tried it with different glosses on top, but it still looked bad (and was still very drying). YMMV, but I was very disappointed in this product.
This is a fun, light, "interesting" vanilla. Not foody or creamy or boozy, just sweet vanilla tempered with anise, with a little orange blossom. The orange blossom gives it a little "lift," but the fragrance is not a floral by any means. The anise is not prominent to me, and it's not like a licorice anise, but more like star anise. It is sheer but wafts beautifully. Alone it's great, but layers well with Orange Blossom.
I bought Amber Nectar on a whim in the drugstore because it looked so pretty. What a wonderful surprise! This make a lovely glowy blush for my NC10-15 skintone. I apply with my Sonia Kashuk skunk brush. It's not too glittery--just pearly and glowy. The color in the lightest/white "rose" is perfect for a highlighter. I apply a touch of just the lightest/white "rose" to the tops of my cheekbones and under my brows. I wish they made a full pan of just this color!
Porcelain Peach is the best corrector I have ever tried. It completely erases my undereye darkness without giving me the "reverse raccoon" look. (Im NC 10-15, Bobbi Brown Alabaster for reference). Love the consistency. It's very easy to pat on with your finger or to use a brush. I prefer patting it in with my ring finger, the heat seems to help the concealer "melt" into my skin. I love this product and will rebuy again and again!
Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ooh la lift!

This product stung my undereye area! Had to throw it away. :(
This review is for the "protective cream," Kera Moist Cream. This cream, along with the Cream Soap and Aloe Toner, has really helped to calm the redness in my skin. I have mild rosacea, and have found that since folllowing the Mario Badescu regimen, I am using my prescription Finacea less and less. Thank you Mario Badescu!
Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Luminous Moisturizing Foundation

Love this foundation! Thank you Bobbi Brown for making a foundation that comes in a wide color range and has no irritating chemical sunscreen! I am very pale (NC 10-15), and Alabaster is one of the few foundations I can wear. As someone with extremely sensitive skin, I am so thankful to find a foundation without avobenzone, oxybenzone, or other irritating sunscreen ingredients. This foundation evens out my skintone nicely while still looking natural. I always have two backup bottles of this foundation. I will repurchase again and again.
Goes on very wet and gloopy. Looks okay only after I've spent several minutes combing through it. After all the hype, I was expecting dramatic lashes, but no, just regular lashes. Not worth the $ or effort. Lovely packaging, though.
I encourage everyone to give this sample system a try. I filled out the online form and within a couple of hours, I had an email from MB with some follow-up questions. About 3-4 days later, I received generous samples of products specifically for me. I have mild rosacea, and the products really seem to work! I ordered full sizes of most everything in the sample pack. The products recommended for my dry, mild rosacea, mid-forties skin were as follows: Cream Soap, Aloe Vera Toner, Control Cream, Kera Moist Cream, Hyaluronic Eye Cream. Very impressed!
Blush -Clinique - Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher in Honey Blush
GalileosDaughter 1/22/2012 4:54:00 PM
I tried this blush on a whim and really like it! It shows up just fine on my NC15 skin. It is matte-don't be put off by what looks like a bit of shimmer on top. Not HG (for me that is NARS Sex Appeal), but overall I'm very pleased with this.
