Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lucas' Papaw Ointment
FrugalMakeupAddict 7/13/2011 9:36:00 AM
I lovely swapper in Australia sent this to me, and I had never heard of it before. I have since made every effort to get my hands on more. Such and amazing multi-use product! I have a tube that I keep in my purse for my lips, and cuticles. It softens both, and keeps them smooth and moisturized. I have tried many MANY things for my lips, and I get a lip rebound from everything except vaseline, and PawPaw. It also has healing properties in it, so I use it on insect bits, scrapes, blisters, dry itchy patches, ingrown fingernails ( its GREAT for this!) and I have even applied it to an angry pimple. It's almost like a natural polysporin. I also have a tub that I keep in my bedside table and every night before I get in bed I take a little with my finger and mix it in my palm with my foot cream and rub it all over my feet. I think that combination has worked the best for me so far out of everything I have tried. In my opinion, this is a must have product.

Polishes -China Glaze - OMG Collection - L8R G8R
FrugalMakeupAddict 2/5/2010 1:23:00 AM
Fantastic limey green with a good holo effect. Applies well, wears well, but BEWARE this stains the nail.... I had is on my toes for a few weeks and it stained. Just now I was swatching some polishes and I had this on one finger for max of 3 minutes and again it stained. It leaves a yellow/green cast on the nail bed.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
FrugalMakeupAddict 12/8/2009 12:49:00 AM
I have used the aspirin mask for many months now, and I am still loving it. Here is my recipe: I crush up a bunch of aspirins in a ziploc baggie by hitting it with a rolling pin and rolling over it to make it as fine as I can. Then I sift the ground up aspirins through a wire/mesh strainer to get out any large chunks, and any coating from the aspirin. It tends to stay rather whole. ( if you don't want to crush up a bunch at once, just use 2-3 aspirin, with a few drops of water on them to soften them, and crush them with your fingers. I do a bunch at once just to save time, and make it easier since I know I will use them, and I store the powder in a sample jar) I take 1/2 tsp of the crushed up aspirin powder, add a few drops of water ( just enough to make a powdery paste) and about 1/8 tsp of honey. Mix it together and apply with my fingers to a damp face. If it's too dry I spritz my face gently with water after applying. I leave this on for 5-10 minutes, wet my hands and gently exfoliate then rinse with water, then moisturize. If you have especially sensitive skin, you may not want to rub too hard or not at all for exfoliation, because it is quite gritty, and might be too much. I find this to be EXTREMELY calming to my skin, and especially useful if I have some red breakouts. It literally takes a lot of the red out right away. I swear by this. My teenager uses this too with the same results. I do this once a week, or more if I have breakouts.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Spectro Jel for Blemish-Prone Skin (Fragrance Free version)
FrugalMakeupAddict 11/4/2009 9:54:00 AM
I have been using Spectro Jel for sensitive blemish prone skin for a few months now. I am quite impressed with this product. It has contributed to clearing up my skin, and I believe that one of the problems I had was over cleansing. I have oily, somewhat sensitive, breakout prone skin. I was using harsher cleansers, and exfoliaters and I think I was getting a rebound effect in terms of oiliness. I now have very balanced skin with only the odd blemish usually around the time of my period. My 13 year old has also been using this, ( and nothing else) and her skin has cleared up dramatically. It is very gentle, non drying, cleanses effectively with the exception of some of the super-stay formulas of foundation, in which case I use a makeup removing cloth first, then cleanse with Spectro Jel. The price is good for the amount you get and the packaging is convenient with a pump. It is fragrance free, PH balanced, and feels quite gentle on my skin. The scent takes a little getting used to at first. Maybe a little like alcohol? But it dissipates right away. I highly recommend this and I will be re-purchasing for sure.

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Glo Illuminating Powder - Strike-A-Pose-Rose #346
FrugalMakeupAddict 10/23/2009 12:24:00 AM
LOVE this product. I have these in 3 colours. Strike a pose rose is my favourite. I can use it with just about any colour. I have medium toned olive skin, with hazel eyes. This is great as a blush with a natural makeup look, or as a highlighter with another blush. I also have catwalk pink, and the bronze one ( I forget the name) Strike a pose rose is by far the most versitile one. I do have a problem with how fragile the product is, and my other two are already broken. But SAPR is not ( yet). It was hard to find one on the shelf that was not broken though. Other than that, the pigmentation is good, it has great blendability, buildable, has good lasting power, and I don't mind the scent at all. I will buy back ups of this. A+ product, and a great price.

Styling Products -Kenra - Volume Spray (aerosol)
FrugalMakeupAddict 9/23/2009 10:38:00 PM
I bounce back and forth between this and Sebastian Shaper Plus. Shaper+ is my HG, but this is good too. It's a little stiffer than shaper plus I would say, but it holds well, and not sticky. one thing I do not like at all is the smell. VERY VERY strong scent. Not bad really, just very perfumey and it lingers for a looooong time. Interferes with your body spray or perfume scent. Good product though.

Treatments -It's a 10 - Miracle Hair Mask
FrugalMakeupAddict 9/23/2009 9:34:00 PM
LOOOVEEE this product. It is quite a heavy duty treatment and is probably best suited for thick, coarse, frizzy or really damaged hair. I have used it on finer hair with no problems. I find it makes a difference in one treatment. Personally I have medium texture, wavy hair that takes a beating with heat styling tools. If I am going to wear my hair naturally wavy ( air dry or scrunch dry) I use this everytime I wash my hair and leave it in even though it is not meant for a leave in. For me this was a HG find for that purpose alone. It makes my hair actually hold a natural curl better with a little texture and body to it and better curl definition, rather than frizzy and poufy with little curl. I use gel on top of this, and it's perfect. It does not leave a greasy feel, and does not make it too heavy for the next day if I want to straighten my hair (after washing it again). I also leave this in overnight in a ponytail sometimes as a treatment. If I am wanting to wear my hair straight I do not leave it in but rather use it in the shower or use the leave-in spray version of this. I have several people hooked on doing the same thing as I do and one of them in particular has quite fine, but quite curly hair. Hers is not exceptionally frizzy per se, but this defines the curl in a fantastic way. I would say try this for sure.

Treatments -It's a 10 - Miracle Leave in Product
FrugalMakeupAddict 9/23/2009 9:23:00 PM
This is a FANTASTIC de-tangler for hair of all types. Simply adjust the amount of product according to your hair type. I found with continued use it helped the condition of my hair by preventing against heat damage due to flat irons etc. I find it adds shine and volume. I could see how it could be too heavy on fine hair if you put too much in because you can definitely feel it in there, but I have used it on someone with fine hair without a problem. The scent is nice, and it does the job I would expect.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Bio Creative Labs-Pedisation Pedicure Creme
FrugalMakeupAddict 7/27/2009 12:57:00 AM
This is my HG foot cream. There are several different choices in this line, and I LOVE the 'Deep penetrating repair for damaged skin'. It's in the lavander coloured tube. This cream is extremely thick and smooth, and yet eventually soaks into your skin. It doesn't leave a super greasy residue, but leaves enough on there that you don't want to get up and walk across a bare floor right away! I put this on before bed, sometimes with socks. But even with out socks it does not all wipe off on my sheets. It has a pleasant scent, just slightly pepperminty, and it is AMAZING for my dry feet. If I use this regularly, my feet are in awesome shape. Even my pedicurist notices. It contains Arnica, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Lavander, Tea Tree Oil. This is serious stuff. It will smooth out the roughest patches and make my pedicures last a looong time! It's a great price, and the packaging is easy to use. It's a tube. I always give this as gifts. It's truly amazing, and believe me I have tried a lot of foot creams. I gave some to my sister in law who has the worst feet ever. They peel like crazy and she said this is great for preventing and repairing that, and she is hooked.

Mascara -Smashbox - Lash DNA
FrugalMakeupAddict 7/4/2009 1:50:00 AM
On the hunt for my HG mascara, I tried this, and I don't especially like it. Perhaps the weird wand just takes some getting used to, so I will edit this if I find it better after more uses, but I find it hard to use, and for me the double helix shaped brush makes it harder to reach every lash. Could just be me. But the formula itself didn't impress me either. I did not find it lengthened my lases, although it was a nice dark colour. It was a little tiny bit clumpy but nothing really bad. It didn't fan out my lashes either. For the price, it was a waste for me. I put this on one eye, and NYX doll eye lengthening on the other and asked my family which was better and they all agreed the NYX was better. There was no comparison to me. I will be swapping this.

Cleansers -Equate - 3-1 Facial Cleansing Towelettes
FrugalMakeupAddict 7/3/2009 11:41:00 PM
I love these. I don't use them as my main makeup remover, but I do use them when I am in a hurry, or don't have any makeup on. I encourage my teenage daughters to use them too, as they are too lazy to wash their face before bed, but they will use these. I always have some on hand. I use them for wiping off my face when I want to re-do my face makeup but not my eyes, or for extreme fallout, or they are good for getting off halloween makeup. I have not used them on my eyes.

Mascara -NYX - NYX Doll Eye Mascara- Long Lash
FrugalMakeupAddict 7/3/2009 1:17:00 AM
I have been on the hunt for the perfect mascara and this is pretty darn close for me. I have fairly short, very straight lashes, and not a lot of natural volume. I ask a lot of my mascara. First time I tried this I loved it. The lengthening qualities are good. The formula has little fibers in it that sort of grab on to the end of your lashes. Its holds a curl for me like NO other mascara except sky high curves has. I personally love the brush. It is skinnier in the middle and thicker at both ends making it a breeze to reach the tiny lashes. I find it grabs all my lashes and pulls then out and up and VERY separated. I don't really need to use a lash comb. It might flake a teeny weeny bit if you happen to brush your lashes with a finger or something, but that is better than smudging IMO. It brushes right off. I love this so far, and plan on buying more.

Brows -BeneFit Cosmetics - NEW BrowZings
FrugalMakeupAddict 7/3/2009 1:07:00 AM
This is the perfect brow kit for me. I have fairly tame brows, so I don't use this for keeping them civil, just for filling in the sparse areas, and the areas that get too light in the summer. I have medium brown brows, and the medium colour is good for me. I like the packaging, and I find the product easy to apply. I wasn't liking pencils.. too harsh for me, and powder was too.. well... powdery looking. This has tinted wax and a brown setting powder. The wax is not *that* tinted, but enough that it works alone for no makeup days.

Eye Shadow -Annabelle - Eye Dust-Prism
FrugalMakeupAddict 7/1/2009 1:59:00 AM
I love this product. It has so many uses. I use it as a highlighter, in the tear duct area, and over other shadows. It is so multi coloured it goes with so many things. Its basically white with a pinky purple duo-chrome. Very iridescent. The packaging is a pain if you use the flip top lid because most brushes wont fit inside, but the cap does screw off! Like most pigments/minerals you must use a primer, but it has good intensity, and staying power when used with a primer. I also have this in chiffon and the dark blue... Storm I think it is?
