Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
rated 4 of 5

This review is only for the colors, as I had a hard time finding good shades for my pigmented lips and NC44 skin. With all shades, the product isn't pigmented enough to cover uneven liptone. My favorites: Cherry Tart-Medium/dark pink with shimmer. Shimmer isn't really visible on the lips. A nice everyday color. Tutti Fruti-A beautiful pinky orange coral that is perfect for summer. Colors that didn't work: Pink Truffle - A pinkish brown shade that is too natural looking and washed me out, especially because I don't wear much eye or cheek makeup. Sweet Tart - On my pigmented lips, this applied as a cool-toned hot pink that was almost lavender. Not flattering.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise

A nice, heavy conditioning treatment that worked well on my thick, coarse Asian hair, which is slightly dry due to highlighting. I left this on for a couple of hours and rinsed it out without shampooing as the instructions indicate. My hair is slightly weighed down, but I'm willing to accept that for the great moisture I've gotten. I think this is only a once a week or less treatment as it might be too heavy for more frequent use.

Bronzers -NARS - Orgasm-Laguna Blush-Bronzer Duo
rated 3 of 5
FloweryCheese 1/21/2013 1:33:00 AM

I'm a woman of color with NC44 skin, yellow-toned. Laguna does not show up on me at all! Orgasm is nice, but not a huge step up from the Jane blushes I normally use. Overall, meh.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Bare it All 902C
rated 2 of 5
FloweryCheese 12/4/2012 10:20:00 AM

I bought this to create a nude lip (I'm NC44 with pigmented lips). Unfortunately, this made me look like a corpse. It's a straight beige without peachy or pink tones. I might try to work with it by using it under a gloss or blended with a darker lip color (I have small lips, so I stay away from super dark shades). The formula is slightly dry too. No big loss since this cost me only $2, but thought I'd throw this review out for my fellow dark skinned gals.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
rated 3 of 5
FloweryCheese 11/21/2012 8:56:00 AM

This worked wonders on my dry, cracked hands, which bleed every winter (gross, I know). Unlike other hand creams, this solved the problem in a few applications. Unfortunately, the smell is awful!! I'm sure there are other hand creams out there that work just as well without the stench of this cream, so I wouldn't repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Bath And Body Works Triple Moisture Body Creams
rated 4 of 5
FloweryCheese 11/18/2012 8:41:00 AM

I got this as a gift in the cherry blossom scent. I stopped using BBW awhile ago as I have switched to products with more natural ingredients, but this one blew me away. The cream is really moisturizing, but more importantly, the scent lasts all day. This performs like a higher end product in terms of the power of the scent. I will definitely be buying more of these. Took off one lippie for the use of lots of unnatural ingredients despite marketing itself as a natural brand.y

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Dragon's Egg Bath Ballistic
rated 1 of 5
FloweryCheese 11/17/2012 8:53:00 PM

I bought this on the Lush staff's advice (my first Lush purchase, along with a soap/bubble bath product called "Fun") for my young son. He loves bubble baths, so I thought this could be a special treat. The Lush staff told me that this had pop rocks in it and would put on a show for my son. Well, it was a fail on all fronts. This bath bomb had no pop rocks and didn't make many bubbles. Plus, it got all crumbly and fell apart before I used it, and the paper bag packaging was sort of messy. Most of all, I thought it was overpriced at about $6 for something that could be used in only one bath.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Volume
rated 1 of 5
FloweryCheese 11/17/2012 8:38:00 PM

This mascara is overrated. It had a funny smell, irritated my sensitive eyes, and didn't add much volume (though it did add length).

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter Duo in Macadamia
rated 2 of 5
FloweryCheese 11/15/2012 7:28:00 AM

This is a decent moisturizer, but my review is for the scent. I expected a warm, comforting fragrance, but there is a harsh, sharp cinnamon note that ruins the whole thing. I didn't smell the cocoa butter and vanilla that the other reviews mentioned.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - Infiniti Spin Air Brush
rated 4 of 5
FloweryCheese 11/11/2012 12:42:00 AM

I've been a longtime devotee of hot air brushes and even though I already have a regular one, I am glad I bought this one. The spinning action helps smooth the hair and curl the hair in or out very quickly. Using this is much easier than wrangling a round brush and a blow dryer with thick hair. I use this by dividing my damp hair into sections, then curling my layers in or out as I prefer. It is so much quicker than using a round brush because it only takes one or two pass throughs to get my hair smooth and flicked out the way I want it. I used this tonight and received so many compliments--friends asked if I had had a professional blowout! This would be perfect for smoothing and defining layered hair that is longer than chin length (the barrel is too big for anything shorter than that). Another nice thing about this brush is that it comes with a cover, which is useful for travel and storage. All of my other air brushes have not had covers, so they either snag clothes or get their bristles bent during travel. On the negative side, this brush is pretty useless on very wet or completely dry hair. Also, you can't use this brush to create curls along the length of your hair, so it won't replace all of your other hot hair tools. The downside is that the barrel is large, about 2", so it gives you a really big curl, which can be limiting for shorter hair (a flip out could look weirdly disproportionate). Don't expect this to replace your blow dryer-- this is only for styling once your hair is damp or dry.

Styling Products -Oscar Blandi - Lacca Hairspray
rated 3 of 5
FloweryCheese 11/4/2012 9:08:00 PM

This is a flowery smelling hairspray that is a bit sticky. It made my hair feel stiff, but wasn't the strongest hold (most recently I used this to tease my hair and flip it out. The flip out part lasted, but the teasing fell out. On the plus side, didn't notice any white flakes like some hairsprays cause on the second day. Besides the smell, this is an average hairspray. Don't pay full price--I got this at TJMaxx for $8.

Styling Products -Sedu - Beach Beauty Sea Salt Spray
rated 2 of 5
FloweryCheese 10/22/2012 10:33:00 PM

Edit: revising this to two stars. I've used this several times since my first review and noticed that it doesn't do much for curl, and leaves my hair frizzy and dry-looking. I like this product for creating beachy waves, but the coconut candy smell is annoying. I only said that I wouldn't buy this again, though, because I'd want to try other salt sprays--I do like this one but I'm curious about the others. I use this by spraying it on damp hair then putting a curl enhancing mousse in my hair and drying with a diffuser while scrunching. It works even better when I spray in the salt spray, sleep on the damp hair overnight, then do the mousse and diffuser steps the following morning. If Sedu would tone down the scent, this would be a great product. If ordering from Folica, get on the mailing last for discounts and codes. I bought this for the sale price of $13.

Treatments -Shea Moisture - Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque
rated 4 of 5
FloweryCheese 9/10/2012 9:00:00 AM

Love, love, love! Made my dryish, color-treated thick Asian hair feel like silk. I also adore the smell, and it was convenient to apply. I stumbled on this little gem when I was looking for an argan oil treatment. Most products had argan oil as the third ingredient after two types of silicones. This listed argan oil as the third ingredient after water and shea butter. It was filled with all kinds of goodness like plant extracts and avocado oil, with few fillets. And all for $10! Cheaper than many of the other products that are advertised as argan oil treatments. The product is a thick creme texture, so I was able to apply it to the roots and entire length of my hair and sit with it uncovered for half an hour while I puttered around. No drips! I washed it out easily in the shower and the next day my hair was still silky smooth. Based on other reviews, it looks like this works for some and not for others, but at $10 a pop it is worth a try. Also know that my hair wasn't massively damaged when I used this, just a little dry. EDIT: this is only magical when I use it with my All Soft conditioner. Once when I didn't follow up with conditioner, it didn't have the same sickening effect. I'm taking this down to 4 stars.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Fig Lip Shimmer
rated 4 of 5
FloweryCheese 9/9/2012 3:50:00 PM

Since others have commented on the formula, I'll just talk about the shade. This is a nice red-brown that's a good everyday shade for us darker-skinned ladies (I'm NC44). I like having this in my purse to swipe on whenever.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmers - Rhubarb
rated 4 of 5
FloweryCheese 9/9/2012 3:48:00 PM

A nice, moisturing pink balm that wears like a sheer lipstick. I like this for a spring or summer look on my NC44 skin, but it's not pigmented enough to completely cover my unevenly pigmented dark lips. It's nice to swipe on over other lipsticks or lipliners though. I also love the tingly sensation and minty smell and the natural ingredients.
