Cleansers -Paula's Choice - RESIST- Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser

I absolutely LOVE this product. A few months ago my skin decided to change its mind about being super oily, and decided to be sensitive and truly combo (hello oil-soaked nose, peeling cheeks, and red bumps galore). I embarked on a whirlwind search for anything that wouldn't further aggravate and strip my skin of moisture without contributing to my growing collection of blemishes. This led to natural home remedies (yogurt, honey, etc) HE (Clinique, Caudalie, etc) & DS (list just about everything here), all to no avail. Then one day I decided to try this product as a last resort (not really a fan of ordering online if I can help it) and I was floored. It took my makeup off without taking the rest of my face with it, and my skin felt clean and.....balanced! Of course I still get the random breakout here and there if it's that time of month or if I forgo face-washing due to fatigue (bad, I know), but my skin feels comfortable again. Not a fan of the small bottle, price tag, or ordering online but I will always repurchase for as long as it's available :)

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap - Mild
rated 1 of 5
Fatang 10/24/2011 11:09:00 PM

This is one of the many instances where I'm relieved for having tried this as a sample and not as a purchase. I don't know how this cleanser got labeled as "mild!" It successfully stripped my skin of healthy natural oils causing many dry/peeling patches on my combo skin, and later, also created some unsightly red blemishes that throbbed & itched. My skin felt so dry and tight that I couldn't imagine giving this more than a week's trial. To be honest, I don't think I would have tried this more than once if it wasn't for the Clinique name. This product is the perfect example of why expensive doesn't always mean better!

Moisturizers -Jamieson - Vitamin A Night Renewal Treatment

I was looking for an effective treatment for the dry patches on my face and this didn't fit the bill. At first it applied wonderfully, but it sank into something oilier and ended up causing me to break out. The search continues.

I actually have this with Sandalwood, but I love it nonetheless. Dries up blemishes within a couple of days without over-drying surrounding skin, and I've really grown to love the scent. However I only use it on the more normal/dry areas on my face as it has caused breakouts on my oily t-zone. Now a caution: The "paste" is very obviously yellow, so I can't see it working well under foundation/daylight/in public. For oily skinned ladies, it might be too moisturizing to use all over the face, and may actually cause more blemishes. And last but not least, the scent. I personally really enjoy it, but it may be strong for some people to get over. This product is so reasonably-priced that I plan to repurchase for as long as I can find it.

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Creme d'Nude
rated 1 of 5
Fatang 6/19/2011 3:10:00 AM

Oh my gosh this is terrible! I'm so glad that I got this as part of the trade-in program they have. My biggest issue with this l/s is the fact that it not only accentuates any dryness you didn't even know you had, but then further dries out your lips. And I'm the kind of gal who takes care of her lips, exfolation, lipbalm, and all. You shouldn't have to work so hard to make a l/s look half-decent, especially one from MAC. I've purchased many a DS lipstick that have performed better than this!

Really great for moisturizing very parched lips, but a caution to sensitive-skinned/allergy-prone gals: test it out in small amounts before you commit to slathering your lips. While most of the people I know who have tried this product absolutely loved it, some experienced itchyness, blotchiness, or redness. Just because it's natural doesn't mean that you're safe from having a reaction.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Honey
rated 1 of 5
Fatang 6/12/2011 3:23:00 PM

Please make sure you try this on a section of your face to see if your skin reacts, before slathering it all over! I made the mistake of doing just that as soon I got home with my organic raw honey and it took weeks for my skin to recover. I also admit that it took me a week to even suspect that honey was responsible for the strange changes my skin was experiencing because I had false faith in the idea of a natural product always being kind to the skin vs. store-bought. But after discontinuing use for 2-3 days, the little groups of bumps on my face and under my chin disappeared. I really wish this had worked for me, because I do love the idea of natural products trumping store-bought.....but back to the skincare aisle I had to go after this experience!

Treatments -Moroccanoil - Intense Hydrating Mask
rated 3 of 5

I bought this after high praise from my local salon, and I wish I didn't fall for the hype. It smells really fantastic, but I was expecting more than that from the exorbitant price tag. It moisturized minimally, and caused me to have an itchy, flaky scalp. Ladies with a history of dandruff or other sensitive scalp conditions, beware! This might cause a mess as it did for me. Back to the salon it went!

Mascara -Prestige - My Biggest Lashes
rated 3 of 5
Fatang 5/29/2011 11:22:00 AM

I'm so sad that this didn't work for me, especially since I bought it due to the amazing reviews it got on here. This mascara was basically imperceptible on my short and fine lashes, unless it started sliding down beneath my eye. I love that it didn't flake or cause hard-as-cement lashes, but that's all I can really say for it. Very disappointed.

I had to try this out after all the great reviews on here, but it didn't work out as well for me. I used unflavoured greek yogurt with nothing added, left on for 20 mins, and washed thoroughly. My face was stinging and the next day I had 3 new pimples. Still, how could I now try this out? Dirt cheap, and you won't know until you try it.

This is such a piece of junk. Wore down in no time, and managed to do a number on my nails rather than improving them. Threw it out after only 2-3 months of use!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
Fatang 5/15/2011 4:16:00 PM

I really love this liner, and the brush it comes with isn't terrible either.I tried MAC's version first and it was an absolute bust - flaking, smearing, fading all over my oily lids. No such nonsense with this product! As I've said, my eyelids are very oily, but my eyes also water all the time, mostly because my motorcycle is my main mode of transportation, rain or shine. This gel liner never budges! Highly recommend - don't waste your money on MAC!

Sunscreen -Clinique - City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector Broad Spectrum 25 SPF
rated 3 of 5
Fatang 5/8/2011 3:35:00 PM

I tried this out as a sample, and I'm glad I did. I really liked that this was a tinted product with sunscreen, to cut down on the amount of stuff to layer on my face. However, if you have any dry patches I'd recommend moisturizing before application. This went on like a dream over every part of my face except for my very oily nose.Half an hour post-application, the pigment had moved around and I was shiny as can be, regardless of blotting. I tried it 3 days consecutively and on the 3rd, my nose finally freaked out and about 6 small pimples blossomed on it. This product is probably best suited for people who don't have an issue with oil or breakouts.

Treatments -OPI - Nail Envy Original
rated 2 of 5
Fatang 5/8/2011 3:17:00 PM

I dearly wanted to love this product, but it really didn't deliver after months and months of religious use. My brittle nails broke off even easier, peeled, and turned quite yellow near the end. The only thing I really like about this product was the brush. I wish I didn't waste my money. It's not the worst thing I've ever used, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype.

Concealers -Maybelline - Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer
rated 5 of 5
Fatang 5/8/2011 3:14:00 PM

This is my HG concealer! I've been everywhere from MAC to Revlon to CD, and this is the only concealer that will cover up my dark circles. I took a lippie off because it will crease when left on its own (very oily around the eyes), but some setting powder does the trick. I don't know what I'd do if this was discontinued!!
