Polishes -NYX - Paradise
FaintlyMacabre 6/3/2006 1:13:00 PM
This is a fairly complex shade. The base colour is teal, but the golden shimmer makes it look more green when you look at it straight on. The teal tones come out very nicely at an angle.
This seemed to apply pretty sheerly, requiring a minimum of 3 coats for complete opacity. I imagine that this characteristic would make it ideal for layering on top of other shades.
NYX's brushes are flattened, much like the OPI DS polishes, which makes application quicker and easier.

This is a BEAUTIFUL vampy dark brownish-red. The shimmer looks coppery here, as opposed to golden in Russian to a Party, although the base colours are very similar. The shimmer gives it a lot of depth. I have a lot of vampy red shades, and this is definitely one of my favorites.

Polishes -Nicole - Fashion Diva

Fashion Diva is a gorgeous, dark blue-based purple creme. It does need about 3 coats to become fully opaque, but the application is smooth and the finish is nice and glossy, even without a topcoat!
This is one SEXY colour. To quote MUA member Mickster: "Makes me think of HOT skintight patent leather! Totally S&M georgousness!"

A great glossy OPI finish on this dark burgundy creme. However, I don't find it all that unique. I also find that I need 3 coats to get the full-on rich color, as with fewer coats it tends to look quite red and slightly uneven in the sunlight. I find that this is brighter than Chanel Vamp and Revlon Vixen.
A good quality polish, but nothing new if you already own a few vampy reds.

Lips -MAC - Tinted Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15 - Juicy Pink
FaintlyMacabre 2/15/2005 3:03:00 PM
Is it just my imagination, or does this smell a lot more lipsticky than the deliciously vanilla-scented pots?
Juicy Pink is a little brighter than Petting Pink (which I love), but other than that, there's not much difference between the two. Still a lovely, natural-looking pink that's great for application on the go.
FYI: The amount in the tubes (0.16 oz) is much less than the amount in the pots (0.5 oz).

Liquid -Revlon - Age Defying Light Makeup with Botafirm SPF30 [DISCONTINUED]
FaintlyMacabre 2/15/2005 10:37:00 AM
Skin Type: Oily, acne-prone, wrinkle-free
Skin colour: Between MAC NC20 and NC25
Shade used: Light Fair
Upon application, this definitely looks dewy. As I have oily skin, powdering on top is a must! However, this looks incredibly natural and fresh. I had previously been a bit disillusioned with tinted moisturizers, as they would just appear as a layer of shine on my face with zero coverage. However, this provides a perfect amount of sheer-but-not-too-sheer coverage that evens out my skin tone and blurs the appearance of blemishes. I still need to use concealer, though.
Colour-wise, the Light shade is a bit too dark/orangey for me. Surprisingly, the Fair shade (the lightest one available) was a perfect match. Pale girls are definitely going to have some trouble getting a good match.
Thumbs up for the SPF30!

The "Light" shade was a decent match for my skin, although perhaps a shade too light. However, the consistency of this concealer is wonderful -- creamy and moisturizing, while not slipping off my oily face by the end of the day. The lightness of this shade works very well for concealing dark undereye circles without being light enough to give the dreaded reverse raccoon look. Also great for spot-concealing acne scars!
I use this over top of the SPF 20 foundation for normal/combo skin in bare buff (which is actually also a shade too light, but my Shoppers Drug Mart doesn't carry all of the shades Revlon puts out).

Lip Gloss -MAC - Sunny Boy
FaintlyMacabre 1/28/2005 12:35:00 PM
A beautiful copper-pink gloss from the Diana Ross "Icon" collection. Actually, it seems like it's a whole bunch of pink-copper extra-fine glitter bits suspended in clear gloss. On the lips, this doesn't look overly glittery at all! It gives a nice rosy glow to the lips that just light my face up. This is a must for warm-toned girls, and would probably work with cooler skin tones as well!
One beef I have with it though, is that it's so hard to get all the glitter off the lips when you want to take the gloss off.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear for lips in Air Kiss
FaintlyMacabre 1/24/2005 4:49:00 PM
This was generally quite unimpressive. The colour, while pretty in the tube, does not show up at all -- it's just a clear gloss! It also smells like rubber, which isn't the most pleasant scent. I'm taking this back. I could have gotten a delicious-smelling clear gloss from Bonne Bell for a fraction of the price.

"Nude beige" is a perfect match for my skin. While this does go on matte, it still somehow ends up looking quite natural, as long as you don't layer too much. This gives light to medium coverage, and the powdery finish seems to help keep shine at bay for longer than the average foundation would. I haven't noticed an increase in breakouts as of yet. Good sign!

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose
FaintlyMacabre 10/11/2004 4:00:00 PM
I certainly put this to the test last night in the sweaty mosh pit of a KMFDM concert. It amazed me -- no transfering or smudging at all! It builds my wimpy, straight Asian lashes enough to look longer, fluttery, and defined, without clumping or looking goopy. This was my first foray into Lancome mascaras, and I do believe I'll be back for more!

This is an awesome colour! It's a sapphire blue that shimmers a lighter blue, teal, and green at different angles. Beautiful and unique! I think those that like Black Tie Optional and other funky dark colours would love this shade.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Wet Shine Diamonds - Fuschia Lights
FaintlyMacabre 9/28/2004 12:12:00 AM
I am in love with this colour. As others have mentioned, it's a sheer lipstick form of the Fusion Glam Shine gloss, and also the Biotherm #160 Glossy Gloss (which I also own and love).
This is a sheer fuschia pink with blue-green shimmer that makes it interesting. There are small glitter particles in it as well as the shimmer, however, I don't find it gritty at all. I think I'll buy a backup...

Blush -Almay - Nearly Naked Touch Pad Liquid Blush - Berry Nude
FaintlyMacabre 8/23/2004 10:57:00 AM
This is a wonderful product! Berry Nude shows up as a beautiful natural-looking flush on my NC25 skin. The shimmer makes me look glowy, and not outright greasy. One touch on each cheek, and I'm ready to go. I like the small packaging, and it doesn't seem to be at risk of leaking even when I rest it on it's side.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Anti Blemish Cream
FaintlyMacabre 8/10/2004 2:55:00 PM
This is good stuff! It says that results should be noticeable after 2 weeks of use, and they were! While I don't have fine lines yet (I'm 21), the salicylic acid + retinol combination was highly effective in preventing new blemishes from forming on my combo-oily acne-prone skin.
While this is a great product and I would buy it anyway, it is on the pricey side since the tube is so small (30 ml).
