Cleansers -Bioderma - Sensibio H2O (aka Crealine H20 Solution micellaire)
FaceofMaleah 6/17/2013 5:46:00 PM
I really do not understand all of the fuss about this product. I bought this because everyone was raving about how well it removes makeup and that its so gentle and this not only didn't remove hardly any makeup but it stung the crap out of my eyes. I prefer the Sebium H2O formula if you're going to get one cause the Sensibio one sucks. Also for those looking to buy this, someone for some reason uploaded a photo onto this page for the Sebium H2O when this is clearly the Sensibio H2O formula review page so don't be mislead.

Deodorants -Nivea - Pure and Natural Action
FaceofMaleah 6/17/2013 12:25:00 PM
Usually I wouldn't do a review of a deodorant but the roll on deodorant from this line is incredible! I am a teenager and I sweat a whole lot. I have tried so many deodorants that are just full of aluminum and they just never work so when I saw this one I figured what the heck, I'd give it a go. This roll on is amazing. I put it on in the morning right when I wake up so it has time to sink in before I get dressed and it does take a while to sink in but when it finally does, I can't feel it. The scent is incredible, you smell so, so fresh and I can smell it throughout the day which I really enjoy. Since it is labelled a 'deodorant' and not an antiperspirant, I was still expecting to sweat a whole lot but I barely sweat anymore with this on so it must have an ingredient in it which shrinks the pores instead of clogging them like aluminum does. This doesn't irritate my sensitive armpits at all (the stick version of this make my underarms red, itchy, blotchy and it didn't work at all!) and it lasts the entire day. For people having a tough time finding a deodorant which really combats bad odour and sweat, I think this is incredible.

Masks -Formula 10.0.6 - Deep Down Detox
FaceofMaleah 6/17/2013 12:28:00 AM
I do not like this mask at all. I do have acne prone skin so I thought the deep down detox would be a great product but it stung my skin so badly and every time I use it it breaks me out in horrible cystic acne. The only positive thing is the attractive tube it comes in. If your skin is sensitive, this is not for you.

Gels/Soaps -St. Ives - Oatmeal and Shea Butter Body Wash
FaceofMaleah 6/14/2013 2:00:00 PM
I'm kind of disappointed by this product because it is supposed to be for sensitive skin (which I actually don't have) and it always leaves me so itchy afterwards. It smells lovely, comes in a huge bottle, is super cheap and leaves my skin feeling moisturized but I can't stand feeling like I have a rash on my whole body with this one.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
FaceofMaleah 6/13/2013 4:29:00 PM
I used Revlon Colorstay foundation for the first time about 3 years ago and I loved it. I bought and used 3 bottles before deciding to try something new just because I like to jump around a lot. I didn't touch it again until about a month ago and I still really love this product. I have dry skin but I decided to get the combo/ oily formula because the weather is getting hotter here in Canada and hotter weather = major makeup melt so I wanted to get the formula that could really hold up well. I bought it at Shoppers Drug Mart for $19.99 and I got the 16hr formula since the 24hr one sucks and they still had the 16hr left. The shade I got was 150 Buff which is a little too dark for me but the lightest shade 110 Ivory has pink undertones whereas I have warm undertones and as Buff has warm undertones- I just blend it into my neck very well. The shades don't run particularly light though I do think that they're doing better than most drugstore brands but in the winter I would definitely need to mix in my Illamasqua Skin Base foundation in white to make it work. What I first opened the bottle I was shocked at how much the foundation stunk of paint, I didn't remember that at all. Luckily if you're kind of bothered by scents like I am, the smell goes away once applied. The first week or so that I used the foundation I used a bunch of different methods to apply it and see what works best for me- I tried a beauty blender, kabuki, flat foundation brush, fingers, with setting powder, without setting powder and I think how I like it best on my dry skin is applying it with my finger or a kabuki brush and not setting it with powder, I find that using powder gives me a bit of cakeface which I do not appreciate. The foundation does not give a really matte finish unless you set it with powder, I think it has more of a satiny finish and I don't feel like this dries as quickly as people are saying but once it dries it is definitely not going anywhere. For me, I can go about 5 hours of wearing it until I feel like I need an oil blotting sheet which in my opinion is quite good, I feel like a lot of people expect to not have to use an oil blotting sheet at all throughout the day and their foundation should still look perfect which to me isn't realistic. For those of you who have blemishes, the first few days I wore this I developed a few small whiteheads but after wearing it for a few weeks now, it causes no breakout on my skin whatsoever but if you have bad acne I always suggest wearing a sheer layer of foundation so your skin can breathe and heal the blemishes. As you probably guessed, I really do like this foundation. I do have a couple of negatives though and those are the smell, the price and the packaging. The smell is horrid, at $19.99 a bottle this is incredibly pricey for drugstore foundation and on top of all of that they don't even add a pump! I definitely would purchase this foundation again if I could find the 16hr formula but I am so disappointed in the 24hr formula- it doesn't wear as long, they still didn't add a pump and raised the price by $2! As long as they continue to have the 16hr I will buy it but I will not touch the 24hr.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup 24 hrs
FaceofMaleah 6/11/2013 10:30:00 PM
I ENCOURAGE LOYAL USERS OF THE 16HR FORMULATION TO CONTACT REVLON AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THE 24HR FORMULATION I am really disappointed in Revlon for trying to outdo their old formula which so many people were content with because MANNNNN does this stuff ever suck! I picked up Colorstay for the very first time a few years ago and loved it and when I picked it up a few months ago I couldn't figure out why one of my HG foundations suddenly sucked. I did some research and it turns out that the one I picked up is this new 24hr formula. I have so many problems with this products its not even funny. First off I got this in the Normal/Dry skin formulation and it was so runny.....I applied it on my face with my beauty blender as I do with all other foundations and was shocked when the coverage I got from it was light- medium. I put on another layer and at best it was medium coverage but it looked cakey. So I went to a hockey game (3hrs long) came home, looked in the mirror and the foundation had gone so patchy it looked absolutely dreadful- and I applied a finishing powder! It smelled like all chemically as well and the worst part- they 'upgraded' an already perfect formula but forgot to add a pump?! You have got to be kidding me. As well, the old formulation was already expensive in Canada at $19 and they bumped it up to $21 for a sucky product. I really hope that Revlon wakes up and realizes that the new product that they've released sucks or they are going to lose a ton of unhappy customers like myself to Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous!

Liquid -Clinique - Even Better Makeup SPF 15
FaceofMaleah 6/10/2013 11:11:00 PM
I'm really kind of sad that I had to re-write this review because it was my HG foundation. Last summer I bought it in the lightest shade Alabaster which matched my skin tone then when I was tanned. I really loved it- it was a little thick, applied effortlessly, looked airbrushed but didn't feel to heavy on the skin. As well it would last the whole day without powdering. I was absolutely in love. Of course since this wouldn't match me for the winter, I put it away in storage for around 7 months. I took it out to using again and while the formula is the same which is good, it has oxidized a whole lot. When you squeeze it out of the tube, it looks orange and not like anyone's skin colour at all. Really disappointed since I had thought I had found an HG summer foundation and I could stop my search. If you're going to use this in one go I would still say its a good product for combination to dry skin but if you're going to be storing it for a long period of time, this is no good.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Tapestry Taupe
FaceofMaleah 6/10/2013 4:19:00 PM
I'm really not a fan of Covergirl eyeshadows and I feel this one is no exception. I used to like them before I tried out shadows by other brands and now I realize that these ones are just no good. The shadows are not pigmented and show up on your eyes nothing like they are in the pan no matter how many times you layer them. You can even see the poor pigmentation in the swatches on this product. I prefer high end shadows for the most part but if you're looking for cheaper shadows than try Maybelline or Wet n Wild because they are MUCH better than Covergirl.

BB Cream -L'Oreal - Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream
FaceofMaleah 6/6/2013 12:12:00 AM
I am legitimately shocked at the poor reviews that this BB cream has since I have tried so many and this is the only one that has made me realize why the BB cream craze exists. I bought this BB cream because the lovely Kandee Johnson had used this in a lot of her videos and while I wasn't entirely sold on it as a product I decided I would buy it and could return it if I didn't like it. The BB cream was $19 at my Shoppers Drug Mart which is bloody expensive for drugstore but its by L'Oreal, what do you expect? I got it in the shade Fair. When you squeeze the BB cream out of the tube it is this grayish- white colour with little grains in it which are supposed to be the grains that burst and magically transform the BB cream to your correct colour. I honestly think that the claim that the beads burst and transform into your skin tone is BS. I think that they burst, already having a colour inside of them and don't actually transform at all cause I can tell you that this was not a spot on match to my skin which in my case wasn't a bad thing. It wasn't a bad thing because I have a very fair face but my body is a little darker and it did not match to be the colour of my face, the BB cream was too dark and was pretty close to the colour of my body so it did end up matching my body as a whole perfectly, but it definitely did not colour match as it was supposed to (hope that makes sense!). The shade that I got I noticed had more of a warm undertone to it. The product is a little difficult to squeeze out cause the opening is so small which I do not mind because at least you don't end up with a huge mess of product and how I apply it is I just dot it on my face and blend it in my skin with my fingers. The coverage is light of course, as it is with every BB cream but it looks freaking AMAZING. It blurs my acne in the most bizarre but flattering way and my pores look tight and my face looks airbrushed. I have a hard time finding foundation which makes my skin look so incredible! This does dry to a satin finish and it is a little hard to blend because it dries quickly so I definitely recommend using your fingers to apply it so you can keep the product warm for as long a time as possible. I was just shocked at the gorgeous finish this gave, I have only seen a finish similar by one other product and I've tried probably 40+ foundations in my life from one other product and it was the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation. I still prefer the finish this gives. I really like how when this foundation has set it feels dry on your skin, when you touch your face there is no transfer whatsoever and it doesn't feel sticky like so many other BB creams do. I find that this BB cream lasts on my face for a whole day which I definitely appreciate. This BB cream comes in 5 shade I believe which is a limited selection but since it supposedly adapts to skin tone that shouldn't be a problem. I think this product is absolutely incredibly but definitely do not expect the coverage with this BB cream or any other that you would get for a foundation, if you go in to it with that mindset you will be disappointed. I use this on days where I wake up late and need to run out the door or I just want a really natural yet flawless look. I would recommend it to anyone!

Polishes -Revlon - Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel
FaceofMaleah 6/3/2013 2:36:00 PM
Revlon nail polishes are hands down my absolute favourite nail polishes on the market. They're inexpensive, long wearing and the shade selection is insane. I have 3 of the polishes from the Colorstay line and I do love them all. I have the shade Trade Winds, Fall Mood (favourite polish of all time), and Wild Strawberry. I like how the formulas of all the nail polishes are easy to apply and they are the happy medium consistency between runny and thick which makes application an absolute dream. I also love the brush which is flat with a rounded tip so it only takes about 2 strokes to coat your entire nail. The polishes are also very pigmented, particularly Fall Mood and Wild Strawberry which on one coat are completely opaque. I don't find these nail polishes to be much more more long lasting than the other lines of nail polish from Revlon, you'll maybe get another day max and of course that depends on how much you use your fingers and the like. The one thing that I dislike about this line of polishes is that I find that they take a bit longer to dry than other ones particularly as you get to a second or third coat (which I rarely find necessary), it will take like 10+ minutes to dry completely which is quite irritating. Overally, I really do like the polishes as I do with all Revlon polishes, great value for money :)

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti
FaceofMaleah 6/3/2013 1:28:00 PM
While I think that the colour of this lipbutter is gorgeous, it did not work on my lips. I am a fan of the Revlon Lip butters because they are very moisturizing, last a fair amount of time and aren't too strong for those days when you're not feeling that adventurous. The colour is a really stunning neon orange but from the swatches I had seen on the internet it just looked like a light wash of that colour, but not on my lips. My lips are a very bright pink colour naturally and when I applied this colour over it, my lips were like the bright orange it looks like in the tube which was way stronger than I was anticipating. I also have strong cool undertones in my skin which seemed to clash with this particular shade. I do think this lip butter is pretty and really looks amazing on some people but just not on me.

Foundations -Rimmel - Wake Me Up
FaceofMaleah 6/3/2013 1:01:00 AM
I am absolutely in love with the new Wake Me Up foundation from Rimmel. It is none to often that I am incredibly impressed by drugstore foundations since as a dry skinned gal, most foundations at the drugstore are geared towards people with oily skin and therefore too drying for me but I'm glad this one isn't! This foundation comes in a sleek glass bottle with a bright orange cap and pump (yay!) that you will feel proud to have on your dresser. I am a big believer in packaging as it really can influence the products people purchase in any circumstances and though bright orange doesn't really appeal to me personally, I think they did well with this one. The shade I wear is 100 Ivory which is most certainly not Ivory and too dark for my skin when I don't have a tan which can be problematic since I do not like to tan or fake tan so this will definitely be more of a spring/ summer foundation for me. The first time I pumped this foundation on to the back of my hand I was almost certain I was going to like it purely because of the texture which is very creamy and gel-like, similar to the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation which is another favourite of mine. I apply this foundation to my skin with either my Clinique Foundation Brush or my Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush, both of which I feel really give this foundation the most flawless finish it can. When I apply it, I instantly feel like I look awake which is in part do to how hydrating it is and the controversial part- the shimmer. Yes, this foundation does contain shimmer which generally speaking I am not a fan of however in the case of this foundation I feel that the shimmer particles are not very densely packed and are very hard to detect unless you are in really harsh lighting and so it doesn't bother me. Despite the hydrating properties of this foundation, I find it has fairly good wear time on my skin and just has a very natural finish by the end of the 8 hour day I wear it for- usually with foundations instead of them wearing off by the end of the day, they gravitate towards my dry areas which this certainly did not do, hooray! I always, always set this foundation with my Lancome Translucence powder when I wear it since it does tend to transfer which I personally do not find preferable. One thing that I am not a fan of with this foundation is that it has a scent to it that almost reminds me of grandmother's hand soap which I do not like to put on my face- luckily it fades the second it goes on your skin and you don't have to smell that throughout the day. I'm also kind of disappointed generally speaking in Rimmel that their foundations come in 6 different shades of beige and therefore do not begin to accommodate people with pale skin (like myself) and people with even medium- deeper skin tones and if they're going to have a chance at competing with brands like L'Oreal and Revlon they will need to really put some good focus into their shade selection since what they're offering right now is just brutal in terms of shades. I think if you have normal- dry skin and can find a shade that matches your skin you should absolutely, 100% check out this foundation because between the packaging, the glowy finish and the wear time, you really get amazing value for money and I really feel like you will enjoy this foundation. For those with oily skin hoping to try a foundation by Rimmel, I absolutely recommend Rimmel Lasting Perfection foundation. Overall, my experience with this foundation has been lovely and I am very pleased to see that drugstore brands are starting to accommodate people with drier skin types :)

Styling Products -KMS California - Molding Paste
FaceofMaleah 6/3/2013 12:28:00 AM
I was recommended this by the employees at a beauty supply outlet near me for my intense amount of baby hair and I absolutely love it! It is my first time using a styling paste since I have fine hair and I know paste products aren't really recommended for people with fine hair because it could weigh it down. When I get out of the shower and put all of my hair oils in and my leave in conditioner, I comb my hair back to expose the roots and apply the tiniest amount to all the baby hairs that I see. When my hair dries, is when the magic really happens. Somehow my baby hair completely disappear. Using just the tiniest pea-sized amount, they are totally gone and my hair doesn't feel sticky at all which is absolutely wonderful. I believe I got this for around $19 a few months back and I'm pretty sure I'll have this thing for another year (at least!) or two because of the amount of product it comes with. I really love it and am thoroughly impressed. Just as a little warning, I do not recommend using this in dry hair because I did that once before reading the directions and it made my hair clump together and look awful, so always use it in your wet locks! Glad my first experience with hair paste was so positive!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast 24 HR Mascara
FaceofMaleah 5/28/2013 11:57:00 PM
I really, really love this mascara, I would definitely say that its my new favourite from the drugstore. I did like the Covergirl Lashblast Original mascara but I didn't really love how it did not hold curl and it dried out pretty quickly, I went through about a tube a month. This mascara is identical in terms of the wand to the Lashblast Original which I really liked because I found that wand to give me decent volume and really separated my lashes because I detest a clumpy look. The formula of this is definitely wetter than the Lashblast Original which I like since it doesn't dry out as quickly- I wouldn't really consider this a wet formula but it is right between a wet and dry. I curl my lashes before applying this and away I go with around 4 coats- I love my lashes to look big and bold- why else would you apply mascara? After I have put this on my lashes are very volumized, lengthened and perfectly curled and what is most amazing is that they last like this throughout the entire day. I do notice maybe a tiny bit of smudging if I have had this on for like..10+ hours but I usually don't wear my makeup that long and if I do thats what a cotton swab is for- it wipes up easily. This mascara is freaking amazing. Why I only have this 4 lippies is because it is like impossible to take off with normal makeup remover which is definitely a pain. The only remove I have found that takes this off is the Lancome Bi-Facil remover which is definitely a pretty penny so its kind of annoying that you need a special remover to take this off but I am that invested in my lashes that I will pay the price, still with a bit of reluctance. I do believe that this is an awesome mascara and I absolutely recommend it. For those of you looking to try it definitely make sure you have an oil based remover on hand, you'll really need it!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
FaceofMaleah 5/28/2013 11:42:00 PM
I use 1/2 tsp every night in the ends of my damaged and dry hair to keep them hydrated throughout the day and protect it from environmental damage and it works so, so well. My hair has definitely been a lot more happy since I started using the extra virgin olive oil.
