Stick -Oriflame - Duo Core Foundation
rated 2 of 5

I never buyed catalog brands until a few years ago, for I always thought they sold bad quality products. But after trying so many products I know the brand nor the price does guarantee a good product. After my husband succesfully replaced his Biotherm skincare routine with Oriflame products I decided it was worth to give them a chance, even though they are not on the cheap side -for a catalog brand-. I chose this foundation because I was looking for something I could carry in my bag for touch ups, but unfortunately it was a bad choice. I like its practical packaging and perfect shade for my complexion -as yellow as I need-. I dislike -very much- how my face looks after applying -which I did several times using every technique I know-; even mixing it with moisturizer the skin looked very dry and uneven; finally, although it wasnīt expensive, there are far better products within the same price range.

Liquid -Lancome - Photogenic Ultra Confort
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 2/14/2013 4:21:00 PM

I used to splurge on skincare and makeup being Lancome my favorite "high end" brand. But a few years ago I decided to try a few drugstore products in order to save a little money. Many of these products, specially skincare, have worked, but it has been very hard to find something close enough to this specific foundation: it matches my yellow undertoned skin, conceals redness and brown spots, make my pores and lines less noticeable, looks satiny, my skin feels moisturized, is very easy to apply with a brush or fingers and has a lovely scent I enjoy. Of course, the only downside is the price. Iīve almost given up trying to find a good cheap foundation that suits my needs. Honestly Iīm just waiting to try Ideal Flawless from Avon and if it doesnīt work as I expect, I will return using Lancome Photogenic for special ocassions only. For a daily basis Iīve found Skin79 BB Cream works great.

Foundations -Vichy - Dermablend Corrective Foundation
rated 3 of 5
FabCo 2/12/2013 2:22:00 AM

I began to buy foundation at my twenties to mix it with sunscreen and give it a little coverage without the common whitecast. But as soon as I reached thirty, the signs of aging began to appear and it freaked me out, so I thought full coverage foundation was a must. That is why I bought Vichy Dermablend: a real full coverage foundation. It has a limited range of shades and I didnīt find a perfect match: too dark during winter, too light during summer and no yellow undertones. Unfortunately for me, during the time I bought it, I moved to a city in the middle of the desert and the extreme heat melted it all; I had to apply it constantly and it looked cakey by noon. I decided to mix it with Smashbox HD Foundation -which I didnīt like- and it reduced the thickness and coverage, but looked better.

Foundations -Smashbox - High Definition Healthy FX Foundation
rated 2 of 5
FabCo 2/12/2013 1:55:00 AM

Iīm not sure if this is a bad product or I simply didnīt knew how to use it, but Iīm surprised I managed to finish the bottle. It has a weird consistency for a liquid foundation, IMO itīs more like a primer. Has no coverage at all and whenever I tried to build it up, it clumped. On the same make up haul I bought the Halo Perfecting Powder -which I like a lot- but when I applied it to "set" the foundation, it clumped again. As for the shade, it was a peachy beige on the bottle but almost invisible when applied -again, no coverage at all-. Finally I decided to mix it with another foundation -Dermablend from Vichy- so I could finish the bottle; fortunately it worked, diminishing the thickness from Dermablend but keeping the coverage.

Moisturizers -Avon - Anew Luminosity Ultra
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 2/11/2013 11:06:00 PM

Iīm not sure if this is the product Iīve been using as it has another name in my country -Anew Clinical Luminosity Pro-. Also, according to some reviewers, it is discontinued -and I guess it is, for the last review is from 2 years ago-. It is a night cream I apply after thoroughly cleansing my face twice. When I feel the skin a little dry, I also moisturize prior applying with a few drops of pure glycerine. Gives me a nice glow soon after and the texture of my skin is amazing by the morning -extremely soft-. If I apply too much, it clumps and sometimes it stings a little. Unfortunately Iīve seen no improvement in my spots so far, even though I religiously use it every night. But by now I donīt expect miracles, well, not even a slight improvement in brownspots using creams. Anyway, I will keep using it until my two jars -2x1 sale- are finished.

Lip Treatments -La Roche Posay - Anthelios 50+ XL Stick for lips
rated 5 of 5
FabCo 2/11/2013 10:43:00 PM

Even though this is a lip product I decided to use it as an undereye moisturizer, primer and of course, sunscreen. And it has worked great so far. Both butters -shea and cocoa- have helped with the lines, the white cast -concealer added- camouflages the undereye circles and the thickness of the product helps the concealer from creasing.

Sunscreen -Avon - Anew Solar Advance Face SPF 45
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 2/11/2013 10:18:00 PM

I always thought Avon was a bad quality brand, but after buying so many beauty products Iīve concluded you can find something that suits your needs anywhere at any price. Although this is not my HG, I would say, overall, is a good sunscreen. Great moisturizing texture, no white cast, no extreme shine and no taste -not sure if someone has experienced this, but as soon as I apply certain sunscreens I sense a bitter taste-. It hasnīt been a long time since I bought it -half price btw- so Iīm not sure yet about the antiaging properties. And about itīs main purpose -protect the skin from sun- is more a matter of hope: my sunspots are not darker nor lighter -even using a night cream from the same brand- and through the years, those lovely spots have been "moving" all over, sometimes are smaller and sometimes bigger -like now-, no matter which sunscreen I use. Honestly, as dumb as it sounds, I feel safer using it.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Profusion-Aqua Stylish Silky Milk Foundation
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 2/11/2013 9:55:00 PM

I never heard about Profusion until a month ago, when I bought an eyeshadow palette. As it was good enough, I took the chance to buy this extremely inexpensive foundation. Iīm amazed at how great it matches my complexion -better than any other foundation Iīve owned- although under sunlight it appeared a little darker and pinkish; indoors looks great. The coverage is good -makes my sunspots and redness almost unoticeable- and it is easy to apply, blend and build up using a brush -I will try with a damp sponge later-. It has a satiny finish, which I prefer. It does not transfer setting it with powder -I used Smashbox Halo Perfecting Powder-. The only downside is the smell: I would define it as an intense sweet very old fashioned scent, and unfortunately, it takes a long time to fade. I looked up for reviews and found none, which makes me guess is not as good as I think. Honestly, despite the good results, I want to be cautious for we all tend to think a small price tag -in this case tiny- means bad quality and a little risk. Will look forward for another MUA reviewer on this product. UPDATE: At first I applied it by noon and it didnīt wear off, but it does if I apply it in the morning and oxidizes a little, so I will use it just around the face in places where I donīt need much coverage and a fuller coverage lighter foundation in the center to add tridimensionality to the face.

Concealers -Essence - Forget it! 3in1 concealer
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 1/27/2013 2:54:00 PM

The best color corrector Iīve tried so far. Itīs very sheer, almost no coverage, but thatīs the asset that makes it good. I use the green-blue shade to highlight under the brow and counteract redness around nose, the pink as an undereye concealer and to camouflage sunspots and the yellow one to layer it over the pink. Although targeted to teenagers works perfect on my over 30 skin for it does not sit in wrinkles. And it is extremely cheap!

Foundations -E.L.F. - All Over Cover Stick in Fair
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 12/15/2012 5:15:00 PM

I love this little stick foundation: orangy smell, soft texture, nice useful packaging, medium coverage, yellow undertones (rosy beige shade). I bought it to keep it in my purse for touch ups and as an undereye concealer. The only downside is the price: being a super cheap brand all over the world, in my country it is sold 300% over its original price.

Crčme -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless
rated 3 of 5
FabCo 12/15/2012 4:58:00 PM

Despite itīs bad reviews I decided to buy this cream foundation, based on the price and most of all spf. I like the texture and the packaging. Unfortunately, even layering, itīs not full coverage as I expected; it looks cakey and makes my dry patches stand out. In order to make it work I over moisturize and add some glycerine to it; this way it glides efortlessly and manages to make my skin look even and with a certain glow, with the downside it wears off really quickly. IMO the serum is completely useless. UPDATE: I added one lippie because after applying it with a damp sponge, the texture, coverage and overall appearance improved, but not as much to make me buy it again.

Toners -L'Occitane - Immortelle Brightening water
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 4/19/2012 12:42:00 AM

After using an alcohol based toner for years I decided to switch to a milder one that would suit my skin better (Iīm over 30 and my skin is dry and dull with a few sun spots). This one works great: smells nice, isnīt harsh, takes away the dirt cleanser might have left, moisturizes and brightens my complexion. Even though I would buy it again, Iīm not sure if I should keep using toners.

Cleansers -L'Occitane - Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 4/19/2012 12:34:00 AM

I needed a light, refreshing cleanser that would help brightening my skin and after surfing the net for weeks I decided this one would suit all my needs. Fortunately it didnīt dissapointed me: has a great texture, nice smell and cleans my skin without making it feel dry. Besides it comes in a refillable little bottle (I bought the smaller version).

Moisturizers -Sisley - Ecological Compound
rated 1 of 5
FabCo 4/19/2012 12:18:00 AM

During a shopping rampage I decided to buy this -now I know- overhyped moisturizer. It is an uberexpensive average moisturizer: does nothing a drugstore one canīt do. Btw, I received a lot of Sisley samples and sincerely I donīt understand why it is SO expensive: average products, awful smell.

BB Cream -Skin79 - Super+ BB Cream Pink Label
rated 4 of 5
FabCo 4/19/2012 12:08:00 AM

After reading about the BBcream and korean skincare hype, I found out this is the only brand available at my country. I started using this one and I loved it: my skin looked amazing even after removing it; but after a few months the effect decreased. Now it still works, but not as great as the first week. I apply it over the moisturizer and before the powder (from the same brand). I will keep using skin79 BBcreams but will switch to a dry skin version.
