Loose Powders -Ben Nye - Neutral Set translucent powder
FL_peach 6/10/2004 6:17:00 AM
Fabulous powder! I have gone through so many loose powders lately searching for something to keep me from getting so shiny. This stuff does the job. By lunchtime, I dust a little more over my face and stay shine-free all day! I bought mine in the shaker bottle, and was a little confused when it came as to how to use it. But, I just popped open one of my reject loose powder containers, emptied it out, and put the Ben Nye in. Works great!

Geez, why'd I wait so long to buy one of these?? I've gone through 2 Conair metal plated ones from the drugstore. They got my curly hair relatively straight, but took forever to do that and were becoming very damaging. To top it off, after spending around an hour straightening, it would pop back wavy half-way through the day. So, in not wanting to spend 200 bucks on a CHI, I bought this one 2 days ago. In about 20 min, I have stick straight, healthy feeling, frizz-free hair. This saves me sooo much time in the morning, and produces fabulous results. The only thing that bothers me is that if you are not careful, you can indeed snag your hair a bit in the space at the end of the plates, but it rarely happens. Overall, great iron, keeps my hair straight, even after sleeping on it :) I bought the Porcelain Series 2 1/2in model.

Loose Powders -Sally Hansen - Sally Hansen/Cornsilk Healthy Beauty mattifying powder [DISCONTINUED]
FL_peach 2/20/2004 10:52:00 PM
Wow, this stuff surprised me! I used to have problems with an oily t-zone, but no more! This powder is *excellent* at mattifying and giving a flawless finish. One of the few drugstore powders I've come across that doesn't morph into an orangy color midway through the day either. I had to discontinue use of my previous fav, NYC Loose, because of the orange factor. That said, the only detractor of using this powder is the odd smell. It's not horrible, but not that great either, luckily it fades quickly. All in all, I have found my new HG! YAY!

Liquid -L'Oreal - Mattique Liquid Foundation [DISCONTINUED]

I bought this as a replacement for my Maybelline Shine Free, because Walmart was out of my shade, Ivory. I think this will be my new staple foundation. Gives nice medium coverage and truly does provide a matte finish. The first time I applied, I got an uneven finish until I tried applying with a damp sponge. This works great, you still get a matte finish, but it is smoother and more "glowy". The color Soft Ivory is a perfect match for my porcelain complextion.

Styling Products -Citre Shine - Shine Mist

I recently have been using the Citre Shine Polishing Serum because my Walmart was all out of the Shine Mist. It was too heavy and greasy to do my bouncy curly hair any good. Finally, I now have the shine mist. This is perfect for spraying on dry hair to smooth out the frizzies and flyaways. The best part is that it adds a lusterous shine w/out being greasy or weighing my hair down. Two big thumbs up from this curly-haired gal! :)

Man I really want to love this stuff - smells delicious and very true to it's name, but it doesn't last more than an hour or so on me. Eh, oh well.

Conditioner -Suave - 2-Minute Deep Conditioning Treatment
FL_peach 6/10/2003 8:44:00 PM
Good good stuff. It was nice and rich while on my hair, then rinsed w/out leaving a residue, and left me with soft, conditioned, bouncy hair. I have naturally wavy/curly hair and this definitely did not weigh it down in the slightest. Surprising rave seeing as this is Suave we're talking about!

Shave Products -Aveeno - Therapeutic Shave Gel

After years of fighting w/ my supremely sensitive legs, I decided to try this stuff. Complete godsend! I lather my legs up w/ this, exfoliate w/ a loofah, then shave off the residue. If I think my legs are extra sensitive that day, I will massage a teeny bit more gel in afterwards. I get almost no razor bumps, or ingrowns, and best of all .... no itching at all!!!!

This stuff works wonders at getting rid of a pimple quick, and I mean overnight quick sometimes! It drastically reduces the life of any blemish that pops up on my face and helps with redness also. When I first got this, I applied it all over my face - big mistake. I was either allergic to BP, or my clear skin didn't like being told it had a pimple, because I immediately got little tiny red bumps everywhere. I have since used this only as a spot treatment with phenomenal results! Highly recommend!

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri

This is worth it's weight in gold. Truly dries polish super quick without bubbling or eating away at the color underneath. I used this on top of a CG Nailslicks polish on my toes and it has lasted 2 weeks with no chipping!!! Definitely will repurchase! Edit : Well I'm staying away from this stuff, the moment it begins to age the slightest, it causes streaking and air bubbles when applied to completely dried color. Ah, well.

God I don't know how I possibly lived without this before. I live in humid South Florida and seem to have overactive sweat-glands. I would always wear a cardigan over my shirt if I knew I was going to be up in front of people at school, and don't even get me started about being nervous and sweating on dates...! Then someone on these MUA boards recommended this stuff, I'd like to hug them to death! If you apply once a night, you practically don't sweat at all, and you can start tapering off to applying once every 3 or 4 days if you find that it works well enough. I will definitely repurchase, but I haven't run out yet, that bottle lasts a long time! :)

Lotions/ Creams -Queen Helene - Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion

Well this stuff is just great on legs. Makes them nice and soft, and adds just a bit of sheen. The smell is nice too - coconut, but a lighter coconut, not too apparent. The price is awesome, you get a giant bottle - which yes is quite unattractive, but who cares it works great!

Hair -Alberto Vo5 - Alberto Vo5 Shampoo's & Condioners; General

While many of the scents are fabulous, I find that both the shampoo and conditioners perform well for about a week, then become extremely drying on my wavy/curly hair.

I completely agree w/ the first reviewer, this does smell *exactly* like Quaker Peaches & Cream Oatmeal. Unfortunately good scent does not always equal good shampoo. While at first this seemed to be great, it started to be drying after about 2 weeks. So I discontinued it's use as a shampoo, and used the rest of it up as a body wash instead - which worked great! :)

Loose Powders -New York Color - loose translucent powder
FL_peach 6/8/2003 12:18:00 AM
I have found my holy grail loose powder! I was looking for an oil controlling powder that still looked natural, and stumbled across this little gem. Lightly dusted over my foundation, it gives a flawless, natural finish that honestly keeps oil slicks at bay most of the day. I don't have a problem w/ this being too "light" because I have an almost porcelain complexion at the moment. The packaging does suck - that little sponge thing inside is useless, toss it - but for less than 3 bucks for an AWESOME powder, who cares?!?
