Palettes -Tokidoki - Robbery Palette
rated 5 of 5
Emmi87 1/10/2011 4:20:00 PM

I was given this palette as a gift and I have to say I am really impressed with the quality of the product itself. I love love love the packaging (tokidoki is suuper amazing) and the tin is a great for storing all my other single shadows without a palette home! I don't have the heart to throw away the base that holds the three individual palettes so I've kept it stowed away.. ya i'm starting to become a pack rat but only with makeup.. hehe..All the colors are very pigmented and last all day with primer underneath. $140 worth of product for only $50! Not bad at all.. The first palette on the left is called Lion Pride and it contains very day wearable shades. My favorite two eyeshadows in this are Lion Pappa (a medium brown with a bit of sheen to it but leaning to more matte) and Bulletto (a deep brown that is true matte). It comes with a bronzer and I find this to be very pigmented and matte. No sparkles and no redness whatsoever! Love it.. The second palette is called Arlecchino and it contains four playful colors. I am really into the acid green color called Soya paired with a mix of the purple and blue color (Ninja Dog and Meteo, respectively) I find that the white shade Candy Cane is too shimmery and sparkles fly if you're not careful..it does work overtop other colors to give it more shimmer though. The blush that it comes with is soo cute! I love pink blushes and this one is called Momobella. It has gold flecks in it but it isn't noticable when it is applied. The pigmentation is very good so a light hand is needed when applying. The third palette is called Rapina which contains deeper shades for evening wear and such. Liberty is one of my favorites in this palette it has a green base sheen to it and it's a very deep color. It does need to be packed on to get the full effect but it is also lovely as a light sweep over the eye to keep it wearable during the day. Adios is another favorite being a very matte black color. The blush is called Polpettina and its a rosier color with gold flecks as well. It creates a nice flush of color like i've just come in from the cold. All in all great palettes! I'm glad this is in my collection. I won't repurchase because I'm guessing this was a limited edition palette, but I will consider other eyeshadows in the tokidoki line.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Airy Fairy
rated 5 of 5
Emmi87 12/15/2010 3:20:00 PM

What's with the haterade on this poor lipstick? It's been love at first swipe for me :) Ya its got that "hint" of mauve, but it's got enough golden shimmer to make it wearably warm! On my NC30-35 skin it's a cute pink, and believe me I've got a hard time wearing pink..but not with this little beauty! I'm glad I didn't give in to the negative hype and this is one of many products I've purchased on the the advice of the MUA community. Rimmel has a new look for their lasting wear lipsticks. It used to be a plain tube but now it has a silver band in the middle and it's quite slimmer which I prefer. It is also a tad heavier than before which gives it a nice feel when applying. It does smell very synthetic-y but thats ok. I also noticed some tingling feeling...But beautiful color! All in all 5 out of 5 for this one!

Liquid -MAC - Select SPF 15 Foundation
rated 4 of 5
Emmi87 12/6/2010 4:08:00 PM

Things I like: 1. Matches my skin magically. A touch too yellow but I'm happy there's even yellow in it! Most foundations are too beigey pink for me. The only other foundation I'd consider is MUFE High Def foundation but it's totally out of my price range. I mean $46 for foundation? Really? 2. Easy to blend with light to medium coverage. It's not too liquidy and when applied in light layers it can be built up without caking. 3. Doesn't irritate my skin at all and great that it has spf 15. Things I don't like: 1. No pump. It's very dumb to have to buy one seperately but that's what MAC does. Apparently they don't have enough money so they make us buy pumps seperately. Goodness. 2. Its too expensive for the amount given. I use this everyday and I can't afford buying $30 foundation every three months. That's $120 a year! If I didn't have acne scars and uneven skin tone I wouldn't be using it every day. Overall good product, just not worth the price tag. I'm sure there's really good foundation that lasts a reasonable amount of time for the same or lesser price than MAC. I'm still going to try their mineralize foundations..

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Makeup Dissolving Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Emmi87 12/6/2010 3:55:00 PM

This is my HG makeup cleanser and facial cleanser! It says on the bottle that you can remove even waterproof mascara and it totally does.. It doesn't dry out my face or make it itchy at all and I have crazy sensitive skin when it comes to cleansers. This is a very mild formula but strong enough to get rid of dirt and makeup. I usually cleanse twice and then put moisturizer. There's no need for a toner with this stuff! I like the foamy-ness since it lasts a long time. The price was ridiculous I just might get another one since it was such a sweet sale! regular 9.99 on sale for 6.99. Sometimes Shoppers has it goin on..

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nail Lacquer - Teal My Heart
rated 4 of 5
Emmi87 11/27/2010 10:08:00 PM

This shade I'm also assuming is from the Fall/Winter 2010 line for Aldo and I have to admit I thought this shade was super pretty...in the bottle..now that I see it on my hands I don't think it's all that. It looks more like a dark forest green shade than teal. Maybe because my skin is on the yellow side it brings out the green in the color. It would probably look better on someone with cooler toned skin. Formulation is excellent, not gunky but smooth and looks great after one or two coats. I wouldn't buy this again however.. no tears for teal...

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nail Lacquer - Ecoist
rated 5 of 5
Emmi87 11/27/2010 10:03:00 PM

Aldo does nail polish?? Apparently it's true seeing as I own two of them.. The first shade that caught my eye is Ecoist which I'm assuming is from their Fall/Winter 2010 line. It's a muddy, chocolatey shade of taupe brown and I'm in love! The pigmentation is very good, not streaky at all, and after two thin coats, is perfection on my nails! I guess you could also cheat and do one thick coat and it would be ok too. The only miff I had was how long it took to dry! Other than that, color is good, packaging awesome (looks like GOSH nail polish packaging) and price is reasonable. Yay for browns! Way to go Aldo..

Crème -MAC - Studio Tech
rated 3 of 5
Emmi87 11/17/2010 4:27:00 PM

At first I really liked this foundation. It matched my skin, went on smoothly, blended well, and didn't cake during the day. I could build it up from medium to full no problem. But as I kept wearing it over the weeks, I found it would disappear even with primer and setting powder. At the end of the day it would be completely gone, like I wasn't wearing makeup at all! The compact was nice and it made applying foundation easy in the morning but when I would open it, it went right to the sponge applicator section which I don't even use. For the price I don't think this is worth getting seeing as it doesn't last, and the packaging isn't as convenient as I'd like it to be. ah picky picky I know...

Eyeliner -Quo - cream eyeliner - black velvet
rated 4 of 5
Emmi87 11/10/2010 12:53:00 PM

I've never tried eyeliner in cream form! It's always been either liquid or pencil. I've yet to try MAC gel liner in black track. I heard Maybelline's got good gel liners as well. The only reason I bought this was because Shoppers $5 bin told me to. The thing was only $2!! like come on! So it's got a nice consistency except it fades over time and it isn't as black as a liquid or even a pencil. I like to mix it with Benefit's Creaseless cream shadow in Busy Signal. The black of the Quo cream liner mixes nicely with the brown to give it a little more definition without too much drama. It softens up a harsh liquid line as well making it more wearable during the day. I really like this just not on its own and that's why I only give it a 4 out of 5. Packaging is very nice! doesn't dry it out or anything..

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - El Dorado
rated 4 of 5
Emmi87 11/10/2010 12:38:00 PM

I've never owned Gold eyeliner before and I wanted to try this one out after seeing a makeup tutorial on youtube. It's a really nice gold, not too yellow or orange. No stupid sparkles either! I like to use it on the inner corner or lower lash line for some daytime glamour. I think it wakes up the eyes very nicely and can go with a lot of different eyeshadows. I just hate how expensive this thing is! Very good quality but I'll be on the hunt for a dupe because I can't justify spending this much on eyeliner I wear maybe once every two weeks..

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eyeshadow Trio - Bronze Glitz
rated 5 of 5
Emmi87 11/10/2010 12:32:00 PM

This trio I bought was only cuz the one shade was a good dupe for MAC amber lights. PRETTY! The packaging everyone knows is garbage and since I'm afraid it'll fall apart on me I don't carry it around in my purse. The shades are all very wearable but somehow I find not wearable together? I like to use these either on their own or paired with other eyeshadows. The darker shade and the middle shade are too close in color and I find it muds when I try to blend them. The highlight is great! Nice and shimmery and not a lot of fallout. It tends to fade during the day though but that's cuz my lids are permanently creased. Who knew the eye could suffer from weight gain as well?? I'm definitely buying again..

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
rated 4 of 5
Emmi87 11/10/2010 12:27:00 PM

Falsies? MEH. Mascara that holds curl til the cows come home? YAH! My lashes fight tooth and nail to stay straight but this mascara kicks their butts back into shape. A curved shape may I add. It's a mother to take off though and since I'm not a fan of rubbing my eye area like a madwoman (wrinkles!!!they will come!!!) I only save this mascara for the times I need longevity. Everyday I use Benefit's Badgal. I've never used maybelline mascara before and this one isn't half bad. It doesn't make my lashes look like falsies. Which makes their advertisement a FALSIE in itself. HAhaha...too clever I know.. EDIT: I'm actually really liking this mascara now that it's had time to thicken up a bit. It really lengthens my lashes and that's saying a lot seeing as I have what's been unfortunately called "asian lash syndrome" definition being: short stubby straight lashes. One extra lippy for you Falsies:)

Polishes -Essie - Jazz
rated 3 of 5
Emmi87 11/10/2010 11:14:00 AM

I have to admit I got this polish purely from reading MUA reviews and one of my favorite youtube gurus had this posted as her "THE nude polish"...I am pretty disappointed as I've got this on now and the only thing keeping me from looking like I stole the crypt keeper's hands is the nice shiny glaze. It it were a matte finish it would be deadness. The color is a mauvey taupe and looks a bit like cappuccino with a hint of violet. It's pretty cool toned for a nude. I really wanted to love this but all I can do is MEH at it. It's very pretty in the bottle but on my skin tone it's not the greatest. It would probably work on someone with fairer skin. I'm medium toned and it just kinda falls flat. Formulation is excellent however and it takes only 2 coats to become opaque. Hasn't chipped or faded since application 24 hours ago. It is a chic color, just not for me... So sad!!

Polishes -GOSH - Silky Mint
rated 4 of 5
Emmi87 11/10/2010 10:40:00 AM

Mint? Not really. More like Silky Jade to me. HOWEVER> This is a really great color and awesome formula. This polish lasted 3 whole days without chipping! Packaging is the cutest! I like the streamlined cylindrical look and the black top. Classy! The color is pretty opaque but not as creamy as I would hope it to be. It takes 2-3 coats for a good solid dose of color. Very nice shade of green and it seems to work with my skin tone (NC30). I alse paid a pretty penny for it. Not really. It was $2 CAD. I love shoppers $5 Bin. Second Gosh product I've used and this one didn't let me down! If only I bought the pink and yellow polishes also on sale... why???

Blush -Rimmel - Blush in Pink Rose
rated 5 of 5
Emmi87 10/6/2010 3:20:00 PM

My skin is MAC NC 30-35 and I find this very pigmented! I was afraid it wouldn't show on my skin or become chalky because of its seemingly light color, but I'm very impressed with the quality of this drugstore blush. I'm trying not to buy makeup as I already have way too much, ie. eyeshadows (I have tons to last a lifetime!), eyeliners, powders, foundation, etc. But I only have two blush colors! Coral and peach. So I think this is a good buy since it was on sale and I don't own a nice pink blush. Oh and dandelion by benefit doesn't really count. It's more of a face powder than a blush. I've always been afraid of blush since my skin tone makes me afraid of almost any color out there (yellow, very yellow undertones!). Since I've seen a lot of pink blushes on the cooler side, I decided to get the warmest pink shade of the rimmel blushes. The pink rose seemed to be more on the peach side and so I went for the plunge. I am not regretting it one bit! The lights at work are probably THE worst for anyone's complexion and yet my cheeks look nice and healthy. I was worried a bit about the shimmer, but it doesn't show much on the face. I'm not sure about lasting power just yet.. but i don't really mind when blush fades on me though:P The packaging is cute, I love the rimmel crown! I think that's why I have a lot of rimmel products, they know how to make their packaging really cute! However, I'm afraid if I drop it it'll shatter, but I guess that's what comes with the drugstore pricing. Can't beat the quality though, so I will definitely be buying again! I'm going to try some other shades as well..

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Infallible Eye Liner - All Colors
rated 5 of 5
Emmi87 9/27/2010 3:34:00 PM

I can't believe there's only one other review on this liner! This is really great eyeliner, nothing I've tried has worked as good as this and for such a low price! It's insane! When I tightline my eyes with other liners it smudges right away on my lower waterline and I HATE that. With this eyeliner I found after waiting a second or two before I blinked, it stayed put. No budging! It comes with a smudger on the end of it and this works well too. I use it to smudge out other color liners I have. I will have to buy this liner again since it's the only thing that works!
