WARNING: DO NOT USED ON CHEMICALLY TREATED (ESPECIALLY BLEACHED) HAIR! I figured I'd put that out there first, since no where did I find this warning in my online research of amla powder. I have about 4 inches of roots and 20 inches of chemically dyed hair. I did a pre-shampoo oil before using this. My roots are beautiful and shiny while the chemically processed hair got dry and fizzy, and the very ends where there is just a little bit of bleach left over from my ombre phase was like straw! I had to add more oil to the ends and then wash and condition to get the ends to feel normal I used this on my acne and it really helped. I only left it on 2 minutes but next time I'll leave it on longer. OVERAL: use on virgin hair, or roots only if you are not coloring anymore. It is very drying on chemially process hair. It is good if you know how to use it. Also good on skin
Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm in Pink Punch
Emim05 9/10/2012 2:38:00 PM
i bought the pink punch and the clear one after finding out my favorite lip balm had been discontinued and I wasn't willing to pay $9 for the product and $9 for shipping. Any-hoo... The clear one has a light fruity scent but doesn't last as long on my lips. The pink one (this review) is brighter than I thought but not horrible looking and has a nice pink punch taste. lol. It lasts less than an hour but even after my lips don't feel sticky or dry. They feel conditioned. The pink punch will definately be my repurchase one. The other one i have as an emergency makeup kit incase I misplace this one.
Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Coconut Bath and Shower Cream
Emim05 9/10/2012 2:28:00 PM
I got a sample of this from my hair stylist and went back to buy a big bottle when the sample ran out. A little really does go a long way. I like that it's not a soap-based "soap" It smells good and leave my skin clean and not dried out. I buy it from ulta (normally $15, on sale for $9) the 750 ml size. It has a pump which is convenient but I give it a 3 for packaging because it's bulky and won't sit in my shower. I have to bring it in and out with me. Although it's a cream you have to search "the body shop body gel" on the ulta website to find it. This will last me a long time but I will definately buy it again. $15 for a shower gel that will last me a year or longer is definately a good deal
I got a sample of the smash box bb cream in light at Ulta. It is amazing! It is like a foundation, primer, etc And a little bit goes a long way. I usually have to lotion, prime, foundation, veil, blush. With this product (I was suppose to use lotion before but I didnt') I just put it on. It's thick like a tinted moisturizer but covered my red and (non-whithead) acne like a foundation and powder. I still see my acne but without the redness. My skin feels silky smooth with this product on. When my sample runs out I am definately going to puchase. It's $39.00 at Ulta. I say the price is a 3 because no it's not a $10 drugstore brand but it's also not a $50+ department store cream. I think if you don't need lots of coverage (wrinkles or giant acne) and just want something quick to throw on before you run out the door this is it! Otherwise this would make an awesome product to go under your mineral makeup or a powder.
4 lippies because it does not actually contain Jasmine oil. I bought it online for $8 but I've heard you can get it for cheaper in an indian grocery store. Ingredients: Paraffinum Liquidum, Cotton Seed Oil, Sesame Oil (Sesamum Indicum oil), t-Butyl Hydoquinoine (Anti oxidant), Frangrance. Colors: D&C Yellow No. 10, D&C Red No. 17 I put the ingrediants because many online stores don't put the ingrediants (most likely to hold the fact that it doesn't have any actual Jasmine oil!) I did this a pre-shampoo oiling. I have 1b/f/ii hair (finer caucasian brown hair). A little bit goes a long way. No need to make your hair look wet with oil. After 30 minutes I shampooed. I should have added more to my ends and less to my roots. I did this on saturday and now on monday I can really see the difference in my hair. It's shiny, soft, smooth. It's exactly what I've been trying to acheive with several different shampoo and condition mixtures. I've gotten complents on the smell. About the smell: it smells offensive in the bottle but once it is heating up with your body head it smells pleasant but strong. And after you shampoo a light jasmine smell stays.
I wish I could love this. I got a beautiful mini bottle at younkers as a sample. It is my perfect shade, made my skin silky but something happened around 5 pm my jaw line would get itchy and by the end of the night i had huge pimples. By the end of day 3 i had 7 huge zits. This is whether I used primer or not. Now i had read a review that said girls just weren't washing their face good enough...but i wash my face every night, moisturize, and use vitamin e oil and had a beautiful complection. I gave my skin a rest from the makeup today and my skin didn't itch and my acne is subsiding. BITTOM LINE: Get a sample before you spend $35 on an entire bottle
UPDATE: 9/10/12 - I will not buy this again and I threw it out a few months ago. I couldn't figure out why I kept getting these bumps on my face and found out by other reviews that this producy causes milia(sp?) milia is small hard balls of oil that form in the pore. Within a week of stopping the use of this product the milia went away and my face stopped breaking out. OLD REVIEW: In the past I've used the olay pink lotion but it was too heavy for my skin and I broke out. It was probably the fragrance or the coloring that made me break out more than the lotion itself. I've been using aveeno regular lotion but it was so heavy I looked greesy so I went in search a lotion specifically for my face. I got the olay complete sensative spf 15 because i figured it would bee lighter than the pink i've tried in the past and it came with a free full size foaming sensative face wash (which I've also reviewed now). I am starting to like it. It doesn't have a smell and it is not greesy what so ever. I have facial dandruff and using this is helping calm my skin.
I was generally surpised by how much I like this product. I'm usually a carmax or chapstick girl but I was getting tired of the waxey low lasting quality. So I picked up a two pack of this at walmart for under $2. Love how silky it actually makes my lips feel and it isn't heavy or waxy feeling like everything else out there, it feels like it actually sinks into my lips instead of sitting on the skin. It's actually very fruity smelling. The biggest compliment I got was when my husband bent down to give me and kiss and came back for another one because he liked the silk and shine so much. lol. That's saying a lot because he doesn't like to kiss me with lip gloss or chapstick on...and refuses to kiss me with lipstick on. I give it a four for over all appeal, packaging, and actually doing what it says.
Cleansers -Olay - Sensitive Skin Foaming Face Wash
Emim05 2/19/2012 9:52:00 PM
was a free full size sample when I bought the olay complete sensitive lotion at target. I give it a 3 because it doesn't "foam" even when I add water and emulsify in my hands (it doesn't make sense to me because it's called foaming face wash!) and it does make my face feel super tight as soon as I rinse it off. Good thing it came with the lotion because they do make a good pair. Without the lotion this wouldn't be a great product. Honestly I wouldn't buy it again or use it once I'm out unless it came with the lotion again. I'll try and update in a month or so and see if I like it still.
Eye Shadow -New York Color - Individual Eyes Custom Compact 940U Central Park
Emim05 10/3/2011 9:53:00 PM
I have blue eyes with a hint of green in one. The store i bought mine at only had the blue one in smokey eye dark colors and i wanted an everyday look so i bought the individual eyes for green eyes. I love it. It comes in colors that go really well with blue eyes because there is a champagne color, gold, light brown, and a darker shimmery brown. The rimer doesn't work on it's own (hence 4 stars) i use my smashbox green primer first then it works. It blends well. Honestly i watched a michellephan video and i went out prepared to scour the store for all these colors but was so happy to find this. I have got so many complements since the first application. I wear it everyday
I always wear liquid foundation in the colder months so i bought this bcause of the amazing under $3 price. Day one it was awesome and my skin looked even and nice. Since having a child my skin isn't that prone to breakouts but i accidentally fell asleep with this on one night and i wokr up with greasy pimply skin. I washed it off right away but the next day i had more pimples. I haven't slpt in it since but my skin seem oiler to me....but well i'll give it another two weeks and if i still break out its trash
Gels/Soaps -Ulta - 3 in 1 Shower Smoothie - Chocolate Fudge Cake
Emim05 3/26/2011 9:10:00 PM
I washed my hands with (hot water) this in the ulta salon bathroom and was so sad to find out it was seasonal. It smells just like chocolatey fudge icing that pilsburry or duncan heines makes. not sure which one because my sister is the one that makes the cakes lol My skin has light fragrant chocolate (nothing overwhelming) smell. it is a little bit drying. but nothing that is really noticable. my hands have just been in the cold outside so that might be more than problem then the wash. Definately a way to curb my cravings for cake lol
This is my go to night mascara. I have longer lashes but less volume and this is wonderful. friends have commented and asked how i got my eyeliner to look so good and clean. I wasn't wearing eyeliner it was just the mascara! :) I use the great last in soft black for days and volum in the darkest black at night :) Also the brush is great because it's not made out of rubber/laytex mix like most other volum brushes. I am allergic to laytex and those kinds make me tear up and my eyes burn all day long. Go maybelline for making great mascaras
I see all these bad reviews for this makeup and I guess if you where looking for a mascara that gives drama to the eyelashes then this isn't for you. But if you like a soft natural, everyday look Great Lash is wonderful. I choose great lash soft black over any other brand. The brush is "puny" as someone put, but It is my ideal brush. It is easy to get every lash. And it isn't made out of the laytex/rubber mix like a lot of other brushes. I am allergic to laytex and it makes my eyes burn and tear up. Also even if my eyelashes curl (like eye lashes do through out the day) it doesn't make you feel sticky. I like the no mascara look but my lashes are a really light brown and this gives me a natural looking long dark lash. I bought soft black. blackest black is really ugly on me and very unnatural. The other one i go between when i want volume is maybelline volume express original in blackest black waterproof. Also I didn't get racoon eyes until i fell asleep in it and even then it was very light.
You do need to put a thin layer of powder underneath. I use pressed powder foundation of any brand underneath or it does sink in and get greasy and its hard for your skin to breath without it. I bought this to help with my dry skin but it seems to make it look worse :(
