Eyeliner -Styli-Style - Line&Seal
Elveanare 4/5/2012 2:52:00 PM
I am an ICU nurse, working night shift. I've always struggled with eye liner that wont smudge, or rive me racoons eyes by morning. I happened to be walking threw the drugstore when I saw this, and decided why not? The price wasn't too bad. I bought it in Black Pearl. It is a slightly more subtle black with a little glitter shine in it. I really wanted charcoal, but either they do not make it or the store didn't have it. I wore it to work for the first time last night, and I am seriously impressed. Not only did it survive a 12 hour shift, but it lasted threw a code blue and 20min of CPR, which is equivalent to a good cardio and upper body strength workout. It was still almost totally intact when I got home. Then, I fell asleep with it, and it remained nearly intact 6 hours later when I woke up! I'm seriously impressed!

Eyeliner -Almay - Intense i-Color Bring out the Blue
Elveanare 4/7/2007 2:58:00 PM
While wandering through Big Lots a while ago I found a total set for blue eyes (shadow, liner and mascara). Now, for starters, I think this shadow helped to re-new my love affair with eyeliner. I like a more subtle natural look, and most liners were just...far too much. The sort of coppery color of this liner though was perfect. Its easy to apply, and difines while looking natural on my fair skin. My only complaint is that it seems to have no staying power when any wit of water is involved! Not what you want to wear if its rainy or your off to the gym!

Loose Powders -Coty - Airspun Fragrance Free Luminous Translucent Loose Powder

So I've tried a LOT of powders, and this one always intrested me...but I never bought it until I saw it at the dollar store...and since I had always wanted to try it...I couldn't resist, and boy I'm glad I did!! I'm in love with this powder. It gives the perfect glowy finish to my foundation, and it takes just a touch of the stuff so it will last forever!

Liquid -Cover Girl - Clean Makeup Oil Control
Elveanare 3/30/2007 8:46:00 AM
Well...I don't love it....but I don't really hate it either. I found it at my local dollar store, and for a dollar...it was too cheap to pass by. After trying it...the coverage isn't great, tends to settle in my pores, but if I carefully apply a few layers, I can get by that. As for oil control...I'm not really convinced....but it doesn't break me out, which is huge. Nearly everything breaks me out. Besides that, it deosn't have great lasting power, even if with a powder over it. I guess in the end, I will use up what I bought, but I'm not going to buy again.

Moisturizers -St. Ives - Cucumber & Elastin Eye & Face Stress Gel ] [DISCONTINUED]
Elveanare 3/30/2007 8:37:00 AM
okay, so maybe this product doesn't really do any permanent changes for wrinkles or really dark undereye circles, but what did you expect for a $3 treatment? Not to mention the container is huge enough to nearly last a life time! Its cool and refreshing, and does wonders for that 'I just crawled out of bed' look. Its lightly moisturizing--great if you have oily skin, and it does help get rid of the puffies. In genreal, its become a total staple for me! Its the first thing I put on when I get out of the shower every morning. :)

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Active Light Makeup SPF 25 ] [DISCONTINUED]

I've been using this stuff on and off for a while, and I rescently decided that I love it! When it came to just day to day stuff, it was okay, the coverage is light-medium if you build it a little, it doesn't agravate my over-active acne and it doesn't dry out my rather dry cheeks or make my occasional skin look even flakier than it is. Latley though, I started a new job as a CNA (puttinf myself through nursing school...), and after trying my wide away of makeup to see what will last through an entire shift of insanity...this stuff holds up the best. Its the only makeup I have that looks almost exactly the same when I take it off when I get home as it does when I put it on in the morning--and trust me, lasting from about 5am to 8pm...thats impressive.

Mascara -Almay - Intense i-Color Blue
Elveanare 3/26/2007 2:48:00 PM
I found this at my local dollar store as a whole package for the I-Color blue set, and the offer was just too good to refuse. Anyway, for the deal I'm pretty glad I did. I haven't had any issues with clumping or flaking. It seems to stay pretty well, and I have no trouble getting it off with my make-up remover. The color is a more subtle blue when its on, but I like that. Just enough blue to help my grey-blue eyes pop, but nothing too distracting. Over all, I think it was a pretty good buy.

Treatments -Nelson's Homeopathic Products - Acne Gel
Elveanare 1/3/2007 12:03:00 PM
On my never ending search for the HG solution to my acne I decided to give this a try. I've been using it on and off for the past few months, and while it hasn't been the answer to my problem, it has definatly helped. I tried using it as my only treatement, but it didn't really do anything for my mild-moderate acne. When I combined it with other products it when I really saw results. When used with a acne treatment cleanser, it steadily improved my skin. I tried taking out the Acne Gel for a while, but my skin got worse again. Now I use it in combination with a Benzoyl Peroxide cream, and my skin is doing even better. Like I said thogh, when I take out the Acne Gel it gets worse again! Over all I like the product's texture--its a clean gel that goes on easy and absorbs quickly. It does have a strong Tea Tree scent, but I find it refreshing, and it does go away after a bit. Maybe this product isn't perfect or my HG acne solution, but, it definatly helps me get and keep at least semi-clear skin!

Styling Products -Thermasilk - Shine & Shape Gel

I'm in love with this stuff. I have wavy, frizzy very poofy hair that I am always battling with, and I can work a squirt of this stuff in and it controls the frizz and de-poofs my hair. I use it on wet hair, whether I'm blow drying/straight iorning or just letting it air dry and I get soft, shiny, smooth hair!

Mascara -Max Factor - Stretch and Separate Waterproof Mascara
Elveanare 9/23/2006 7:47:00 PM
RIS - This was just to balance out a swap but I really like it. Its sort of the me-but-better look, nothing too legnthing or volumizing, but enhances what I have. I just do one swipe over each eye, and it doesn't clump too bad and says in place pretty well. It's been a great every day mascara!

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Eyebrightener, Natural Eyelight(powder)
Elveanare 9/23/2006 7:41:00 PM
I love this stuff. I have pink toned light skin, and small-ish blue eyes and this really helps to brighten up my face. It looks pretty natural on me, while it is a silvery-white I apply it with a large eyeshadow brush and it adds just a touch of brightness to my eyes. Really helps make me eyes looks bigger and brighter, and the stuff has lasted forever! I've had it more than a year and I've hardly made a dent in the dish!

Concealers -Almay - Clear Complexion Blemish Healing Spot Concealer
Elveanare 6/6/2006 10:58:00 PM
This concealer actually preformed better than I was expecting it to. With my acne flaring up again I wanted to get a concealer with some treatment power, even though I'm never sure how effective they are. I happened to have a $2 off for Almay makeup, so I decided to give this stuff a try and I'm pretty glad that I did. The coverage is a solid medium, but it seems to layer okay and it blends rather well. Its also reasonable long lasting. I do wish that the color choices were a bit better, it coems in only three shades and I'm somewhere between light and light/medium (the light I RIS because I wanted to see if that color fit me better), mainly because I find the light/medium too yellow for my pink toned skin. Also, I'm not compleatly convinved of any healing or controling of blemishes, but its SA stregnth is stronger than a number of the other blemish concealers out there. Final Verdict: I like it a lot, far more than I expected to, and unless I'm tempted by something new, or with a higher % of acne treatment, I will buy again.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
Elveanare 6/6/2006 8:14:00 PM
I found this one day at the local dollar store and vaguely remembering that it had many rave revies here I bought it that moment. Now, I wish it had been a that perfect product that made my skin perfect instantly, but sadly its not. I started using it once a week, and nights before exams while I was studying (I always break out due to exam stress). I didn't really think I was noticing much improvement, or nothing dramatic at least. but I was so good with this mask (impressive for me), once a week, sometimes twice for almsot two months, then after finals in my joy of freedom I stopped using it for a few weeks. It didn't him me until about week free than my skin had been getting progressivly worse, which seemed strange to me because I no longer had stress from college. Thats when I realized I hadn't been using my Min Julep. I guess it was doing more than I thought it was. Okay, now for the details on the mask, its rather grren, but dries lighter as someone already stated, and as it dries you can see spots for ever large pore (I assume oil and impurities its absorbing). It has a minty/slightly sulfur smell to it that doesn't really bother me, but I don't find trememdously appealing. Its pretty thick but spreads easily, though I have yet to had the trouble getting it out of the tube as other people have and I'm on my final thrid of the tube. I agree that it doesn't really wash off easily, but I find that with pleanty of rather warm water I don't need to use a washcloth to get it all off. Its pretty drying, but doesn't leave my skin feeling too tight. Sometimes it does sting a little bit when I put it on, but if I wait an hour or so after washing to put it on it doesn't bother me so much. Over all, I like it and since it seems to make my skin a bit happier, I will keep using it.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Star Perfection- Marilyn Monroe Face Powder
Elveanare 5/26/2006 2:46:00 PM
I think this is the first power I have actually used every bit of. I bought it because I liked this lightly shimmery finish with out looking like I had glitter all over my face, and the fact that it was a bit oil absorbing. Its a bit pricy for a drugstore powder, but it lasted me quite a while. I was okay wwith the packaging, not great but I didn't have any problems with it either. I just left it on my vanity though, so I didn't have the cracking problem some other people did. I used my own powder brush instead of the one it came with. The translucent shade was perfect for me, and didn't seem to add any sort of color --darker or lighter. I'm LLL with pink undertones so it seemed to fit me perfectly. It didn't break me out at all. I used it with out makeup just to even out my color and absorb shine and as a finishing powder over a liquid foundation and it worked great for both. I can't actually think of anything bad to say about this powder :)

Sunscreen -Hawaiian Tropic - Hawaiian Tropic Oil-Free Faces SPF 30, Sheer Reflections Formula [DISCONTINUED]
Elveanare 4/20/2006 11:14:00 PM
I started using the sunscreen about a month ago after deciding the warming tempratures and more itme outside meant I needed a higher spf. I have always struggled to find a sunscreen that wont break me out, but I haven't noticed any excessive break out since Is tarted using this. I love the pump backaging, especially because of its smaller head than a lot of pumps. Easier to have on my vanity and to fit into a bag when I travel. The sunscreen itself has a nice texture and goes on well. I have noticed a bit of sensativity to it if I apply it right after ceansing & toning, but it seems to be better if I wait a few minutes first. It absorbs pretty quickly, after just a few minutes of that skiny 'you just smeared somethig on your face' its gone. Also, it hasn't seemed to bother my makeup at all. There seems to be no complications for me when I wear my helmet (horseback riding), which is sometimes a concern with sweating an the rubbing. I also haven't noticed and stining or burning while exercising the horses, and it deson't seem to cause any extra sticking of the dirt I am surounded by in the barn. I'm a happy girl!
