Treatments -Christian Dior - Capture Totale One Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum

I got this as a sample when I purchased one of my usual Dior Skin Sculpting Powder compacts. I have tried a lot of products, and my skin tends to be a bit unusual so I was not really expecting much from this product. The woman at the Dior counter gave me several packets of the serum to try, so I was able to use it for about 2 full weeks--without changing anything else in my skincare regime. My skin has never looked better. The product does feel a bit sticky when you first rub it in, but this disappears almost immediately because it is so quickly absorbed into the skin. I noticed a definite improvement in my skin's texture almost immediately and after a couple of days of use, the few blemishes I had were almost completely gone. Not sure what it is in this stuff that makes it work so well, but I am impressed. Too bad it costs $100 a bottle...That is way beyond my budget for a serum, so I will keep on searching for something more affordable that works as well. So far I have not found it.
Cleansers -Bliss Labs - Fabulous Foaming Face Wash

This is a nice and gentle face wash (it foamed up pretty well for me). I was not looking for anything fancy, but wanted to try something different. It smells nice and it seemed to clean my skin very well. No adverse reactions so far... It is a little pricy, but really the bottle is pretty large, so it should last a long time. $25 for a nice face wash that lasts 6 months is not a bad deal. Probably best for normal skin. Might be a little drying. But my skin is normal to combination so it seemed to be just about right.
Eye Makeup Remover -Chanel - Precision Eye Makeup Remover

Well it works really well. It is a little oily, but it takes off my eye makeup in one swoop. But I just can't justify spending $30 for some eye makeup remover. This was kind of an impulse buy, and I don't think I will get it again. There has got to be something that works this well and is more affordable!
I asked the salesgirl in Trade Secret to recommend the best treatment for frizzy hair and she (and the stylist in the back) immediately pointed to this product. I was a bit skeptical at first, because I have tried soooo many different serums and all seem just mediocre. But this really did work. I have pretty thick, naturally wavy hair, and after shampooing and conditioning it normally, I just combed a little through the ends of my hair and let it air dry to see what it would do. About an hour later I was pretty shocked to see that my hair was really silky (not greasy) and looked really nice, considering I had done nothing with it. It really did calm down the frizz without making my hair heavy or oily. My only complaints are: 1. The spout on the bottle dispenses a LOT of the product at once if you are not careful and 2. It smells a little like rotten oranges *But it works so well those two factors will not deter me from re-purchasing it.
Lip Gloss -Neutrogena - Moisture Shine Gloss in Razzle

Looks nice in the bottle, but the color is a bit too transparent. It isn't sticky at all, which is good, but it smells and tastes kind of like those gross chewable vitamins. Would be so much better if if smelled good.
A lip scrub that is edible! This stuff is seriously cool and it works great. It's impossible to use a lip scrub without at least getting a tiny bit in your mouth and finally there is one that does not make you go "ick" It's a little pricey, but it is a really unique product, so I don't mind the splurge now and again.
Conditioner -Sexy Hair Concepts - Silky Sexy Hair Smoothing Conditioner

Does not smell like the shampoo---it worked ok, but it kind of smelled like fake bananas. There are a ton of conditioners that are less expensive that perform just as well.

Pressed Powders -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Sculpting Powder Makeup SPF 10
EllaK 11/13/2010 12:02:00 AM
Quite expensive, but went on like velvet. It made my skin feel (and look) smooth and silky with a healthy glow. I am very fair with a lot of pink in my skin and cool undertones. The lightest shade, beige praline, was a perfect match for my skin without making me look yellow or orange. I am not crazy about the brush that it comes with because the bristles are just a little coarse, but it works ok. I just keep another brush in my makeup bag.
I love this mascara. It makes my lashes look plump and long and does not flake off or give me dark circles under my eyes---even in high humidity. I have always had a hard time wearing mascara because it makes my eyes itch, but this one is very gentle.
This little bar of oatmeal soap has SAVED my skin! I don't really know what prompted me to buy it in the beginning, because it is cheap and does not look impressive---but it is fabulous! Before I started using this soap, I struggled with face washes and cleansers for a long time. I have never had horrible acne, but did get consistent breakouts usually in the chin area. I always assumed that my skin was oily and acne prone, so I used products for that skin type for years. The name on the package says "MOISTURIZING BAR" so I kind of thought it might make me break out even worse when I first used it, but that wasn't the case. I have always had sensitive and easily irritated skin, and my mother used to use the Aveeno oatmeal bath soak for me as a child and it always worked wonders so I just on impulse thought I would give this bar a try. Almost immediately my skin improved (within about 3 to 5 days) and I was pretty amazed. I have been using this as my facial cleanser for about 8 months now and my skin has never looked this good or stayed so consistently clear. One bar typically lasts me about 2 months. My only complaint is that it is a little messy to travel with because the bar gets a bit mushy.
Eyeliner -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Insider Eyeliner In Onyx

This is a great eye liner. A lot of products slick off of my lids, but this stays put nicely without being too hard to remove at the end of the day. I love the built in sharpener in the end too. Also, the pigment is deep and not irritating.

Shampoo -The Body Shop - Rainforest Radiance Shampoo

I really wanted to like this. I loved the smell in the store and that it was free from parabens and colorants. I was excited to try it out and they warned me in the shop that it did not lather as much as a shampoo with sulfates and other chemicals, so i was prepared for it to feel a little different. It did feel different. The texture of the shampoo was a bit slick and it did lather a little. However, when I massaged it through my hair it made my hair feel sticky and really tangled, instead of smooth and silky. The conditioner that goes with did nothing and made my hair feel a bit rubbery and did nothing to smooth out the tangles left by the shampoo. I even tried using it one more night just in case my hair had to "adjust" to it, but it was the same result.
