Cleansers -Bobbi Brown - Cleansing Oil
rated 1 of 5
Elisonia 1/1/2013 10:45:00 AM

A lot of my friends swear by this! They say it is simple to use, gets rid of all make up including eye makeup and leaves your skin feeling subtle. All of these things are true, it does get rid of all traces of makeup and breaks down foundation really well as well as takes away eye make up. But for me, along with those benefits also came tiny little spots and bumps all over my face and especially the cheeks, where I rarely break out. They were not quite pimples, but small fluid filled bumps. My skin looked dirty and so uneven, never had that before! I thought at first it was just my skin going worse before it goes better as the oil might be purifying my skin and purging out the badness. But after trying it again the same thing happened and I stay far far away from this cleanser. So odd as it works so feel for many others, but It left me looking like I had been attacked by tiny moles all over my skin who built hundreds of tiny molehills. Ew.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 1/1/2013 10:35:00 AM

My new HG mascara! Before discovering this I was pretty happy with my MaxFactor MasterpieceMax as It did the job of giving me long, full lashes. But that was until I met "They're Real". I'm not that easily pursueded by sales assistants, or at least I would like to think so, but the SA tried this on me when I went to buy lipgloss and she even applied it on top of my mascara I already had on and then showed me in the mirror. After examining my eyelashes I was like "Wow! Did I even have eyelashes before?", because the difference was so dramatic. This mascara is amazing! You use the brush first to coat the lashes and thicken them and then the little ball at the end to make them ridicolously long. I like my eyelashes really thick as well and this one is really buildsble. It does stay on well too and only downside is how hard it is to remove at night because it is so hard wearing. Everyone always asks me what mascara I use or if they are fake, to which I respond "no, they're real" ;) haha

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 1/1/2013 10:21:00 AM

This is great! First shimmer brick I bought as I felt it would be the most versatile. I love putting it on my cheekbones as a highlighter or spread over my collarbone in the evening. It gives such a nice pink/bege sheen when the light hits! Be careful though as a little goes a long way and applying it all over can make you look more sweaty and shiny rather than sparkly and fabulous! Take it from me (and pictures I saw of myself from Halloween). But applied sparingly and in the right places this is amazing! I plan to purchase more colours soon. They last a really long time as well, I had mine about a year. In the beginning if you drop them they do actually stay intact but when you're nearing the end and you drop it you are screwed and it is very hard to use it.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot rouge
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 1/1/2013 10:16:00 AM

One of my favourite products! It's one of those little saviours to keep in your handbag at all times so you are not stranded anywhere looking pale and lacklustre. A bit of blush always helps! And the fact that you can use it on your lips is really good as well. I find they have good pigment, spread well and a long staying power on the cheeks. On lips they give a nice sheer colour.I am blonde and fair and currently use Pale PInk or Calypso Coral, but the latter I prefer when I am a bit more tan. Their new and improved packaging has a handy mirror built in as well for easy application on the go. I always find if I have this in my purse after along day at work, I can add a bit of color and be ready to go out on the town!

BB Cream -Bobbi Brown - BB Cream SPF 35 PA+++
rated 4 of 5
Elisonia 1/1/2013 10:09:00 AM

After hearing all the hype about BB creams I decided to try this one. What attracted me to this one was the SPF 35 and that has slightly heavier coverage than others I have tried. I previously used the Garnier which I did like but I prefer this one. When it first came out I thought £28 was a lot for such s teeny tiny tube, but after using it I realise a lot goes a long way. I am really fair but bought a medium in it as I use it as a kind of tinted cream as well to add color and it is sheer enough to not look weird if it is darker than my skin. Packaging is pretty average, nothing to flaunt on your shelf when neighbours come around, but does the job! Just bought my second tube now!

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice 'n Easy Perfect 10
rated 4 of 5
Elisonia 1/4/2011 6:58:00 AM

I have naturally blonde hair as I am swedish but in the Winter the roots get a bit darker, not a lot but a little bit, and I want to lighten them up. I buy this in Lightest Blonde. This is perfect because it is so easy and it does not over bleach my hair but just lightens it enough to make the roots less noticeable and it always come out great. It is really good when I just do not want to shell out to go the hairdressers and also when I do I tend to think that they lighten it too much and it looks to harsh and almost like a helmet but this stuff is really good! Have bought again and again.

Primer/ Corrector -Skindinavia - Makeup Finishing Spray
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 10/21/2008 4:56:00 PM

So I got this in the post and I must have acidentally ordered two 6 oz bottles and I got a tiny 2 oz bottle too. I would recommend to get the 6 oz because it is better value and the other one is very tiny but it is good for keeping in my purse. Anyhow I got it in time for my first sleepover with a new guy I liked, hehe, and I wish I would look good in the morning but I just wanted to look my very best and I fell asleep in my make-up, I know....bad, but I think some girls know what I mean? Having put this on in the afternoon, I liked the feel of it, it made me look more dewey and I was so surprised to wake up after a whole night rubbing against the pillow and etc etc and the make-up was still there and I looked as good as the night before! Like OMG, what more can you ask for? Ive been using it everyday since then in every weather and it doesn't fail its task. It really keeps the makeup put. I am glad I did bought two bottles :)

Treatments -MD Formulations - Skin Perfecting Gel
rated 3 of 5
Elisonia 9/7/2008 8:49:00 AM

I am on the fence about this and if it really does something. My derma recomended this to me and I fell for it of course. I used it all over my face along with a MD cleanser for a while but it really didn't do much for me. Then it ended up in the cupboard, probably for a reason. Applying it on a pimple "FEELS" like it should work because it sort of stings, but does it? I think I need to try it again tonight to see what it does to a pimple, will update.

Foundations -Yves Saint Laurent - Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation
rated 1 of 5
Elisonia 9/7/2008 8:41:00 AM

Bleh! Is what I have to start off by saying. I really really wanted to like this! I had been contemplating getting it for a long while as I saw it in a magazine and I liked the idea that it had a built in foundation brush. I always wanted to try applying foundation with a brush and now that I needed a new foundation ( I always do as I never seem to find my perfect one, now I stick to MMU) so this seemed like a good match. First of all, it is really expensive so I must have been in a good mood. Second of all I don't like the smell. I prefer my foundation to not really smell att all, this smells...old..or something yucky. I didn't like how it looked on my skin, it didn't blend in at all and the color was not a good match, way to peachy for me. I got color (1) and it gave me really unsightly foundation lines. After a while I decided to give it a try again and even though I shaked it all that came out was this yucky colorless oil from it, no idea what that was. The brush is pretty useless too, you can't get it even with just the brush anyhow. So not worth the hefty amount I forked out, bleh!

Liquid -MAC - Select Tint SPF 15 ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
Elisonia 9/7/2008 8:34:00 AM

This wasn't what I wanted! Have to mention that this is not really a foundation but more like something that evens out the skin tone a bit for those fortunate enough blessed with good looking skin. It didn't give any coverage at all. I like Mac products and it's nothing wrong with the product, it just wasn't suited for me so I don't want people to be scared away, just buy it with the knowledge that it doesn't transform your skin from frumpy to flawless.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
Elisonia 9/6/2008 10:53:00 AM

So I sent after a 2 sample kits of this because of all the raves on here and because I can't find a color match with BE. I love the feel of MMU and that it eliminates the step of putting on powder. It really works well for my skin. First I have to say that they are very generous and the samples are great in little plastic containers. They arrived really fast which is good! But my excitement only went that far. I was on the fence about this for a while and when I tried the colors a bit here and there to see what color I was I liked how it look. But when I applied it to my whole face it didn't look good at all. It is really cakey looking and I can't seem to "buff" it into my skin. It just sort of sat on top of my skin unlike BE that goes creamy and more like a foundation, this felt really powdery. And I didn't really like any of the 8 colors I sent for or the 2 blushes. I didnt like the matte formula and the original glo made me feel like I was a disco ball becuase it was to glittery and not natural for an all over face color at all. It's more like a highligher or something. The Intensive wasn't good either, I couldn't really tell much difference between the matte one and the Intensive. The worst thing is the acne I have got along my jaw line after using it! I have had good skin for a while now using BE but now when autum is coming my BE foundation just doesn't match my skin anymore. I never get this kind of acne. It just didn't work well with my skin which is a pity cause I liked the price! But I will stick to BE now or try Alima!

Fragrances -Fendi - Palazzo
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 9/3/2008 3:33:00 AM

I was generously given 4 samples of this when I bought a scarf at Fendi and I have been looking for a perfume for a while now. Everytime I am at a perfume store I try to smell a few perfumes to find my "signature" scent, but in the end I just get a headache and none of them really makes me go "wow". This scent on the other hand is really me! I love it because it smells like no other and it's different in a exciting way.It makes me feel very confident and I feel as I just want people to get close and smell me! Haha. It stays with you in a good way and not in that horrible way as when someone with a too sweet perfume walks by. I keep smelling myself through the day because it smells so good and interesting. I think it also appeals to men as it is not that sweet scent but a more complex one. I will definitley buy when my samples are out.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Glycerin
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 8/18/2008 4:27:00 AM

Seriously, I have the worst looking feet for a 20 year old. I scrub and file them as often as I can but sitll the hard and roughness seems to sneak up on me. I bought these dense creams to put on that are supposed to make your feet change in a week. Well yeah they worked but they were expensive and the tube was so tiny the whole tube was gone in a weeks time and it didnt take long until my feet were back to elephant status. Anyhow I read on makeupalley (as always, thank you guys) about Glycerin. I went and bought a bottle and it is magic I tell you. You don't need a lot to put on your feet, so it lasts a small lifetime, and it litterally changed my feet in 3 nights wearing it. I love it! And the price is really good too. I also use it to put in my moisturizer when I need that little extra. :)

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Dickinson's Witch Hazel
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 7/26/2008 10:58:00 AM

This stuff lasts so long and does wonders! I must admit, the smell is not my favorite smell. It reminds me of alcohol and BO and whenever I use it and I am hungover it makes me want to throw up (sorry)! Then why do I give it a 5? Because for the price it does everything and more. I use it after I cleansed my face and neck all over on a cottonball. It is better than a toner, it makes my skin feel completely refreshed and tight and it completely get's rid of any make-up residue. The smell isn't really bad, only just when you put it on, and I can live with that! My pores are smaller and I am not breaking out as much, though I don't know if thats just because of this or other products too. But anyhow this is now a vital step in my regimen. The good thing about it is that it doesn't dry out my face like other toners I used (clinique etc.) Sometimes I wipe my face during the day or when my face is "clean" and you can still see how much dirt comes from the skin and that's in the air (I live in London), and this get's rid of it. I love how natural it is only containing simple ingredients that you and I can understand. No harsh chemicals and it leaves the skin glowing, what more can I ask for? HG!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
rated 5 of 5
Elisonia 7/11/2008 7:29:00 AM

This is magic! I decided to fall for the rave about this product both on here and on You Tube so I went and forked out the really hefty amount for this brush! It was totally worth it! Even my cheapest foundations go on like a dream now and my skin never looked this good! I used it with my mac fx (im N25) and I looked in the mirror and thought to myself "I never looked this good"! It just looked like my own skin and not a mask of product. And I do owe it to the brush because it somehow worked in the foundation better than I could with my fingers, because I tried that too! Now I use it for my bronzer, blush, foundation, powder, highlighter. It works well for blending too. LOVE LOVE LOVE! I will never apply foundation without this now. It's so easy too and cuts down the applying time in half. And a girl sometimes needs a half.
