Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Temptations Twisted Peppermint body lotion
DyingMessenger 12/27/2012 1:27:00 AM
I hate everything about this lotion. I smelled it in the store and thought it smelled fantastic as I adore mint, but a while after I bought it I found that the peppermint scent of it smelled very cheap and has an underlying tone to it that I don't like. The formula of this particular lotion is different than the others (maybe it's just mine?). It feels almost oily and almost like Mayonnaise to me and it seems like it doesn't want to absorb into my skin. I do not have this problem with any other BBW lotions, just this one.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Strawberry Sorbet
DyingMessenger 12/27/2012 1:22:00 AM
This isn't the best lip balm I have ever used but it serves its purpose for moisturizing the lips. This is the first one of these that I have tried so maybe they aren't all like the Strawberry Sorbet one. I find it difficult to get more than a thin layer of the product on my lips and for someone with chronically dry lips, that isn't the greatest thing because it means having to reapply it more often. It does however smell very good and the packaging is cute, though a bit impractical as I believe it would be difficult to get the remaining product out of the base without having to use your fingers. The round shape also would prove troublesome if you decided to put it in your purse; it would be clunky and odd in the bag.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri Jumpin' Jade

Pros: Wider brush lays polish more evenly. Thicker polish, only needs one good coat. Dries very quickly. Very chip resistant. Cons: Stains the nails (in my experience).

This polish is absolutely stunning in the bottle and on the nails! It covers very well and smoothly with only two coats and is very resistant to chipping.

I honestly don't care for this polish too much. The color is WONDERFUL, being a darker periwinkle blue with copper sparkle in it. The polish goes on well, but I found that it chipped incredibly quickly even with a base/top coat.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst lipstick in Lilac 001
DyingMessenger 7/12/2012 3:27:00 PM
A beautiful darker pink color with a hint of purple makes this a very unique lipstick. I bought this at Big Lots for $2 on a whim because I really liked the color and I was pleasantly surprised with how wonderful it is. Where this color may not work on everyone, it is worth a try if you find it cheap somewhere, or even in a different shade. It is wonderfully creamy and does not dry the lips out like so many other lipsticks. Thumbs up!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength Silver Anniversary

Very gorgeous silver/pearl color that has a long no-chip life. It is very shear however and you may need, depending on your likes, 3-4 coats to get it close to bottle color.

Eye Shadow -New York Color - City Duet - SoHo Spice
DyingMessenger 5/22/2012 6:16:00 PM
This is a so-so highlight/contouring eyeshadow duo. It has a light peach highlight which is decent as an all over the lid color and a dark coco/coffee brown contouring shade. The light peach shade is horrible. It barely shows up and I notice that it doesn't stay very long. The dark coco brown color is much more pigmented and is the entire reason I bought the duo in the first place, however it is the same in the fact that after a while it just disappears and looks like you've put nothing on your eyes at all. Also, I find that the eye shadows are very chalky and have quite a bit of fallout so watch out for that. If you're looking for a decent brown color for quick trips out to the store or wherever, this is a great duo for that because it gives a wonderfully natural look with minimal effort as the colors DO blend very well and also don't last long so they're OK for fast trips out, but this isn't something that you'd want to consider wearing out for a long day/evening.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Bouncy Blush in Rose Petal
DyingMessenger 5/22/2012 6:02:00 PM
I can't ever tell if I like this blush or if I don't...I really like the formula of it, but it is so sheer that I'm hard pressed to find the color on my face after I've applied it. I have not tried any of the other blushes in the Dream Bouncy line, so maybe it is just this particular blush, but stay away from it because it honestly doesn't do anything.

Blush -Maybelline - fit me blush/medium pink
DyingMessenger 5/22/2012 6:00:00 PM
-Sigh- I REALLY wanted to love this blush, but it's hard. The color is absolutely amazing in the pan, but little to none shows up on your cheeks, no matter how hard you push your brush into the blush or how much you manage to build it up. You have to be a very fair skinned person to wear it I think and I AM fair skinned and it seems like I have to be even paler to get use out of it. I have not tried any of the other blushes in the FIT me! line but please, stay away from this one, it is not worth it.

Polishes -Revlon - Black With Envy

A dark charcoal gray polish with undertones of light gray, blue and green which all come out beautifully in sunlight. Goes on beautifully with two coats and is fairly chip resistant for several days. Can't go wrong with this Revlon nail polish ;)

Lips -Nivea - A Kiss of Milk and Honey
DyingMessenger 4/18/2012 2:48:00 PM
I am both pleased and displeased with this product. --Pros: 1) I really like the tube/packaging. It is very easy to twist, and goes back in easily. I love how simple it is to see how much of the product is left. There's no guessing like with the general chap-stick tube where, when you get to the end you're like "Oops! I'm out of chap-stick!!" 2) This product goes on very smoothly and stays smooth for quite some time afterwards. 3) It smells quite good. I wouldn't say like "milk and honey" but it does have a sweet, pleasant scent. --Cons: 1) I don't feel like it moisturizes very well, when the packaging says it "seals in moisture". I have very dry lips and I don't notice it doing much. Maybe MY lips just soak it up very quickly, but I'm not sure. Yes it stays on the lips and keeps them smooth, but after a while, I notice that it seems to almost disappear and you'll need to apply more. 2) Though it smells nice, it doesn't taste nice. It has a slightly bitter taste.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Crystal Water
DyingMessenger 4/15/2012 1:29:00 AM
This clear gloss has faint purple and blue shimmer inside and comes out very lightly on the lips, just enough to give a wonderful "glow" in the light, however you really have to look for the purple and blue shimmer when it's on your lips. The gloss is not at all sticky and feels like a chap stick and eventually dries a little, but never gets tacky. However, I feel like this is just a plain clear gloss, you could get away with buying a normal Revlon clear gloss product.

Eye Shadow -Max Factor - Smooth Sailing
DyingMessenger 4/1/2012 4:08:00 PM
In this small 3 color quad, you have a light blue-ish gray, a bright blue and a navy blue color and you can use them either wet or dry. Personally, I dislike these eye shadows for several reasons. 1) Poor color pay-off. When swatched onto the hand with fingers, the color is OK, but not great. The only color that amounts to anything is the navy blue. The light blue/gray and the bright blue totally disappear, though they all fade when blended. 2) Forget about using brushes with these shadows. They do NOT pick up the color. You would wreck your brushes before you'd pick up any color from these shadows. 3) If somehow you manage to get some product onto your eyelid, it does not last, but fades very quickly after application. 4) Does not work wet and works poorly dry.
