Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Tenderheart
rated 5 of 5
Dreamy 5/28/2009 12:21:00 AM

The only lipstick that I've worn since I was 15 - and 10 years later I still use it. It's a perfect warm neutral a few shades darker than my natural lip colour, so it looks like my lips, but better. The texture is moisturizing and silky, and gives a soft but natural shine. It doesn't last through meals, but it's not meant to. Highly recommended!

Lip Gloss -GOSH - Cool Lip Jam
rated 5 of 5
Dreamy 5/28/2009 12:15:00 AM

I stumbled upon this lip gloss at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada, retailing for $15 CDN. I bought it in 104, in a gorgeously warm and shimmery peach shade that I haven't been able to find in other brands. I like using this when I'm doing a smoky or colourful eye, in place of the more obvious choice of a non-shimmery neutral nude lip. After it goes on the lips, it is true to its name - it feels cool because of menthol (so if you don't like menthol, you probably should test this out before deciding to buy it). The cooling sensation doesn't last long. However, the lasting power of the colour and shine of the gloss itself LASTS and LASTS! Even through meals. It's comparable to the staying power and stickiness of MAC Lipglasses - my hair sticks to it - except Lip Jam is more moisturizing. All in all, I can't wait to try more shades of Lip Jam - I hope they come up with some dark/warm neutrals, because the other shades don't really appeal to me. However, the blue Lip Jam looks neat - supposed to make the teeth more white.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - 3-in-1 Double Rich Hot Cocoa
rated 4 of 5
Dreamy 1/10/2009 8:08:00 PM

Mmmm....CHOCOLATE! I adore this scent - it smells exactly like rich, hot cocoa to me. It satisfied my chocolate craving without me eating chocolate - it's that's good! It's a perfect winter body wash, just like the Pumpkin Spice one, because it smells warm, inviting, and comforting. But just like my review of the Pumpkin Spice 3-in-1, I won't give this 5 lippies because it doesn't moisturize (I much prefer Dove's creamy body washes for that). The smell also doesn't linger on my skin, but I like that because that means I can put on other scents without worrying about it smelling like, say, flowers and chocolate (ew).

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Intensive Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
Dreamy 1/10/2009 7:53:00 PM

I've been using this product now for about three weeks, after using (and liking) the Anti-Wrinkle SPF 15 day cream with Retinol. I love this stuff! The texture of my skin has improved a lot from this night cream and the day cream - it's very soft and smooth now, and more even-toned. Marks from old acne are fading very quickly, more so than if I had left them alone. The cream is not that moisturizing though, so after applying it, my skin feels doesn't feel like it's been freshly hydrated, but it feels like "normal" skin would, as in my cheeks feel soft (with the occasional dry patch) and my oily t-zone feels matt. If you're looking for moisturizer, this isn't the cream for you. I've had a pesky line an inch below one of my eyes for a few weeks from over dry skin (due to overuse of benzoyl peroxide). And for a few years, I've had a patch of skin on my left cheek that has noticeable pores and irritation - my dermatologist couldn't clear that up for me. Using regular moisturizer on these two areas didn't help them at all either, but a week or so of this night cream cleared both of these problems up for me.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
rated 5 of 5
Dreamy 1/6/2009 11:36:00 AM

I'm so happy that I finally discovered this amazing hand cream. I used to use Glysomed, which I really liked but it didn't seem to penetrate that well into my skin - there was always a film. But this cream does the trick! It sinks into my skin, leaving it soft but with no greasy residue. I also used it on my face when I went overboard with Benzoyl Peroxide (my skin was red, itchy, and VERY dry), and after a few days no more dry patches! My skin is baby smooth now. This is my new staple for those harsh Canadian winters!

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle SPF 15
rated 5 of 5

My skin tends to get acne around my period and when I'm stressed (hormones). So I wasn't sure if anything would help my skin without drying it up - I have a oily t-zone but dry cheeks. I decided to try this moisturizer based on the reviews, and I've been using it for a week. Already, despite my lack of sleep and bad eating habits of late, my complexion looks brighter, a lot of my acne is gone and going away, my t-zone is less oily, and my skin looks smoother. I use it every other day right now because otherwise it would be too drying on my cheeks, but I plan to use it every day once my skin gets used to it (it has retinol, which can be quite drying). So if you're looking for a LOT of moisture, this is definitely NOT for you. But if you're like me and looking for something to smooth and renew your skin without drying it, try this - a little bit at a time, and do it every 2 or 3 days, then every other day, then every day, and increase the amount if you want. Keep a very hydrating moisturizer at hand at the beginning first - like Eucerin's 5% Urea cream. My cheeks were a bit dry the first two times I used it, but with time my skin is getting used to it and is getting less and less dry. In fact, my cheeks feel really smooth now! I can't speak to any anti-wrinkle effects (it's too early to tell, and I'm 25 with no wrinkles except two faint lines under my eyes), but if I notice anything else I'll update! So far it's my HG :)

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Spectro Jel for Blemish-Prone Skin (Fragrance Free version)
rated 4 of 5
Dreamy 11/30/2008 12:57:00 PM

I've used this product for a number of years. I have very allergic and fussy skin, so I love using this because it's non-irritating. I find it especially effective for me in the summer - where it leaves my skin very soft, smooth, and in no need of moisturizer after. My skin feels very, very clean when I use it. However, I took off one lippie because in winter, it dries out my cheeks a bit (so I use some Eucerin afterwards). I've now switched to generic Cetaphil (Shoppers Drug Mart version) because I feel it's better for my skin in winter, followed by Neutrogena Alcohol-Free toner.

Toners -Neutrogena - Alcohol-Free Toner
rated 5 of 5
Dreamy 11/29/2008 4:46:00 AM

I have the oiliest T-zone, but the driest cheeks in the world that I have to use Eucerin on my cheeks after I wash my face...that is, until I met this toner! This toner has actually eliminated my need to use Eucerin on my face without making my t-zone feel overly oily. I also like how it's non-irritating on my skin and doesn't have alcohol! Not too many price-friendly toners can attest to this fact. This may just be my HG of toners :)

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Schick - Quattro for Women
rated 4 of 5
Dreamy 11/27/2008 2:42:00 PM

I really like this razor because it has never EVER cut me in the 3 years that I've used it. I've cut myself using the Gilette Venus when I haven't been careful or in a hurry. So if you're in a hurry. the Quattro is a great razor to use because it's almost impossible to cut yourself on it due to the wires that wrap the razor blades - even around tricky parts like the back of your knee. The only reason why I wouldn't give it a 5 is because of the wires as well, which prevent a very, very close shave that you would get with a razor that doesn't have wires, like the Venus.

Treatments (Eye) -Marcelle - Gentle makeup remover for sensitive eyes
rated 4 of 5
Dreamy 11/27/2008 3:22:00 AM

It gets off every trace of waterproof mascara gently, with very few lost lashes, even for toughies such as CoverGirl Lash Blast, and with little irritation to my eyes. I've gone through about 3 bottles so far. I'm trying to repurchase but I can't seem to find it anywhere right now! So sad. A sales rep told me that sales from this makeup remover make up over half of their makeup sales! It's that popular. The only thing I don't like is that if I get the remover in my eyes, my eyes get a little foggy temporarily from the oil. Oh and it doesn't travel that well - be sure to store it in a separate plastic bag because it will leak. But it's the best and cheapest eyemakeup remover I've used so far for removing waterproof eyemakeup hassle-free.

Fragrances -Prada - Prada EDT
rated 1 of 5
Dreamy 11/27/2008 3:08:00 AM

Very sad to say that this perfume smells AWFUL on my skin. Moments after it's sprayed onto my skin, there is an awful synthetic note and then it smells like body odour :( And that note lasts all day! I had to scrub it off. It's one of the worst-smelling perfumes on me EVER.

Lotions/ Creams -St. Ives - Collagen/Elastin Lotion
rated 3 of 5
Dreamy 11/27/2008 3:04:00 AM

It's a decent moisturizer, but nothing special for me. My legs get really dry in winter, and the lotion helps a bit, but to me it's still not as good as Olay's Quench for Extra Dry skin. The fragrance is nice, and keeps the rest of my skin besides my legs "not dry", and my arms very silky smooth and soft, but I think I'll stick with Quench which works on all parts of my body.

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose
rated 4 of 5
Dreamy 11/27/2008 2:57:00 AM

This product really works on my nose. When the strips are used correctly, they work. You gotta position it carefully, press the sticky part in place (I find it helps to start in the centre of your nose and smooth it out over your nostrils so it follows all the contours of your nose) and use damp fingers to press over the cloth part if you find it's not sticking enough to your nose. Add water to the sticky part only as needed - not too much otherwise it'll rub away the adhesive. I don't use it too often because it makes the skin on my nose red a bit (you're basically pulling off a layer of skin from your nose) for at least a few hours (I have very sensitive skin) and it can sometimes hurt pulling it off. Rinsing my nose with cool water after the fact helps a lot with the slight pain and redness. The effect is worth it though - look ma, clear pores!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
rated 2 of 5
Dreamy 11/27/2008 2:38:00 AM

I was lucky to get a free sample of the SPF 15 Foundation in Light, because after my experience I would not buy it. While it made my skin look matte and even-toned (in the midst of pre-period breakouts), it tended to dull my skin quite a bit, cake up, and also made it a bit itchy. To add insult to injury, it settled into the very fine lines in my forehead (and I mean VERY FINE - I'm 25 but I get mistaken for being 16-17 all the time, and with other face powders I don't have this problem) making my skin look very, very old. About the itching: I discovered later the foundation has bismuth in it, to which many people react badly (breakouts, itching, etc). My allergic reaction was mild, thankfully. I've now ordered Everyday Minerals, which is bismuth-free, so hopefully that works out better!

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Lip Conditioner DCP SPF 16
rated 5 of 5
Dreamy 11/22/2008 5:09:00 PM

I am on my 5th tub of this, and I LOVE it. It's my HG lip balm - keeps my lips smooth, supple and moisturized, which I find incredibly important in Canada now that winter is here. It has a wonderful initial cooling sensation too, due to the menthol. Also, the price can't be beat - I usually get it for around $3 CDN.
