Blush -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush
Dream24 4/21/2013 8:21:00 PM
I picked up the Pure 22 blush a few years back at Target in the US. The blush colour is kind of a peachy pink and dusty pink colour. I love this blush. It comes with it's own brush, which is not the best but it works alright. This colour works nicely on my Asian colouring, I have kind of a light to medium colouring. The blush is sheer but totally build-able. It has some shimmer to it, but not so much that it looks like your face is shiny. After you apply this blush, it looks natural and feels natural. I have received compliments about my colouring and I attribute it to my blush (especially during the winter season). Plus it is relatively inexpensive and worthwhile for a drugstore brand. The only downside is there's no mirror, but it's such a minor thing that it doesn't take away from this product at all.
Treatments (Eye) -Sephora - Sephora Age Defy Eye Cream
Dream24 4/1/2013 1:10:00 PM
I was in the market for a hydrating eye cream and was recommended this by the Beauty Adviser. The consistency of the eye cream is fairly firm and lotion like, with a not very noticeable scent. Pro: it does moisturize my eyes, comes in a pump applicator and absorbs fairly quickly Cons: only used it for 1 week before I noticed that the cream was becoming super greasy and very heavy on my eyes, there were mornings where I saw waxy flakes of the cream on my lids (I only use the tiniest amount and it still happens), doesn't stay when I put my makeup over it and does nothing else as claimed on the packaging. Overall, if your eye area is super dry, you might want to give this a shot to help moisturize it (and nothing else). Otherwise, stay away from this eye cream because it is not worth the price tag or the grease.
I first spotted this adorable perfume at Sephora and fell in love with it. And the perfume itself just increased my love for it. First, the packaging is adorable. The bottle has butterflies on it, that look like ladybugs, and black polka dots. The red, and black bottle really makes it stand out amongst all the other perfumes out there. Second, the scent is mild, fresh and not over powering. It has a fruity scent, sort of reminds me melons. The notes in the perfume are Red Berries, Dragonfruit, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Coconut Water, Orange Blossom, Vanilla, Driftwood, Musk. I am extremely sensitive to smells, but this perfume doesn't bother me at all. It is light enough for every day use. My only issue is that the scent sort of fades after a few hours but other than that it is one of my favourite perfume. This is definitely another hit for Marc Jacobs.
Since my favourite moisturizer was discontinued, I have been searching for a new moisturizer for a long time. Sadly this was not the product for me. I like how this moisturizer leaves my skin smooth, the package is easy to use, the formula absorbs into my skin quickly and does not cause any irritation or breakouts to occur (my skin is extremely sensitive and can be oily and dry at the same time). It is also lightly scented. This is formula is definitely lighter compared to the regular formula. A decent price for a drug store brand. Unfortunately, although this moisturizer claims to be "light", it is a little bit heavy and oily to use on a daily basis during the summer months. And the packaging leaves some room for improvement, as it is difficult to get out the moisturizer when reaching the end. Overall, this moisturizer is a decent product, but it is not the product for me.
Eye Makeup Remover -Marcelle - Oil-Free Eye Make-up Remover Lotion
Dream24 10/3/2012 5:13:00 PM
I had high hopes for this makeup remover, but sadly it disappointed me. It's certainly not the worst drug store makeup remover out there, but it is also not the best. When I first purchased this product, it worked like a dream. However, suddenly it started irritating my eyes and what not. The word lotion is very misleading as the makeup remover has a watery consistency as oppose to a cream/gel consistency. It does live up to it's claim of not being greasy or oily. It does remove a portion of my eye makeup (pour a bit on a cotton pad, hold it over my eye for a few seconds and then wipe). The price was inexpensive (with $3 off coupon and it was on sale). The bottle says it is fragrance free, although there is a light scent to it and I am fine with it (as it is not overwhelming or smells like chemicals). And mine came in fairly large sized bottle (200 ml, that's a bonus 50ml compared to the usual bottle according to my bottle). Unfortunately, the makeup remover is not gentle on my eyes at all because it tugs out my eyelashes. It does not effectively remove all traces of my mascara and eyeshadow (with primer) in one go. It irritates my eyes slightly, so I have to wipe my eyes afterwards with a tissue paper, but even then the irritation remains. The packaging is horrible, because you either pour too much or not enough onto the cotton pad (I thought I had seen a flip top but mine didn't come with it). I seriously question how Marcelle is able to claim to be the "No.1 Eye Make-up Remover Brand in Canada" (it's on a sticker on my bottle).
This is my HG! I have used this for 1.5 years and bought this concealer 3-4 times. Definitely highly recommended. The concealer is easy to use, I just dab the concealer on my acne and blemishes and blend away using my pinky finger. It generally lasts for 6+ months (3 clicks each time, 4 clicks when it's nearing the end). I use this all year round, it is not too heavy or oily to use during the summer months and lasts all day. I have extremely sensitive skin, that is dry and oil in various places (especially in the T-zone area), and I am happy to report that I have never broken out while using this concealer. This concealer comes in a variety of colours (I believe 6-8 options), and is relatively inexpensive. At Wal-Mart Canada it's around $10+, at SDM it's around $13.99 (when it's not on sale).
Like everyone else, I received the nail polishes as part of Julep's 1 cent promotion. I got the "American Beauty" collection, it came with "Glenn", "Oscar" and a cuticle oil. Glenn - I absolutely love the colour (a gorgeous berry red) as it was vibrant and had just the right amount of glimmer after just 1 coat and the formula was a good consistency. However, the polish on my hands begin to chip not even a day and after applying it (base coat and top coat), the nail polish brush sort of stuck together when I try to apply it on my other hand (making the polish clump and bubble). I had "Glenn" sent to me twice because both times more than half the bottle leaked out, leading me to believe that there's an issue with the bottle itself (I had reported it to Julep). Oscar - I like the glitter and shine in the bottle. However, after I applied it, it did not really stand out like "Glenn" did and it just reminds me of the glitter glue that children use in their art (meaning it's not worth the full price of the product). The upside is that it appears that the nail polish lasts longer and didn't chip like "Glenn" did, although it may have been hard to tell. Formula was an alright consistency, a little runny/watery than some other nail polishes. Overall, not a bad product to try for 1 cent, but I would not be purchasing this product again given its price tag and product quality.
Treatments -L'Occitane - Repairing Mask for Dry and Damaged Hair/ Shine Mask
Dream24 4/1/2012 1:35:00 PM
I had received a small sample of this product and thought I would give it a try. I love how smooth and light the cream was. In the following days after I used this mask, I noticed how smooth and lush my hair was. If my hair ever needed intense repair I would definitely buy this product. However, I am not a huge fan of the smell.
Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Effacil eye make-up remover
Dream24 2/26/2012 8:44:00 PM
Technically this is my mom's makeup remover and I just borrow it whenever I am home. From the times that I have used it, I find that I like this product. It removed my eye shadow and mascara very well without pulling on my eyelashes or leaving behind oil residues. It took an extra wipe or two but it did a pretty decent job of removing my gel eye liner. Aside from the price, I might considering getting this product for myself.
Eye Makeup Remover -Garnier - Fresh gentle eye makeup remover for sensitive eyes
Dream24 2/26/2012 8:40:00 PM
I have been using this product for a few weeks and so far its an alright product. It removes some of my eye make without a lot of tugging on my eyelashes, does not dry out my eye area and it has a nice scent. I do not like the packaging (changed the bottle so that it dispenses better), there is this oily residue on the bottle that I need to clean up on occasion and there are a few times that the makeup remover kind of irritates my eyes a little bit (I ended up blinking a lot or washing my eyes). I will continue to use this product and see if anything else happens. So for now I am giving it a 2.
Eye Makeup Remover -Maybelline - Expert Eyes 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover
Dream24 2/26/2012 8:26:00 PM
I bought this makeup remover at Wal-Mart for around $5. Overall, I didn't like this makeup remover. Yes it does remove some of my eye makeup but not all of my mascara (my mascara might be waterproof but it did say normal makeup remover would be able to remove it and other brands do work). It is definitely oil free (no washing required) and it did not irritate my sensitive eyes. Big down sides are the design of the bottle (I don't like how it dispenses, had to use my own bottle), doesn't entirely remove my eye makeup and that awful chemical smell. This eye makeup remover might work for some but it did not work for me.
Eye Shadow -Revlon - Illuminance Creme Shadow Quad - Va Va Va Bloom
Dream24 10/26/2011 10:23:00 PM
This was the first creme eye shadow I bought. I feel in love with the colours and had to buy it. Pros: rich pigment colours, smooth texture, easy to apply, great to use at night or during the day (for me), just enough sparkle/glitter without it being over the top, works well as a highlighter. Cons: the shadow does come off a bit without a base/primer. I will absolutely buy this quad again, best choice at a relatively cheap price. I might check out the other colour selections too.
Eye Makeup Remover -Quo - Gentle Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
Dream24 10/26/2011 10:01:00 PM
I picked up this eye makeup remover by random chance. It was $10 at SDM, the bottle lasted me about 6 months. Pros: I like the scent, doesn't sting when I accidentally get it in my eyes, the bottle was easy to use (I got the flip top bottle and it has never leaked on me), gentle but strong enough to remove my makeup (mind you I don't put on a lot of eyeliner or eye makeup) Cons: I found that on occasion it removed a few of my lashes, sometimes it took a few extra rubs to get out the tougher makeup. Overall, I liked this make-up remover. Would consider using again after I finish with my other make-up remover (which is working out horribly at the moment)
Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
Dream24 10/26/2011 9:52:00 PM
Personally, this product was not for me. The few times that I had used this product, I found that it left my eyes extremely oily and stung a bit, forcing me to wash my entire face. The bottle says that it is oil free but you can clearly see two layers once the product has settled. I admit, it does remove my makeup fairly well but as far as I am concerned, I am not a fan.
Lip Treatments -Aveeno - Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15
Dream24 10/22/2011 2:08:00 PM
I absolutely love this product and have been wanting to buy it again (currently have too much lip products to buy another one). Pros: love the smell, it is perfect for my dry lips, easy to twist out of the container, works well as a base (am able to put lip gloss on top) Cons: I wasn't able to reach the end of the tube as it wouldn't twist out any further and wasn't strong enough when my lips became extremely dry.
