Fragrances -Norma Kamali - Incense
Dragonfly00 3/22/2005 3:16:00 PM
WOW!!!! This is the fragrance of true Copal resin. I used to buy copal as lumps of resin and burn it on a charcoal briquettes or disks. You light the disk and set the copal resin on it and it releases a thick smoke that is a rich fragrant burnt pitch pine scent. This is incense of South America. Did a bit of research on the web and in simple terms here's what I found As incense, copal resin is even today sprinkled on live coals held in braziers, from which dense black clouds of aromatic smoke resembling dark storm clouds rise up as offerings to deities. Among the northern Lacandón Maya of lowland Chiapas in southern Mexico: the most common offering is copal incense (pom), which is made from the resin of the pitch pine (Pinus pseudostrobus). This is intense stuff and Norma kamalis use of it in her Incense perfume is no less intense. brings back wonderful memories of my younger days. If you love strong incense or strong pine scents, this is a must try. Not for for the feint of heart...not for everyone though, that's for sure!!!

Dragonfly00 11/24/2004 8:23:00 PM
Wow....soft green sandalwood & incense notes....a close to the skin scent that dries down to a a beautiful Mysore Sandalwood scent mixed with a touch of incense & a touch of amber. Slightly sweet almost vanilla mixed with the tiniest bit of coconut (probably the Mysore Sandalwood talking) and truly comforting. I agree with Dreamstorm below, it wears close to the skin the way Eclix does and there is something incredibly intimate about this scent. I think I would call it a bedroom scent. Oh I just realized...its similar to sage Pearl but slightly fuller, more noticable. Absolutely Full bottle worthy! Sold at the Barbara Bui Boutique in NYC 212-625-1938

Fragrances -Montale - Soleil de Capri
Dragonfly00 11/6/2004 10:15:00 AM
OK, this is one of my favorite Montales along with Chypre fruite SOD & a smattering of others. This reminds me of a tropical spritzer, orange, mango, peach, all lightened up with club soda and some white rum. Don't get me wrong....the fragrance does not have a rum accord, but there's a tropical feel to this scent that has me sitting poolside with drink in hand. As it dries down White florals and musk shine through, the musk helps it not float off into dreamland and keeps it going. I really like this scent. Very appealing indeed.

Fragrances -Montale - Powder Flowers
Dragonfly00 11/6/2004 10:06:00 AM
Powder flowers starts off with a touch of sharp citrus and lots of powder. As the initial burst dies down a cross between teint de neige & talco delicato is born and continiues for me to lean toward Talco Delicato as there is a slight soft citrus accord to the powder and possibly the tiniest hint of rose. All in all a nice fragrance and definitely a must try for powder lovers.....If I liked powder scents I would have said yes to purchasing again. However I am not a big powder fan.

Another plastic concoction from Montale. Apparently, I don't like their Rose scents very much. This is just a foul Rose mess on me. I do like some of their other scents but I don't seem to cotton to the ouds or Rose based Montales.

Fragrances -Clive Christian - 1872 for women
Dragonfly00 11/5/2004 1:19:00 PM
This is just beautiful. A soft clean light scent built on fruits and flowers. Very unassuming, subtle & close to the skin. I'd give it 5 lippies if it weren't so darn expensive. Rose de Mai Absolute, fresh sparkling bergamot from Italy, guaiacwood oil (bulnesia sarmienti) from Argentina and jasmine absolute (jasminium grandiflorum )

When I first put this on I thought somehow my samples had been switched and somehow I got Fresh Index Lucia. But my sample came from Aedes and they don't sell Fresh....definitely no mix-up here. Sin starts off with chocolate & orange and just the lightest touch of pepper. i'm thinking....wow I like this!! But alas, quickly the chocolate note drops away and the Vanilla & amber step up to the fore with a hint of a peachy orange in the background. It now smells like one of those creme candies.....sort of sweet and muddled. I so liked the opening notes but was quickly disappointed. Notes are:Blackcurrant, orange, amber and vanilla with waterlily, black pepper and coriander Sells at www.Aedes.com $95.00 for a 3.4 oz bottle

Fragrances -Montale - Royal Oud
Dragonfly00 11/5/2004 11:08:00 AM
Ok, This one started off smelling like plastic, like I was breathing inside a plastic bubble. Plus there's an off note like dirty feet...LOL that fades quickly. I smell the faintest bit of patchouli underneath although it is not listed as a note. Dry down is less painful and rather innocuous. This one is not for me. The box says its edp for men. Still not for my man...LOL Notes I could decipher are: Agrawood AKA Oud Wacapou wood - A tree that grows in French Guiana, Brazil Phillipines... Grapefruit Kumquat Indian Spices

Fragrances -Parfums d'Orsay - Intoxication d' Amour
Dragonfly00 10/30/2004 4:23:00 PM
Returned to this scent after a long absence and was shocked to find how similar this scent is to the dry down of Daim Blond. Daim Blond is a bit richer and fuller but truly Intoxication is a lighter thinner slightly floral Daim Blond cousin. If you like Daim Blond I would say give this a shot!

I really couldn't stand this fragrance it was so medicinal smelling and extremely masculine. But honestly, I wouldn't want to smell it on a man either!!! It has the sharpest notes on top of the almond. I wouldn't want to ever smell it again!!

Fragrances -Montale - Oud Damascus
Dragonfly00 10/15/2004 1:40:00 PM
This a soft Damascus rose scent combined with Oud. it was not as offensive as the Oud Queen Rose, but there is a bothersome note that I often find in Jasmine fragrances that makes me feel as though I've breathed in ashes. There is also a slight medicinal quality that seems to prevail in many of the Montale scents that takes quite a while to burn off. The end result is pleasant but not a keeper in my book.

Fragrances -Montale - Patchouli Leaves
Dragonfly00 10/15/2004 1:23:00 PM
This is for the true patchouli lover as it was almost a pure rather raw smelling patchouli. I like patchouli a bit rounder and softer. This was just a bit too funky and old smelling, not dank but a bit musty. No, this was not the patchouli for me.

Fragrances -Les Nereides - Patchouli Antique
Dragonfly00 10/15/2004 1:14:00 PM
Les Nereides Patchouli Antique stays true to the Nereides line as a close to the skin scent. This patchouli is subtle, soft and just a tad sweetened with vanilla. It is one of the softest patchoulis I have ever smelled and is similar in composition to Mazzolari Patchouli. Notes are: Indonesian Patchouli, Vanilla & Musk. This Les nereides can be purchased at First-in-fragrance for 39,00 euros

Fragrances -Lorenzo Villoresi - Ambra
Dragonfly00 10/15/2004 12:58:00 PM
LV Ambra is a dry slighty powdery Amber with light spicy notes. A pleasant light Amber with a twist. Not at all sweet with the lightest touch of citrus and soft spicy notes of pepper, nutmeg & cardamom. A very pleasant Amber and has a similar quality to it as the nereides line. Wears very close to the skin, Not a loud sweet amber more of a skin scent ~ Very nice. This is a discontinued scent and hard to get. First-in-fragrance carries it. Head note: Tangerine, Galbanum, Cardamom, Bergamot Heart note: Juniper, Nutmeg, Pepper, Clove Basis note: Ambra, Incense, Myrrhe, Cedar, Sandalwood
