Candles -Bath and Body Works - Twisted Peppermint
DollFace0011 1/11/2011 7:52:00 AM
PURCHASED AT: Bath and Body Works PRICE: 2 for $20 Sale (14.5 oz) This is the WORST candle I have ever had in MY LIFE! The product description states that this is, “a refreshing mix of spearmint and mandarin, layered with iced peppermint, vanilla extract and sugar musk.” -4” wide x 3 ½” tall -burns 40-65 hrs -highly fragrant candle -made with high concentration of oils and blend of vegetable wax and lead free wicks SMELL: I am very fond of anything minty adore peppermint. I tried this out at BBW and at first sniff it was quite enjoyable. I would sniff the other candles but always came back to this one. It was between this and another scent my bf wanted Eucalyptus I think. Oh how I wish I had let him choose. Obviously I won and lost with that choice. I was so excited went home and lit it and thought “what is that god awful smell?” Was there a rotting carcass in my house? I read a review on the BBW website and this reviewer stated that this smells like charcoal lighter fluid and I couldn’t agree more. I don’t know if I’m just sensitive to smell or what, but this smell gives me terrible migraines. The smell is so overwhelming that every time I smell this candle or even remnants of it I feel nauseous. :Bleh: The worst thing about this is that now my bf seems to have become fond of this smell. Now every time I come home the whole house is enveloped in this cloud of nauseating smell. I have never wished a candle burn faster in my life. I was thinking of giving it away to charity but I that’s just cruel. PACKAGING: Is nothing fancy, A big glass tub with a silver lid with three candle wicks. The majority of the candles are all white but a few have different colors. All of the candles have the standard large printed logo in colorful inviting images. BUY AGAIN: I would definitely not! I’ve actually had better experiences with cheaper candle lines. Good Lord even the candles I have bought from Wal-mart and the incense from the dollar store smells better than this! I think I will stay away from the candle line, especially if it’s made by the Slatkin Co. RECOMMEND: I would not recommend this to people who are sensitive to smell, have migraines, or don’t like overwhelming scents. For people insistent on trying the line I would recommend buying the mini candles before trying the large ones. I think this is a good candle for people who like strong scents. But I think you can get cheaper and better quality products elsewhere.

Candles -Bath and Body Works - Japanese Cherry Blossom
DollFace0011 1/11/2011 6:35:00 AM
PURCHASED AT: Bath and Body Works PRICE: 2 for $20 Sale (14.5 oz) I have had and do own many things from bath and body, especially from the JCB (Japanese Cherry Blossom) line. I’ve always had a good experience and decided to venture out and try their candle line. The description for this candle stated it’s an “exotic fragrance a sensuous blend of Japanese cherry blossom, vanilla rice, oriental woods and delicate mimosa petals.” -4” wide x 3 ½” tall -burns 40-65 hrs -highly fragrant candle -made with high concentration of oils and blend of vegetable wax and lead free wicks SCENT: Upon first sniff I got a slight smell of JCB. It wasn’t too over-powering it was actually a very nice but weak scent. I was actually worried that the scent wouldn’t be strong enough. Upon arriving home and lighting the candle I found there was no fragrance of the JCB I was used to. Instead it was a synthetic smell, nothing similar to JCB at all. It is a very fragrant candle; it’s just not the kind of fragrance that’s enjoyable. PACKAGING: Is nothing fancy, a big glass tub with a silver lid with three candle wicks. The majority of the candles are all white but a few have different colors. All of the candles have the standard large printed logo in colorful inviting images. BUY AGAIN: No. I was not impressed with the JCB candle. The scent was not at all what I imagined it to be. This just sits in my bathroom, and I only light it when I’m cleaning. That way with the mix of chemicals I really don’t smell it. Thankfully its almost burned out. . RECOMMEND: It’s a decent gift or stocking stuffer to give. Especially to people you don’t like (I gave one to my mother in law-Lol). But there are better quality candles out there for cheaper. I would recommend the wallflowers line. I bought the JCB in line and had a very soft inviting smell. Sadly it just didn’t last as long as I would have liked.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Luxurious Color Eyeshadow - Peacock Lustre
DollFace0011 1/7/2011 5:26:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Drugstores (WM) PRICE: $4+ FIRST IMPRESSION: This color caught my eye at the drugstore. I loved the name and how the color looked in the pan. I wanted to get more colors but thought I would test this out first. Glad I did. COLOR: Beautiful teal/ blue that in pictures and pan shows sparkle. I have found that sparkles don’t show up when wearing this shade packed on. Rather the sparkles may just add to the sheen, glossy, pearlized effect that gives the color more dimension. But when it is blended out then all you see is a light sheer blue shade with sparkles. (I have used this to create a peacock look. I use a really good primer and purple on my lid with black on the crease and the blue blended out. Though all the colors together were beautiful, I found I had to keep packing on the color to get a more dramatic true teal/ blue for that peacock look.) TEXTURE: I find that this shadow is soft. So it’s fairly easy to blend but becomes sheer and loses its beautiful teal/blue as you do so. I find it doesn’t blend into other shadows while keeping its color like you would usually find in most e/s rather it loses its color altogether and all you see is light sheer blue. So you continuous have to pack on the color. QUALITY: Could be better. It’s like “what you see isn’t always what you get” since in the pan the color is eye catching but lacks luster. BUY AGAIN: No, only because I bought this over a year ago and use it on and off so there is so much product left. Also though I find the color gorgeous there are better quality e/s.

Fragrance -Ralph Lauren - Polo Blue
DollFace0011 1/7/2011 4:27:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Department Stores, Malls, Online…etc. PRICE: 50+ There is just something about Polo Blue that reminds me of something so familiar and exotic at the same time. Honestly the smell is ORGASMIC. Whenever my bf wears this I literally melt. It’s just so intoxicating, alluring, and sensual that I will literally follow him around and lay on his chest just so I can smell his neck and be enveloped in Blue. I just smile thinking about it :sigh: :) J’ADORE 1. NOTES: Top Notes: Melon de Cavaillon, Watery Melon, Fresh Cucumber, Tangerine Middle Notes: Basil, Clary Sage Absolute, Geranium Base Notes: Washed Suede, Velvety Moss, Amber Wood, Patchouli Coeur, Sheer Musk 2. SMELL: Though the top notes are from fruit. I don’t find this cologne to be fruity at all (Yes cucumber is scientifically classified as fruit). Many people have stated it smells like Cucumber in a bottle-Lol. Or that it smells powdery, sweet, and is not impressive. Obviously I disagree since the body chemistry of an individual makes every fragrant unique, as one scent is intoxicating to one person someone else may find it rancid. The scent is clean but has an allure that pulls you in. This reminds me of an exotic vacation like being on a beach with turquoise waters with a tranquil state of mind. 3. RALPH LAUREN: Ralph Lauren makes phenomenal men’s cologne. My bf has had or does have almost everything in RL’s cologne line. He’s does a splendid job in layering all his colognes. I have found that the cologne’s in his line are not over powering scents but rather scents that compliment the individual. I also love that many men I know don’t wear BLUE so it makes it even more unique, unlike Aqua di Gio which I smell everywhere.

Skincare - Body -Suave - Apricot Exfoliating Body Wash
DollFace0011 1/7/2011 2:48:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Drugstores-WM (Wal-mart) PRICE: <$2 TEXTURE: This product has a brown/ peachy color with little beads throughout. Surprisingly the beads aren’t irritating or abrasive on my skin. SCENT: Usually apricot flavored/scented products smell rancid and nothing like an apricot would smell like. This has a light apricot smell not overpowering at all. BUY AGAIN: Yes RECOMMEND: Yes I do recommend this product and line. There is something for everyone. If you don’t like the smell of apricot there are nine other options from this line to choose from. Also you get 12 oz for under two dollars so why not give it a try.

Mascara -Flirt - Far Out Lengthening Mascara
DollFace0011 1/7/2011 2:37:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Kohl’s PRICE: $12 I first noticed this mascara in a magazine worn on a model during fashion week. She had these adorably gorgeous long doll eyelashes, and I was like “I have to have that.” I went hunting this mascara down and found it. I was so giddy to use this and be all dolled up. I put this mascara on and hated it, absolutely detested it. The brush was long and flimsy and instead of getting far out length and had spider lashes. Also I went out and it was just my luck that it started rain. I had black mascara running down my face like tears. Frustrated I threw it in my drawer and there it sat. A while later I saw it while rummaging through my things and thought, okay well I’m giving this another shot and was amazed I got the doll lashes I was yearning for the first time. J’ADORE BRUSH: It is long and has tiny little bristles. But the brush can be flimsy and it takes a while to get used to it. But I get amazing doll lashes. This reminds me of my Maybelline Lash Stylist that I adore so much. When using this mascara I take my time and start at the base of my eyelashes and stroke up. No need to do multiple coats like other mascaras, also multiple coats can make lashes look spidery. JE DETESTE/ DEAL-BREAKER FORMULA: I do wish it was waterproof. Since it's not waterproof I dont wear it as much as I do my MLS(lash stylist) since you can never determie the weather here and I dont want to go from doll eyes to racoon. Also there may be a learning curve to get used to the brush.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers
DollFace0011 1/6/2011 3:36:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Drug stores PRICE: 3.50+ I usually detest CG. I stopped using their products years ago because I found their color collection and payoff not suitable for darker skin. I tried different things in the line and found it insulting that I could not find a good shade even in e/s to compliment my skin tone. And I’m not even that dark I’m NW35, back when I was trying their line I was prob. NW30. So I tried out Maybelline’s Eye-studio Give me Gold and though I didn’t like the quad I was impressed with the gold/ copper shade in that quad so much that I wanted it in a single. So I searched the whole Maybelline line and all the other lines at the drugstore for a similar color. I finally found a similar shade in CG Eye-enhancers in Golden Sunrise. 1. TEXTURE: A light orange/ Very shimmery shadow. I think the name is also a good description of the color the product. Not a dupe for that gold/ coppery shade I was looking for. Alone this color was not really impressive. But when I used this color as a crease color on top of other darker colors and blended it out I found it stunning. This color also looks pretty wet. JE DETESTE: 1. PACKAGING: Cheap and flimsy like most drug store products. Tell me why that after I bought this product for $4 and then I found it at the Dollar Tree? Man. So even though it isn’t the best shade ever, I stocked up. Lol at a dollar a piece, why not? So after that I decided I’m checking out Dollar Tree first. I would not have re bought this product at $4 but for $1 it was worth it. But did this change my opinion on CG? Nope, still won’t be buying CG but out of all the shades I think this is a good shade to try out especially if you get it for a buck. If you’re on a budget or/ and new to makeup and want some good shades for cheap check out sally girl baked eye-shadow or the Maybelline line has great quality cheap shadows.

FIND IT AT: Drug stores J’ADORE: 1. PACKAGING: Sleek pencil look with the texture of cream but vibrancy of a shadow and same intensity as a liquid. Easy to use, if you can draw a line then you can use this. 2. COLORS: Very vibrant and rich. I own purple and emerald green and they are fun way to experiment with and helps make e/s pop. You can even use it as an all over e/s shadow instead of just as a liner. 3. TEXTURE: Is smooth, creamy, and glides easily and is a dupe for UD 24/7 liner.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
DollFace0011 1/6/2011 1:54:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Drugstores PRICE: 3+ J’ADORE: 1. LINE: I adore everything that has ever come from the Queen Helene line. There is not one product I have had a bad experience with or hasn’t been moisturizing. I have also used the Mint Julep Facial Scrub and adore it. Great replacement for my St. Ives apricot scrub which is a piece of ****. 2. QUANTITY: Quantity and Quality in a 3 oz tub for less than four dollars! You get an incredible amount of product for cheap. What more do you want? 3. CLAIMS: A. Helps dry up acne: I don’t really get acne so I can’t comment on that. B. Rinses away blackheads: Yes and it cleanses and brightens my skin. My skin feels tighter and cleansed from dull skin and oil. C. Helps shrink large pores: Again can’t comment. JE DETESTE/ DEAL BREAKER: 1. PACKAGING: I currently have this in the tub but I have bought this in the tube before. I never liked this tube packaging because it dried out quickly on me and was hard to get the entire product out. Probably my only qualm is that since you get so much of the product your not able to fully use it all so it can dry out quickly.

Highlighters -Unlisted Brand - La Bella Light'ning Gel
DollFace0011 1/6/2011 1:12:00 AM
FIND IT: Online (Used to be able to find it at CVS for 2.50 but now I can only find it online at Amazon for 5+ shipping) J’ADORE: 1. PROMISES: The line suggests “you can go from gradual to radial” and this is incredibly true. I have brown/ black hair that is often times hard to lift. When I was younger I did a crazy dye job that didn’t turn out as expected so I colored the whole thing black. The color I used didn’t restore my natural color but made it JET black. This color may flatter some people, but not on me. I’m actually tan and this color made me look incredibly pale and washed out. Almost like the girl from the RING. So I heard about this product from a friend and thought I would give it a try. This lifted my hair from black to a very light auburn. It was a very light brown, so the color had lifted about 8-9 levels which is crazy amazing coming from a gel. 2. MY APPLICATION: I would usually put this on my hair dry after I had brushed it out. I would take squirts of it and use my fingers to spread it out, and then go over it with my comb to make sure I didn’t have globs of product collecting on one side. After I found that it was saturated I then would twist my hair in a bun or out the way and sleep in it. Sometimes I would wash it out in the morning and other times I would keep it in my hair for a few days. I found this helps process it more. Sun nor heat isn’t necessary but does help the gel process faster. After I washed it out, sometimes I found no changes, and sometimes only slight changes I would deep condition go back to my usual straightening/ blow drying. And just the use of heat products helped the hair get lighter. When I wasn’t satisfied with the results (after giving my hair a few days to rest) I would start the process again. JE DETESTE: 1. APPLICATION: Is not consistent. Because it’s a gel that has to be spread, how much a surface is coated or not coated depends on the user. That be said I have found that even if I try and do an even coating all through my hair and use a comb to make sure it saturated through every strand that some parts of the hair lighten more than others. 2. PROCESSING: I have found that when I did this it took about two weeks+ to really lift my hair color. Considering I didn’t go to a stylist and this product claims it doesn’t have peroxide in it, I guess two weeks is appropriate. But that was a long time in sleeping with gel all over my hair and having brittle coarse hair. 3. DRYING: The product states there is not peroxide used in this but whatever is in it made my hair incredibly brittle. After I used this gel I had to deep condition just to get it soft and manageable. BUY AGAIN: I’m not sure if I would, though this product did work the inconsistency of the application leaves me on the fence. Also I’m not able to color the level of processing, even though the product claims you can use it to get your desired color then stop. Which you can and the color doesn’t fade but when you have new growth its hard to reapply in the re-growth areas to match my color. This may not be an issue for people with lighter hair but since my hair is black/brown trust me having light auburn hair and black roots is not attractive. Also when I finally went to my stylist poor girl had to deal with me having multi dimensional hair color (black, auburn-some parts red, auburn-some parts light brown) and with coarse brittle hair. I believe the last time I tried this product was over a year ago. So right now my hair color is back to normal and I’m going to stop fighting what Mother Nature and my parents gave me. So right now I’m back to the basics-just how my bf likes it, but I’m sure it won’t be long before I’ll be fighting and experimenting with my genes once again. Gotta change it up right? :)

Polishes -L.A. Colors - Metallic Polish Series Color Craze
DollFace0011 1/5/2011 10:43:00 PM
PURCHASED AT: DOLLAR TREE J’ADORE 1.COLORS: A. White- A dark white that would be good for an all over shade or good to just use on tips. B. Silver (Live) - Gorgeous metallic silver color with sparkles. C. Pink-Is a salmon/ pink color, I find this color to be more matte than metallic, nothing special. D. Green/ Blue-A beautifully multi dimensional color. E. Clear-Good as a base or top coast. Works very well. JE DETESTE 1. LABELING: It’s irritating to not be able to find labels on the actual polish. The packaging labeled the shades but who keeps packaging? Ugh. 2. CONSISTENCY: Is a little runny but the colors are vibrant and the standard two coats with a top coat should be adequate. BUY AGAIN? Yes for dollar good color payoff. RECOMMEND? Yes, recommend for anyone who just wants to experiment or have a pop of color. I do find some of the colors in the line look flat almost matte with no sheen and some others are too funky of a shade. Most of the color’s lean toward being more metallic and bright, so not for the timid. Great summer shades. I usually use these colors on my toes rather than my fingernails because these colors are very bright and metallic so not appropriate for work.

Eye Shadow -L.A. Colors - Mineral Eyeshadows All Colors
DollFace0011 1/5/2011 7:53:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Dollar Tree J’ ADORE 1. COLORS: White, Teal, Black, Beige, Purple. I have Black, Teal, and Beige. I would probably only repurchase Beige. These colors are nice to play around with but not my go to e/s except for beige. I find they are all really soft hence the mineral e/s but has good pigmentation. I do find however that blending the colors out they don’t hold true to their color and can look sheer. A. Beige is soft neutral color. I use it as an all-over lid color. B. Teal is a soft smooth teal color. It’s not a dark teal nor sheer just somewhere in the middle C. Black is also very soft and smooth. Very light sparkles. It’s not a true dark black like M.A.C’s carbon. But it is good for experimentation and good to use as a crease color in conjunction with another e/s that’s not mineral. 2. CHEAP: One dollar gives you a fairly good pigmented color. These are a discontinued product since even the LA Colors website doesn’t sell them anymore; they now sell mineral e/s duos. I would suggest picking up a few backups if you really can’t live without these shadows.

Eye Primer -Palladio - Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
DollFace0011 1/5/2011 3:40:00 AM
FIND IT AT: Sally beauty supply or ULTA PRICE: $7-8 (7.19 at Sally’s with card/ 7.99 without card also 7.99 at ulta) J’ADORE 1. CHEAP: Compared to UDPP or TFSI this is a half the cost. And this product works as well if not better than UDPP or TFSI. I don’t think many people will try this because let’s face it some people are product snobs but I don’t hate because while you’re spending that extra money I get to save some and keep these gems for myself. :) 2. CONSISTENCY: Is very creamy, easy to apply, and a little goes a long way. No creasing and lasts a long time. I have dry skin and this works amazing for me. TFSI is a better primer for dry skin then UDPP better for oily skin. I have found from friends and other reviewers with both dry and oily eyelids do well with this primer. Also, I know many makeup artists who use this product over UDPP and TFSI. JE DETESTE/ DEAL-BREAKERS: 1. PACKAGING: Many people may not like the packaging. Yes it can be hard to know how much product you have or have left. And it does feel like you can’t get to all the product because you have to dig with your want to get it out. I do wish it was in a tube just like many other reviewers. However, I don’t mind so much that I would stop buying it. Plus if drop my primer or throw it in a bag I don’t have to worry about the tube being squished. 2. LASTING POWER: I use this primer everyday religiously. On my cheap, expensive, matte, shimmery, powdery, or wet when using this primer the color stays on. So in terms of lasting power for e/s I have no problem. But I have found I have had to replace my primer more times than I would TFSI. Palladio is .17 oz (5 ml) compared to TFSI .35 oz (10ml) and UDPP .34 oz. However that is not a deal-breaker for me, considering even at 8.00 a pop if I bought two, together I would have .34 oz of product and still save 2.00 since both TFSI and UDPP is 18.00 each.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous-- Love That Pink
DollFace0011 1/5/2011 2:49:00 AM
Oh how I wanted to Love that Pink and be Pretty in Pink :sigh: but Why oh WHY does this make me look like Bobo the clown? FIND IT AT: Drugstores PRICE: 5+ J’ADORE 1. COLOR: An exquisite pink color. I have not really worn or been fond of lipstick because I usually play up my eyes. Also, it’s hard to find a good lipstick since my lips are pretty pigmented. But after I ran across a few review that suggested this for warm/ golden skin tones product and checked out the swatches, I had to have it. Also, there is a huge selection of colors in the super lustrous line. But this was the only one that appealed to me, since many of the other colors looked too muted or brown for my taste. 2. CHEAP: Less than $6 for a wide range of colors. Usually can get it at BOGO1/2. 3. PIGMENTATION: Is nice and very true to the sticker swatches, so you know what you’re getting. JE DETESTE 1. COLOR: How can I love and hate the color at the same time? Well because when I wear this lipstick I look like Bobo the clown. DISASTEROUS!!! As one reviewer stated “its almost a garish pink.” Some reviews stated this was for warm/golden skin tones is very wrong, well at least for me. I’m NW35 and this does not work on me, by itself. I tried this color alone a few times but every-time it just looked horrible, way too matte pink. I even tried moisturizing with Vaseline before I put this lipstick on and after. I began to wonder if I picked the same product I found on MUA. So I found the review again-yup same review. Looked at pictures-yup same pictures. Swatched it on my hand-yup same swatch color. Applied it on my lips again-nope-wrong color! Okay so it’s not the color it’s just me. So in order to make it work for me I moisturize my lips with Vaseline first. And then lightly dot my lips with the lipstick and spread it for an even coating. And then I apply Bonne Bell’s caramel latte lip lite over it. Caramael Latte lip lite has this amazing smell with a brown tint and that mixed with the intense pink gives me the most dazzling pink lips ever. BUY AGAIN: I’m not certain if I would buy this again. I do love the color mixed with my Bonne Bell but since I don’t wear lipstick often this is a maybe. RECOMMEND: I do however recommend this lipstick brand. Nice color selection, pretty cheap, easy to find, and I believe this color would look better on lighter/paler skin tones.

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Mini Baked Eyeshadow - All colors
DollFace0011 1/4/2011 11:59:00 PM
FIND IT AT: Sally beauty supply stores or their website online PRICE: .99 or .94 with Card J’ADORE 1. COLORS: Sage, Light Pink, Shadow Pink, Bronze, Pearl White, Dark Aqua, Grey Purple, Dark Purple, Gold, Dark Green, Gunmetal, Silver. I have all of these colors but I would definitely repurchase Bronze, Dark Purple, Gunmetal, and Silver. Bronze- stunning brown/ coppery/ metallic nice shimmery color. Dark Purple- beautiful dark purple color. I use black on my crease and then the dark purple on my eyelid and that gives my shadow more dimension than just the color itself. Gunmetal- a striking gray/ black color. Beautiful even as a crease color mixed with the dark purple on the eyelid. Silver-sparkly silver, very pretty for a night out I find that all the other colors esp. the Pearl White and Dark Green though nicely pigmented also just doesn’t suit my complexion (NW35). The Pearl White may be nice mixed with another color but alone it looks ghastly on me. The Sage and Gold are very metallic; I don’t find either of them impressive. Dark Green and Dark Aqua are very bright metallic colors. I also find the Dark Green more teal then green. 2. GIFTING: Great gift/ Stocking Stuffer. Great and usable product for children, teens and adults. 3. CHEAP: When have you bought a product that’s <$1.00 that is extremely pigmented and has a good range of colors (finding it at the dollar store/ dollar tree doesn’t count) 4. QUALITY: Beautiful pigmentation that is comparable to many high end brands. Don’t let the dome dime size container fool you; these little babies pack a lot of product and quality. I never use these colors dry because it’s hard to pick up the color and the pigmentation on the e/s dry does not do the color justice. Using these products wet gives you awesome pigmentation. I also only use a sponge applicator because it picks up the color better than my brushes. Also IMO all these colors are very beautiful but to give it more dimension I use a darker shade (black) on the crease. JE DETESTE/ DEAL BREAKER: 1. PACKAGING: Is flimsy and if dropped on a hard surface the product may shatter. 2. SELLS OUT: Due to everyone finding out of these awesome cheap gems they are hard to get. Freakin’ sells out before I have time to snatch them up. So I asked the SA when they get their next shipment and call ahead to make sure their stocked and then go and snatch them up.
