Concealers -Laura Mercier - Secret Camouflage

I love this concealer! I was unsure when buying it because it had such mixed reviews, but I took the plunge and figured what the heck I can return it. It's a little tricky to use at first, and you need to have a short bristled concealer brush(you can get them cheap though, it doesn't have to be fancy). I read others who said to mix it on your hand, but I found that I couldn't pick it up well enough and I felt I was wasting the product (and lets face it, it's not cheap). So here's how I apply mine: 1) I open the case and place one (CLEAN) thumb directly onto the makeup for about 30sec. I do this to warm it up so that my brush can pick it up, and so that it will blend well into my skin. 2) I then remove my thumbs and using my makeup brush dab it into both side of pot to get my desired color. 3) I then apply the my makeup to my blemishes(acne) and scars(hyper-pigmentation). I try not to get the makeup on the skin surrounding the marks, just directly on them. ***Throughout applying the makeup I am pressing my other thumb against the makeup, switching back and forth between sides. ***I used Mary Kay Loose Mineral Foundation as a base before application, and I also apply my bronzer and blush before applying concealer. Then after concealing I apply another light layer of foundation powder. UPDATE: I still loveee this concealer after about a month or so of use. But the whole idea of using my bacteria covered fingers in my makeup was getting to me, so I realized I could just use my hair dryer to heat up the concealer instead! Duh! Anyway, I just put my blow dryer on the hot setting and blow directly onto the concealer until I see a very light melt-y shine on the surface of the makeup. Then proceed as usual. Happy concealing!

Concealers -Bare Escentuals - Bisque

I bought this product with high expectations because: a) it's from a company that says their products are actually good for you skin. b) I had read lots of good reviews. When I started using it I wasn't disappointed, it gave great coverage without feeling heavy on my skin. But soon after I started noticing immediate negative effects on my skin. The overall color of my face turned significantly red, to the point that it looked like my face was from a different body. Also, anywhere were I used the concealer, I experienced immediate heavier outbreaks! Turns out there are ingredients in the makeup that effect a lot of people negatively. As soon as I quit using this and all other products with this ingredient, my skin instantly began healing. It's been about 2-3 weeks, and my face is almost 100% better, with no redness and little-no acne. I would advise you to be very cautious when considering using this product. It was a nightmare for me.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri Nailpolish Colors

This is my favorite nail polish! For 3 basic reasons. 1) They dry really quick compared to the more expensive brands. My biggest issue with painting my nails is spending all that time to make them look nice, then messing them up while waiting foreverrr for them to dry. 2) The BEST brush ever. Its kinda flat with a slightly rounded edge. This allows for quick, full, even coverage without me having to re-dip a bunch of times, or do multiple coats. (I only need to do one coat.) 3) Price. It relatively cheap for a good bottle of nail polish. Other nice aspects: stays on pretty well (note: I also use a Revlon No-Chip Top coat); comes in some really pretty colors!

Powder -Pur Minerals - Pressed Powder Foundation

Wow, I absolutely loveee this product! I've used Mary Kay Mineral Foundation for years, but it just gave little to no coverage and it didn't stay on my face more than a couple hours. So I did my research and Pur Minerals sounded promising. It so is!! Great coverage without looking "fake" or made up. And even though this foundation gives great coverage without a ton of layers, it doesn't feel heavy on my face at all. I do have breakouts sometimes, so I use Bare Minerals Bisque Concealer with the Pur Minerals- perfect coverage and face! UPDATE: Turns out, despite me really wanting this to be MY perfect foundation...it made my face breakout reallllllyyyy bad. Big big bumps and lots of little ones too. I'm kinda afraid this product may have brought on cystic acne for me(if that's possible). So after waiting for what was probably too long- I had to stop using this foundation. Since then my face has kinda calmed down- even though I feel like I'm still having some lasting negative effects from the makeup. The great things I said about the make up above are still true- but the major con outweighs all the pros.
