I really like this color. The only reason I give it a 4 is because by itself it's not the most impressive color. However, its a great top coat to freshen up an old color. I've tried to get good pictures, but I think I need to try outdoors to get it right. I used it over Essie's Mesmerize, which is a flat blue color. It makes it a completely new color with an oil slick type sheen. I can't wait to try it over other colors.
This was such a disappointment! I bought it when I saw it for $9 at Sephora, and was so excited to get such a good deal. I made the huge mistake of using it for the first time when I was on my way out, doing my makeup in the car while someone else was driving. It came out clumpy and sparkly, what a horrible combination! Also, the fallout was huge, and I was stuck with bits of glitter all over my face that I couldn't get off. I can't believe that Nars put their name on this product!
Mascara -Make Up For Ever - Smoky Lash Extra Black Mascara

This is definitely my new HG mascara. Before, I've always purchased drugstore mascara even though everything else I use is high-end, because I'd never found anything that lives up to the higher price point. This definitely does. With one coat it thickens my eyelashes so much that I look like I belong in an ad. With an eyelash curler and/or multiple coats, you never need to wear fake eyelashes again. I love this stuff! I have had no problems with clumping as others mentioned, not sure why it does for some and not for others.
I love this lipstick! As another reviewer commented, people *will* look when you wear it, so don't be surprised. I am known for my willingness to try out new looks, and I still got a few double takes. I uploaded a picture of myself wearing the lipstick alone, but you almost need multiple pictures to get a true idea of the color. Depending on the light, and how thick you put it on, you will get different effects. the color seems to be deepest on the outside of my lips, and lighter towards the center so sometimes it seems more plum than purple. I think it looks excellent on pale skin with minimal makeup so there is no competition. I think it would look very good on a wide range of skin tones as well. I took one lippie off because a. even for a satin finish it is a little dry b. it picks up any dry areas on your lips and intensifies them. However, I have been able to fix it quite well by using a coat either over or under of MAC Tendertone Lip Balm in Deep Sigh. It adds moisutre perfectly without altering the color over much.
Oh, I am so very dissapointed with this product. I normally use Essie, or occasionally OPI. I had expected that since OPI makes Nicole polishes that it would be the same quality, but it's absolutely not. I fell in love with the color, "Black to the Future" which is black with a purple sparkle to it. It requires three coats in order to get a good dark color. It goes on beautifully and looks black in regular lighting but provides a purple sparkle as you move or in sunlight. I was so pleased with how glossy it looked under a coat of Seche Vite. The very next day, not even a full 24 hours later, it is chipped on several fingers! I have done nothing that would so quickly ruin my manicure either. In contrast, my toes with three coats of Essie and a top coat of Seche Vite is over two weeks old with no wear. Such a disappointing way to spend $9 and I will not purchase again.
Self Tanners -Hawaiian Tropic - Island Radiance Self Tanner
DestinyA 4/14/2009 10:32:00 PM
Island Radiance is one of the best tanners I've used. The color shows up quickly and goes on evenly with very little streaking. It's a thick moisturizing cream with less scent than most tanners. What scent there is is not too bad. My only complaint with it is the applicator method, which is why I knocked off a point. It has kind of a mousse tip on it that is very bad at responding to different levels of pressure. If you have a small spot you need to do and you only need a little, good luck.
This isn't a bad mascara, it's just not great. With so many other choices I probably won't buy again. It has a bit more of a natural look, and I prefer the fake lashes look. :) It lengthened my lashes but there is no thickening at all. On the plus side, there are no clumps and I have not noticed any flaking.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HIP Pure Pigment Shadow Stick
DestinyA 1/22/2009 10:27:00 AM
I am usually a Sephora or MAC type girl, but I forgot my makeup today so I made a quick stop at the grocery store to pick up a couple of small items. I'd been meaning to try the HIP line for a while, but since its not all that much less than MAC I had not. So I gave in and tried the pigment stick. It's pretty horrible. I got "irresistible" which is a deep shimmery rose color in the package. It reminds me a little bit of those candy lipsticks you could get in the eighties, but smaller. The top of the stick is completely flat, which makes sharp edges where the top and side meet. It is very hard, and putting it on was quite uncomfortable. Because it is so hard you have to press heavily to get any color, and the sharp edges dig in. I tried using a couple of different makeup brushes with varying stiffness of bristles, and none of them could push hard enough to get the color off. After all of that, the color is decent if you can press hard enough. It looks matte on though, while in the package its very shimmery. I won't be purchasing anything else from this line.
