I love this product. My husband and I both use it as a body wash and it works perfectly for that purpose ( I swear it also helped reduce body acne as well).
Eyeliner -New York Color - Waterproof - Dark Brown
Designkelly 12/29/2011 12:05:00 PM
This is a review for the color MINK. This is a great little eyeliner. I use it to fill in my brows as well as line my eyes. Its a very soft pencil which has a tendency to smudge , so I definitely use it more when I am expecting that to happen. Of course it smudges more in warm weather than cold and I wouldn't use it to heavily line my eyes for a night out, as I don't think that would work very well with the smudging. All in all, I always use it up and reach for it everyday.
This is a great gloss. Its not one of my favorites, but it is still a good go to gloss for most days. Its a mild medium pink color with rather large pieces of gold glitter. Its not too much gold, but there is definitely more contrast between the gold pieces and the color of the gloss itself. Definitely perfect for a nighttime summer look or tropical vacation ;) I am a NC20 and this seems to go well with my skin. Its enough pink that it shows up and my skin color can handle the gold. If you are paler than me, it might be too bold or wash you out.
Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream

I love this hand cream. I am fortunate to always get it as a gift for Christmas so I rarely buy it myself, but I know it is expensive. Stays on for a long time and really seems to hydrate skin well. Can be a little hard to rub in on cold hands, so you might need to rub your hands a lot to get the product to heat up. Other than that, its a great lotion with a mild calming smell.
This is a great product , slightly overpriced, but I really like it. I use it after I have applied my makeup to soften the appearance and help set it. It has a pleasant fresh smell and seems to be pleasing to my face. However, there is a product from Cinema Secrets which works better than this one and is much cheaper. Out of laziness I have not ordered it because it is easier to pick up this from MAC instead.
I received a sample of this on the street one day. I guess it was a promotion as it is now being sold at Duane Reade in NYC. It works pretty good. I think the trick is to really smooth it around in your hands so it is warm, then , apply it with a light hand. I use it to calm some of my flyaways and accentuate my layers as well.
Heaven, I love MAC lustreglasses....and I previously used Sinnamon as a go to color and I certainly will continue too, however this color is just incredible...a perfect go to color for the summer and you can layer it over lipsticks, etc. Sometimes I feel like Sinnamon looks better when I am tan, but with this color it doesn't matter, I can be tan or pale and it looks perfect by itself. A perfect nude gloss that still allows the beauty of your lips to show through.
hmmm...I wanted to love this product...but I just think it is seriously overrated and has done nothing for my hair.... I blow dry my hair and hot roll it, then finish it off with a tiny bit of straightening iron, every other day...eeekkk...Its alot of processes....and I'm well aware of that. I needed something to take care of flyaways and make it easier to style. I guess I believed this oil would also heal my hair and take care of some of the split ends. I applied it every other day and rubbed it in while my hair was wet. It might have worked well for one week, but I didn't notice it working anymore and my hair was still pretty dry from these processes...maybe worse so over time. I've switched over to coconut oil for a few weeks and it does a much, much better job. I noticed the split ends are less and less to the point of where they are pretty much almost gone (like they were before I discovered Moroccan Oil) and my hair looks and seems healther. I'll keep using the coconut oil. I won't fall for these gimmicks anymore...Simple is just better when it comes to hair and skin.
HG foundation for me....because of color and coverage. I used to use Revlon Colorstay as well as L'Oreal (can't remember the name). L'Oreal doesn't cover as well and Revlon covers well, but I can't find a color as my skin needs a yellow undertoned foundation. This foundation is perfect...gives pretty heavy buildable coverage, and definitely stays on very very well...I was going to buy it solo and the MAC SA suggested I buy the pressed powder as well. I usually use a no name powder, but the powder in combination with it definitely sets it well. Only thing I would say is that I have dry skin but it is summer time, so my skin is almost combination. I wonder how this will be in the winter?
I have to say this product has been a lifesaver for my skin...I don't know what was going on with my skin prior...but it just seemed like I always had small clogged pores no matter how much I struggled to keep my skin exfoliated and makeup removed. It seemed to gradually get worse over time... My derm recommended this cream. I read the instructions and it said it was for people with rosacea....did I have that? So strange...Yes my skin can be red at times, but I thought that was normal? So I used it and immediately I noticed the red spots gradually became less noticeable and the clogged pores seemed to beg me to remove them..haha However, I only use this product every other night, since I like to self tan so I alternate this with self tanner. Its not a moisturizer as my skin still gets pretty dry at times. But overall, this is a HG product and I will continue to use. I definitely notice my skin seems to clog up again after a few days of not using this.
I actually won this in a Sweepstakes and was like, ok I'll give it a try and I'm glad I did...Its great! It works really well without being too drying..It definitely takes care of removing the top layer of dead skin without burning it. I use it a lot more in the summer than I do in the winter since I have dry skin and don't need such a huge exfoliant. I will probably purchase it when I run out.
Moisturizers -Trader Joe's - Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion
Designkelly 5/20/2011 12:50:00 PM
This is a good product...not HG material and I'll explain why. It has an SPF which I like. Unlike other facial lotions which my skin look grayish and dull, this does not do that , it makes the color of my skin shine through and provides an SPF which is what I need as well. I noticed my skin is dry and flaky, but that is its natural texture because I have dry skin..But I do need a little more moisture then this product provides. I do feel like the SPF is not as strong on this product as my nose occasionally gets red from the sun, which did not happen before. However, it is a natural SPF which is used and I like that. I think this would be a better product to use in the summer when it is hot and my skin doesn't need to be as hydrated...but I'm still concerned about the SPF level.
Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara Waterproof
Designkelly 5/20/2011 11:59:00 AM
I bought this mascara after reading the reviews...I had to find a replacement for my favorite Max Factor 2000 calorie which was discontinued. Its not bad....It works..It takes a while to build up enough product on your lashes...but it definitely keeps them separated and is definitely not clumpy at all. I always use waterproof mascaras as I cannot deal with smudging, since i wear a lot of lotions. This definitely smudges a little, but not as bad as many other mascaras out there. Doesn't flake either. Overall, its a solid choice for mascara, but its not HG material for me.
I thought this product would be great for touch-ups after I worked out...Its ok...It doesn't really cover that well and seems to sit on top of your skin and when it sinks in...it doesn't really cover that well. I'll use it up and mix it with my other foundation, but I won't buy it again.
Described as a lustre lipstick from MAC, Its best described as a light to medium nude brown color. Its definitely an HG product for me in the summertime as I reach for it often when I'm tan. Perfect shiny brown nude color for me in the summer. Its a big too dark for me in the winter though (MAC NC20). I will repurchase when I'm out.
