Fragrances -Chanel - Allure for women
rated 3 of 5

I've had the same bottle for about 2 years now. I've actually received compliments from guyfriends on this one, a nice romantic late night kind of fragrance. But, I don't like it. It smells synthetic to me and I can easily see this being disturbing to many people... such as myself. But with the right chemistry I can see it working.

This is my favorite smelling perfume... when not on me. I went to so many dept. stores trying so many fragrances and this was my favorite one on those little paper strips, but once on my wrist it turned south fast. This is really one of those chemistry things, it just turns sour on my skin in a rotten orange kind of way.

This is a very sweet perfume. One reviewer described it as a "sexy cookie." I would agree with that. For me it feels a bit over the edge sweet, but guys disagree. I live with 3 guy roommates who hate most scents I wear (allure, coco mlle, #5, all dior scents), but this is the only one they linger around for. Sure, I feel a bit like a stawberry pastry with too much powdered sugar, but it is a very SEXY strawberry pastry with lots of powdered sugar none the less. You know the saying, the quickest way to a man's heart... I don't think they know the reason they like it is because it smells like food though, I mentioned it and they denied noticing the cookieness about it. They just tell me they like to smell it, and they like to smell it on me. They also said they'd spray it on themselves if they were gay, but they all agreed this is a very feminine fragrance. Edit: After a week of use I consulted two more guy friends. Friend A: "Smells like makeup." Friend B: "You don't want to know" Me: "No, tell me." Friend B: "You don't want to know!" Me: "Just tell me!" Friend B: "It smells like the stuff strippers wear." Me: "uhh... is that a good thing?" Friend B: "It's a nice smell... but a stripper smell." Well, I don't know how many strippers he's been dealing with, but I don't like the idea of being associated with a stripper... at least not while fully clothed. I stick with my 4 lippie rating though, smells ok/good to me, guys vary from ok/great.

Fragrances -Issey Miyake - L'Eau d'Issey

When it's first put on my skin, bleh!!! I mean, it's so strong and sharp I want to wash it off. But, and this is a big but, after 5-10 minutes most of the alcohol evaporates leaving this intriguing beautiful warm/cool spice/marine scent that makes me want to smell myself over and over. Normally I have horrible chemistry with scents, but this one worked for me... although I can see it not working for other people. Side note: This layers really well with other perfumes, and takes the cheap smell away from my body sprays.

Lip Treatments -Joey New York - Super Duper Lips
rated 1 of 5
Dela27 12/29/2004 7:28:00 PM

Don't buy it! If you're thinking, "Well, maybe it will work for me," then please stop and listen to everybody's warnings. 1. It is sticky, smelly, tastes funny, and gets everywhere. 2. Takes 7 minutes attention to put on. 3. IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING!!! I am generally of the philosophy that if something is expensive it will work better (yes, I know, bad Erica), but this product has taught me not to put faith in a high price tag, or cosmopolitan. The editor must be "Joey's" mother or something. Just an awful waste of money.

Skincare - Face -Joey New York - Chin Breakout Relief
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 12/29/2004 7:13:00 PM

I'm 21 and I still break out around my chin regularly. I've used this product for a couple months now and I have never seen better results using any other product. Now I only get 1, maybe 2 pimples around my period, which beats the 6 or 7 from before. And now my acne scars are healing since new ones aren't coming out. Pretty soon I won't need concealer on hand every minute of the day! Two downsides though, 1. The color is orange-brown (that was stupid of them) and 2. The smell is annoying at first. This wouldn't be a problem if my roommate wasn't my bf. But, he hasn't noticed so far, so maybe it's in my head... or maybe he's just a typical male.

Lipstick -Clinique - Chubby Stick Duo in Vanilla Brownie 02 and Nude Ice 05
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 8/26/2004 2:41:00 PM

I never tried vanilla brownie, but nude ice is a lot more versatile than it appears to be. The color is somewhat like a light gold, which I thought would definitely clash with a ppp light blue eyed, dark brown hair girl like me, but once I figured out how to use it it was beautiful. If I ever wear a top (beige, light brown, gold) anywhere near the color I use nude ice and then a pinky bronze lip gloss over it, and it comes out looking amazing. I match it with eyeshadows like stila kitten, or urban decay midnight cowboy, even MAC satin taupe, and I get comments every time on how cute I look... from strangers! Definitely a unique but fortunate find. The only problem, I can't wear it more than one time a week, it is soooooo drying!

Fragrances -Chanel - No.5
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 12/29/2003 10:04:00 AM

I love this fragrance. I am seeing a lot of old lady comments which is weird since I think of fromaldahyde (sp?) when I smell old ladies, and this is NOT like formalda... I am 20 and my boyfriend and I both love this fragrance. I can't smell it just once, throughout the day I constantly bring my wrist up to my nose about a thousand times. It is very intriguing and not a smell that leaves the memory, in a good way. When I wear it I get second looks when I pass by the guys at the end of class and they have a strange smile on their faces. I don't really know what to attribute it to, but I know it isn't my regular pajama pants 8 AM outfit. This is really a haunting feminine scent.

Concealers -Trucco - Concealer
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 12/26/2003 8:59:00 PM

Another one of those holy grail beauty products that hasn't been disconvered yet. I have pretty bad undereye circles, ever since I was a kid. I am pale (very VERY pale) and my circles drag down my whole face. Most products are either too shear or they look too cakey. My mom had trucco in neutral and while I was home for winter break I used some. OMG, this is what I have been looking for while experimenting in coverage from clinique to chanel. Trucco in light didn't work for me since it was too bright, but the neutral literally neutralized my undereye circles. I look so awake, I am very happy, especially since I bought it with my ulta gift card.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Tilt
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 11/19/2003 3:55:00 PM

Normally I can't wear blue e/s since my eyes are blue and it just ends up looking scary and tacky, but this e/s actually enhances the blue in my eyes without competing for attention. Maybe because it is a more subdued blue, I don't know, but it does the trick. It looks great with Urban Decay Asphyxia. Both have an irredescence that can make blue eyes glow at night time. I use MAC trax in the crease to tone down the irredescence a bit, depending on my mood. This makes a shimmery look, but not overly shimmery like some other products I have seen. Tilt is a fun eyeshadow to have, sets me apart from some of the other girls at nighttime.

Lipstick -Lancome - Sheer Magnetic in Visionary
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 10/23/2003 3:25:00 PM

This is my number one staple. Above my pressed powders and MAC/UD eyeshadows this product, Lancome's Visionary, is the one thing I could not live without. If it was going to be discontinued I'd buy 20 and preserve them. I am pale with light blue eyes and dark hair and thin lips. This is the only lipstick that matches my coloring and makes lips standout, in a good way. Not tacky, not subtle, just perfect.

Lipstick -MAC - Frost Lipstick in New York Apple
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 10/22/2003 8:21:00 PM

I have pale skin and thin lips, so the only things reds do are accentuate my thin lips and make me look washed out. This is definately not the ordinary red! It gave my lips unknown dimension (shades or berry, rose, flashes of pink) while still flattering my skin tone. For some *lucky* reason the lighter shades in the lipstick (pink/rose) only shows up on my pout (maybe the way the light hits it) so it makes my lips look fuller. A nice darker lipcolor alternative to Lancome Visionary and MAC O, my other staples.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Frost Eyeshadow in Vellum
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 10/17/2003 6:59:00 PM

This color looked great on me. I have light blue eyes and dark brown hair and the opalescent purple went perfect with my coloring. The color in the pot almost scared me away (chalky white) but it is the perfect light lilac/lavender with just a hint of light blue. Very pretty, definite repurchase. And for only 12.50 it's a good buy, compared to other high-end brands.

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - Creamy Eyeshadow
rated 1 of 5
Dela27 10/14/2003 6:59:00 PM

**EDIT: Okay, I was young and didn't know any better. Everyone else is right. It looks really pretty, but disappears in a little under an hour.** I am surprised there aren't more reviews for this! I bought the cream shadow duo in Navy Profound, but the name is misleading. The larger portion of the shadow is a glowing lavender, it is the classy gorgeous version of Almay Brighteyes in lavender. It glides on with no problems and changes my appearance from dull and tired to pretty and feminine. And it works great for nighttime because the navy blue portion works as a liner and can be used to create the smokey eye look. I normally have problems with smokey eye makeup, but since the shadows blend so easily I actually come off like I know what I am doing. This product IS expensive, but for the effect it has on my overall appearance, it was definitely worth the price.

Eyeliner -BeneFit Cosmetics - Eye Bright
rated 5 of 5
Dela27 7/30/2003 6:00:00 PM

My blue eyes get red easily and so if I study all night it shows the next day. This product is a Godsend! I used to only wear it on mornings when I got no sleep, but then my boyfriend would compliment me on how "cute" I look only on days I got no sleep (weird), so I started wearing it everyday. Now I get his "cute" compliments all the time. This stuff really livened my face. I use it on my inner eyes, upper lashline, on the dark area on the sides of the bridge of my nose, and on the outercorners of my eyes (they tend to get red and slant down on me). Just make sure to blend!
