Styling Products -Sebastian - Whipped Creme
DebraSD 5/25/2010 10:49:00 PM
My hair stylist suggested I get this product because she has been using it on her clients and loves the shine she gets from it. Granted, it does make your hair shiny, however, a LITTLE goes a long way! I have very fine, short hair and I never use a conditioner anyway, so I was a bit reluctant to try this product and a bit perplexed as to why my stylist suggested I use this. I noticed it weighed my hair down, especially my bangs. I tried using less and less over the course of this week hoping I would improve the overall effect, but I was not successful. I really don't consider this a "styling product" and it is not worth the price tag of $19.00 for my needs. Back to ULTA it will go.

Lip Gloss -MAC - pret-a-papier
DebraSD 5/2/2010 1:23:00 PM
I purchased this LE gloss without even trying it on in the store. It just looked really pretty in the tube. Once I got home and tried it on, I was pleasantly surprised with the color! On my slightly pigmented lips the color looks like a rich burgundy/orange (if that makes sense). It has gold flecks in it which gives it a hint of shimmer. You can build the color intensity, which can go from a daytime to an evening look. As with most MAC l/g, it has great staying power. I plan to purchase another one since it's a LE.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Sweet Almond Oil
DebraSD 1/28/2010 9:28:00 PM
After reading all the reviews here I was so excited to try this product. First of all, a little goes a long way and you should let it sit on your face awhile before going to bed. When I first started using it, I felt some slight itchiness around the cheek and chin area, but I just blew it off to something new my skin was not used to. I used it for about a week and started to break out with painful cyst type pimples! I might get ONE of these pimples once every 2 months or so, but 6 in one week is completely unheard of for me. I had no choice but to discontiue using this product. My face is still trying to recover from the terrible and embarassing break-outs I encountered. I'm really disappointed about this because I really wanted this product to work for me.

Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Flash Mousse Mascara -- Extreme Black
DebraSD 5/14/2009 11:05:00 PM
Not a good mascara for contact lens users! It flakes like crazy, and I've more problems with little bits of this mascara getting under my lenses than any other mascara I've ever tried. Additionally, it runs like crazy. My eyes started to water after getting something in my eye one day at work and the next thing I know I've got black streaks running down my face! The brush has a bit of an odd shape and is a bit clumsy to use. I'm not getting the whole "mousse" hype. It's pretty gloppy mascara and clumps like crazy. Lastly, I can't STAND the chemical smell, which also makes my eyes burn. Rimmel mascaras tend to have that in common, which does not make me want to get any other formulas, no matter how dirt cheap they are. I'll stick with my Maybelline Volume Express mascara for now.

Eyeliner -Ulta - automatic eyeliner
DebraSD 9/30/2008 11:27:00 PM
Ulta had their buy 3 get 3 free sale going on so I decided to try out these liners. I've been trying to find a cheaper alternative to the Clinique quickliners. Wow...I'm pleasantly surprised! The staying power of these liners is great and they are very similar to the Clinique liners I'm so fond of. The texture is smooth and goes on nicely. No tugging or pulling. I haven't had any problems with smudging or running, which I've had problems with when I've tried other liners. Additionally, I have no problem removing it with my regular face wash at the end of the day when I take my make-up off. The only difference I see between these liners and the Clinique liners is the attached smudge brush on the Clinique liners. No big deal for me since I don't use it, but if you do, that might be a downside. You can't beat the price at $6.50 each and it's even better when they are on sale. What a steal for such a good quality product. I will certainly be purchasing other colors once my Clinique quickliners run out.

Eyeliner -Palladio - Herbal Eye Liner Pencil Waterproof Retractable - Brownie
DebraSD 9/27/2008 2:26:00 PM
My review is on the Black/Brown pencil. I purchased this product based on the reviews here. Unfortunately, the pencil leaves a lot to be desired. I use the Clinque retractable liners on a daily basis, but I've been trying to find a more cost effective alternative. Sadly, this liner will not be the alternative. The liner "ran" off my upper lids and sort of pooled on the bottom edge of my lid. I didn't notice it until I looked at myself in the mirror a few hours later. It looked like I had black smudges under my eyes! Additionally, the liner is very difficult to remove. I found myself pulling and tugging my eye area in order to get it all off. Not a good thing to do to your skin. I have no intention of purchasing this product again.

Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Alien
DebraSD 6/2/2007 8:32:00 PM
I'm perplexed at the fact that someone would name a perfume "Alien", and then package it in an "Alien" looking bottle, unless of course you are a big fan of Sci-Fi. I could not for the life of me figure out why the SA went on and on about this perfume. I found it to be a very heavy scent, with sickly sweet under notes. I am not fond of scents that don't wash off well either. This one seemed to sink into my skin and I could still smell it on myself 24 hours later after taking two showers! If you are a fan of the perfume "Poison", (which I'm not), you might just like this one. This one was not for me.

Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Angel
DebraSD 6/2/2007 8:22:00 PM
Chocolate, Patchouli and other "food type" scents make up this perfume. The SA told me, "Men just LOVE this perfume on women." Well, my DH did not like the scent on me any more than I liked it. I felt nauseated after wearing it for about and hour. It's way too heavy a scent for me. IMHO, it incorporates too many scents. It sort of reminds me of being stuck in a hot elevator with 10 people wearing 10 differenct scents. I would never recommend this perfume to someone I liked. :)

Skincare - Body -Sally Hansen - Airbrush Legs in Medium Glow
DebraSD 5/23/2007 10:52:00 PM
I have very pale white legs, with tiny spider veins on my ankles and around my knees, so I was hesitant to purchase this product at first, since reading some of the other reviews about orange legs, streaking, staining, etc..but I did not want to wear pantyhose while wearing sandals to a semi-formal event. I was pleasantly surprised to like this product so much! You MUST follow the directions on the can to get good results. I started out by making sure that I put moisturizer on my legs about an hour before application. I sprayed it on the tips of my hands, rubbed my hands lightly together and applied the product to one section of my leg at a time. I found that you must work fairly quickly and blend, blend, blend with your hands. I decided to do two applications because I did not think I got great coverage the first time around. Since it dries very quickly, you can do this without having streaks. As for the so called "orange" look that some people complained about, I did not seem to have that problem. Again, I blended it very well. It really is water-proof. After my event, I came home and took a shower, but decided not to soap up my legs. It lasted through the entire next day while I worked in my yard! That evening all I used was soap and a WHITE washcloth to get it off. It came off very easily and it did not stain my washcloth in the least bit. My friend wanted to know what I did to my legs to make them look so good because she used a self-tanner earlier in the day, and SHE was the one with orange streaks. I will certainly use this product again!

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Color Surge Impossibly Glossy - Cream Soda
DebraSD 7/13/2006 12:51:00 AM
This gloss actually looks darker in the tube then it will on your lips. I have slightly pigmented lips and this color does absolutely nothing for me. I think it looks like a bronze/mauve with slight gold flecks in the tube, but it goes on so light on your lips. I found this gloss to be thin with barely any staying power for me. It's very difficult to get good application on your lips with the lousy tube applicator. Last but not least, the WEIRD stench of this gloss bowls me over everytime I applied it. I can't put my finger on it, but it certainly does not smell "right" to me. Thank goodness I got it as a GWP and didn't waste my money on a poor quality product. I would not purchase any of these glosses.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Chromeglass in Technobeet
DebraSD 3/12/2006 11:46:00 PM
I'm going to be the odd one out on this one! First of all, I am a lipglass fan and decided to try this because of all the great reviews. The only thing this gloss has going for it is the color. It looks like a dark burgandy-berry on my slightly pigmented lips. I don't like the applicator at all. It's the tiniest "nail polish" type brush that collects WAY too much gloss on it. You have to wipe the excess off on the side of the container before you can apply it, otherwise it will go on really goopy. The brush is very difficult to control and I end up with a mess outside the lines of my lips. The staying power on me is not very long at all. I can wear the lipglass for a few hours without having to reapply, unfortunately, I find myself having to reapply the Chromeglass after only an hour or two. Lastly, I find the formula very drying on my lips. I will be returning this product and replacing it with a lipglass. Too bad, because I think the color selection is great.

Conditioner -ABBA - True Mint Conditioner
DebraSD 1/6/2006 11:58:00 PM
This conditioner came as a recommendation from a friend. Overall I think the conditioner works very well for my fine hair and does not weigh it down in the least bit, however the "fragrance", (and I'm using this term loosely) is terrible. It does not smell like any sort of mint to me. I'm not sure if the bottle I got was bad, but it smells like wet dog! lol I will use the bottle up because I bought it in another city and can't return it, however, I will not be purchasing this again.

Lip Gloss -Avon - Glazewear in Blushing
DebraSD 3/21/2005 9:04:00 PM
I could hardly get past the horrid smell of this gloss to even attempt to try it, but I did anyway. I find this gloss not very "glossy". It's more like liquid lipstick. The color looks sort of like an orange/mauve on me, which is NOT a good color. The formula is very drying and does not have any lasting power. I would not purchase this product again.

Lip Gloss -Avon - Glazewear in Berry Cool
DebraSD 3/21/2005 8:57:00 PM
I could barely get past the horrid smell of this lipgloss to even attempt to use it. The color does not do me any justice at all. It looks sort of opaque/purple on my lips. The formula is also very drying and not long lasting. I would not purchase this product again.

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL volume+length microfiber mascara
DebraSD 3/4/2005 12:44:00 PM
This is by far the WORST mascara I have ever tried. Let's start with the "primer", it looks and adheres like cake frosting. The primer is just a white clumpy mess with a very strong chemical smell, which made my eyes water and burn. Waited for the primer to dry, then attempted to put the regular mascara on. I attempted several coats to define my lashes. You also have to make sure that you cover all the primer or else you will end up with white patches on your lashes. Not a good look if you have dark lashes to begin with. My lashes did not look fuller or longer with this mascara. Who are they actually kidding with this stuff? The wand(s) are a whole different bad story. Since it's a two-in-one design, I find the wands difficult to work with because they are too short and bulky. I found it very awkward to apply this mascara using these wands. I truly wasted my money on this product, even if it was less than $6.00 at Target. The mascara got tossed and I won't ever purchase this again.
