Crème -L'Oreal - magic smooth souffle

I got this like the previous reviewer to be a cheaper daily foundation than my usual BB oil free in alabaster. My skin is normal, with a little redness on my cheeks. This covers the red better than the BB which surprised me. I got the Light Ivory, which looked a little peachy in the jar, but went on almost as light as my usual alabaster. It covered the red well enough that my new Laura Mercier blush in Barely Pink was almost too light. I got the new light blush since the red in my cheeks always show through some. So I think I am going to use this a lot now. It is a matte finish so I think the summers here in Texas might not melt it off as fast as some other moisturizing formulas. I think this color is right between BB alabaster and porcelain.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
rated 4 of 5
Debi3 2/13/2012 9:13:00 PM

I just a CVS coupon to use on these and so I got on here to check out colors first. I have Sugar Plum, and I like it pretty well. After looking at reviews I decided to test it out to see if it lasts through eating, so I put it on, had chili, and went to see how it looked. I have pale lips and they were stained a plummy color definitely darker than my lips, but basically it was gone. I honestly don't think any lipstick lasts through eating though, so I was surprised to see the light stain remaining. I am going to get one of the reds for my daughter. She has the CG naturluxe red and if you lick your lips one time it is almost gone, so this will be an improvement. I think a sheer red looks better on her than a regular lipstick and doesn't involve liner , blotting, etc. I have the loreal balm in the darkest color, a plum, and I like it ok but it seems greasy compared to this and does not last very well at all. I use it at night just to not waste it. I like this better than Fresh Sugar Rose, which surprised me. Fresh is too expensive for what it is, and doesn't do much for chapped lips. The Dr. told us to get plain Eucerin cream to go around my daughters lips when they were chapped and she was little and licked around them constantly and had a big red chapped ring around her lips and every lip balm I tried did not help at all and I have used it ever since. It got red of the red ring with about 2 applications. Anyway, I think these balms work well as a basic moisturizer, but are not going to do much if you are skiing or something and really need protection. I may try the clear lip liner trick one of the reviewers had used if I can find one.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Rich Lip Color SPF 12
rated 4 of 5
Debi3 2/11/2012 4:04:00 PM

I bought Lilac which looks a lot better swatched on my arm than on my lips. It looks kind of blah once applies. It looks more pink on my arm and more pale violet on my lips. But my lips are kind of pale and maybe that's why. Blue Raspberry is better on me. I did not like the matte finish at first but it wears well with a little lipgloss, so I put popsicle gloss over this lightly so the lipstick will still last without getting goopy and I like it better. I like the creamy formula better, but I can't use gloss with it or it wears off too fast. So I am keeping it just so I can change it up with glosses. I really like it with smashbox gloss in Ecstacy-sp?. It is a sheer blackberry color. Maybe I would like this formula better in desert rose which is not a lighter color than my lips and one sheer coat would be enough. I think if you have pale cool tone skin and like a light color with a smoky eye, and the nude colors are too peach, beige, or orange, then this would make a good pale color for that look. This lipstick feels good on, I personally just don't care for the matte look. Update: Changing to 4 lippies. I have noticed that if I apply this on bare lips and let it sit a few minutes, the color darkens to the lilac color that I thought it was when I swatched it. I can then add a little gloss or balm and it is not too matte. This is one of my favorite colors now. I wish I liked it just as well without gloss, but I guess there is no perfect lipstick out there for me.

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Wild Rose Shimmer Brick Compact
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 2/11/2012 3:44:00 PM

I love this! I have the Rose also, and I like this one so much better. I am very fair-BB alabaster or sometimes porcelain. The Rose was brighter and more shimmery and somehow seemed like it had a little peach in it. I had to put it on with a fan brush or it just looked so fake. I ended up using the pink second from the bottom as eyeshadow, which I love. So I rarely used it as blush, and could not use it at all over a regular blush since it made it more pink and I have to use a very pale pink or look like a clown. This wild rose I can actually use with a regular blush brush as well as a fan brush. I have Laura Mercier blush in Barely Pink and it is about the same on me but with a tiny bit more shimmer in the BB. It actually goes on smooth over bare skin for me as well, which is something I neve do with other powder blush since I have some pink in my cheeks - not a lot- and on bare skin blush just looks extremely bright somehow. It surprised me how much I liked the finish on bare skin, though I would never actually go anywhere without at least a powder base of some kind on first. I really like the low shimmer of this and I am thinking of getting another one in case it gets discontinued.

Mascara -Revlon - Photoready 3D Volume
rated 4 of 5
Debi3 2/11/2012 3:26:00 PM

I did not like this the first time I used it. I thought it just put on such a sheer coat and did not lenghten. I tried it again, and I went back and put a second coat on after finishing both eyes and it made such a difference. I have never been able to do that without all my lashes sticking together like spider legs. I have not so thick lashes and not so long lashes, and while I think this lengthens about as much as I have ever gotten with any other mascara, I like that it thickens them up without clumping. I do have to brush on about 10 strokes per eye to begin with, but that is what it takes no matter what mascara I use. If I have ever had a really thick mascara it clumps up unless I wipe almost all of it off in the container first. I don't have to do it with this, and it does not have fibers or tubes that come off to irritate my eyes like lash stiletto. If you have thick lashes to begin with it may not work as well, Maybe its just better on thin lashes and that's why some of the reviews haven't been as good.

Lip Gloss -Jane Iredale - PureGloss for Lips in Sugar Plum
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 2/1/2012 2:13:00 PM

I have this and Raspberry. I like to use natural products on my lips since I am essentially "eating" my lip products. I really like this gloss better than the JI lipsticks, which I think have a weird finish. I like the lipstick colors ok, just not the finish. But this gloss has enough color to use in place of lipstick and feels really good on. It seems to wear better than my other glosses- smashbox, BB, and Estee Lauder. The raspberry is a natural medium pink with some plum, but very natural, if you don't put it on too thick, which I think makes the color muddy. all glosses are somewhat sticky, but this one not as much.Sugar Plum goes well with my cool toned skin, but I think Raspberry could go with any skin tone. It does not pull orange or brown on me and I have blue undertones, but it seems neutral enough for anyone.

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Shimmerbrick Shimmer Brick Compact (All colors)
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 7/22/2011 7:27:00 PM

I have found that using this with a fanbrush works best. I first put on BB cream blush in Stonewash Pink--which is kind of peachy pink/neutral, and then put the Rose Shimmerbrick over it. I can get away with a more pink blush if my cheeks are not really pink that day. I don't care for the brush that came with it. It seems to put it on in a streak and make it hard to blend, even without the cream blush under it. also, I like to use some of the pink shades at the darker end of the pallette on my brow bone, and the white on the eyelid, which opens up my eye. I am planning on getting Beach too. I think it will blend well over BB pale pink cream blush.

Liquid -Jane Iredale - Liquid Minerals
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 3/16/2011 9:20:00 PM

I use this with the JI foundation brush. At first it looks very sheer, but as it dries it gives a nice finish. I don't think it would cover acne. I get a much better result with the brush than just using my fingers. In fact, I never even bother using my fingers with it. It is so much better with the brush, I don't get oily with it. If I put it on sheerly under my eyes, and then tap on my Bobbi Brown corrector, it gives a perfect finish. I have used 4 bottles of this, and one time I got a bottle that the little balls in it had gotten kind of hard and they took a lot of effort to spread out, so I exchanged it. The only thing I think would be better is if it came in a color as light as the bisque but more of an alabaster color. Bisque is slightly peach on me, but I am extremely fair.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - lip colors
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 7/10/2010 1:33:00 AM

I like the staying power of this lipstick, and have only had one that felt dry. Maybe it was a liitle old or something. I got it-Brownie Pink, from QVC. The ones I got at the mall or from BB online were not dry. For me, a very fair, blue undertoned skin, my favorite is Azalea from the antigua pallette. I hope it comes out in regular lipstick b/c I love it. It is a pretty pink/ lilac to me, and a shimmer, but I don't think it has that much shimmer to it. Raspberry Metallic is much more "frosty" and I would like it better if it showed more color and less shimmer. Tulle is my favorite of the pinks. These lipsticks hold up well with lipgloss. Really moisturizing lipstick does not last with gloss on me. I took ;the advice on QVC that I could not go wrong with Brownie Pink but that did not pan out. It is just to orange. I have to put it on with a brush to tone it down and then put some pink gloss over it and it is ok so I don't have to waste it. I like the texture b/c it does not feel heavy or greasy. Azalea{sp}? is close to Jane Iredale rose, just a little more plum, but jane's has ha strange texture and I like BB better.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Lip Color - Pink Ballet
rated 4 of 5
Debi3 7/10/2010 1:19:00 AM

I got this in a pallette, so for that reason, I would not buy it again, as it is a liitle too light for me. But it is a pretty color, and if I apply it heavy like it would be if it was a regular lipstick it is dark enough that I can wear it with the right outfit. If you are at least a little tanned and look good in cool pinks you will like it. It is very flattering on my daughter, who is a cool skin toned blonde. I think it would be excellent for a young girl who is just starting to wear lipstick too. Not a babyish pink, just pretty.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - Powder Pink
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 7/10/2010 1:11:00 AM

I am giving this a good rating even though this is not my best color. I have never liked cream blush. It took me a while to realize how little it takes of this product, but I like the natural look of it and it lasts well on the skin. This color is just too bright for me. I am very light-alabaster/porcelain with blue undertones. I have more pink in my cheeks now than I did a few years ago and this is the color pink I am trying to hide in my cheeks. I like the pale pink a lot better. I think this is a good color to match brownie pink lipstick. Powder pink is just a little too warm and bright on me. The BB online makeup artist recommeded pale pink for me or the sheer version is lilac or lavender, I can't remember which, and I really like the formula. I am getting to like the cream version better than powder now that I have the technique down better. It is definitely worth a try. I put it on several times at night just to get the hang of it, when I did not have to go anywhere. I hated it at first, but am glad I hung in there.

Bronzers -Bobbi Brown - Illuminating Bronzing Powder in Antigua
rated 4 of 5
Debi3 7/10/2010 1:01:00 AM

I got this is a pallette and I had read that it makes a good blush on very fair skin. I am so fair that I use a fan brush a just a tiny swipe of this and it is perfect. I have blue undertones and have never been able to use anything with peach in it, but this has enough pink that it's ok. If I put very much on the peach starts to come out more. My daughter has blonde hair and cool toned skin, but a slight tan and it goes real well on her also. The pink ballet lipcolor that came in the pallette and this for a blush matches best for her, and the azaela which is a pinky plum, but sheer , is best on me. I think this is a good blush for fair skin as it is sheer and natural. Nars Orgasm is supposed to be pinky peach, but it is way more orange and bright.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 6/3/2010 10:05:00 PM

Prior to my daughters wedding we watched a lot of youtube videoson make up and it seemed that a salmon concealer is the way to go if you have blue toned dark circles. So I tried the jane iredale in peach and it was a little shiny and really moist and settled in my fine lines. But I tried the bobbi brown in light bisque and I love it. I had a BB concealer kit in the past with porcelain bisque corrector, concealer, and stick foundation. The foundation is a good color for me--very light. But the corrector and concealer were so light it just made my circles look worse. I used to think I needed a concealer that was as light as my skin. But the light bisque corrector would be way to dark as a foundation for me, but I apply BB natural finish oil free make up in porcelain with a brush, and then lightly apply this corrector and the circles just disappear! I would never think that the slightly darker color corrector would do that but it works better than anything I have ever used, including Laura Mercier secret camoflage which was my favorite before. My skin was always oily ,and still is somewhat, so I just use a smidge of eye cream, but not on the dark circle part, so maybe that is why I don't have trouble with this settling in fine lines, though I don't have much of a line problem. Sometime I set it with a very light bit of powder, but I have to be really careful with powder under my eyes as that will make me look like I do have worse lines. I will definitely keep buying this as long as BB makes it. Update: Still Love This after a month! I just use oil free foundation first and then tap on and pat to blend this corrector. It just takes one finger tap in the corrector per eye. Lightly patting to blend really covers well, and I set it carefully with a little powder on a very small brush just where the corrector is. After 6 hours or so if it is settling some, I just lightly tap it and it looks like it did when I first put it on. I don't use moisturizer and I think it helps keep my makeup looking fresh.

Powder -Jane Iredale - Pure Pressed Base
rated 3 of 5
Debi3 5/20/2010 9:13:00 PM

I tried this in bisque and it was chalky looking even when applied with a brush. Ivory looked a little better. I never tried setting it with the spray like some people suggested with Amazing Base, but that might make all the difference. It just doesn't seem to last otherwise. I do like that it is matte and not shiny like the original bareminerals. I do like how the ivory looks when I first put it on, so I am going to get some of the spray and try it that way. I actually like using BE Well Rested as my base better, because I so light and it blends in with my coloring so well, and it doesn't look as dry. I think it does well with coverage, but like any mineral bases, I can't use it under my eyes. I think if I had tried this 10 years ago when my skin was a little oilier I would have liked it better.

Lipstick -Jane Iredale - PureMoist LipColour SPF 18
rated 5 of 5
Debi3 5/20/2010 9:03:00 PM

I love the Rose color. I am very fair, blue gray eyes, brown hair. I like it best applied with a brush, and I use a little light pink gloss that came with my JI lip gloss set called Fascination, which is my favorite gloss set. Rose is a mauve/pink/rose color and is close to the color in the Fascination set, but not drying like the really long wearing stuff is. Sometimes I put Buxom gloss over it in Trixie and it changes it to a soft rose that is more neutral and takes away the plum. I used to have a ton of different mauve, pink, and plum lipsticks but this is my favorite. I just change it up with different glosses. Even clear gloss makes it very pretty.
