Liquid -Maybelline - Fit Me Foundation

I am loving this foundation. I have dry but otherwise fairly good skin so a light coverage is ok for me as I just want to even out my skin tone and reduce redness on my cheeks. If you want a medium or full coverage this is not the foundation for you. I don't think it would be great for oily skin either. At first I wasn't sure about the colour match as I thought it looked a bit dark. I have this in 120 classic ivory which is the lightest, yellow-toned shade, although in my opinion it is actually fairly neutral. However, after this sat on my skin for a few minutes it looked much better. I find that the longer I have it on, the better the colour seems to look. This foundation is one of the best-wearing I have tried. After several hours it actually looked better than when first applied. Like my own skin but better. First time I used a sponge but the coverage was too sheer, now I use a brush and blend with my fingers. It looks like good skin without make-up - a great Summer/Daytime look. For something which is so light and comfortable to wear, and not drying at all, it lasted really well - much better than I was expecting. I only wish the bottle had a pump.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 5 of 5
DarceyLondon 12/4/2012 10:04:00 PM

This is my new HG mascara for daytime (I have it in 'intense black'). I have spent years trying high end (Lancome, Estee Lauder, Chanel) and drugstore (L'Oreal, Max Factor, Rimmel, various Maybelline) mascaras and thanks to the reviews on here stumbled across this. This is absolutely brilliant. It is the first mascara I've had where exactly the right amount is on the brush when you extract it from the tube. Most of the others I've tried have way too much product on the brush so you either waste it or make a terrible mess. Full'n'Soft gives a great daytime lash extension and fullness while keeping lashes soft and natural looking. It doesn't flake (something which always seems to happen to me even with really expensive brands) or clump and doesn't end up all over my eyelids where my lashes touch. I love this for work and for daytime. If you want something dramatic or to really thicken/lengthen your lashes, this isn't for you. I would wear something different for a night out. But for daytime this is perfect. I will be stocking up on this!

Lipstick -Australis - Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick
rated 4 of 5
DarceyLondon 12/4/2012 9:51:00 PM

I haven't bought Australis since I was a teenager but this lipstick is great! I bought this in 'jive' and 'samba' two beautiful cool toned, slightly mauvy pinks. I find it really hard to get pinks that aren't too sickly lolly pink or bright barbie pink but that are also not too brown or too peachy. These shades are perfect. I can definitely see myself going back for more. I love the names of the colours too - really fun. This lipstick feels really nice and creamy on and gives a good coverage - not sheer at all - and there is absolutely no frosting or glitter. Just a nice opaque, dewy finish. It feels really moisturising too - and survived my eating (just). Much better quality than I was expecting. Well done Australis! I would definitely buy these again.

Lipstick -Max Factor - Colour Elixir Lipstick
rated 3 of 5
DarceyLondon 12/4/2012 1:07:00 AM

I have this in Secret Cerise and Maroon Dust. Secret Cerise is quite a bold pink which actually looks slightly frosted when you put it on (but not in a completely awful 80s way). It's a fun colour for daytime that I wear for a 'pick me up' when I'm feeling tired and washed out. This lipstick has loads of pigment and the colour really lasts without drying. It goes on really smoothly (even when my lips are a bit dry) and doesn't bleed, even when I wear it without lipliner or any sort of base or foundation. This is a slightly buish pink so it might be better for cool skintones. Some reviewers have commented on the smell of this lipstick, but I don't notice it. The only downside is that it is really hard to get off. Maroon Dust was a bit of a mistake and just doesn't suit me. It looks like it should be a nude, but it's a bit peachy for me. Maybe it would suit a warmer skintone? Having read the MUA reviews I am keen to try Burnt Caramel.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
rated 1 of 5
DarceyLondon 12/3/2012 11:07:00 PM

I bought this BB cream because it was 1/2 price at Coles. I really wanted to like it, but having persisted with it for a few weeks I'll be throwing it in the bin. The colour (I bought it in 'Light') is a bit too orange for me but the main problem is the texture/finish. I didn't have any issue with the coverage, after all it's not a foundation. The coverage is more like a tinted moisturiser (maybe a little bit better), and that's all I expected. But I found it really accentuated any fine lines on my face. I have dry skin so I wore my normal moisturiser underneath, but this still felt quite tight on my skin after a while and made my skin look crepey. I won't be using it again.

Liquid -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup
rated 1 of 5
DarceyLondon 12/3/2012 7:03:00 PM

I tried this having had great success with the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse and the Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser (although it does irritate a little after a while). I bought this foundation in the same shade as the Dream Liquid Mousse. That was a mistake. The same shade in this foundation is darker and looks very orange. I'm also not a fan of the texture. On my dry skin it went on okay, but it's too sheer for me and doesn't do anything to even out skintone or hide imperfections. It also did nothing to 'rewind' my age. It claims to instantly erase time - it didn't. In fact, after a while it was patchy and uneven and made me look older rather than younger. Also not sure how hygienic the sponge applicator is as there is no way of cleaning it so far as I know. I gave this foundation a week, then I threw it in the bin. I would definitely not repurchase this product.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche - Made for me naturals NUDE
rated 4 of 5
DarceyLondon 12/2/2012 9:48:00 PM

I went to Priceline looking for 'Fairest Nude' because of the rave reviews on here, but they didn't have it so I bought 235 'Nude' instead. I haven't had much luck with nudes in the past as anything paler than my lips or too peachy makes me look really weird - like I've just put foundation or concealer on my lips and nothing else. This nude, although it is paler than my natural lip colour actually lifts my complexion (though not as much as a deeper colour) and gives me a nice, polished, 'groomed' look. I feel really classy wearing this. I wear it for day, but am thinking of trying it out at night to balance/offset a dramatic eye. It looks quite different on your lips than it does in the tube (it has more pink it in that you would expect). While it says it's for blondes, I am brunette but with pale (slightly yellow-toned skin) and the colour works for me. The lipstick goes on beautifully even though I have dry, and sometimes a little flakey, lips. It doesn't feel drying and even when it wears away (after a few hours) it leaves a nice tint. I don't wear it everyday day, but when I have worn it, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. The only downsides are the packaging, which is cumbersome and a bit cheap looking and the smell. The smell is awful. If you can get past those things, it's a great buy. I would repurchase for the colour.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Age Smart Skin Resurfacing Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
DarceyLondon 12/2/2012 6:57:00 PM

This resurfaced my skin alright! (and not in a good way). I was given 4 sample sachets of this and at first I really liked it. My skin felt really clean and fresh and I thought it would be perfect for getting rid of the dull, dry Winter skin and refine my complexion for Summer. Sadly after Day 3 I had to abandon it. My skin was really irritated, dry and peeling. I think this would be great for oiler and/or less sensitive skin but sadly not for me. I can't comment on price or packing because I only had samples, but my overall rating is a 2 because this product did not suit my skin type.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rated 3 of 5
DarceyLondon 11/30/2012 12:25:00 AM

UPDATE: I have just seen some photos where I'm wearing this. Although it looked fine on my face in the mirror, in the pictures my face looks a different colour from my neck - a bit darker and slightly orange. So disappointing as the fairer shades are too pink for me and I love everything else about this foundation. Embarrassed that I've been happily wearing this for so long - oops ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have just repurchased this (in Nude Light (4)). I love the velvety finish and it glides on easily (I use a brush and my fingers) even over my dry and sometimes flakey skin. It really evens out my skin tone and doesn't accentuate the dryness. It has decent staying power and feels nice and light to wear (I hate that heavy make-up feeling on my face). It also doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. I have used more expensive foundations and while the colour match and staying power aren't as good with this one, it is great value for money and wears well on my dry skin. About the colour - when I swatch it on the inside of my wrist, it looks too dark and a bit orange, but on my face it seems to work. This is a good value, really wearable foundation.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Shine Seduction - Spice Potion 630
rated 4 of 5
DarceyLondon 11/30/2012 12:13:00 AM

I just rediscovered this at the bottom of my lipstick drawer when having a clean out and have fallen in love with it all over again. I am fair, with cool skin tones and find it really hard to get a nude that's not too peachy, but that is actually nude and not pink. This colour is great, I feel groomed and polished without having to wear lipstick as this has just enough colour to look like more than just plain gloss, but is light enough to still be fresh and pretty and not too 'done'. I have sensitive skin and react to a lot of lipsticks but have no problems with this one. I find it lasts really well too (for a gloss). I would definitely buy this again. A make up bag staple.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Bone
rated 4 of 5
DarceyLondon 11/17/2012 6:15:00 PM

I bought this eyeshadow after some magazine reviews suggested it was a great shade to help you look more awake (something I desperately need as a mum). I have very fair, dry, sensitive skin and my eyelids are quite red and often a bit flaky. This eyeshadow is perfect for me. It doesn't irritate or sting and a little bit goes a long way. It doesn't 'catch' on the flakes and the colour really takes away the redness giving a much more even skin tone. I wear it on its own or as a great base. (I really like to wear it under 'candelight'.) Plus, it really does make me look fresh and awake - great for when I've been up all night with the kids but don't want to look like it!
