Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17

I wore Clinique City Base in Alabaster for all my 20s and then it started to break me out and just not sit well on my skin, so I tried a few other Clinique foundations, all of which I hated. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a foundation, so I read a bunch of reviews here and off to the drugstore I went to try the three most well-reviewed. I have dry, moderately sensitive skin that gets shiny on my nose and redness around my jawline. I'm also very pale, with neutral undertones and I don't like a heavy feel, but prefer light coverage. I wore each one for 2 weeks. So here goes: Revlon ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex spf 15 in 110 Ivory: I like the way this applied the best. It went on very smooth and blended well. Smells like paint. A teensy bit darker than the others. Made me break out. Neutrogena Healthy Skin liquid makeup spf 20 in 20 Natural Ivory: very nice color match and also applied well. Scent is very perfumy and flowery and didn't go away. I could feel this foundation on my skin throughout the day, so not weightless like I prefer. Didn't break out, but tended to get oily. L'Oreal True Match super-blendable makeup spf 17 in neutral n1 soft ivory: I tried this one first and didn't like it because it really shows any patches of dry skin. However it is the one I'm using now because it is so light, but covers well, good color match, no break-outs, no oilies, and I found the scent to be the lightest. This foundation looks a lot better if I take care of my skin and moisturize and exfoliate properly : ) I absolutely love that I can touch my face during the day and it feels like skin, not makeup. P.S. I also went to the Lancome counter and tried Teint Idole in Intensity 1 Ivoire 2 (C), but just couldn't spend the 40 bucks. And it doesn't have suncreen.

Cleansers -Philosophy - the microdelivery exfoliating wash
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 4:19:00 PM
The best exfoliant I have used so far - even better than my old favorite Bliss scrub. Gentle, but effective. I don't like the scent as much as others, but who cares when it works so well. The lid gets clogged and so I have to screw off the top to get to the product, which I'm fine with since I use it at the sink. I try to remember to use it 2-3 times a week and I can really tell the difference in the texture of my skin when I forget and go for awhile without using. It's also great as a body scrub for the bumpy skin on my arms.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 4:15:00 PM
I bought this a cheaper alternative to my previous night cream (which I realized was irritating my eyes, even though I use a separate night cream, go figure), not expecting to like it. But I actually really do. I wouldn't like to use it for day as it doesn't absorb all that well, but it's great as a night cream. I have noticed that my skin isn't as smooth as it was with my previous cream, but oh well - this stuff is affordable.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - My Silhouette Redefining Gel-Cream
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 4:14:00 PM
I generally don't buy into products like this, but I was willing to try quite a few things after having my baby. I used this lotion twice a day and really did get results in the firmness and toneness of my post-baby belly skin. I've since gotten lazy about using it and can really tell the difference. I don't know how this product works, but it does.

Styling Products -Aveda - Light Elements Defining Whip
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 4:11:00 PM
I have short medium-thick, fine textured hair. I use this on short, flippy do to give it some texture and definition. I like it because it is so light and doesn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy. It is also great for smoothing the wispys along my part and hairline. I have had the same tub for about 2 years now and have hardly made a dent. It is scented, but pleasantly so.

Treatments -Bliss Labs - Peeling Groovy Facial Serum
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 4:09:00 PM
This product works... too well. I had really great results using once a day at first, but then it dried my skin out and made it flaky, red and itcy. I cut back to every few days, but then it seemed like it wasn't doing anything. It's crazy expensive, but a little bit goes a long way. I still have almost the whole bottle left, so now I use it as a spot treatment when I get bumpy along my jawline. Back to DermaDoctor Picture Porefect!

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Shy Girl
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 4:03:00 PM
Shy Girl is a very neutral pale peach/nude on me - I don't get any pink undertones at all. I wear this when I want a natural look, but still want some lip definition. Looks good over my MAC Subculture lip pencil. I find any and all lipsticks to be drying, but MAC lipsticks seem to be less drying than others. I don't think I would buy again, as it is just a tad too pale for me.

Lip Liners -MAC - Subculture
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 3:59:00 PM
I know that Spice is supposed to be the go to lip liner for MAC, but it is too dark for me. Subculture is the perfect neutral lip pencil for pale me. Sometimes I just wear this lip pencil with a clear gloss over the top and it looks great! Not too soft, not too drying, goes great under all my lipsticks, and helps my lipstick last longer. Can't ask for much more.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer

I think UDPP works a little bit better, but I will probably continue to use this product instead because it has better packaging and doesn't make my lids feel as tight.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipgelee Jellybabe
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 3:54:00 PM
I'm not a big gloss wearer because I don't like sticky lips, but sometimes a girl needs some shine. This gloss is a nice neutral color so I can wear it over any of my lip sticks and has decent staying power. I like the squeeze tube better than wand applicators and I love that it doesn't have any glitter. Just a nice, basic gloss to have around on the rare occasions I'm in the mood for shiny, sticky lips : )

Concealers -Lancome - Effacernes
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 3:49:00 PM
I LOVE this concealer! I love that it comes in a tube so no more yucky applicator. I love how well the color matches my skin tone. I love how it does not irritate my eyes or skin. However, the best thing about this product is the staying power - no creasing, no smudging, no fading. By far the BEST concealer I have ever tried. Also works somewhat well as an eyeshadow primer. (no match for UDPP, but not bad!)

Pressed Powders -Laura Mercier - Pressed Setting Powder - Translucent
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 3:45:00 PM
I had been using MAC pressed powder, but it started to make my skin itch, so I switched to this. This powder is just lovely - fine texture, delicate feeling on skin. I use it set my make-up and to take care of mid-day shine. Works year-round for me and I'm on my 2nd compact. Expensive, but worth it.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
DaniellePaul 4/25/2010 3:42:00 PM
I checked that, yes, I would buy this again, although I probably will never have to as this is a very generously sized product. I am very pale, and I like to use this bronzer on the few occasions when I go out at night. I use it on both my face and chest and it gives me a nice glow. I'm not sure how natural it would look in daylight on someone as pale as me, but I do like it for night : )
