BB Cream -Catrice - BB 6 in 1
DanceyPants 5/6/2013 11:16:00 AM
The perfect light foundation. This was recommended by a youtuber (can't recall who!) and i picked it up. I'm SO glad I did. -My skin is very, VERY dry and this is the first thing i've used it a while that hasn't aggravated my dehydrated skin. My nose often flakes up when I use a full foundation, but this hasn't caused any flaking. -The finish is a dewy, natural glow. I set mine with a bit of Rimmel's Stay Matte powder, and it tends to stay on well throughout the work/college length day. It's true to it's claims, and i'm totally impressed with it. -I wear the palest shade, which belnds out well to the right colour. I'm a Lancome 010 (you know you're pale when you need a zero in front of your foundation number!) and the 010 colour of the BB cream is perfect for me. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a nice, light summer foundation, or even for someone who just doesn't like a heavy foundation. The coverage is sheer, and it doesn't fee like i'm wearing foundation when it's on.

Liquid -Catrice - Infinite Matt Make Up
DanceyPants 4/14/2013 2:34:00 PM
I've heard this is discontinued, which is quite disappointing because this really was something great! If you can get your hands on it I thoroughly recommend it. As it's a continental European brand, there's even a shade pale enough for the palest of faces (I was so impressed with this, most high street brands don't have many pale shades!). It's advertised as a matt foundation, but honest it worked perfectly on my very dry and sensitive skin. The pigmentation is fantastic, and it's super blendable. A definite hit with me.

Foundations -Sleek - Skin Revive

I'm super impressed with the foundation. I'm incredibly pale, to the point where the vast majority of high street (and even high end!) foundations don't carry a shade pale enough for me. I'm a Lancome 010 teint idole for reference, and I use the colour Shell, which is a really good match for me. As a silicon based foundation, it sits really, really well on my dry skin, and it doesn't go patchy on me.It has fantastic coverage which you can work to be sheer or more full coverage. It's super blendable and settles down to skin beautifully. My only criticism of the actual product is it takes a while to dry, this is not a last-minute-out-the-door product, it's something that demands it's time to dry, otherwise it transfers. Once it is dry however, it doesn't move, and powder sits nicely on top of it.

Cleansers -LUSH - 9 to 5
DanceyPants 3/24/2013 12:31:00 PM
I really, really wanted to like this. The synthesised chemicals are waaaay down the list, which gave me hope. Oh so much hope. Then I used it. Bit of back story- I used to use Lush's ultra bland cleanser, but let's be fair- it feel like spreading Crisco on your face. I wanted something with a lot of natural ingredients in it, because I find anything with a lot of chemicals in it strips my face, and can react badly with my skin (i've absolutely nothing against chemicals though, I really don't. Back in my acne days it was pretty much the more the better). So I went into Lush, and an assistant pointed me to this- something light and most importantly to me, in a bottle. I hate anything that comes in a tub. So I used it as per instructions, wipe on, work in, wash off thoroughly. And the next morning I woke up a big scaly mess. I had what I can only term a VIOLENT reaction to this. It was awful, it was itchy, it was uncomfortable, and it was embarrassing. I let it clear up, and after about three weeks (optimum healing time for me!) I gave it another go, just so I could be sure. I willing put my face up against the cleanser again, for definitive proof. Scientific method 101. Same result, same scaly skin. Long story short- I'm sure for some people this is the best thing for your skin, and it works well for you. For me, it was a really terrible thing to use. So for any other people who have sensitive, dry skin who want a gentle cleanser, I would recommend you steer very clear of this one. I will give it this though- the bottle was really handy to use. Much more hygienic than the pots Lush usually use, I wish more of their stuff was sold like this.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
DanceyPants 1/10/2013 3:46:00 PM
I originally quite liked this, but the longer i used the the less enamoured i was. It's orange. Plain and simple, it is orange. I'm a very, very pale girl, so i'm open to believing it's just on me it looks completely the wrong colour, but i've noticed that much of the criticism is about the colour. Perhaps mixed with a moisturiser it's a bit better, but I just can't get this to work with my skin. If you're looking for a sheer coverage that looks good with a powder on top, this is for you, but only if you can get the colour to match you.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole Ultra 24h
DanceyPants 1/10/2013 2:50:00 PM
The first time i've bought the reformulated version, and the first thing I noticed was the staying power. I have dry skin, it drinks foundation up, but this wore off quicker than the last formulation, despite the 24hr claim. It's an nice foundation. I suppose nie is all I can say to sum it up, it's no longer my HG foundation. One layer is enough coverage for me, which thoroughly impressed me- i've been using a No7 foundation which needs at least two to get going. The coverage is gorgeous on my skin, but it's worth noting that i've no real problems with scarring or pigmentation. My skin is a bit ruddy, and this covers it well. I've noticed that when it's first applied, it can look a bit darker than my own skin (i'm the palest shade in the range, and it can look a tad orange on application) but it's not too bad. I bought the colour that I was in the previous incarnation, not realising the formula had changed, so while I was a 010 before, I'm probably closer to an 005 now - don't blind buy based on your previous colour, test it out. It's too much money to spend on something that isn't the right colour for you. It's not a massive change, and now Ireland is moving into it's summer (haha, i know. Irish summer...) it might be a better colour for me, i'm just disappointed with the change. I can't fault the foundation much. It was my own fault for getting the wrong colour! The only problem I have with it is that it can be a bit drying, but if, unlike me, you use a primer that probably wont be an issue for you. At 35 euro, it's not the cheapest, but with this you definitely get what you pay for. one thing to note, as someone else pointed out- treat that bottle like it' a damn baby, because it will not survive a fall. Not at all.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer

Ah the eternal war between this an UD. Honestly, i've had both and this wins HANDS DOWN. I can put my eyeshadow on, go off to college, some home in the evening and my eye make up will l look as if i just put it on. My only gripe is the price- at 24 euro, it's not as affordable as UD, the only place where it conceeds to Primer Potion.

Eye Shadow -Avon - eight in one eye palette neutral tones
DanceyPants 8/13/2012 2:28:00 PM
Was given this as a present, to be a somewhat more portable Naked Palette, and i adore it!! Perfect handbag size, and you can get some beautiful finishes for it. I'd recommend using a primer with it (but it stays put really well without!) , and caution when applying it as some fallout does occur, but only on application, otherwise it firmly stays put!

Concealers -Catrice - Allround Concealer
DanceyPants 8/13/2012 2:15:00 PM
I'm absolutely loving this. I've never used a pink concealer so effective, all my friends took ages to realise what was so different about me!! My only bugbear is the darkest concealer. I'd actually prefer if the palette came in two types- one with another lighter shade of concealer, and this one with the darker, because i'm so pale i have absolutely no use for it! And for anyone having issues with the green, i applied it after a first thin layer of foundation, dabbed it on with my concealer brush, blended with a bit of the skin tone concealer, then a proper layer of foundation, and worked a charm!

Fragrances -Kenzo - Flower
DanceyPants 7/6/2011 7:37:00 PM
My absolute favourite perfume- i've loved it ever since my aunt let me have her trial size bottle when i was 8! The smell is soft and powdering, but not in a bad way. It's a welcoming, reassuring scent that's long lasting. I've tried many, many perfumes, and went through a phase of wearing the cheapest and nastiest smelling perfume ever (thinking i was the bees knees, have since seen sense!), and have tried maaaaany others, but i always come back to this. It's the perfect day scent. The bottle is beautiful, but perhaps not the most practical, so i'm taking a lippy off for that. I love the flower on the front of it, so elegant IMO. The perfume is good value for money, with a 50ml EDP I bought at christmas still going strong, what with the longevity of the scent! I recommend Flower to someone looking for a soft, pretty and longlasting daytime scent.

Blush -Smashbox - Fusion Soft Lights - Intermix
DanceyPants 7/6/2011 7:19:00 PM
Hands down one of the best products i've bought recently!! I love using the darker two shades on teh bottom as contouring powders, and the top two as the highlight- it works so perfectly. I bought it because smashbox don't sell their contouring kits in Ireland, so this was the next best thing, and i'm completely in love with it! It's the first bronzer-type product that doesn't make my face look dirty, which is always a plus. A lot of people use a normal powder brush, but honestly I recommend using the Smashbox #22 fan brush, or something similar, especially if you use it for contouring like I do. A product well worth the 28 euros I paid for it, and it last for ages.

Even the palest shade of this is orange, and it transfers to clothes all the time! i'd definitely never buy it again, even though it is good value for money.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Zovirax (acyclovir) coldsore ointment
DanceyPants 5/22/2011 6:27:00 PM
This is definitely an effective product, depending on how quickly you use it too. Put it on the second you feel the horrific tingle, and it'll clear up faster than a coldsore would naturally. Nprmally mine take about two weeks to heal, but if i'm using this its only a week, scabbing included (nasty but true :P ) Also, it's pretty expensive from chemists, but i've found stocking up in the duty free is a good plan as it's cheaper there.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector
DanceyPants 5/22/2011 6:19:00 PM
While I cannot fault how the corrector works (the finish was brilliant!); to all you sensitive skinned lasses out there- BEWARE. I had a SEVERE allergic reaction to this after wearing it a couple hours. So i'm voting down on would i buy again, but as i said, I couldn't actually fault how it worked, i just personally can't use it.
