Great color! It was a bit gloopy right out of a new bottle, though--is that just me?

Polishes -Orly - Mind's Eye

Love it! This is one of those "muddy" cremes that Orly does so well. Goes with everything, and yet I get unsolicited compliments on it.

Polishes -OPI - Get Me to the Taj

Love this one! It's a great YNBB, and works perfectly as a base for sheer shimmers like Essie Nude Beach. I expect this one to become one of my staples.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Plum Beguiling
DCMALJ 10/26/2010 7:46:00 PM
I just noticed that almost all my lippies are L'Oreal Colour Riche, but hey, they're great. Nice and moisturizing, great color saturation and a huge variety of colors. But this one in particular--plummy perfection. This is about to be my go-to plum for fall and winter. It's a somewhat muted plum with perfectly saturated color, dark enough to be fairly dramatic without being vampy-dark, and just the right smidge of shimmer.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - New Flat Top Brush
DCMALJ 10/3/2010 6:03:00 PM
I liked this brush a lot for a few months, until one day the whole "hair" part fell out of the metal collar. I haven't done anything weird with it & have treated it just like my long-handled kabuki, which I've had longer and is still fine. And the worst part is that EDM won't respond to my inquiries about it. Love their products for the most part, but not a good experience here. :-/

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler
DCMALJ 2/18/2010 6:16:00 PM
Wow! I love it. I mostly gave up curling my lashes for a while--crimp-style curlers always lift off my eyeliner and pull out my lashes, and my Revlon heated curler didn't work well enough to bother with. So glad I read the reviews for this one! It uses a AA battery (as opposed to Revlon's AAA, which has to make a difference in how much heat it can produce), heats up in a minute or so, and *actually works*! Be sure to read the directions, and don't try to comb your lashes with it...just hold it against them for 5 seconds or so, move up and repeat. Magic! I would definitely repurchase if necessary. I paid about $12 shipped from eBay.

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Heated Eyelash Curler
DCMALJ 2/18/2010 6:10:00 PM
Eh. It works, I guess, and for the price I can't complain much. It just doesn't get hot enough to work well, though. It takes me a long time to get just a little bit of a curl. I just replaced mine with a Panasonic and the difference is huge...I wouldn't bother with this one.

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Color Care
DCMALJ 6/12/2009 1:51:00 PM
I have curly hair and can't use just any shampoo, but I've had great luck with Suave's Professionals line, and this is no exception. I researched shampoos a bit when I was getting ready to color my hair for the first time and decided to go with this one. Three months later, the red in my hair still looks great and has faded much less than I expected. I use it with the Color Care conditioner, and the combination works great for me. No complaints, and for $3, what a steal!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
DCMALJ 5/5/2009 7:10:00 PM
Decent mascara, but the fat brush is hard to work with and the weird-shaped tube can be hard to get a grip on to open--especially with any kind of lotion on your hands. No complaints about the product itself, except that it's not worth the hype, IMO. I won't repurchase because of the packaging issues and because there are less expensive mascaras that are just as good.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Huggable Hangers and Ultra Slim Flocked Hangers
DCMALJ 4/13/2009 8:28:00 PM
Love it! My husband and I share a tiny closet, so I bought the 50-pack of Bed Bath and Beyond's version of Huggables to try. I was so impressed I just went back to buy two additional 10-packs to finish our closet and fit out the coat closet. They really do save a ton of space, and I love that I can hang sweaters with them without ending up with stretched necklines or the dreaded shoulder bumps. With the two BBB coupons I used, without which no one should buy anything there (everyone knows you can use expired coupons and that they'll take more than one per purchase, right?), my cost was 67 cents per hanger--obviously much more expensive than 10-for-a-buck plastic ones, but well worth it.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmer in Nutmeg
DCMALJ 4/12/2009 10:46:00 PM
Perfect! I love this stuff. Not at all the color I was looking for when I picked "Nutmeg", but it's become a go-to for me. The color is a pale, sheer, warm-toned shimmer. I love it for whenever I don't want to wear lipstick or gloss but don't want to go naked--a nice understated but finished look and a lip balm feel. I find this to be nice and shimmery, but definitely not 80's frost. It's too sheer for that. I also love the slim tube that applies much more precisely that a traditional lip balm, though with this sheer color I can still apply it without a mirror. Cons (yes, there are a few!): it's a little expensive for what it is, though I've decided it's worth it and have re-purchased, and it has very little lasting power--though I don't particularly expect a tinted lip balm to last for hours. On me it lasts an hour or so if I'm not eating or drinking.

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach
DCMALJ 4/7/2009 6:51:00 PM
Pretty blush and I find Cheekers to be surprisingly good quality, but the color must be too light for me. I have to build so much to get it to show up (I'm fair-skinned but not porcelain) that it ends up looking cakey on me. :-( I don't know what smell people are talking about--all makeup has a smell, and I don't find anything offensive about this one at all. The price is great and I used to use Natural Rose, so I think I need to give that one another try.

Lips -Everyday Minerals - Natural Lip Gloss
DCMALJ 4/3/2009 5:21:00 PM
EM sent me two of these free with my order, so I can't complain...but I was surprised. First of all, they're not glosses. More of a balm with a bit of color--like a bad version of Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer. Very waxy-dry and kind of weird-smelling, and the colors they sent me were odd. Siesta is a strange orangey-nude that went on kind of streaky and left little lumps of product on my lips. Coffee Shop looked almost black in the tube but went on as a very sheer, slightly grey-mauve shimmer. Coffee Shop wasn't terrible, but I'd never buy these...nice of EM to save me from ordering them. :-) I love the other EM products I've tried, so these surprised me. I guess no company can do everything right, though!

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Coffee Shimmer
DCMALJ 3/31/2009 11:25:00 PM
I haven't used up my tube yet, but it's getting close and I'm watching for Walgreens' next BOGO sale on Rimmel products. :-) I find this to be a *great* lippie for the price--perfectly pigmented, applies nicely, lasts well, and this color is great with my pale, warm-toned skin and blue eyes. Sounds weird, but I notice that this lippie brightens my whole face and makes even my eyes "pop". I've gotten compliments on it and been asked for the name of it more than once, though that's probably more because it's a good color for my particular face than that it's a great color in general. It's not as brown as the name implies--kind of a brownish mauve.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche - Star Secrets - Millas Plum
DCMALJ 3/31/2009 11:16:00 PM
Love it! This is a nice, not-too-bright plum that looks great with my pale, warm-toned skin. I think it would be wearable on almost anyone, though. It's not as dark as it looks in the tube like it might be--it's somewhat sheer and buildable.
